[Q] [REQ] Bluetooth MAP Protocol for Ford Sync - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way that Bluetooth MAP profiles can be enabled for the Evo? I'm almost certain the changes would have to be at the kernel level... specifically, making additions to the Bluetooth stack.
Current Bluetooth Stack: Chipset: Broadcom BCM4329-B1
Current Bluetooth Version: Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
Current Bluetooth Stack: Broadcom BTL-A
Currently supported profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, FTP, HFP, HSP, OPP, and PBAP.
This MAP profile would allow the EVO to send SMS and Email message information over Bluetooth to devices that also support MAP... namely Ford Sync.
I have found a few links that may provide leads:
google-summer-of-code-2010 BlueZ Bluetooth Stack for Nexus One: here
XDA forum for the G1 detailing a customer service rep attempting to explain AT commands: here
I know most Motorola phones also support MAP profiles, so the source for their kernels may be a good place to start.
I will continue looking for leads and picking through some source code... but I am pretty new to Android development, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Good luck, I have been posting all over the place trying to get an answer to this for my Incredible. So far, no one seems to be able to do it

Apparently some of the Motorola Droid models work with SYNC. I'd love to find a ROM that provides MAP. Alternatively, pointers to info on what Moto did to add this support would be appreciated.

any luck with this. I am in even more of a bind, being i am in canada, and the Droid Series of phones are not supported here.
Id really like to find an android phone that works in canada and is fully compatible with Sync

did anyone see this?

A2DP SP5

Ok so this is not the only phone that I can see that is wireless everything but does not support A2DP so you can listen to the mp3 player wirelessly??? I have seen that some have updated other units (MDAIII) to use a BT stack from broadcom and I was wondering if it is possible to do it on the sp5? I am guessing that using the broadcom stack does not require BT 1.2 but I am not sure what stack the sp5 is using and where I would get the updates. I am also reading that most that have done an update have mention static if they move around?? Why then would you need BT if you cannot move?? Is this then the V1.1 causing the problem and why it should be on 1.2?? :?
more info
Ok so I have asked the question about the sp5 & sp5m about A2DP so you can use stereo bluetooth headphones that include player controls and I found some answers.
A2DP only fully works on Bluetooth V1.2 and these units only V1.1. I have seen that some people have installed some third party BT stacks on there BT V1.1 units to get high quality stereo profiles but they do not have player control. Also it may not even be A2DP it may just be a facsimile but more interesting it may be A2DP. When looking at the specs of phones it says Bluetooth V1.1 but does not say which silicon (Chip) is in the unit which is very important because the chips are backwards compatible. Meaning it may be V1.1 but the chip maybe able to run V1.2 because the manufacture just put in V1.1 stack and rom. So we should all be not asking about new stacks and upgrades but first ask which chip is in the units and if it is a V1.2 compatible, then we should start demanding rom and stack upgrades now. As for the chips the V1.2 and more chips have been out for at least 2 years so the manufactures cannot say the release of them postdated their own development date unless they have been hand building the units for the last year and that gave them one year to test.
Well can someone please tell me which or who’s BT chip is in the sp5 and sp5m

SPP Profile on any ROM for EVO?

I've built a piece of hardware that allows for communication over bluetooth to a phone, and have tested the hardware as best I can. It uses an LMX9838 module from national semiconductor for bluetooth support. I've been trying for an hour to get the hardware to connect to my EVO but it never shows up in the device list. I can get it to communicate with my laptop, my work blackberry, but not my EVO running 2.2.
I've tried searching for EVO 2.2 and SPP profiles, but can't seem t find much. are any mods supporting SPP? I've seen elsewhere on google that 2.1 may have an old BT stack that does not support SPP, but nothing solid on 2.2 yet.
Hopeing someone here knows better.
Thanks.

Mango added bluetooth compatibility

In the Mango previews I read that there was to be added bluetooth compatibility to help with the numerous issues that people have had with connecting with hands free devices.
See this thread if you are unaware of the problem.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-problem/b53c64ce-30ee-4734-9dab-28ce0d561132
My question is:
Does anyone know for certain if this beta version includes the updated bluetooth? I have Mango beta on my Focus and so far I still have not been able to completely connect to my vehicles hands free device. I'm hoping that maybe it just has not been implemented yet.
Microsoft has updated the Bluetooth stack in Windows Phone 7.5, with the new stack receiving Bluetooth SIG approval on the 5th June 2011.
New is Hand-Free Profile 1.5, which should mean better support for Bluetooth car kits. Also updated is the AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Protocol) from version 1.0 to 1.3, which brings track and other meta-data information transmission and playback status information (paused, stopped, etc).
Unfortunately it still does not bring Sim Access Profile.

[REQ] modded Bluetooth.apk w/Phone Book Access Protocol (PBAP)

Any help to get a hold of a modded Bluetooth.apk w/Phone Book Access Protocol (PBAP) would be greatly appreciated. My car's handsfree interface no longer can call out through phone on CM10/10.1 nor on stock JOP40D 4.2/4.2.1 and I'm in research mode.

Update: So this is why AOSP ROMs no longer like my car?
"New Bluetooth stack
Android 4.2 introduces a new Bluetooth stack optimized for use with Android devices. The new Bluetooth stack developed in collaboration between Google and Broadcom replaces the stack based on BlueZ and provides improved compatibility and reliability."
PBAP
Nice request.
Want my Sony MEX-BT3900u to be able to access my phonebook directly via bluetooth PBAP but didn't see any success till now.

Best bluetooth support AOSP rom?

I'm currently using AOKP and am having issues with stability when using Pandora over the Pioneer link to my new head unit. It works, but if I try to skip a song, my phone freezes up and eventually reboots itself. I'm pretty sure its because of issues with these protocols support so I was wondering if there was an AOSP rom that has really good bluetooth support. The protocols it needs is:
A2DP profile for audio streaming.
AVRCP profile for audio control (track metadata available on 2013 and 2012 AVIC and AVH models with AVRCP 1.3).
SPP (Serial Port Profile) for full, on-screen control of Pandora® internet radio and Aha™ Radio (for Navigation receivers)apps when installed on Android device. Please check the owner's manual of your Pioneer receiver to verify compatibility with the Bluetooth SPP profile.
Does any of that make sense? Would I have better luck with just standard CM10?
