[Q] Warm Rom 2.2 Sense Force Close - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having this problem? Quite often, my phone will freeze at unlock and about 30 seconds later, HTC Sense force closes. Im running Myns Warm Rom 2.2 because its the best one I've found. But this is quite irritating. Any known fix for this?

Anyone? Bueler?

Are you using a stock or custom kernel? Did you wipe Dalvik cache and cache? I would wipe the caches and see if it improves any.
I had the same problem but a little different: when opening HTC mail because I didn't clear data when I loaded Warm RLS5. Solved it by removing my mail account and re adding it.

Are you using setcpu maybe. And as the guy previous to me asked did you wipe caches before flashing. I know it's redundant but not wiping caches can do weird things to your phone

Phone crashes when dialing *2

HTC evo phone force closes/stopped unexpectedly when attempting to call *2. The bigger problem is after crashing, 3g and data connection go offline for 15 seconds and the entire UI (adw) gets sluggish for a good minute.
Any known fixes?

I'm getting the same crash now. I dialed fine before root, now I'm on rooted 2.2. Was there any fix?
Yes
I had this problem for awhile guys. When you rooted did you wipe your cache and dalvik cache? Try that first if it doesn't work try the newest king kernel I'm currently doing so and now longer have the issue. Make sure you wipe the two caches when you switch kernels.
Go into the folder fresh removed apps on your sd card and reinstall the Sprint Zone. apk.*2 for customer service requires that app to be installed.

[Q] Weird Groups in People I Can't Delete :(

Was going through my People contacts and noticed a bunch of odd "Groups" that I cannot delete. Can anyone tell me what these are and how I lose them? i use Google to store my Contacts.
SIM corporate unlock PIN
SIM IMSA unlock PIN
SIM network subset unlock PIN
SIM service provider unlock SIM
Your phone's storage is almost full
What the heck are these? How do I delete them? When I hit /menu/delete groups/ it doesn't give me an option to delete these.
I have the exact same groups. I just flashed Myn's RLS5 and restored a bunch of stuff from Titanium. I'm not blaming myn's rom at all yet though. What have you changed lately? Maybe we can find a link.
EDIT: Figured it out already. It was flashing one of jlechner's lock screens from RLS4 on RLS5. That's in a big com.htc.resources.apk file, so it probably needs to be updated for RLS5. I flashed RLS5 again, added my other mods (including the rosie button mod, which seems fine), wiped cache, but not data. Now all appears to be well.
Hmmm. Yep hadn't even noticed because I wasn't looking at it since wiping and flashing a new version of mikfroyo the problem went away. Huh. Oh well ;-)

I have this same problem... Any idea which mod it was that causes this? I think I flashed the clear notification bar, the clear lockscreen to match rosie, launcher pro, and the rosie mod to add text on the right.
Does a cache wipe fix this? I did a clean install and restored all my data, etc. So it's either a probably with Myn's (doubt it ) or one of the mods??
It's the lockscreen mod for sure. The clear notification bar might be an issue too if it's not designed for RLS5. The Rosie button mod is OK though. Reflash myn's ROM and then wipe cache. You shouldn't need to wipe data.

[Q] Apps Force Closing?

So I flashed the latest CM7 nightly on Sunday, installed from zip. Since then some of my apps have been force closing. Some are google apps like maps, and voice which I need day to day, others like facebook twitter, multiple browsers and engadget. I tried clearing cache, and battery stats as I use different batteries, and fixing permissions. Since then I have flashed CM7 RC 1 and two different MIUI builds, and have had the same problems with those. I haven't installed from titanium backup, just from the market. Any help would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Now even XDA is force closing
I randomly started experiencing a similar problem recently with CM7 RC1... a lot of my apps were randomly force closing including the android core process...
Just now, I decided to wipe and reflash... now I'm having a new issue - the phone is not recognizing the radio.. it says "Baseband version: Unknown"
I can't activate the phone because the second I hit SEND, android.process.acore force closes.
Anyone have any insight?
EDIT: Just wiped and flashed CM7 Nightly build #8 - NO RADIO ISSUES OR FORCE CLOSES SO FAR
I am having similar issues. I am running CM 6.1.0, ClockworkMod 3.0.0.5, and radio 2.15.00.07.28.
I think just about every process has forced close at some point. Frequent offenders are messaging, youtube, and google framework.
Which caches and/or application data should I try clearing?
I am thinking of upgrading to CM7 RC1 but if the corrupted data remains cached will these problems follow me?
Did you wipe dalvik cache? Or possibly try different kernal.
It's back to working at %100 today after flashing CM7 which made my home button not work, then a sense rom.
I have an update on force closes as it pertains to my installation of CM7.
We need to follow the instructions accordingly. What I mean is we need to wipe everything that is suggested in the thread introducing the new ROM.
I couldn't load the new ROM from ROM manager. That is when all the force closes kept happening.
We must go into recovery and format the system, cache, and data from the Mounts and Storage Menu. Then, wipe Dalvik cache, battery stats, cache partition, and data/factory reset. Then install the new .zip from the root of your SD card (Both ROM and Gapps).
This is what worked for me. I have had no force closes since doing things this way.
Also, restore data only from Titanium Backup; else apps revert back to the previous ROM settings.
This may not be exactly the way things are intended by the wonderful developers here but it is what I have found to work.

I read on cyanogen mod forums (thread here: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/15898-app-force-close-on-cm7-rc1/ )
And it was noted that its a known issue, and that re-installing the app worked, or running fix_permissions in terminal.
I installed fresh CM7 RC1, installed a few apps from market, ran fix_permissions and no force closes so far. Might try out the nightly

ok, will try, thank you for now.
Didn't get FC's when you said - try to backup the data then full wipe - data/cache/sd-ext/dalvik cache and re-flash.
Sounds like updated version of market/calendar/sense launcher is causing the trouble.
also try the above mentioned aligning before re-flashing.
did all mentioned above, but decided to go for cyanogen, for now.
thank you all for help.
dik moc.
When I first installed InsertCoin ROM, my People's process kept force closing. Not sure if this is related. And when starting for the first time, quite some number of processes force closed. So what I did was, I installed ROM manager and clicked fix permissions. And restarted the phone, this made everything stable no more force closes.
However!! The people's process still force closes if I access individual contacts information. Because of this, I avoided accessing people's contacts directly. I used workarounds such as using the HTC dialer to filter out names to obtain numbers. I had no problems creating new contacts so I got used to this issue.
My friend asked me to factory reset through settings. I was confused how this will work since I thought that the people's process force closes because of an issue in the ROM (maybe a bug). I was wrong, after factory reset to default, this issue was resolved.
Now Insert Coin Rom is perfect for me. The only thing that does not work correctly is my hibernate. I am having a discussion on that now to obtain more information.
Hmm interesting.will give IC another go. I didnt have any problems you are having. But thank you.

wipe all data user
i dont have problem with this rom
W'ats? I have been using 1.0.8 since the day it was released and I have no problems at all.
I just did full wipe and flashed it...t'at is all..
I'm also using IC 1.0.8 (CM7r2, since it seemed considerably faster) - So far I've had no issues at all, loving it.
Phil
Been using InsertCoin CM7 1.0.8, with cm7r2 hboot for a few days and everything seems fine
Not sure if it's gingerbread, new htc sense or InsertCoin, or all of them but loving the new rom! (only thing that bugs me is that I prefer the old htc weather animations...)
do you wipe all your phone?
i've no problem with ic
yep, i wiped my phone - data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache.
though i sort of take back what I said... having minor problems - no FC, or infinite loadings, but i see my SIM contacts when I hit phone/dialer, even though they have been hidden in the people app. I believe this is causing a second issue with messages being unable to find the right facebook/google avatar.
but other than that, seems to be working fine

[Q] Reboot on unlock after receiving texts.

Hi All,
I have a droid incredible that I was running CM7 on. At some point the phone started rebooting randomly when I pressed the unlock button. This happened a few times a day and I eventually realized that these reboots were only happening when I unlocked the phone after receiving a text.
This didn't happen on all texts, but maybe half or so. I've done the following to try to remedy the problem, but it is still occurring:
- wiped cache/dalvik cache.
- methodically removed app by app, cleared app data.
- removed all phone/rom backups.
- wiped data/factory reset of CM7.
- installed latest MIUI rom.
- wiped data/factory reset of MIUI.
I am currently running a wiped MIUI rom with only the apps that came preloaded on the rom. I feel like I've tried everything and can't figure this out!
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks so much for your help!
It's still happening on MIUI or only on the CM7? Was it a Nightly?
Is messages cache full, or nearly so?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Bull_Moose, I have been using the latest CM7 RC1... never used a nightly. The ROM worked fine for a while and then a few months ago started rebooting after receiving texts. I switched over to MIUI, hoping it would solve my issues...but it didn't.
smtom, Is there a messages cache that can be cleared specifically? I've never seen it. I'm assuming, though, that since I've done several complete wipes of the phone that all caches would have been cleared anyways...
The sheer number of messages, over time, will yield the dreaded low on space notice. This is rendered moot by either backup of messages somewhere using something like SMS Backup +, or deleting threads, and storing your multimedia message attachments to sd or elsewhere. Couple questions : are you restoring messages across or between ROM's? What messaging application are you using?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Hi smtom,
Sorry for the delay. So, I do regularly use SMS Backup and Restore to archive my messages into separate files so that I can occasionally delete all message threads and clear up space.
When I have wiped or switched roms in the past I have always done clean installs, which should clear all message memory, right? I am currently just using whatever SMS app comes preinstalled on MIUI.
My problem with the phone restarting has continued despite all of this... but I wonder if using a 3rd party messaging app could make a difference. Hmmmm.
Ray
RayLJill, have you figured anything out since switching to a 3rd party app? My friend's incredible is getting the random reboots, new sms text messages or not. He is on most current CM7 Nightly after I did a complete wipe/factory reset/format all memory and clean install (he was having this issue on CM7 nighties before i did the clean install, still didn't help i guess)
