I have the DK28 Modem Pit and Froyo installed on my samsung epic. I must have flash this thing 20 billion times. I have never encountered this problem. the other night I went to sleep and then got up to go to work. I didnt receive any calls till my lady called me around 1pm. I could hear her but she couldn't hear me. So I thought it was a bad connection. instinctively, I hung up and called back. still the same thing. Now she has ATT.... so I hung up on her and tried to call another one of my friends that has sprint. they picked up and they could hear me and I could hear them just fine. So then I called my work number to see if I could leave voicemail for myself on my work number I did that a couple of times. that worked fine. So then I called another Friend of mine that has ATT and yeah Wrongg. So then I thought maybe it was me. I flashed my phone with odin1.61 and the PIT SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL with the modem included. Then tried to make another call to my friend again Wrongggg. but I could still make calls to other people. Now I went home from work and thought maybe it was the Froyo and the firmware. so I Flashed it back to DK18. tried to make a call again to my friend thats on ATT low and behold Wronggggg again. So then I called Sprint even though know we both know they know nothing except the obvious. So they walked me through programming my phone with my MSL and handsfree activation tired to make another call Wronggg. so they told me my phone my need to be replaced. so they made me an appointment. I dont really want to have to change my phone if I dont have too. Would any of you guys know whats going on or could shed some light upon this?

I'm unable to receive texts or phone calls. Making calls and using the internet works fine. What can be going on? I've tried calling tech support twice. They reset my phone on the network, but that never really worked. This led them to believe that it has to be a problem with my phone internally. Sometimes, my fine will work randomly. Then I will notice I haven't received a text in awhile, so Ill send myself a text and realize my phone isn't working right again.
One odd thing I noticed is that when I'm on a call, I am able to receive texts. WTF? I tried going to Sprint today and they said my phone passed the "post tests", and since I don't have the insurance plan there is nothing they can really do.
I'm on the stock rom now and I've hard reset plenty.
There has to be some way to fix my phone. Thanks in advance.
Have you tried re flashing the stock rom , there is a update rom out for you phone..btw you do not need to unlock the phone to flash a stock factory rom..go to HTC.com and find your phone and then downloads
http://www.htc.com/us/support
You consider a rom from March an update? I was already on that update. Ill just get another phone.
Well i figured the phone was out of the warranty period when the store said they could not help you..yea i seen you do not have insurance , so with that in mind , i would have thought that the Rom update would be much newer then the current one on the phone....to me it would be worth a shot to try it and see what happens..
But you know better i guess, sorry to try and help you out..
Btw you only stated that you have hard rest, nothing about you have done a Rom update already..sheesh
Thanks for your help. I just went to that site thinking there was something new. Yah, I had to flash back to stock b4 bringing the phone in.
Specs: been rooted for awhile. Currently running end of days rom by magnus. Can't think of anything else thats relevent.
Problem : my phone no longer will call anybody. It says everytime '' cannot make this call at this time, try again later'' doesn't matter who I call it won't go through. It started today as far as I can tell randomly. I have great service and everything else works just fine including 4g and gps.
I tried: nandroid restore of both a sense rom and destroyer (aosp) and also did a factory wipe and re installed my current rom. I also went through the settings to see if I did something dumb. I didn't see anything.
Any ideas would be great, I'm lost without my phone.
I was having trouble receiving calls last night, I think Sprint is working on their network again. Try updating your profile and prl through settings and that may help.

Updated but no difference. I also updated the radio as well, just for the hell of it. No luck
I was having issues with google voice 2 days before so I deleted the account. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but it won't let me make a new account now.
this mite sound dumb but did u pay ur bill?
unless you're having problems on every rom, i'd say look into the prl. i flashed a rom 3 weeks ago that changed the meid on a evo, dont ask me how, but its true. so you might wanna check that also if its been repaired
Lol, yes. Bill has never been late. And I up dated prl and have nandroided back to two different roms. No luck.
I'm having the same problem last outgoing call I was able to make was at 2am. Every call today says call lost. I'm running CM's latest nightly.
Do you have the google voice integration enabled by chance? My wife's EVO without the integration enabled works fine, mine with it enabled I get that unable to place your call at this time message all the time. I spoke with Sprint about it and they were no help. I think it's a google problem. That means good luck getting any support. Google is great until you need support for something.

I fixed mine by flashing a stock rooted rom made a outgoing call worked fine. Then flashed back to CM7 stable and everything is working again.
Myself and three others are experiencing the same issues with our GS3's and was wondering if anyone else has had these issues.
1. When trying to place a call most times it tries to dial then hangs up and goes to the lock screen.
2. When #1 does not happen it take 3-4 times of retying the number before actually ringing. Tried from different towers same thing
3. The keyboard does not keep up with the typing it often takes a while for it to work
4. When tethering with paid subscription and I try to place a call the data stops working.
Anyone else have these issues?

Very interesting that you bring this up. I recently have been suffering from the following:
1.) When trying to place a call it tries to dial and hangs up. I usually have to try 3 times before I can get the call to go through or have to soft reset
2.) A LOT of my friends have told me that when they try and call me it will only go through about half of the time. Sometimes the get "The ATT customer is unavailable", other times it will just beep at them, and finally it will go through but not ring on my phone.
3.) Same keyboard issue. I found that if I turned off all the auto correct and predictive text that it helped, but I will still get a lag issue once in a while.
Comments- I thought it was just my original GS3 that was starting to crap out so I did a warranty exchange, and the same symptoms keep happening. I also got a new SIM card, but that has not helped out either. One AT&T Tech rep told me there were major tower issues in my area, but then another I spoke to said there were none.
Now I dont know if I should ask for a new GS3, go to a different phone or what.
Yup. My keyboard freezes up once in a while, also I get " unfortunately music player has stopped" while connected through bluetooth. I usually just re open music player and it works fine.

Yeah, we all have the same issue when people try to call us and they get "The ATT customer is unavailable". Also one more thing I forgot to mention is that I sometimes try to call a number and get a pop up that says Emergency Calls only.
Not sure what to do at this point but getting very frustrating.
I've definitely had the keyboard lag pop up. Only solution I've found is to turn off the phone and back on. It seems to do OK for a few days then at least.
just got back from an ATT store. A girl there confirmed that its related to the JB update for the GS3 and for the Note 2. She has the Note 2 and said its much better than the issues with the GS3 but it still has inbound and outbound calling issues. It has to do with how the phone (maybe modem related) switches from LTE to 4g.
Customer service offered to send me a Note 2 for $100 and let me keep my GS3. I might do that and sell which ever I dont like better.
Yeah I went to the ATT store as well and was told that this is a known issue and that Samsung is working on a fix but there is no ETA. Wish they offered me a Note 2 for $100.

It seems that the switching between LTE and 4G due to a call is causing multiple issues. From what I have seen issues extend not just to these problems but also random battery plummets for some. The "switch" somehow does not work correctly hardware wise for some phones. Under JB it seems to break at times for receiving and making phone calls. I hope they find a way to make LTE work as a voice line as well and update accordingly so the switch does not have to occur.
So, I got a phone for a friend off Craigslist. Clean ESN, great shape, good to go! I Odin-d it over to the GA10 JB leak and got him all set up with it. However....no one that calls in shows on the caller ID. It's understandably frustrating for him, because he can't return any missed calls if no one leaves a message.
I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of. I installed a call record mod, no dice. Installed stock JB phone app. No worky. Flashed over to ICS. Nada. Flashed back to GB. STILL NO WORK! Went the OTA update route all the way from GB to the latest ICS build....nope, still doesn't work.
I have no idea if this was a current problem with the phone, because the guy I bought it off of won't answer any texts. The Sprint tecs also said that Caller ID was turned on for his number, so I don't think it's from their end either.
Anyone have an idea?
Hey All,
So, I'm having a weird issue with my T-989. I get intermittent audio loss upon making and receiving calls. Refer to the following examples:
Call comes in; I swipe to answer..."Hello...Hello...Hello....-__-" I can not hear the person on the other end of the call and they are un able to hear me. I've asked countless people that call me on a daily basis on their experience when this happens. They say the call connects but no audio; they then get confused and hang up if I don't end the call my self. Normally I'm the one that ends the call now and I'll call back....sometimes I hear ringing and I know that it'll work ok.
Sometimes, the call log counter starts....but I hear no ringing, HOWEVER the person I'm calling is actually being called and tries to answer the phone...but because I don't hear the ringing...I don't even realize that the phone has established a connection.
Sometimes....everything works fine. I'll answer the phone and it'll work like a charm or I'll make a call and it'll work like a charm. Two hours later...same weird issue.
I wanted to know if people had similar problems.
It's getting increasingly annoying at this point. At first I thought maybe it was my service. Then I thought it was my ROM / Radio. Honestly, I know people who have the same service and plan as me.
Phone is running P.A.C 22.0.1
This issue happened on older versions of which I completed wiped and re installed newer versions of P.A.C; it happened on AOKP; happened on Paranoid Android.....
I'm guessing the only thing I haven't tried changing is the Radio that comes with each ROM.
I am on the T-Mobile Pre Paid Unlimited Talk / Text w/ 500mb Data plan. [I work in data centers, unlimited INTERWEBS!]
Anyone else have similar symptoms? I'll be getting the S4 soon, but I wanted to resolve this issue before hand because I'll be giving it to a friend.
Thanks in advance for any help! :victory::highfive:
I have been living that same issue for months, between several ROMs and kernels and radios. Ive learned to use this process......answer call, wait 3 seconds, then saying "hello". I know, its silly.
I have noticed its seems worse when answering calls from others running aosp (cm10)roms.
I've have not tried any touchwiz ROMs

Waiting 3 seconds and then saying hello works? For me the issue happens when placing calls as well. I installed the newest P.A.C last night when I posted the OP, so far no problems. I'll update again if I have any issues moving forward.
What radio are you using?
Now - UVMC6
As I said, as of yet, I haven't had any issues. Let's see over the next couple of days....
