Volume - button not working well - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I'm having an issue with my Desire, where I have to push down very hard on the volume - button for it to work properly. Volume + is fine though. Should I take my phone back to Telstra to have it fixed/replaced? I haven't dropped the phone at all, so I don't know why the volume down button isn't working properly.
Swyped from my HTC Desire running LeeDrOiD 2.3d with Tapatalk.

Same here with volume +, had this problem after 2 months of use. Doesn't bother me much nor gotten worst since then.

Hi BodenM
What did you do for the volume down button?
Did you sent it for repair
My button does not work as well
I am debating if I have to send it for repair of if somehow I can fix it myself

I have the same issue. Did you send it to repair? Was it fixed?

Desire stuck in bootloader mode

Hi, i wondered if someone here can help me with my htc desire, i purchased it like this by the way. When i insert the battery and power the device it goes straight into bootloader mode but im unable to select the options using the volume button, is there a way to exit this mode? or is it possible i can use the volume keys of the handsfree headset (i dont have) in case the phones volume buttons are faulty?
Here below is a pic ive taken:

Your input would be highly appreciated, thanks!
Have you removed battery and try booting up again?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
hi, yes i have, as soon as i put the battery in and press power it automatically goes into bootloader mode without even holding the back key, which is puzzling..
Did you buy it from a shop? Take it back if so. Is there any movement in the volume buttons or ate they stuck down?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It could be that it has water damage and that is causing the volume down to be pressed by itself all the time..
i compared the volume buttons with a working desire and they feel exactly the same
Is this a new phone?
If so - return it.
This happened to my phone too, which was bought new. Looking around it does appear to be a hardware problem and needs to be sent back for repair/replacement.

[Q] Screwed? Volume rocker not working to get to the bootloader

Strange things happen on a Saturday morning. I found my volume go up randomly without me pressing the rocker and my volume down button was not working. For some reason, I thought this might be a software issue and went ahead to flash a new Energy Rom....but here's where it gets twisted:
Task 29'ed the device...and now, the phone is stuck at the splash screen and I can't get to the bootloader cuz apparently, the volume down button is actually not working. One solution is obviously to check for hardware issues...but I won't be able to do it for a couple of days. I was wondering if there might be a beacon of hope to somehow enter the bootloader without using the volume rocker.

[Q] Power button not working

I have just had the unfortunate wake up of my Desire power button not working, wonderful way to start the day.
I'm going to take it down to Telstra today and try and get it fixed under warranty, I don't believe that I have dropped it or let any water into it, but I'm worried that they'll say there is water damage and it won't be fixed under warranty (I found a few forums saying similar things)
What I'm hoping is an app or hack that will allow me to use another button as the power button. It is rooted (T-Mod) but I can't get into the bootup screen as I can't hold the power and volume button.
Any ideas or am I stuffed?

[Q] Volume button problems

Hello and good morning,
I have bought my HTC Desire HD 5 months aggo, and my volume button has been messing me up alot. I didnt care at first cause it would sometimes just ignore my press on button +/- and sometimes it would work. But now it's rly annoying, I have to push button so hard just to increase or decrease volume of my HTC.
So my question is:
- Is it a bigger hardware problem or just the plastic button?
- how long would i aprox be out of phone if i take it to warranity (got 2 year)?
- has anyone had this problem before and solved it?
p.s the phone has never hit ground, no repairs, no roots. nothing. same as it came from factory.

HTC 10 unresponsive - screen or on/off button problem?

Hello,
I have a problem with a family member's HTC 10. Today their phone somehow got stuck with a black unresponsive screen, as if the LCD and the touch matrix (sp?) were both dead. It wouldn't restart after pressing on/off + volume button (tried with both volume buttons alternately). When pressing home, the back button and the other one would light up as usual, but it didn't turn on the phone, and neither did the on/off button.
The on/off button seemed kinda stuck halfway, and it usually has a smaller press/unpress "distance" than the one on my own HTC 10, so I'm guessing it was due to a stuck button. Said family member loves taking screenshots and complains that the button works poorly.
Is this a stuck button problem? Is this fixable or should we throw away the phone and buy a new one? The phone started working normally on its own after a few hours, but obviously this is something that needs to be fixed.
Thanks for reading, any help will be much appreciated!
Edit: It was all hardware problems, ended up taking it to the shop and getting parts replaced, works fine now.
