A newb needs kind of help - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Im really really new to this and i wanted to ask which is a good rom to start with. The lee-droid, cyanogen or one of neophytes?

There is no good rom to start. It all depends on what you want. If you make an ext partition on your sd card you can flash any rom that you want. And if you don't like it change to an other.

Teppic47's stock rooted ROM, same as stock but you can add features if you want them. Good start to rooted life

Yea i tried to make a sdcard-ext but it didnt work how i wanted it...gotta try again when iam at home.
Could u give me a link to his roms eddy?

Use search next time:

[Q] Flashing the First Rom after Root Device

Hi,
I already rooted my Desire and i want to know if i can now flash any rom. Or i have to do anything else first, like partion sd card, etc?
And which roms u guys recommend?
Thanx
Fail...
Do some research, questions like this are asked FAR too many times.
Which ROM to use? Try them for yourself, what works for one person might not for the next. It depends what you want out of it...
As for EXT partitions, only needed if you plan on using A2SD+ (and if the ROM you're looking at supports it)
Ok.
I'm gonna try some of them.
Thanx

Upgrade ROM - im new to this.

Hi everyone, i would have searched but the problem is i dont know what im looking for.
I want to change my rom to a diffferent one which i can obviously find. But my question is.. i want to theme it too but dont i need to find the rom thats in an update.zip? Or something like that?
Or do i just adb to my pc then repackage what ive made changes to in the rights dirs into an update.zip and sign it and flash it?
Sorry i didnt know where to ask but i thought this would be the best place.

Hi.
I'm a noob at this myself, and i flashed my Desire yesterday. First of all you have to root your phone to do anything (at least I think so) and thats just so easy with unrEVOked.. And flashing radio and ROM is very easy too, just take a look at the turorials on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
VERY NICE and easy to understand =)
I rooted my origional rom with revoked which was easy (and scary!) But fine.
So i think i need. De-odexed rom so i can theme everything in it.
So.. to theme bits in my rom do i?:
Adb the files to my pc, edit and repackage them into apk?
Then sign it and reinstall it or do if i have multiple files keep the file structure and package as an update.zip and flash it using the boot menu optiong..thing lol

As the saying goes, learn to walk before you run
If you're new to rooting and the like then you shouldn't even be thinking about theming until you have a sound knowledge of flashing ROMs and adb. Go read up whatever you can find on Google and once you know flashing a ROM back to front then look into theming and other such activities

EddyOS is correct.
Try to find out about flashing a custom ROM first.
I suggest to begin with LeeDroids ROM first, since this ROM is relatively safe for newbies.

New to HTC Desire HD

Hi guys, first off im a user of Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 and swapped it to a 2nd hand HTC Desire HD. To make it short, i want to learn every single thing about this device as how i knew my beloved SGSL. I've read almost all guides for newbies and it helps me alot.
Just want to clarify these questions of mine.
1. What is RUU?
2. A little confused about hboot/fastboot. Cause in my past device there is only Recovery and Download mode wherein in Recovery you wipe cache/dalvikflash custom rom through zip and Download mode is needed when flashing stock rom using ODIN.
3. We use Odin in my SGSL in flashing stock roms. How about here?
4. Is there an internal to external SD swap here? So datas of games will go to external sd card?
5. I want my HTC HD in stock AGAIN. What should i check first before doing anything? After checking whats next?
6. Cant find a list of stock roms here? What do you guys use? the codename like DDLF2 XXKPQ like that.
I'm really sorry. I know you how i feel now, im feeling excited while making this thread at the same time nervous of negative comments and a feeling of unwelcomed in this community. Please bare with me, not a SO NOOB in android and i am a fast learner. Thanks and Godbless to everyone!

Please welcome me?

Anyone? Please held a hand?
Have you read the Ace Think Tank thread OP? If not, I advise that you do so. Come back if you still have questions.
EDIT: please also only bump once every 24 hours under XDA rules.
Yes ive understand though still have quesions unanswered there. I now understand that RUU is the app used to go back to stock firmware right. So, should i use that first sir? coz i want to start from gingerbread stock and learn everything up ahead. Im from Philippines so maybe i should use latest WWE RUU? Is there no pre requisites in doing this? Thanks for the response. Appreciated.

What are the right steps into installing a custom rom?

Hi guys, first of all I really appreciate the work you guys do for the community.
Anyway, after being an iPhone user for a few years I finally switched back to android and I want to install a custom rom for my OnePlus 3
Im a total noob to this, but I know what should be done, but I can't seem to understand the order jn which these steps should be taken. Sorry if theres already a thread.
Should I root my phone first?
Can I backup apps and all the settings so I can restore them after installing the custom rom? Titanium bavjup needs phone to be already rooted, so how does that work?
Thank you very much.
Why do you want to flash a custom rom? If u havent unlocked your bootloader yet ur ****ed since unlocking it wipes your device. Without root making a good backup is hard. Anyways this guide will help you. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Oneplus+3+bootloader
Instructions on how to flash a custom ROM are more or less always stated in the first post of the thread...just take a look there.
Btw, there's also a nice thread here on XDA explaining most of the things you need to know http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/oneplus-3-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t3398733.
