but don't know what to do? I originally downloaded from XDA
but don't know how to search for it again .
Can anyone point me to the URL or tell me how to rebuild it myself?

Hey in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701004
Is there an alternative download link for w.e that file is on step 29 because the link dosent seem to work for me any help would be great!
You might want to watch out.
That guide has an old ROM that it requires you to flash. The old version has SD card problems.
Make sure you get an updated ROM... there are some with the OTA update.
Otherwise, I don't know about the update.zip file.
Thanks for the Info I just want to put a aosp like Rom on here after I am done but I need to finish it says I am rooted is that zip the recovery thing? Ugh this is frustrating. Lol
EDIT: the link says recovery-clockwork 1.8.1.7 is there another place to dl that file

Look around this and the DEV forum. There's a sticky somewhere with the list of ROMS and more information on rooting and whatnot.
How to create a zip file that can be flashed via cwm recovery.. I am trying to modify a rom for my personal needs and wnt to create an update.zip package to flash it.. but when i create a zip file using 7z it does not get flashed..
Consider i'm a noob.. I want you to spoonfeed me and tell everything step by step and also what happens in each step.. if you want to tell me something about updater scripts please elaborate and tell coz i didnt understand a bit from some thread i visited..

But I could not understand those scripts can you please tell me what those scripts actually do..
Like the title says, can someone create a flashable file from the .img of the new CWM release?
If possible, someone could create a thread in the ATT development section (and keep it updated?), with the new CWM recovery files(flashable versions)? It would be helpful to a lot of people I guess. I would have done it if I knew how to do it :silly: . I would really appreciate if someone could do it. Thanks.
Hey guys, I've been trying to flash a new radio, but somehow never succeeded.
The attachment is a screenshot I've taken....
What am I missing??
You are missing an old recovery compatible with that flashable zip...
Extract the radio img file from that zip file and flash via fastboot.
via xda app

Use google and the search function on xda. Im on my mobile so its hard to search stuff for you. Besides its been answered before. Also check the link on my signature. I believe it has the instruction in there.

1. Pull out the radio.img file from the zip file.
2. adb reboot bootloader
3. fastboot flash radio radio.img
4. Reboot the phone.
Thanks for your help guys!!!

Hello
I am trying to install a custom rom and kernal on my xpeia play for the first time. My plays boot loader is unlocked fine and I've downloaded all the software that is required and so far have been using fma965's guide.
I get up to the 'Extract the Fastboot package to a folder and copy the CKernel.img file to the same location." I just can't find a .img in the kernals zip folder .
The kernal I have downloaded was from cyanogen mods website and is titled "semc-kernel-msm7x30-ics.zip"
Thanks

Rrrr Thats not correct. Search for CyanogenMod on xperia play development thread use that u can download the ROM-(zeus or zeusc(r800x)).zip inside you will have boot.img thats what you want.
Ok now to explain what was wrong. CM dont officially support our devices so FXP are the ones who build CM for our us. They use CM source and everything else as they are members. Our device cant flash kernels as .zip only .img. You can also find custom kernels in the dev thread if u dont want to use FXP's kernel..
