I'm not going to say it because I think it's pretty obvious, but look at the wiki stickied in the development section. This is themes and apps, it has nothing to do with the questions that you are asking.

Hello all
I have just rooted my desire using unrevored3. I did a very short research (as I was l8 for work) and got few ROMs.
My question is about data and CM7 as well as one other.
On the ROM topics I could see that CM7 want me to download latest radio, do I need it? And one other ROM gave a kerneldownload link (either villan or oxygen cannot rember) and again do I need it?
I have a desire gsm in uk rooted with clookwork orange recovery (or however it was spelled).
I don't want to loose my data.
If I doubble posted, or it is all explained I'm sorry (again work), and you can remove or point me in a direction to check.
I'll do my best to catch up with research tonight, untill than thank you all for help.
Regards
Kirior

1. It could be that you need a newer radio. But I can't tell from here. If everything works there is no need to upgrade. Flashing a radio won't do anything with your rom, so you won't lose any data.
2. You should do a little more searching about what a kernel does. You can always try a different kernel but you don't have to. Some kernels have a lower batterie drain then others, but not every phone likes it.
Hope this helps a bit. Just search a little bit more about the subjects and then just try it Always make a nandroid so can you restore your rom just in case.
Hi
Thanks for your reply m8.
As I planned after work I did more reading and research and got my answers. Now I have a new question.
As I was looking through all the ROMs CM7 requires a special HBOOT and partition table.
I read about HBOOT a little, and general idea is better hardware support and improvements. Now will this brick my phone or is it secure to use? Will it work with any other ROMs or just this one? If I flash this and than letg say oxygen will it replace HBOOT or will it stay the same or maybe brick everything?
If someone could help me here I would be gratefull.
As well as all this I have just realized that when I am in recovery it says:
E: cannot load recovery/command
E: cannot find MISC
And 2 more simmilar lines (recovery/log and misc again)
When I try to do backup in recovery it comes back with an erros as well.
All help would be greatly appricated!

There are a lot of good AOSP roms. You just need to test it yourself. You can start with Gingervillain and then try a few others. There is an index thread where all the roms are sorted.
Fastest a rom can get. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=968504

HI all
I have a quick question.
When i was scrolling through all the posts in few threads related to AOSP builds some people were saying something about Oxygen HBOOT for some builds and similar stuff so i was just wandering is i can use mine aplharev 1.8 HBOOT S-OFF for all flashing purposes without any fears of bricking or i need different HBOOTs for different ROMs, that is what confuse me :/.
Thanks you all in advance

HI all,
Now i have a question about kernels, which i should use to get the best from my battery??
Or maybe someone can explain me simply and clearly what are the differences between different kernels?
Thank you all in advance for any replies.

Hello,
Long time lurker, not much of a poster.
Anyway - I was wondering if there are any guides or if anyone could give me some pointers on how to create a deodexed version of stock ROM?
What kind of effort is required to accomplish this?
Thank you in advance.

I've started looking into using dsixda's Android Kitchen to accomplish this. Will this method work? I'll report back after I play around with it some.

yes. it works fine. that's what most people use. there are stock deodexed versions out already. no need to repeat what has already been done unless you just want to learn.

Unfortunately my friend this is not a hold my hand and guide me forum. You need to do some reading and learning like the rest of us. We all had to do it and we all were new at this once. So please read and search then read and search some more before you end up coming back to us requesting help to fix your phone.
Never attempt anything without some kind of basic knowledge of what you are trying to do.
To get anything higher than 2.3.7 means you have to go custom rom like JB or ICS. So my first advice to you would be reading up on how to get your bootloader unlocked since its a DHD. If its an inspire then read up on rooting if its still supported.
Good luck and enjoy the learning.

I agree...
To op. Please look through the forums, people have already done lots and lots of work already for you, creating guides and tools and roms and recoveries.
Now I don't want to sound mean, but at the end of the day your going to have to do all the work rooting and flashing yourself, this stuff is not easy for beginners (noobs) your going to have to do some reading and learning.
However this does not mean that some one is not going to help you after you've learned some skills.
