If you were trying to temp root, then I'm assuming you still have the OEM software from T Mobile. If so, then try the instructions from the link below if all else fails. You're going to have to remove the sd card and place the update.zip file onto it using another method of course. Make sure you put the update.zip file onto the root of the sd card and not in any folder before you put it back into the G2. The update.zip file can be downloaded from here. It's also linked in the instructions posted on that page as well.

Desire broken?

Hi,
I flashed a modified framework-res.apk I got from the emulator (using the new Gingerbread) and flashed it to Oxygen 1.0. I have a GSM, AMOLED Desire.
Now my sdcard doesn't get recognized anymore and the device isn't able to connect to O2 Germany. When I try to connect the phone to my PC (Windows) I get a message that Windows wants to install a "Qualcomm CDMA technologies MSM" driver.
I still can boot the phone up, I can get into recovery (AmonRa 2.0.0) and fastboot.
Can anyone help me?
Flash a stock ROM - ignore the Windows driver thing, that's to do with a modem if you Google it. Why you'd take something from Gingerbread and try it on FroYo is beyond me - super rookie mistake right there!!

1. It only was the framework-res.apk and I only took the images from it.
2. I don't have access to my sdcard. Is it still possible to flash a stock ROM?
Try flashing a rom via fastboot.

As you are on o2 Germany, grab this RUU:
http://www.o2online.de/nw/support/downloads/software/htc/htcdesire/htc-desire.html
and reroot via unrevoked, gonna delete everything on your device but should work, you might want to take your sd card out of the phone before doing this just in case anything weird happens ;-)
best regards
That's the same as the o2 UK RUU on shipped-roms.com, would also mean no gold card needed to flash it
How can I get the ROM image as zip file? Is it the OTA update.zip?
Edit: Read the next post, some genius information, learned sth new there : >
If you're talkin bout my solution there is no way to get the zip, simply install HTC sync (yes, you have to -.-), fire up the executable and follow the on screen instructions.
It's the full RUU. To get the PB99IMG.zip from it do the following:
1. Run the RUU
2. Once you get to the first screen of the RUU, move it to the bottom of your screen and go to Start>Run and type
%temp%
And click OK
3. Browse to the newest folder created in the Temp folder
4. In the folder will be a ZIP file called Rom - copy this to your Desktop
5. Rename thr ZIP file to PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip) and copy it to the root of your SD card
6. Turn your phone on whilst holding volume down and follow the instructions
I think you don't have to flash a RUU rom. Flashing for example oxygen via fastboot again should do the trick.

Better to flash stock again to get everything working again then root again

I have the nandroid .img files of my system before I got those problems. Would it be possible to flash those somehow via fastboot?
For that method I said you do NOT need FASTBOOT. So long as you can connect you SD card to your PC to copy the ZIP file to it and turn your phone on into HBOOT then you'll be fine. If, and it's a big if, it doesn't read the card then yes you'll have to use FASTBOOT and an RUU - you don't need HTC Sync for that

It's now updating. I hope it doesn't matter that I have removed the hboot- and splash-image from the zip-file.

Removed them from what? The PB99IMG.zip? Why on earth would you do that?!?!?! It's going to brick your phone!!
Just flash back to stock and start again

Currently it's just a piece of hardware that is only capable of using WiFi. I can't damage it more. But maybe you're right. I will install the unchange zip file.
But it would be interesting to know what went wrong. Why does using images from the Gingerbread emulator framework-res.apk for a FroYo ROM leads to such an result?
Because the rest of the ROM isn't Gingerbread. It's completely different. It's like me taking a customised framework file and trying to use it on a stock ROM. It doesn't work
Just go back to stock and start again. That way you know you've got a clean base to start from

[Q] Does anyone have/know where to get the stock sense rom for an htc evo?

My phone is currently running the fresh rom and i want to return it to stock sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060&highlight=shipped+roms
im not sure if this is a bad question or not
which one of the links exactly do i need to go back to stock sense? thanks again.
What hardware version do you have and what version of stock rom came on your phone?
Try this one first. Download it and rename it by deleting everything but PC36IMG. Put the PC36IMG on the root of your sdcard. Power off your phone, then boot into bootloader by pressing volume down and power at the same time and hold it until a screen pops up. It will scan your sd card for PC36IMG and when it finds it, it will verify. It will ask if you want to install the update and choose yes. Let it do it's thing then when it asks you to reboot choose yes and you will be back at stock. DO NOT INTERUPPT THE PROCESS OF THE UPDATE. Sometimes it will reboot during the update and this is normal. Let it finish. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MUSAURP7
I had the latest update
with swype and everything installed. when i go back to stock will i be able to recieve android updates again, lets say if they update the evo to 2.3 would my phone receive the update?
Yes. That link is the latest stock update with swype and everything. Pure stock. No modifications or anything.
how do i add the file to the root of my sd card?
Download the file and either plug the phone into the computer and choose disk drive or take the card out and plug it into your computer and put the file on your sdcard. Root of your sdcard means not in any folder or anything. It should just be a zip file on your sdcard. Also, there is a step by step guide to unrooting. Just search the dev section for unroot and find the thread and follow the instructions, except use the PC36IMG download I gave you instead of the one in the thread. If you follow that guide you will have s-on again and be fully unrooted and you will have to root again if you ever want to flash a custom rom.
Link 1 and 2 are both the latest stock ROM, 3.70. Link 1 is an .exe file used to restore your device via PC. Link 2 is a PC36IMG file which is flashed right from your phone. The rest of the links just go backwards towards the oldest version of the EVO's software.
so if i use my phone to dl link 2 it will automatically flash itself?
Here is a link to the guide to unrooting. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141&highlight=unroot
GOOD Luck my friend. I have to go now, but there are many people smarter and better at this stuff than me on here that will be willing to help if you run in to any problems.
No dude link 2 you will have to put on the root of your sdcard. Link 1 on the shipped roms link I gave you is an .exe that you can download to your computer, plug in your phone(make sure HTC Sync is installed) and run the .exe and follow the steps on the computer to go back to stock. Putting the .zip on your sdcard is the more failproof way, but if you want the easy way try the .exe first. It will not hurt your phone if it fails.
i kinda wish i had read this last post. i went to the guide to unroot and clicked the pc36img to dl. used the barcode scanner. it opened my rom manager asked me if i wanted to back up my previous rom or wipe and instal, so i backed up what i had just to be safe. now its in clockwork mod recovery atm, i think installing the stock rom but im new with all of this so im not exactly sure...
Yes. Download the file using your phones browser. Once finished you'll need to rename it to PC36IMG. Next you move the file to the root of your SD card, meaning not in any folder. Turn your phone off. Once off, hold volume down and then hit the power button. The phone will scan your SD card and find the PC36IMG file. When asked to update press volume up to begin the process. Your back to stock.
its asking me to confirm the install and says THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE. do i hit yes????????
Both instructions (pc and via phone) are easy. For the absolute beginner though my method is gonna be easier. Do you have a file explore on your device? If not go to the market and get one. Use the file explorer to rename and move the PC36IMG file. Shut your phone off. Volume down & power button. Your finished.
i am in like the bootloader.atm should i reboot my phone? or should i install the file?
Now your confusing me lol. Honestly for everyone's sanity just follow one of our instructions. The pc method is easy too just takes a bit longer
Ok your in bootloader. Did it scan your card and file the file? If yes than proceed with the update. Volume up for yes
ahhhh im sorry man... this is what i did.. i went to that unrooting link... it had the unrevoked stuff and then a link to 4shared to dl the pc136img zip. so i downloaded the zip using the qr code with my phone. it opened the rom manager. asked me if i wanted to wipe my phone or backup everything before the install. i chose to back up. my phone went into the bootloader and backed everything up. now its giving me an option to apply the update, the pc136img, but when i do it it gives me a warning saying THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE. so should i just back out and reboot the phone or am i on the right track with this and should just hit yes?

[Q] Flashing derire...problem

Hi,
Whenever i try flashing htc desire with alpharev cd method...i get an error as soon as my device is found..sumthing like cmd.exe not found
please help..
HTC DESIRE..with android 2.2 rooted with unrevoked 3.2
please guide
Do i need to put the bravo_alphaspl.img file in my ph first and then try the cd method..
or first i have to go thru the cd method
then palce the img file on my ph and use it thru boot loader??
please guide as i am totally confused and i dont want to brick my ph
Is your phone in USB-Debug-Mode and connected with "only charge/ never ask for connection mode" to your computer?
Maybe it's because htc sync is installed?, i've never heard of that error before..

With the alpharev cd method you start computer from a cd with a linux-live-system, which was only made for s-off. So your OS installed on harddisk does not start at all. Therefore HTC Sync, which is usually installed on windows, or rather any program installed on your computer is unable to disturb.

You just download the alpharev iso to your hard drive, burn it to CD and boot from that, following on screen instructions.
I had a problem with "device not recognised or unsupported at this time" and I wonder if yours is similar. I had stock sense 2.2, rooted with unrevoked 3.3.2.
As soon as I flashed a rooted, non-sense rom (oxygen as it happens), it worked first time!
I have tried almost evrything..still i am not able to make alpharev work for me..
I dont want to flash a new rom..cos the only thing i want is some extra internal space by deleting some system apps..
so is it possible to re-root my ph using unrevoked 3.32 ( as it provides s-off and nand unlock which will allow me to install bb) from unrevoked 3.2 directly
or should i first unroot unrevoked 3.2 and then root it with 3.32
You have rooted your phone with unrevoked right? So you must have a revovery-system. Do the following:
1.) Download an AOSP-Rom like oxygen or defrost (which i used without any problems)
2.) Copy the zip on your sd-card
3.) Reboot your phone into recovery
4.) Do a complete nandroid backup
5.) Do a full wipe (nandroid backup won't get deleted)
6.) Flash downloaded AOSP-Rom
7.) Reboot phone completely
8.) S-Off your phone with alpharev by following the steps on the screen after booting your computer with the downloaded cd
9.) Boot your phone completely
10.) Reboot your phone into recovery
11.) Restore nandroidbackup
12.) Reboot phone
13.) Have fun with S-OFF and your previous rom
I did it so a few days ago and it worked properly without any problems ;-)

Finally i was able to complete the flashing part with livecd method..
thanks ppl for the help
now i have another noooooob ques..
why do i have to flash hboot with bravo_alphaspl.img??
what is the use of it??
and how to do it??
i placed the img file in the root of my sd card and tried to access it in the fastboot mode but i didnt find ""flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img"" option there
so what am i doing wrong??
also i did a nandroid backup..now how should i check the md5sum generated in the backup??
another thing...i rechecked the system folder properties through es file explorer..and it still says that the folder is not writable?? and still i am not able to install bb in my device...
Download the .img file
Then download Android Flasher
Then select HBOOT and choose the partition table you have.
What's the use of it? I think it was explained a million times in various threads/ROM threads etc. - shortly more internal memory for apps (ROM dependant).
You have to check the root exlorer- option in the settings of es datei explorer. But it only works for CM and HIAPK- rom... imho you have to buy root explorer to get the best root exploring.

Trying to install a custom ROM

Hey,
Basically, I've got a HTC Wildfire with HBoot 1.0.0.2 - s-off was already disabled by stock.
I first of all tried to root with revolutionary, this attempt failed and it booted back up into a red triangle with an exclamation mark - pulled the battery out and all was fine again, booting into android. Realised later that this was due to being on 2.2.1
Then I tried rooting with Gingerbreak, it gave me a failed message and say it might just be the fact that it failed to restart - rebooted the phone and superuser was installed so it appears to have worked
ok so, installed custom rom manager and tried to install clockworkmod, it appears to have installed but when I click boot from clockworkmod it reboots and goes back into the red triangle?
any ideas to what might be going wrong, i think theres a problem with the clockworkmod installation
THANKS
Get a PC49IMG.Zip of a CWM Recovery version you want from here: (Point #6), place on SDCard, and reboot into HBoot. It will install CWM, then try selecting Recovery again in HBoot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12782368&postcount=2
I am assuming by "s-off was already disabled by stock" you mean you ARE S-OFF.
It says S-OFF on the top of HBoot, so I would presume that it was disabled from factory
I put the .zip on the SD card, and booted HBoot - it did it's scan for files at startup but did not find the zip on the sd card? does it have to be in a particular place on the SD (PC49IMG.ZIP)
It's saying not found or wrong image - Im trying to use ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.0 - Click here for PC49IMG ZIP and its on the root of the sd card
I hope you clicked the right part of the link. Clockworkmod v5.0.2.0 and Click here for PC49IMG ZIP link to two different files. Try downloading the right hand side file (Which is a file named PC49IMG.zip), place that on your sd card and try again.
It should not be in any folder / sub-folder on your sd. Just place it as it is.

[Q] htc evo 4g stuck in bootloop

My htc evo 4g is stuck in a bootloop. I can access bootloader and recovery, I have stock recovery, I have root but also s-on. I properly flashed digital karma over a month ago, only thing I did previous to this event was download two new roms, one was gangnam-style, i think it was jelly bean, i was planning on deleting and not flashing zip. and the other was an ics rom which i was planning to flash, but i was tired and went to bed to do another time. the next day i was working and my phone was in my back pocket and must have shut down or bumped it. when i tried to reboot, it was in this loop. i tried a hard reset. and wiped everything. no luck. i tried flashing my other roms to no avail. but the classic rom loaded up to the lock screen which took forever and then started the loop.
so its in a bootloop and getting to recovery takes forever but i can get there. i was wondering about this pcmg.. zip i have read about. sounded like that might work but can i put it to the root of my sd card with it in my phone or do i need a card reader?? or RUU, or any help would be appreciated. i still don't know how to access my sd card from the usb to computer, i hardly use computers. we own a dell with windows 8.
If you can get into recovery and bootloader, you're golden
Connect your phone to your computer while in bootloader, then go into your recovery. In recovery and bootloader you use the volume keys to navigate and Power button to select
Once there hit "mounts and storages" > "mount usb storage" and your sdcard should show up on your computer
Now go online and find a PC36IMG.zip for any android version, preferably froyo (android 2.2) if you want to root again
Once you get that zip, put it on the root of your sdcard and make sure its named properly (not PC36IMG.zip.zip by accident)
After that, hit the back option in recovery and exit all the way to the main screen and select "power off" or a similar option
Now boot up your phone into bootloader and follow the prompts to flash the stock firmware!
Steps to extract PC36IMG.zip from an RUU (if you cant find a PC36IMG.zip quickly)
Download an RUU and open it, stop once it opens
Open a "Run...." window (shortcut is WinKey + R, idk about Windows 8 though I use 7)
In that window type in "%temp%" (no quotes) and hit enter
Sort the files by date modified and browse through the folders till you find one that has a "rom.zip" file
Copy the "rom.zip" to your directory and close the RUU
Rename the "rom.zip" to "PC36IMG.zip" and follow steps above
EDIT: Try the above, I'm not sure if it will work with S-ON though, If it doesn't, try the steps below
Ok so find the PC36IMG using the steps above, then connect your phone to your computer while in bootloader and select the "fastboot" option
If you don't have the "fastboot.exe" program, get it from somewhere lol (HTCDev has it, I can upload it too if really necessary)
Now extract the PC36IMG.zip and copy the "fastboot.exe" to the directory where you extracted the ZIP
Then for every file in there do the following "fastboot flash "
Now if you get here, post again lol
ok, its getting late and I keep hitting the wrong key and having to re-type everything. so short and sweet. plan A.. fail.. plan b, need more thorough directions. I right clicked and extracted pc36img files and downloaded fastbootexe. tried copying it to the folder and following your directions, but I need more guidance. I appreciate your time. thanks.
No problem
Ok so, can you attach a screenshot of that folder where you extracted the PC36IMG.zip?
And connect your phone to your computer in fastboot mode (boot into bootloader > fastboot option) and run the following command and then attach a screenshot of that too please
Code:
fastboot oem listpartition
