[Q] Onscreen keyboard sound - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running CM7 n7 and I was wondering there was a way for me to be able to set keyboard sounds like on the iphone? Not for the physical keyboard but for the actual on screen keyboard. Im using the gingerbread stock keyboard and was wondering if this was possible.

Im not sure if you want to enable the sounds or change them?
if you want to enable it settings>language & keyboard >android keyboard
and for changing the sounds i cant find any options
but if you know what you want you can find the files for it, and adb push it
something like
adb push <name of the file>.ogg /system/media/audio/ui
EDIT: two files you wanna replace are KeypressStandard.ogg and KeypressSpacebar.ogg

Need help with changing keyboard on warm z rls1

I know it is probably simple but I cant seem to figure it out.Ive tried about everything but I can go to settings and click on gingerbread keyboard but it doesnt change, Ive tried holding down about every key on the keyboard to get the input thing to come up but it never comes up to change the keyboard input style.Thanxs in advance
long press and input field.
Is there a way to continue using swype but on the Gingerbread keyboard? Or remove the warm z keyboard theme?
No, swype and ginger keyboard are separate programs.
You can simply install a non themed version of the stock keyboard.
Check out the first couple of posts on the warm z thread, there are links to tons of mods, including keyboards.

[Q] Custom keyboard EI22 GB

Devs/XDA buddies,
I have tried looking with no success(Forgive me if I have overlooked). I am looking for a custom keyboard (like GB's) with swipe but with the English/Spanish button removed and the swipe tutorial removed. With these two buttons removed it would make an awesome space bar. It seems like I am all the time hitting the period or comma in error. I have tried some other keyboards from the market and they are a little odd for me.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

not really sure but i use better keyboard when i do use my screen as a keyboard bought it a while ago but dont know if it has swipe functions like swype does. have you tried to look in the settings menu to remove these languages? i dont use swype nor do i really like the default layout but i am sure there is a fix for your discomfort. there are other keyboards in the market that offer some sort of swype-like functions!

Thanks for your help.. I have went through all the settings.. There is a setting that even ask you what you want for your primary language.. If you chose that option it still has the button enabled. Usually to get to the keyboard settings you can long press the English/Spanish button to get to your lang settings..same with the tutorial button. There is a setting to disable it but it still works. hehe.. But yeah i am still in search for a decent keyboard even if i have to sacrifice swype..
gb keyboard is nice although i dont know if it has a swipe function but yeah, np, check out the market and have fun experimenting! If you're like me i just download all that i think might be the one and definitely delete the ones that prove no purpose or have memory leak bugs or any bugs i prefer not to work around!
Go keyboard has swype and a nice sized spacebar. That might suit your needs.

Thanks for your advise.. Been trying to use the Go keyboard for a couple days. The interface is lovely. Tried using the swype and its terrible. I am still looking though for a nice new keyboard..

[Q] keyboard and lockscreen question

So whenever I type I get a keyboard in my notification area asking me to choose an input method, im using the samsung keyboard, and it annoys me that it is there.
I'm also not fond of how the quick punctuation works.
Im wondering if anyone has suggestions for a lockscreen that doesnt require me to hit ok when I enter a pin either, I realize its a small thing, but I just dont like having to hit ok.

[Q] Changing Airview Icon

Hi guys, I am on Vanilla RootBox, and I just want to know if there's any way to change the Airview/stylus hover icon. I really REALLY don't like the mouse pointer. I know on the 4.1 AOSP roms it was possible to enable or disable it under Language and Keyboard, but it's not there anymore. I would like to disable it if possible, or change the icon to something a bit less conspicuous. I'm assuming it would be a png file somewhere in the system, but I have no idea where to begin to look. Thanks for any insight!
Yes me too

I realy hate it
EDIT - LOL. I just realized you're on AOSP right? My bad.
You can change the icon using this mod here:

You can also disable it by going to S Pen in the settings menu.

Choosing Default Keyboard

Hi All,
Just switched from S4 to the ONE. Everything is great except for one thing that I've noticed. I don't mind the stock keyboard, but I prefer Swype a lot better. I installed Swype and chose it as default keyboard, however, upon reboot, the keyboard switched back to the stock keyboard. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, how did you fix this issue and choose the default keyboard as there is no option under settings and Language and Keyboards
I also had this problem and it looks like Swype is aware of it and are looking for the fix...
In the mean time.. After the reboot, open any method of typing ( I use the txt message window to any recent contact ) and once the keyboard is displayed, pull down the bar from the top (that has the time stamp). You will see a Choose input method box. Click on it and Select the Swype - Swype + Dragon option and you are back up and running. Happy swyping.
I switched to the Google keyboard because this was annoying me about Swype. I think the Google keyboard is actually better at swiping in general... Except punctuation. I also use "*" often and it's buried on the Swype keyboard.

First select the keyboard of your choice, disable fast boot (settings, power) reboot, check that you still have the desired keyboard, enable fast boot. It should persist after that.
