Nothing wrong with my phone, purchased on the week of release in the UK, ok battery cover has a knack to removing and replacing as does sim cover but no issues with camera
I haven't heard of any ****ty build quality since the first batch with the alignment problem.
If everything lines up, camera in centre of camera hole, no gap between aluminium body and sim cover, you should be golden.

Hey all... just a quick question to set my mind at ease please...
Just bought a desire on ebay .. supposedly unwanted t mobile UK upgrade... brand New in box...paid 270 for itwhich I thought was a decent price...
I'm just a little worried about stuff on eBay though and wonder if there's anything I should check for to make sure its ok... any known problems I should be looking for or a reason someone would want rid in a hurry... as it was a 1 day sale.. many thanks for any help.
Nobody can advise what to look for? Is it at least possible to check how many minutes the phone has been used for ? (
Bought a Black HTC Desire on ebay.. £350.. box was still sealed - all good. But the chap selling it did live at the top of my road! LOL
Unlocked - just about to flash it!

thats a good deal, i got mine off ebay for £295, the main things u wanna check are the obvious, check the screen and the casing, check the battery for damage, turn it on and make sure you desire dosent have the pink screen tint problem, put it under some heavy usage and see if u get any random reboots ect and lastly plug it in while using it and make sure the device duznt get too hot, if your happy after doing all that ur sorted lol
If it's a stolen phone, it is possible that the IMEI has been blacklisted.
See here for more details.
Regards,
Dave
When you get it use the dialler to type *#*#4636#*#* then tap usage statistics. This will tell you how long each application has been used for. Obviously if it's brand new these should read 0.
It should be wrapped in a cellophane type wrapper that folds in all weird ways around it! It's all one piece. I would do all the usual checks, and look closely at it to ensure it hasn't been dropped etc.
Don't forget if it's a Tmobile upgrade then it will likely be locked to Tmobile and require an unlock code if you aren't on the same network!
It should come supplied with a 4gb micro SD card installed in the phone, the battery, usb lead, wall charger that you plug the usb lead into, earphones, and a few wee booklets. All the leads, charger etc should be in sealed bags.
Thanks all.... I've been using it since last night and seems allls well... gets quite warm at the.base of the back .. but I assume they all generate some heat ...
Checked the timers.. and sense was showing 3 hours.. but as I been using it a day that obviously me.. was in box all cellofaned up.. and all bits in sealed bags..
What's the pink screen problem ? Is it very noticeable ?
The 1 thing o did notice is there was an option to have something light up on receipt of mail or sms. I assume its the center of the optical tracker but I haven't noticed it light up once... should it? And hoe can I check? Thanks again for all the advice.. had set my mind at ease. )
The light for notifications is the one you see when you charge. There is no light at the trackpad.

If it is the case, is it then possible to "unlock" it by flashing another ROM onto it? Just wondered cause I'm looking at one that might be locked to vodafone (upgrade).

No. A new rom gives you new phone software. To unlock it you need to go to Vodafone, or the cheaper and better option in my opinion, buy a code online!
Hi all,
I repaired my DHD with a new screen / middle chassis. I got it working again with the Jellytime rom, but the camera fails to start.
I subsequently bought a replacement but that didn't work either.
Could anyone give me any pointers as to what I could check for camera operation ?
i.e. I 'think' I put it back the right way round...its it poss to put it back wrongly ot would it foul?
Only just put the jellytime rom on after reassembly. Could the rom be faulty? Would a reflash work?
Its a shame as I don't want to throw any more money at fixing it...nor to I want to trash it.
Basically I want to keep it as a spare or let one of the kids have it .
thx
In my opinion, best way to go would be to install a stable ROM. Preferably the ROM that your camera still worked with. Also you could try 3rd party camera apps or barcode apps for instance, that use the camera function.
Good luck.
((( I've tried several roms not from Jellytime to IcecoldSandwich to the old Gingerbread revolution and nothing works. Also wiped the SD card too in case something from the past was causing a hiccup.
So I'm concluding this is hardware related, just wonder what could it be if I only just put a brand new lense module in.....
EDIT : i've followed this vid from start to end and can't see where I when wrong. The camera bit is after 4.40mins

I have fixed a lot of inspires and it is possible to put camera in the wrong way...not that you did but its possible-there is a small space/ 'slot' that needs to face away from speaker, it points to where the black wire threads the plastic speaker/camera cover. Another thought if you had main boards apart is they are not fully seated under the mylar now...and lastly maybe that the camera mainboard section is no good....
Nope no luck with anything here. Camera is correctlt seated and the mainboards never got separated..
Everything else worked eg Wifi , GPS , sound and camera flash torch.
Presently have it bits again.
One thought.....at the edge of the battery cover there are two contacts which mate with the top half main board. What should these contacts trigger ?

Just so you know, HTC is a garbage company that creates good looking phones but which appear durable only on the outside.
I had an One S and after 2 months of usage The touchscreen "gave birth" of a dead spot right in the middle. It was a 1cm thick vertical line. So the phone became useless.I spend a ton of money on an "original" display+glass+digitizer (an assembly) cause I didn't choose a warranty when I bought the device, cause it was cheaper that way. after 1 month and a half month, a dead spot appeared on the new screen. This time it was a horizontal line that gave me a hard time again. I donnated the phone to some guy. I decided to buy a new HTC, but this time a ONE X. After 4 months another dead spot appeared on the touchscreen and again that area was unresponsive. I decided not to send it into warranty cause it was already enough and it's not worth it, so I sold it at a considerably lower price because of that problem. The Ironic thing is that I always tooks so much care of both devices and it still broke. If you keep using HTC, you'll only shorten your life.
I'm now a bit short on money and I'm using a pathetic Galaxy Ace 2. If you wanted right now to exchange a brand new ONE X with my Ace 2, I wouldn't make the exchange and I'd stick with the phone I have right now. Or I'd make the exchange only to sell the HTC, cause it's more expensive than the Ace 2 and after that I'd buy a Nexus 4 or a Galaxy S3, with the money I'd get from the HTC. That's how bad I hate HTC. What seems to be awesome, it's actually something that breaks with the slightest touch. Samsung, which everytime comes with the same hideous design every year, is 10 times more durable than an HTC, and also is a lot easier to root and downgrade if something goes wrong during some process.
So, my personal opinion, try to choose anything else but HTC. Otherwise you're gonna experience all sorts of problems with it even if you decide to replace the screen. When you fix a problem, another one will come out and make you be stressed. IT'S NOT WORTH IT, believe me.
Every one has there personal views of the devices they use.. I've had my One X from since it came out and it has never given me trouble.. I've never came across with the issues you are claiming.. neither my friends that use them. I have to upgrade to a new phone eventually but not because of the phone dying, but because it's just natural to upgrade to a newer better phone. I've used sammies before but have never ever come close to my comparison with the One X. I love HTC products and that remains no matter what..to the OP, your problem seems can be solved with a new screen..
How is that practical advice...uncalled for. Try a reverting phone to stock, if that doesn't help then it is a hardware fault and start looking into repair.
Sent from my alarm clock.
AoA. Hi! I tried to find a specific subreddit to ask this question but I never found one and now I think this question belongs here. Because all people here are using this device.
So 4 days back I searched for this cool device on olx and found out the man who is selling it is my friend. I asked him to come at my home and I checked his device. The things I found problem with are:
• Wear and tear from sides (boundary)
• IMEI not matched with back of the phone. I mean the Imei in settings>>about and imei written on back side of the phone are both different. I know the real Imei is what i get on settings but there are more things indicated by this. Which are:
• the phone’s back is changed so it must have been broken.
• it may have original part replaced internally? who knows
• its no more water proof
• we checked its heart monitor sensor and it wasn’t working either.
After all these things will you recommend me to buy this phone?
I am in quarentine these days. So I cant move to look for another phone. and i live in a backward area in a town the closest city is 1 hour away from here so there is no chance. There is nobody else selling this phone in my place (there are only 14 ads total in my area lol).
Should I buy this phone looking at all these things what do you recommend me?
I will never use health monitor btw
I am buying it mostly for camera a little bit pubg and for texts and call. Maybe as s daily driver. Thank u.
don't buy it! it has been tempered with and you don't know what else they did with it.

Try looking on SWAPPA. I have purchased 8 or 10 phones there with no problems.
I can’t. Swappa dont work in my country. Im from Asia. BTW I bought it and its amazing phone. There was no issue with it except different imei in back cover.
I'd like to know is there any possibility to check if pixel 6 phone is repaired/refurbished?! I've bought p6 pro today but can't make fingerprint to work (FOTO in attachment). I saw that other people have same problems when phone turns off by self (battery goes to 0% and buy) but after hard restart everything works again...not in my case. Seller told me that his wife used telephone for just few days and decided to stay on iPhone, but I'm start to thinking that I'm scammed; under display on small plastics antenna line I see just a little scratch so I'd like to ask is there a chances that screen is replaced. All other looks like 100% new phone.
Sounds like it may have been opened. During factory assembly it's very unlikely for this to happen.
It may actually be a mark from a plastic pick used to disassemble it and not a scratch.
The display is replaced as are internal components from the front I believe.

Since the OP states that he bought the phone used, it's more likely that the person previously in charge of keeping the phone, damaged it/scratched it. Plastic is ridiculously easy to scratch, even a grain of sand in your pocket can be enough.

If the phone was properly cleaned and re-packaged and not damaged, there is no way for you to find out if you received a refurbished phone (phone that was sent back by the original customer without damage, return window or something). At least not from a "software" perspective. You as a perceptive human can always try to see if there is dust residue, fingerprint signs or anything "physical" like that on the phone/inside the package, but there is not much more than can help you to decide that (except asking Google, you could hit them up with the phone IMEI and tell them that you bought it used and want to know if it ever got officially repaired/replaced, but I have no idea if Google would even bother giving you a decent answer).
Concerning repair (phone being opened by a repair technician to fix stuff inside) - other than physical markers (prying a phone open can cause damage to the chassie), there is not much that you can find out about that. There is no way to get the specific part IDs with software and even if that was possible, it wouldn't help your cause since Google would only use genuine original parts to repair a phone.
Concerning the "plastic under display" part, I do not follow here. What plastic under display? The display is not transparent, you can't see the phones interior through it. Can you make a photo of your observation?

Most likely the battery died resulting in the FP Sensor getting disabled. A Factory reset and/or full flash to latest image should always be done when buying a phone (especially when it's used). This will fix your issue also (using the flash.android.com tool) along with the calibration tool at the bottom of this page: pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection -- 99% a factory reset/wipe, flashing to the lastest build and using the fingerprint calibration tool will fix your issue. If not, you can get a replacement by telling google you did all of these things and they'll send you a phone (usually an advanced RMA if you show you've done everything previously mentioned).
The "Flash Tool" will update your Pixel to the latest Android version, along with an option to "Wipe" the device (make sure to hit the edit pencil and pick "Wipe Device" & "flash all partitions" ; if its a VZW model, updating in Android System in settings and factory reset in Recovery will be good enough, along with the calibration tool): flash.android.com/back-to-public
If it was refurbished by Google, you can put your IMEI# in the official Pixel Repair link below, and it will tell you some information (for example if its Unlocked, "Pristine or Refurbished" etc - it's a pretty great way to find out some info about a pixel (didn't know about it until recently). If the screen was replaced by UbreakiFixit for example, it probably won't show up as refurbished. it has to go through Google to probably be changed in the system, but I am just speculating.
Code:

@Proday Can you return it? That would be the way I'd go initially. You got sold a phone that is defective hopefully it was through either ebay or Swappa with some guarantees.
At first, thank you all for helping.
@Alekos Last night i did install last (Dec) update with adb fastboot; found it here on xda (because google pull it back from servers) but as i sad, problem is still here/same. From some reason repairmypixel with google doesnt work; I put telephone in right mode, google chrome finds it, but when I start procedure it goes and goes and ~5min later Telefon restarts by self and Im getting disconnect error/try again msg. Ill try this link now to see what happens with imei, thanks one more time.
@bobby janow I've got a bill brom google store, but im going back in my country in a few day and don't have enough time to "play" with warranty procedures
Btw I've made a Foto of "under display scratch" the best I could; for me it is out of mind that someone opened display on anthena line but who knows

There are two separate things being talked about. @Alekos said to go to https://store.google.com/repair and you might find out if it was refurbished or not (not necessarily). Should look similar the the following once you enter your IMEI in the site:

And then there is Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair, which I suspect is what you're talking about didn't work for you, but please confirm. I know over the last two months, some others have occasionally checked Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair and found that they hadn't updated it for the Pixel 6/Pro yet, so maybe that's still the case.
I've understand what he sad. Imei checked, results below...
And attach with pixelrepair that doesnt work (pop up blocker turned off)...
And I can try with Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair, but I'm certain that it is the same as factory image installed with adb command, that I did (although I've put dec update not nov).

Thanks, are you using the OEM USB-C cable? At least half a dozen users in this section didn't have success getting their Pixel 6 Pro working using the factory image zip, but Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair got their phone restored to stock and fixed their issue. It really seems to have been a lifesaver for some.
Yeah, I'm a little bit experienced
I'm going through this Official Google Pixel Update and Software Repair, see results soon. And I'm thinking that I know where is problem with pixelrepair.withpixel...didn't kill adb command; this flash tool tould me that i have to do first becouse adb is already in use...can be sam problem.

Ah! Hopefully, you'll have the solution soon.
So, I did all as @Alekos sad in another thread:
edit-- sorry, didn't realize you already posted separately. I commented to your post anyhow.
Did you figure this out yet? I would try wiping the phone, installing the latest build from the flash tool website (specifically this link: flash.android.com/back-to-public), on that page, edit the options for "Wipe" and "Flash all partitions". After it's done, run the Calibration tool (bottom of this page: pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carrier_selection ) - this should work, if not my guess is there's a bigger issue.
Still same problem with fingerprint...now I'm certain that's the hardware problem; or screen is replaced or FP sensor is dead
Anyway, I want to thank you all 9ne more time, I've learned something new yesterday and today!!

That message is so familiar to me and i'm frightening of it
For the last month I've been in possession of 3 (three!) p6p. The 1st one was received from my carrier and it burned out while updating to December software being only 2 weeks old, no sign of life, dead while charging etc.
Google shipped another one stating it is Pristine which means Like New condition. It came in a refurbished white box, much smaller than the original one and there was a tiny dent - almost like yours but located on top of the screen. What is the most important - I was getting that message "Enrollment was not complete..." Flashing at flash.android.com did not solve anything but was successful. Google support representative advised to get into safe mode, try to configure fingerprint again and it didn't work as well. Calibration tool was not offered as an option at all.
Now it's on the way back to google. The 3rd one I'm owning now is a new phone with no issues so far.
So my advice is to return your faulty phone to the seller if you are still able to. Getting a replacement from Google is tricky as you may get another pristine p6p with the same or other issues. Or you are lucky and you will get a good one but it's a lottery anyway. So it's up to you.
Good luck!
@asdor I was with seller right now, he brings me my money back...end of (sad) story There are still good people!
