I keep trying to clear my Dalvik Cache when installing a new rom in Clockwork Recovery. It says that it is cleared but everytime I boot a new rom I have settings from previous installations still stored on my phone. Plus I cant get the navigation to work "checking navigation availability" and I know that the fix for it is clear cache, uninstall maps, and redownload from the market but this is not working for me?? Any help would be very appreciated!!

Dalvik cache has nothing to do with settings.

I searched and didn't find the answer. I perform a dalvik cache wipe via Clockwork and I don't get any confirmation it did anything. It just sends me back to the previous menu screen. Is this normal?

which version? the older versions of clockwork had a bug that it didnt actually work to clear dalvik but if you update to the newest one available it does now (easiest way is just to install rom manager and let it update it for you)
mine doesn't show anything either. it pauses for a few seconds though so i'm assuming that it does it i've got 2.5.0.1 which i think is the newest one for the EVO.
I have ClockworkMod 2.5.0.1
It says it's the latest version
Mine does the same thing
What's a few extra seconds to make sure the dalvik is emptied?

On the Evo, the Dalvik cache is located in the /data directory, which is itself completely wiped when you do a data wipe / factory reset. If you do this first, then try the Dalvik wipe, it will just go back with no pause or confirmation. If you try to wipe Dalvik before wiping /data, it may pause a bit longer (0.7 seconds, maybe) and then return with no confirmation.
Either way, if you do a /data wipe you will be wiping Dalvik, but upgrade CWM if you're worried about it.
I'm trying salvage-mod 1.3 but YouTube and gmail keep force closing. Does anyone know how I could fix this? All help is appreciated.
1. Go into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik
if that doesn't work,
2. Unistall then redownload and install apps
or,
3. Manage apps, wipe data cache for those apps
if those don't work,
4. Wipe everything and start fresh
Make sure you wiping everything properly in recovery

Have you flashed Gapps after flashing CM9 ?
If not you can get it here:

and have it flashed.

have you cleared cache partition, dalvik cache and wiped data properly....
Did you wipe the dalvik cache and perform a factory reset?
If not, that's probably what you need to do, CM9 kept force closing everything and it fixed itself when I did these.
Hope I helped :fingers-crossed:

Thanks..did that and worked well till last day, but the in the evening I again got same error
Don't know what to do...
hmmm...
The only thing I can think of is to free up some RAM, maybe they're force closing due to not enough being avaliable.
Try to kill some ram hungry apps,
Go to
-Settings
-Apps
-Scroll to Running
-Kill them.

Hi.
Using stock, rooted,s-off.stock kernel.
Recently battery life decreased, so I want to do a factory reset and start from scratch.
Went into twrp, selected wipe, and after the reboot the system start at setup screen and I get non stop FC of Google play.
I Had a nandroid backup, so I have restored it, and when system finish boot, I'm still getting this Google play FC.
Tried installing android revolution he 8.1 that I had as backup on my microsd, and after the boot finished everything is fine.
After that I tried restoring the nandroid backup, and this time I did not get this FC.
I have also tried reset via settings -backup and reset, and it will just get me into twrp recovery, tried only wiping user data, but FC saga continues.
Right now I have restored my nandroid back(by installing ARVHD 8.1 and restoring backup).
Anyone have any idea what could have happened and how to resolve that?
Any other way getting a clean system?
*I don't have access to a computer right now...
Thanks.
Tried flashing CWM recovery and doing the wipe from there, i'm still getting this google play FC
Try wiping playstore manually, 1 settings 2, scroll down to apps 3, find the playstore then clear cache & data, can then try unistall updates then try open the playstore again to see if that has helped.
