[SOLVED] - Factory reset results in Google play FC - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Using stock, rooted,s-off.stock kernel.
Recently battery life decreased, so I want to do a factory reset and start from scratch.
Went into twrp, selected wipe, and after the reboot the system start at setup screen and I get non stop FC of Google play.
I Had a nandroid backup, so I have restored it, and when system finish boot, I'm still getting this Google play FC.
Tried installing android revolution he 8.1 that I had as backup on my microsd, and after the boot finished everything is fine.
After that I tried restoring the nandroid backup, and this time I did not get this FC.
I have also tried reset via settings -backup and reset, and it will just get me into twrp recovery, tried only wiping user data, but FC saga continues.
Right now I have restored my nandroid back(by installing ARVHD 8.1 and restoring backup).
Anyone have any idea what could have happened and how to resolve that?
Any other way getting a clean system?
*I don't have access to a computer right now...
Thanks.

Tried flashing CWM recovery and doing the wipe from there, i'm still getting this google play FC

Try wiping playstore manually, 1 settings 2, scroll down to apps 3, find the playstore then clear cache & data, can then try unistall updates then try open the playstore again to see if that has helped.

[Q] App Force Close Error In Custom ROM

OK so here's my problem.. I have backups in both nandroid and Titanium Backup. I flash a ROM wait for it to do its business. After everything boots up, I try to restore everything through titanium backup but I get a force close error. I also try to open Rom Manager to see if it works and I get the same error but for Rom Manager. So the error isn't in Titanium Backup, but I do not know where it is. Any ideas?? I enjoy having custom Roms, but not if I do not have all of my stuff on the Rom.
Well I was going to attach a picture but it will not allow me because I am " New".
The error message reads as this.
! Sorry!
The application Titanium Backup (process com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
(Force Close) <---- button
It also does it with other applications such as the Facebook Launcher.
Once you flash your ROM, run Fix Permissions preferably from recovery, else use the version(s) in either Rom Manager, or Titanium.
Once that completes, reboot device. When you restore things from Titanium, just restore apps, preferably one-by-one, and only the app, not the data.
Do not at all recommend restoring apps+data+system data from Titanium. Why?
The system data backup residing in Titanium was for the last ROM, or the last time the backup was completed. As such, if you flash a different ROM, you are overwriting the system data of the new ROM with the system data from the old ROM - that spells odd behavior, mass force closes. etc. etc.
Well I tried this solution smtom, and it was to no avail. Any other suggestions?
When flashing a ROM, are you clearing cache/dalvik and doing the factory reset on the device? What version of Rom Manager & CWM are you using?
The latest version of CWM is giving people issues.
Absent all that, try not restoring apps or data (anything really) from TB when you flash the new ROM, after having wiped data/caches/user data.
Yes I'm clearing cache and data. The CWM version is 3.0.0.5, which is the latest recovery.
What does clearing the dalvik do and how do I factory reset the device?
I figured it out, with tmtom's help of course! I had to do a factory reset and then flashed the rom and everything worked. Thanks for the advice!!
I have the same error so I'm going to try the solutions provided in this thread. I do have one question though. Kalebskalicky mentioned that he finally fixed it by doing factory reset and then flashing the rom.
Just to be clear; factory reset is the same as wiping data/factory reset? Or I need to do a factory reset from the phone settings?
Another thing. I have noticed that the FC issues have something to do with gapps, acore, and/or framework processes. When I get any of these force closes, all the other apps start to crash, but all the issues start with any of those 3 processes crashing.
However, there are 2 apps that force close from the start, even before any of these 3 processes crash. These 2 apps are voxer and waze.
Is there like a way to delete the folder where they are installed? maybe it's a problem of installation? I have no idea and haven't been able to fix it.
Any suggestions, would be inmensely appreciated.
Thank you very much.
UPDATE:
Just wanted to mention that I always wipe data/factory, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache, and then flash the new rom. Is this ok to do? Or am I deleting stuff I shouldn't?
Thanks again.
I also had this issue.
I had tried wiping the cache and the dalvik cache. Fixing permissions. didn't wont to format as everything was set-up how I wanted it and couldn't be bothered going through it again.
After some digging around I had to uninstall titanium backup first then delete the folder
/sdcard/external_sd/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
(there may also be /sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup to Delete)
Reinstalling titanium backup after deleting this folder, worked like a charm.
Apparently its to do with a corrupt database upgrade???
I hope this helps any one.

Can't Get a Clean install.... Need some help

I don't know what is wrong with my phone after trying to flash SenseGinger v2.1.2 (didn't work) then reflashed CM 7 RC 3 with Mattedblues theme, Then flashed to RC 4. But each time, i can't get a clean install.
Things like Mattedblues theme icons are there when I didn't even flashed the theme Also my old wallpaper is there too when its not even on the SD card. Also now my phones constantly reboots after trying to log into google after fresh install.
I cleared Factory reset/ Cleared Cache/ Cleared Dalvik cache/ Even installed a Blank SD with only the rom.
WHat the hell is going on??? is there is secret cache somewhere i forgot to clear?
help
if you have wifi enable it will do a bootloop, so after a install do a reboot and that should stop...try to do a clean install of RC4, also if you backed up from google it will restore everything even wallpaper

No no wifi no nothing. Tried it even without a google account login and its still goes crazy. I think somehow my past rom data doesn't get deleted, but i have no idea where they are hiding at....
Right now i am doing a full HTC signed rom install and going to see how it goes.

[Q] TWRP 2.5 Restore Nandroid Failed

Ok so here is my situation. I was running RootBox and decided to restore my backup of JediX. After running JediX for a bit I missed RootBox so I decided to go back and as I was restoring my back-up of RootBox TWRP said that the restore failed. So I tried booting back into the OS only to be stuck in a bootloop. So I wiped system, data, cache and dalvik and did a clean flash of RootBox and Gapps. Much to my surprise when it booted up all my apps that I had on my RootBox Nandroid were there but the system configurations were gone. Confused about my apps still being here because I know I wiped data I decided to go to the playstore and realised that even tho the play store app is there I actually do not have any Google services for example I can not even add my google account. So I thought that the RootBox nandroid must have messed something up I decided to tried restoring the previous JediX nandroid that worked ealier and yet again I was confronted by a Restore Failed message. And no matter how many times I wipe and flash I can not get any google services to stick and nor can I get a clean wipe of my device.
So after that long rant has this happened to anyone or does anyone know of any solution?
Update: Ok so Flashing TWRP 2.4.4 via Odin allowed me to flash rootbox and gapps and have the google services working properly (so far...) but still even after doing a factory reset and a fresh install once i booted up all my apps were already installed all 150+ of them... When I get back from work tomorrow I will back up everything on my PC and attempt a full wipe including internal storage

I would suggest starting fresh. Download the Rom again. Verify the MD5 checksum. Make sure you download via WiFi, or hardline. Do a Full wipe : System, Data, Cache, Dalvik Cahce, Factory Reset. I personally would also wipe Internal Storage, but that's up to you. Flash the Rom, and reboot. First boot on MOAR takes a few minutes, have patience. After it boots try to really limit the amount of data you restore.
i ran the moar rom for a while. i flashed it with philz touch it will clean for a rom install, its an option in the menu. hope you dont have an issue with sound. it couldve been a bad download

[Q] My rooted VS985 won't install apps, display settings

Hi everyone,
Long time reader, first time poster.
Yesterday I was trying to download some updates, and I started getting 110 error codes when they tried to install. I did some googling and found the best way to fix it was to clear the data and cache for Google Play Store. I opened my settings, but for some reason, my application manager won't load the cache and data amounts for each app, so I can't clear the cache for anything.
I then tried to download an APK via chrome, but I couldn't install that either. It just said "install unsuccessful".
I ran into the problem with the application manager once before, but the issue then was that I had greenified an important process, and as soon as I let it run everything was fine. I thought that was the problem this time, but uninstalling greenify hasn't helped.
I'm rooted, but I don't have custom recovery, so I can't side load anything and I'm not sure if I can restore my phone safely. I also can't download any apps to help me fix the problem, since they won't install.
Any suggestions? I'm at a loss as to what to do!
I'd download your firmware and try a dirty flash with flash tool, might work or you could install custom recovery and fix permissions, or failing that, enter stock recovery and factory reset

Would factory reset still work given that I've rooted the phone and deleted 40+ stock apps?
