[Q] Multiple Launchers - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I recently started using ADW EX and I really like it. I was using LPP but I didn't uninstall it because I didn't want to lose the pro version. My question is having both launchers killing my battery/slowing down my phone ? My LPP has no icons or widgets on it.

As far as I know, only one launcher should remain in memory at one time. I've had multiple home launchers on my G2, and when I'm not using one of them I always remove the widgets just to be safe. You should be fine leaving both on your phone.

Thank you very much.

When I try to restore adws backup all I get on screen is a bunch of placeholders instead of Widgets. I remove them one at a time n replace with its respective widget.
You restore the backup then reboot your device...

LauncherPro does the same thing (backup/restore)

Landscape home screen with keyboard closed?

Does anyone know of an app that can turn the homescreen landscape with the keyboard closed?

Some launchers will do it for you if you enable auto rotation and configure the settings in the launcher to pick it up
With launcherpro for example

Or ADW launcher. Zeam as well
I use launcherpro and its works fine. Its also a feature available in cyanogenmod roms

Adw and LauncherPro eat my battery. Was hoping there was something else with less going on behind the scenes that didn't drain the battery.
On stock launcher I can go about 15 hours on a charge. When I load launcherPro I get about 5 hours if I'm lucky.

Something seems fishy here...I've never seen any type of significant battery life change based on my launcher. Live wallpaper maybe, but not the launcher itself.
Either way I was just wanting something that wud make my homescreen go landscape with out all the other stuff launcher comes with.

Try launcher42 or something like that in the market, from Steve kondik.
I use ADW and it works just fine in landscape

[Q] Quick Sense Question...

Has the 2.3.3 been rooted yet?
JOKING! My real question is I'm trying to make my unrooted evo bearable atm and downloaded ADW. When I'm using ADW as my launcher, it's very laggy and stuttering. Is there a way to stop sense from running?
I tried Settings > Applications > Manage and ending the HTC Sense, but it just relaunches.
Any Ideas?
No its part if the system you cannot end it

Thanks for the quick response. Since I can't end it, any good ideas on getting ADW to run better?
Sorry I don't, have you tried any other launcher? Or do you prefer adw? Adw would lag on my epic slightly but not launcher pro

Nah, I didn't think of Launcher Pro. Put it on and it don't lag like ADW. I do prefer ADW, but for the time being this'll work. Only need 3 home screens since I don't have many apps.
Thanks!

[Q] Why doesn't anyone use ADW Launcher?

I keep reading through all the different ROM threads and hardly anyone talks about ADW? Is there something I should know, that I don't? I don't want to have to pay for a launcher, any advice is welcome.

What you mean? Cm7 ships with adw (be it a modified version). And everyone has their choice...some people switch launchers on a weekly basis

For drop dead stability I always go with go launcher (on my gf's epic) but I have paid for launcher pro plus and can't live without the built in themeable twitter, gmail, and facebook widgets butto each his own. I consider adw a laggy ram hog

Most people do not want to pay for something like a launcher when there are so many free ones like Zeam. I got ADW for my 2 phones. My girl uses it exclusively but I use it just to verify operation with new Bonsai builds before release.
I have been using Zeam since April but I have been using ADW EX a lot more lately. The themes and icons are great and I love being able to swipe to hide my status bar and dock

I use adw ex. Its fairly stable I don't have problems often..
Cd's or tapes?
I forgot what but something hides and out was a pain in the ass because somehow I got it to hide apk the time
It got to the point where I had to have a shortcut for the un hide button on my beautiful bare home screens and also I'm my opinion tw4.5 is better

I use ADW. I have it carefully configured; I LOVE it. I use the FOSS market version. If you want my configs to try I can post them.
I got ADW as the base launcher on a ROM I was using and fell in love with it. I used to be all about Launcher Pro but this works out so much better. None of the LP restarts when memory runs low and ADW runs so smoothly.

Favorite launcher? NON-Rooted

What's everyone's favorite launcher for the One M8? This on a NON-Rooted phone, and won't be. So what do you guys like besides the stock Sense?
I'm using the stock launcher but i want to try Nova with it because I bought prime.

I like Action Launcher, it's nice and quick to find apps.
For my it's Lightning Launcher because of all the things you can do with it hands down. It has a big learning curve, but when you get the hang of it, there is nothing it can't do....

+1 for Nova, I've loved that launcher for a long while. I've been running the google now launcher and have to say it's pretty good. I usually like a bit more icons on my screen but all in all I like the Now launcher.
I've been a Nova user for years now, I've got paid versions of all the major launchers but Nova's what I've settled on lately.
Since I got my M8, I've been using Sense and I really like it, with one really irritating feature missing... you can't fling icons/widgets off the homescreens. You also can't change icons to individual custom ones (easily) but oh well.
I don't really use Blinkfeed or whatever, but I think the Sense launcher is pretty good on its own.
