As you all probably know, cyanogenmod settings has a push update feature, tied to rom manager web connect. Well, it's free for stable builds, but nightlies apparently need the premium license. I bought rom manager premium through paypal, not on the market, so cyanogenmod settings isn't seeing that I have the premium license and isn't allowing me to register my phone on the build servers. Both buttons are grayed out. Is there a way around this or do I really have to spend an additional $5 for the market one? Because that would just suck. Thanks in advance for any help.
Also, if anyone has a clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 recovery in an update.zip form, that'd be great to have, I'm trying to trick rom manager into rebooting into clockwork 3 rather than flashing cw2 over it on ever reboot, which requires me to replace recovery-update.zip in /sdcard/clockworkmod with a cw3 zip. If not that's fine, what I'm really trying to fix is the push update thing.

- Just in case this question hasn't been answered.
There is a new Version of ROM MANAGER on the market.
Supposedly that has been fixed now.

Thanks, but it didn't fix the whole nightly push updates thing :/ When I go to cyanogenmod settings, system, update notifications, both register and unregister are grayed out :/
As for the whole cw3 in an update.zip form, I fixed it. I realized that before you "flash" clockworkmod recovery, there's a menu option that allows you to manually override the installation prompts, like if you have trouble installing it via rom manager, you can just make the app assume that you've manually installed it. Now it says clockwork recovery: unknown, but it allows me to chain flash zips and make backups and all that from ROM manager without flashing 2.5.0.1 over 3.0.0.5.
I still really want to get push notifications working though :/
Hi All -
I am having the same problem though on a different device. Paid for CwM through paypal, but the option for push notifications is still grayed out.
I'm going to bump this, as I too am having this problem and haven't found a solution anywhere else. I bought ROM Manager Premium through PayPal. This is recognized by ROM Manager, but not through Cyanogen push notifications.
Obviously, this isn't a big set back, but it would be nice to fix this feature.

Strangely I got a notification for build 25, but it was a cwm notification.
I pm koush but no answer.

Yeah, and when I go into download rom section, there are only the superuser binaries. No actual roms. Very disappointing. I attempted to contact koush 4 times. Twice on twitter and twice by email. No response. Little pissed off. May submit a bug report to the cm bug tracker when the release candidates come out, when it can actually be considered a bug.

I'm kind of disappointed with the rom download section. It used to at least have cyanogenmod stable roms and the cm-nightlies, but now the only things in there are the superuser binaries, it sucks. I wouldn't have paid for it if I knew this was what I was getting.
I have a similar issue on MY CDMA Hero. I get notifications from ROm Manager, but still get the error message from CM push updates: "Must have premium license" I do have the premium license.
I downloaded the latest RC3. Do I just hit install rom on rom manager? Or do I have to do the whole wipe data thing again in recovery?
I got ROM manager premium for my Slide. Do I need a separate purchase for my Nook Color?

ROM Manager is cooked into CM7, so not only can I not download it from the market, I can't uninstall/reinstall either. Starting to get really p.o.ed. It says I have the license and it wont work. Also paid through paypal. Says to get License 1.07. Where do I get it...?
I copied .rommanager_license from /mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod to /mnt/sdcard and was able to register CM7 for push notifications. However, I am unable to find a way to see premium content in Rom Manager itself. Anyone have a clue?
I have uninstalled/reinstalled rom manager to no avail. I have a copy of the license in the clockworkmod folder where the app placed it initially, but I can't see premium features within Rom Manager.

What ROM are you using? Might want to try flashing gapps. Also, you are going to get flamed. The development section is not for questions, only contributions. Just a heads up for nest time.

I had the same problem. Here is how to find out what the problem is: first find the name of an app that you know for sure is missing from your Market. Next, you need to track down the apk file for that program (either look for it here or online). One you have the apk file, try to install by typing "adb install xxx.apk" from a console. Do not just install it from your phone, most likely it will just say "application not installed". When you type in the adb install command it will probably write out with a error code. Write down that error code and from there it should tell you what the problem is.
In my case, none of my apps that used Google Maps would install or show up in Market because I was messing around with the CM6 Gapps file which caused a certificate error.
i kinda had that issue now all of my downloads are saying unsuccessful....could anyone tell me why....and that's on any rom
I love Cyanogen's work and was waiting patiently for the stable build for my G2, but now with the announcement of 2.3 I am torn whether to wait for Gingerbread (which should hopefully be soon) or to take the dive into Cyanogen's custom rom.
If I do go with the custom rom, that means I will likely have to wait longer for a Cyanogen stable Gingerbread build. Cyanogen does have many sweet features, even on the 2.2 base. I think the only two features I will need to port over before the custom rom is Swype and QuickOffice, everything else should be there right (like WiFi calling)?
What does everyone think? I welcome all feedback!
Thanks!
Dive and flash CM. 2.3 OTA update will take a while, my estimate is around Jan to Feb. Or maybe longer, if T-Mo/HTC is being lazy.

Appreciate the replies everyone, think I will dive into cyanogen's stable rom this week.
Am I correct that all I will need to backup and then restore is Swype and QuickOffice? From what I read WiFi Calling will be there and goodies like FM Radio, better quick key and led notifications...just want to confirm before I dive in.
Thanks!
Ya you have to restore swype. There's an app somewhere around here that'll do that. I didn't realize that quickoffice was gone. I can still use it by opening a file but I can't go to it from the app drawer. Make sure that you don't delete that first backup. I just labeled mine do not delete.

There is also a file in /system/lib/libSwypecore.so that you need to back up as well. After flashing, you can adb push them back where they came from.

Swyperestore apk is the one that I used, found here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...over-your-swype-after-installing-cyanogenmod/
Note that you will need a clockwork backup with Swype installed; it basically rips it out of the backup and restores that version onto your new cyanogenmod.
Hell there's no reason NOT to flash. Why wait? If you eant to switch back a nandroid only takes a couplr minutes. There's no risk as you can make it look as if you have never rooted your phone before and not risk any reprocusions from tmobile. As far as I'm concerned, flash everything at least once to see if its your style. Ya dig?

Did it!
Again thanks to everyone for the feedback, I flashed Cyanogen's rom today and it does indeed rock!
That SwypeRestore app did work quite nicely and I found a thread about getting QuickOffice back here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837599
But I did not back it up before I flashed the new rom, does anyone know how to pull the apk out of a clockwork backup? I suppose I could restore the backup first and pull it out and then restore the new rom first but that seems like quite a long work-around.
Also one small quirk I keep bumping into, since the trash-the-icon is up top, I keep throwing away icons down below, like before, but now that action replaces the app drawer with the application and there does not seem to be a way to restore the app drawer.
Does anyone know of a quick way to restore the app drawer if it is replaced with an app shortcut? I tried to reset/restore the adw.launcher and that did not work, so a factory reset/wipe seems the only way to get that app drawer back in the center dockbar. I've done this accidental action twice now and I dont want to lose all of the customizing work I've done on the new rom anymore.
Thanks again, love XDA!!!
To restore the App drawer:
long press the home screen to create a widget
select custom shortcut/pick your activity/launcher actions/Open close App Drawer
press OK and drag the new icon onto the task bar
If you want to extract an APK from the nandroid backup, use unyaffs on the system.img which is stored on your /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup folder somewhere. I think the timestamps are in GMT 0 time, unless you restored from rom manager, then I think it is in local time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4474956
This assumes that you have some familiarity with linux... otherwise restore, extract, re-restore, install. The file will be in /system/app/
I loaded CM 7.0.2.1 Supersonic & A LOT of apps are missing like USAA, Groupon, Amazon, Etc. How do I fix this? What would cause this? I'm new to flashing so I'm stumped at this point.
I have tried the "Fix" file, i have tried downloading apps through diff. markets, i have tried a diff market.apk, and i have tried clearing my cache and wiping my phone. please help.
Sorry, don't know the answer, but this is the proper place to post questions for future reference:

or in the thread of the ROM you are having an issue with.
Don't know the answer either, just wanted to say cheers to jstalford for not being a jerk. Hopefully others can learn that when redirecting people to the appropriate forums you can do so without being rude.

You'll run into that from time to time, some devs havent updated the app for gd compatiblity yet.
That is a feature that google made. It detects what android version you have and what phone. it then filters out incompatible or blocked(e.g. A thunderbolt only app in market) apps. Its their own way to promise you that any app in the market(which arent filtered out) will run on your device.
CM7.0.2.1, all apps listed by OP appearing in market. User error. Most likely didn't format /system or something.
Screenshots attached as examples. Flashed ROM, Gapps, a custom Font, and Tiamat Kernel. Booted up, used T-Mobile theme chooser to change to one of the other included themes. That's it for the modifications.

Hi guys,
I am starting to get a lot of force closes on my phone. I have no clue if it is the phone, the apps or the ROM (SLIDE-Reloaded v1 which is the basics of the original just without the junk ).
I was thinking of getting rid of what I have now and installing CyanogenMOD7. Would this be recommended? I have Recovery: Clockworkmod 2.5.0.1
If so, can I get a brief explination of how to go about the swap. I know I have done this in the past but it has been so long I honestly can't remember.
Cheers!!
AB
Its simple, just open rom manager and go to download roms, hit cyanogenmod and download cyanogenmod 7.0.3 w/ the google apps addon (optional), and after it downloads, rom manager should automatically pop up asking if you want to wipe and and backup rom, BACKUP ur rom dude just incase u dnt like CM7 and it saves everything, mssgs and all, just in case. Flash the Rom and ther u go. Other than experimentation with some other roms to support my fellow devs, I hav benn using CM since the 6.1.1 build! I highly recommend it!
-also, it wud be in your best interest to probably flash up to the latest recovery, which is 2.5.0.7 if I'm not mistaken)

Do I need to download the GAAPS? If so, I am unable to from the site provided on the ROM bible thread.
Backup - check =) First thing I did was to back up SMS' and current ROM
EDIT: It just clicked to me, so I do not need t download the ROM to my computer and then transfer to SD? All I do is run ROM manager and choose a ROM from the list?
UHHH 0_o i have no idea what you mean by rom bible to be honest, but when you download CM7 from rom manager, it should be a popup on the screen that says addons, then below it is gapps or google apps, whatever its called, you can choose whether to or whether not to download it, but i strongly recommend it because gapps has the Marketplace in it, CM7's actual rom does not come stock with the android market! so download it!
-and for the second question yes it automatically does that for you!!
WOW that is great! I can't wait!!! I just can't do it right now because Market is giving me a "download unsuccessful" message I am upgrading the ROM manager to the premium.
I followed the troubleshoot steps and no luck.
As far as the rom bible, this is the site i was refering to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924793

To get Swype: just sign up for the Swype Beta on their website: http://swypeinc.com/
I believe the 'H' is for HSPA+. The Slide is not technically a HSPA+ phone, but it does get faster speeds from the "4G" HSPA+ towers. (You should see faster speeds when the H is on top vs when there's 3G at the top)

I can only relate my own experiences, I know there are many using CM7 and love it, but for me I just couldn't accept the limitations and bugs it presented on my phone. I'm using a rooted version of the "official" Froyo 2.2.1 ROM (espresso_signed_040511_005057.zip) which still has HBOOT 0.52 and using DarkTremor's a2sd moving apps and cache to an ext3 partition. This combination gets me loads of free memory for apps, has all the nice Sense UI enhancements, is stable and pretty snappy (I am using a Class 10 sd card).
I have to agree, CM ROMS have their audience. I am not sure why it is but I like sense roms better.
I ended up reinstalling CM7 and that fixed the problem with no sound when receiving text. The problem now as many others (so I have read) is my Wi-fi not connecting.
I am going to leave CM7 for a few more days and see if the love comes around, if not, I am going back to a sense rom =/
Fuzi is the rom you have installed on your phone located in the list of Roms in Rom Manager or did you manually instal?

I had the wifi issue in the very beginning, turns out, it is a rare bug that happens often accidentally, the wifi is not a permenant issue, simply backup once more, and then reflash! Easy as pie! Also, CM does NOT use Launcher Pro. It uses ADW Launcher to give the phone the gingerbread look. Launcher pro incorporates both Sense and Gingerbread and is far more advanced! Other than that like I said for me CM is one of the greatest Roms I have ever laid eyes on. However it is in your best interest to use LauncherPro if you want the freedom of CM w/o havin to flash a 2.2 Rom. I recommend the Plus version of LP as it has the Sense widgets, etc. Good luck and jus to let you know I hav absolutely no probs w/ CM as of my latest installation (CM 7.0.3).

DSP is a music equalizer (when used right, makes an wonderful difference in the audio quality of your phone) and I really dont know what the point of spare parts is to be honest with you, just a toolbox for devs i guess
I just got my phone today and updated to 4.0.2. I had trouble installing Swype Installer (downloaded via browser) earlier but I was able to after a reboot. Now I'm trying to download Nova and it won't go, even after a couple of reboots.

Any thoughts?

Hey, never heard of that before dude. Did you download the apk file for swype using your phone? Or did you download it and then copy it to your phone?
Maybe and this is just a shot in the dark try doing it one of the "other" ways above.
So if you downloaded it through your phone's browser try downloading on your computer and then transferring over. It is the only think I can think of that might work as I had an issue with an apk before similar to this and once I downloaded the file and copied it to the phone it worked fine.
Anyhow it's a long shot but thought I would say it Good luck.

If you have Screen Filter running then you should disable it before clicking Install. It is a known compatibility issue, otherwise just install it with adb:

If you have Screen Filter running then you should disable it before clicking Install. It is a known compatibility issue, otherwise just install it with adb:
adb install <path_to_apk>
Click to collapse
That was it it!! Many thanks!
