[Q] Can't get cell service on AOSP Roms. *Fixed* - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This all started when I formatted within clockworkmod and screwed up my partitions.
I had to revert back to stock to rebuild the structure of the phone. After stock, I re-rooted and flashed CM7.
I had no service(no calling, no data).
I flashed back to stock and found the problem.
I had to dial ##778 and change the number under the NAI to my phone number. See here.
Everything worked perfectly. I flashed skyraider and it still worked. Then I flashed CM6 and no luck.
And I can't do ##778 with AOSP roms and I'm not sure why the settings aren't going over. I've done *228, replaced the kernel and the radio. Still nothing.
Any other ideas?

Figured it out!
I flashed back to SkyRaider and dialed ##778
To find out, my NAM settings were wrong.
I put my phone number in for MDN and MSID, saved changes, flashed CM7 and it all works perfectly now.
Now I have to respond to all of these text messages

What carrier did you have 5 years ago when this happened? I have this problem now after repartitioning for cm13 and the dialer codes do nothing for me.

Help with Radios

Hello. Yesterday I rooted my phone using unrevoked 3 and flashed my phone to CM 6.1 stable and the invisiblek kernal #28. After hours of convincing myself to flash the radio to 11.19, i did. It worked great until later that night i forgot to dial that *22899 to reprogram my phone. I dialed the number the program was successful and i went the bed. I woke up the next morning to find out that i was on an extended network everywhere i go. i redialed that number and got the voice error:
"Message AP 32: Wellcome to U.S Cellular..."
also when i dial a 5 digit number or something it comes up with the us cellular error.
I reflashed it back to 7.28 and got the same error. Does anybody know how i can get back on to verizon's network? i used to be a USCC customer but i thought they deactivated my account.
Sounds like your epst settings might be messed up. You can get into epst to check by dialing ##778. Select edit, and the password is 000000 (6 zeros). You'll have to search some of the threads here for 'epst' to get some hints on how it should be set.

What accesses EPST?

Out of the 3 things that can be flashed (ROM, kernel, and radio), what accesses the EPST settings of the phone? I know radio is affiliated with it, but my epst settings also changed when i flashed the kernel. I just want to know what not to do when i get my replacement incredible. Thanks.
Which epst settings specifically?
If you dial *228 to update prl and whatnot it will revert any manual changes. That is the only time my epst settings have changed.
I'm not really sure which settings but I know at least my PRL changes. When i dial *228 i get a message saying they cannot reprogram my phone.
It has happened to me twice. Once when i flashed my radio to 11.19 and also when i flashed the incrediblek kernel to MIUI-gold 1.1.14 ROM while i was using the stock radio.
I know it changes because my reception changes to extended network and is only 1x. If if update the PRL it goes back the verizon network and sometimes i'll get 3G.
I have never heard or experienced any changes in the epst setting when flashing any combination of roms, kernels, or radio.
Those settings are programmed when you dial *228 option 1 to activate your phone and option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List.
But, to answer your original question:
What accesses EPST?

I would say that all 3 would because those settings tell the phone how to communicate with vzw's network.
Haha okay thanks. I'll just be more careful and thorough when reading directions then. I think I forgot to wipe the dalvik caches when i would flash the kernel/radio if that makes a difference...

phone is nonworking :\ please help

ive been using cm7 since it came out. works great, no problems. havent flashed anything new or made any changes to my phone is the past few weeks. i wake up this morning and can't send texts or make calls. i thought maybe i needed to update my profile. i wiped my phone and flashed a sense rom and my profile wouldn't update. data wont connect either. so i tried to reset it so it do the hands free activation again, and now its totally ****ed. cant make or recieve calls or anything. it erased my number and stuff from the epst menu.
does anyone know how to fix this without me having to take it back to sprint?
You did a full reset and wipe? Maybe you can unroot it and go back to the stock rom or flash a backup. But if you go to sprint they may not help you because your phone is rooted. Well good luck

Im not sure if this is exactly what you're asking about with the values but I thought if they were it could help some...

[Q] Updated radios now cant make calls

I'm totally baffled as to what I could have done wrong. First of all I have 2 evo's, my wifes and mine. We were running cyanogen nightlies and found out about all the radio updates. I downloaded the zip file to flash them all and everything was ok on reboot. Another post had also said to flash back to a sense based rom and update the PRL and Profile so I flashed sense and both phones were saying "error code 1012" Looking deeper there were posts saying to ##786# and clear the information, reboot to recovery and flash, dalvik, cache, and factory reset. I did this and that's when we lost all connection to sprints network. Found out that wiped our phone # from MDN and MSID so I changed those back to our phone # and rebooted, still nothing. Unrooted both phones completely and still no go. However they would download the newest OTA if I was connected to wifi. Downloaded that and installed with no problem and now my phone works. Downloaded the prl profile. My wifes however... (she isn't to happy) It won't connect to the network and anytime she dials out the account is not activated. Sorry for such a long drawn out post but I wanted to make sure I got all the information that is needed. If anybody can help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it.

No data after changing phone numbers on Ting

This one has me stumped.. I have a rooted Epic 4G with Pac-Man ROM installed. I started service with Ting a couple months ago, but got someone's used phone number which receives all kinds of creditor calls and random text messages. I downloaded and used FC09 multiboot option to be able to change my MSL to Ting which worked fine the first time. Voice and Data both worked. After 2 months of random phone calls from all over, i decided i wanted to try to get my old Sprint number moved to the Epic 4G. I booted into FC09, changed the MSL for the new number, but now cant get past hands free activation. I can get voice and text working if i enter the phone number and MSID through the dialer codes (##MSL#). The 3G symbol shows right after a MSL reset, but if i try to edit data settings, i lose the 3G symbol. This happens when trying to edit data under both the FC09 and Pac-Man ROM. I also have to switch back and forth to ns4g modem and the FC-09 modem when using multiboot. PRL and Profile updates do not work under either ROM as well.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Have you had any luck?
If all else fails you may have to revert back to stock FC09 to get things working again. If there are still issues with the stock FC09 then you might call Ting and see if they can help you out.
After making sure everything is working with stock FC09 then reflash your custom ROM. I have not noticed any of the problems you have described with multi-boot FC09 and CyanogenMod v10 stable on my Epic 4G.
