Ok.. so I work for a T-Mobile exclusive dealer here in the US.. the HTC representatives stopped by my store today to ask a few questions about how the dash and the MDA were selling at my store.. after talking and chatting for a while, one of the reps pulls out what they call the "T-mobile Wing" which will be releasing late May.. its a really slim version of the MDA with a nice full rubber keypad.. and best of alll, Windows Mobile 6..
I pulled out my 8525(hermes) and compared the OS's.. Keep in mind, I'm running XDALive v0.20.. the official release is very different than the beta that kypher released. Instead of the task manager being in Settings>Memory.. it's located in the top right corner of the screen where the "X" usually is.. instead of the "X" being there, its an arrow with a drop down menu. from there, you can close one or all of the applications that are running.. it will be something like this:
Activsync [X]
Internet E. [X]
Windows L. [X]
and so on and so on.. pretty cool.
ALSO, there is a bluetooth icon and wifi icon on the today screen, to where you can turn either/or on and off. Which is convenient.
Icons and colors, etc are all the same.. but there are little quirks here and there that make the official release different..

This is the HTCHomeplug today screen plugin.
Both thinks you can put on any existing WM6 (or WM5) rom.

That task bar was in one of the roms that we had here (maybe AKU 3.3). except there wasnt the Icon in that area. I found it by accident. I will try to remember which one it was. You had to hold the stylus in the area where the X normally would be with an open application and it would pop-up.

I seriously doubt it.
THAT "wing" is the Universal, and the link you posted from the Reg is from early 2005.
If I had to guess, i'd say that the T-mobile USA "wing" is going to be the VOX.

First.
there may be a new Task Manager in the final Wm6, and a new on Todayscreen Comm manager. among other things. whether it will be HTC developed (likely) or 3rd party software(less likely)
"Neither one may be initial available upon the Herald release but in subsequent rom updates. or for purchase from the Marketplace/Handango." it is unclear. as i understand it MSFT is going to be pushing an integrated software ecosystem a la itunes for phone software cept integrated into the device.
I know that microsoft is really going to push this marketplace thing this year, thats one of the points I got out of the Windows mobile folks @ the vista launch event. we should see a much more organised system for getting software than what we have seen in the past. Im really excited.
Second.
He saw the Herald.
Third.
This thing is going live sometime during/after april
Fourth
Tmobile May not end up with the vox unless the price point gets lower. (I have not heard anything about this device in awhile, it could still be coming) - it doesnt really make sense though since the price point on the dash is so low and the specs r almost the same.
fifth
the HTC wing is a 3g Phone and I have heard nothing about it since it was initial announced.
sixth
I have no idea why im numbering these.

HTC Wing:
400MHz Samsung, Windows Mobile 6 Pro, 3G/HSDPA, 2.4"QVGA LCD, ROM 128MB, RAM 64MB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 1.9-megapixel Camera, 50 x 100 x 19mm, 120g

I have the Navigon 2100max PNA and prefer Navigon to TomTom and IGo etc. Very pleased with it so the PDA version should be just as good.
Here are the xml modifications to support HD res. Have not tried it yet as I don't have the phone yet.
Im hoping this works, 'cause navigator 6 hangs on my HD as well as on my girlfriends Omnia. Haven't found the reason yet, but I think it's a resolution thing...

Their website doesn't show the Touch HD as a compatible device:

Never used navigon, but I like what I see!
Yes but it supports other windows mobile devices and you know what, they are nearly all the same at the end of the day. As I said, I have the Navigon 2100max. Bought it half price for £99 from Halfords. It uses MN7 software which is fast. Love it.
Here is a trailer for Mobile Navigator 7 for those who have never used it to see what its like. Its very popular in Europe but less so in UK as TomTom seem to be the leaders.

Looks very interesting. It has speed warning? Is that by comparing your actual speed against the legal limit of that particular stretch of road or merely against a preset speed?

Hi,
how does TMC reception exactly work - will it use the implemented radio module? I mean, if I buy MN7 and install it on my HD, will I automatically be able to use TMC (with headset antenna plugged in, I mean)? Or do I need additional hardware? Mobile navigation does not make sense to me without TMC (in Germany ...), and I wonder if I really can throw away my PNA and use the Touch HD instead.
Eriol
A few answers to above questions.
I am happy with the UK Text to speech. Announces roads very well.
Not sure about if TMC uses radio built into phone as I dont have HD yet but I presume it does. I also presume you would need to plug in a usb lead or headphones to act as the antenna just like in the PNA version.
According to Navigon, TMC reception is available at no charge in the following countries: A, B, CH, CZ, D, DK, E, I, N, NL, S.
As for installing it, copy the folders in the download to the root of your SD card. Then go to folder 2577 and hit the install05 cab. Then copy the xml files in the 1st post and overwrite them with the relevant ones on the sd card.

Is the solution you present here using the full 800x480 pixel screen size or is it just stretching 640x480 to 800x480 (as proposed in some German navigation forums some weeks ago)?
I wonder why Navigon has not yet changed its MN7 to the realities and offers a true 800x480 product ...
As for the TMC: I read in different forums that TMC would not work, but none of the posters was able to test this. Another option would be to download traffic data via internet; TomTom is able to do this now with its latest PDA versions.

Actually I don't know how it works with MN7, however I changed just the "BinaryConfig.xml" into the MN 6.2.5 version... and I found the stretched result pretty ugly !!
So I came back with the "normal" resolution of 640x480... and it works well, even if a part of the screen isn't used... ;-)
Read post 11. He has tried it and says it is fullscreen. Maybe he can tell us if it looks good or not.

That's exactly what I'm trying to explain... ;-)
I did it in "fullscreen" with the version 6.2.5... and the result is awful !! Icons and menus are completely deformed...
That way, I don’t like it at all, however it’s just my point of view... ;-)
Yes but you have said you have used version 6.2.5. This thread is about version 7.0 so MN7 may be different on full screen and improved.

If you want to get Omnia 7 on t-mobile,
The 30quid *18-month contract (with 55 cashback - 25 from the site, 30 from topcashback) on buymobilephones .net seems a good dealto me!

Same problem with my Omnia 7 I'm not reditect to the youtube player using IE to see a page which has an embedded you tube video. Any help? theres no too much things to configurate so I don't know how we can fix the problem.
The same here. Plugin just plays fine from m.youtube
But on websites with YouTube videos nothing happens. Blank space.
I suggest to all of us to expose the problem also here , in Microsoft Answers social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsphone7/threads/ This is not only happens in few devices there are HD7, Focus, Optimus 7 and Omnia 7 with this issue.
It's a region bug another WP7 user discovered that if he changes the system language from english (canada) to english (United States) the Youtube plugin works properly. I have an unlocked Omnia 7 in Spain and for me works english (United Kindom).
Indeed does not work. Im dutch but have my omia7 on italian since it lacks dutch support. Embedded youtube does stay blank and does not work. Ill switch to usa to see if it works. Is it language or region related?
Think I got a hint from this post

WARNING! If you change your OEM too many times you will break the DRM and have to reset your phone to download/use apps from the Marketplace. Use at your own risk.
Ok so I was playing around with my registry on my Focus and I found if I changed the following key:
Code:
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\OemName
from SAMSUNG to either HTC or LG, in the Marketplace it changes from Samsung Zone to the other OEM's app repositories.
Also if you put in something like MICROSOFT it removes any OEM repository.
I also attempted to change the MOName from "AT&T Wireless" to "Microsoft" in order to get rid of AT&T's branding in the Marketplace but I couldn't get it to change. I think it might be linked to the SIM card. If anyone has any ideas please let me know as I hate with a passion carrier branding.
Valid OemName Strings (case sensitive):
SAMSUNG
HTC
LG
Works great with my Focus. Ive downloaded the HTC sound enhancer and works great so far. I also downloaded the Piano app on the LG store and it works perfectly as well.
Hi i'm new at this and i wanna know step by step how to change that registry key hope you could help me

Hello guys !
Im working with a HTC Mozart, T-Mobile GER Version 7932 with Chevron Unlock
With Julien Schapmans Registry Editor beta 1.1.0.0 i got the message "Acess to HKLM/System is restricted", and there is no "Platform" Folder inside.
I can find a "Platform" folder ind the HKLM Folder, but the acess is restricted too and there is just a "Default" string inside...
Any suggestions ?^^
Does indeed work fine on my LG Quantum but a lot of the HTC apps(Hub, Notes, Converter) would download but not run. The only ones I was able to run successfully were Attentive Phone and Sound Enhancer. Anyone else have better luck?

The registry editor you are using might not have full permissions to "view" like LG's MFG tool or Heathcliff's Root Tool's for the Samsung phones. But you should be able to "write" to any device using some tricks found here.

Some apps require OEM specific dll's and they will not run, and some do a check to make sure it is a valid device, this might be able to be fixed via some more registry tweaks.
@samsung users..
take this tool:
http://dotconn.de/main/news/homebrew-wp-root-tools-0-3-alpha/
Here are some XAP's to deploy provxml's to the device for those of you with an HTC device since we don't have access to that registry path. You can use schap's Advanced Config to provision the files once deployed.
Chrism583, do the two HTC apps you downloaded work on the LG? Wondering if they require specific hardware.
Just tried attentive phone and it wouldn't keep any of the checks/settings I set. I guess it doesn't work on the LG.

probably same as on LGs. these apps are hardware specific and either need extra registry settings or system files to work. or the specific calls to the hardware simply don't exist on our phones.
Thats it? ONE REGISTRY KEY??? Amazing!
oh, and Samsung focus (at&t), I downloaded the LG guitar learning app and it totally restarted my device... maybe it's just me. LG piano app works perfectly however not much else does. Oh, and changing your OEM to Dell doesn't give u dell app store (maybe we have someone with a DVP who has registry access and can check what their key says).

Actually DVP owners don't even need registry access. All we need is for them to go to 'Settings' -> 'About' -> 'Model: XXXX XXXX'
The 'Model' is actually two keys, the first set of X's are the 'OemName' key the second set are either the 'MODeviceName' or 'OEMDeviceName' key, I'm not sure which as both on mine read the same 'SGH-i917' however if I had to guess I would bet it's 'OEMDeviceName'
On a side note, does Dell even have an OEM repository?
Edit: I just tried 'NOKIA' for the fun of it... nothing. Wishful thinking
