navigon for free - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

i was looking on the market for a good gps navigation for my galaxy s when i saw the galaxy tab navigon free program so i tried to install it and it works great here in Australia.I not sure if this is common knowledge but is was news to me ,once the programed installed it downloaded Australia map
i have 2.2 rooted phone but looks like its only for Australia & NZ

doesn't run on rooted 2.1.
error says it's intended for specific devices and cannot run on my device.
:-(

Could you provide a link to it ?
Sent from my Intergalactic Supah Dupah Spaceship¡¡!!!

Doesn't run on non rooted 2.1 sgs either

Not everyone can see it on the market so can you copy it from data/app folder and post here?

Its a real shame cause i have the app but due to the fact that i live in Saudi, the actual service is not available, so back to iphone navigon app :-(

Using both Appbrain and the Market app, I can't find it. Appbrain shows a paid app for the US and Market doesn't find anything.
Is this limited to certain countries or something? I'm in South Africa.
Would really appreciate a free Navigation app instead of the hacked Google Navigation...

It keeps fcín on connecting to server. Rooteded, 341MB rom with al tweaks en ext4 lagfix

It is only free in Australia and New Zealand. App is xcalled MobileNavigator Samsung and maps are provided by Navteq. App is intended for Galaxy Tab.

We're all sorted then!

I live in New zealand but can't find it on the market.
I guess it's cos I have JPO XEU firmware.
Can anyone please post the app here?
I hear it's free in New Zealand.
thanks

Don't see it in the market, only have Navigon System Check.

free nav
if you cant get this to work try brut maps. its a hacked version of google nav that says your in the usa so it works in aus

Awesome. It's downloading the maps for me now Running JPA (Darky's steel mod) with Optus CSC applied and original OPS product code.
I'll dump and upload the apk later today if anyone wants it (it probably (?) only works in australia/nz though).

www.tomtom.com ;-)
if your using 3G you could also use Googlemaps for the phone.
for more information: http://www.google.com/mobile/gmm/index.html
point your phones browser to http://www.google.com/gmm
any freebies?
The only free one I know of is Googlemaps that I already spoke about. tTough you pay for the data downloaded via your ISP using 3G/Wifi.
tbh who would make a GPS Navigation application and ask nothing for it?
How about smart2go, you can download the maps for free of Europe and do navigation (on screen) all for free. The only bit you pay for is the voice prompts.
I use tomtom, but I've given it a go and it works pretty well. I'm planning on using it in greece later in the year as there's better coverage than the version of tomtom I have.
It's a little fiddly to get the map loader program to install the maps, but if you try and have a problem let me know and I'll try and find out what I did to get it working.

any source or link? download link?
i would like the tomtom version....actually everyone is talking bout it also.
http://www.smart2go.com (free)
or
http://www.tomtom.com (certainly not free!)
Hehehe.
I love all the answers skirting around what he's asking for...
Nobody can give you a link to Pirated software on this forum, sorry. Search Google for that.
Another FREE alternative is Microsoft Live Search. It's actually a pretty good GPS program if you look around in it. Also, it uses speech recognition to input what you are looking for. Give it a try.

[Q] GPS program

Does anyone have a GPS program with Swedish maps? Or know where I can get one?
It should also be free
If, where can I download it?

Tomtom(.com) (route planner) works well and has Swedish maps, for oziexplorer(.com) (topografic maps), also Swedish maps exist as I remember well. Both work well but are officially not free.

Ever heard of Google? try tomtom 7.9 pda and it will help you on your way.
Or try news groups. For oziexplorer, there is a demo version on the web site. Maps via news groups
Hi!
I like NaviComputer a lot. It is free and you can use the NaviMapper application, which comes with the installation on your desktop to download OpenStreetMaps. This way you can stay offline all the time, but have great maps.
This tool is not meant to be a Navigation software like TomTom etc.
The only downside of the program in my opinion is, that you cannot search for street names. You always need to have a rough idea, where you want to go.
I'm using it for GeoCaching for instance.

Try sygic mobile maps 10

Gps navigation software

I am new to android which is giving me many choices for navigation. What is the best navigation software android has to offer? I prefer Garmin but there is not an app for it.

Google Maps navigation is in my opinion the best. also sprint nav isn't too bad, but google is better.
Telenav for Sprint seems kind of dodgey on all the devices I have ever used it on. I will try the google one thank you.

is there any navigation program like igo8? which doesnt require any 3G data download connection to load the map?
cause in malaysia, the data download cost is ridiciously high.
CoPilot Live is what you're looking for (I use it, nice). It's in the Market, and the whole U.S maps are on special for $4.99. Sweet deal.
Check out their site for info on maps of other locales.
Navigon had an Android gps app but they pulled it sometime ago.
Forgive My Brevity. To Be Or Not To Be...
I used MapDroyd when I went across country. No data connection at all in the deserts.
MapDroyd is good!!! but they doesnt give me navigation to the destination..
any more suggestion?

Did you even try CoPilot Live? It's a full GPS navigation app with TTS.
yeap, CoPilot is not in the market apps, and its a paid application.
anymore suggestion? i used to use iGO8(crACKED) on my omnia and diamond2....
also im in melbourne(australia) and Kuala Lumpur(malaysia) often
I've tried co pilot, and Igo and they are all slow at responding. I find google maps work very smoothly and does everything u need.

So you're looking or warez then or something free? Dude, there's always Google or Yahoo or Bing.
Otherwise, CoPilot Australia details are here http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/travel/copilot-live-australia-nz_boqf.html
or
Ndrive might be your best bet as they have maps for both Australia and Malaysia (Asia and Oceania) here http://www.ndriveweb.com/products/product/7/

What is the best standalone GPS app for Android?

I am going to the US in two weeks and would like a GPS Nav app that works without a data connection. So far I have looked at reviews for Navigon, NavDroyd, and CoPilot.
What is the best standalone GPS navigation app for Android? Is Navigon worth the higher price? What other ones have I missed?
Copilot for me
If you can, try out the new version of Sygic.
It's called Sygic Aura.
It's just awesome, very good navigation software, well developed, simple to use and extraordinary graphics.
Try it, you will love it!
i tried Sygic last week on my galaxy s and worked great
I got the copilot US special for USD 4.99 and tested it 2 weeks ago on a trip to NY. in the taxi from JFK to Manhattan it worked just great!
also - you can move both the maps and the app to the external SD thus saving space for apps on internal memory (this requires a simple trick but there is a recent thread for that here describing it - search for it).
also tried NDrive and Aura - Aura's UI is strange, don't like it and NDrive is simple but OK but can not move app or maps to external - this is a no go for me. also got the free navigon Australia special but could not test it (only maps for Australia and NZ - and you can not explore the maps if you don't have a GPS signal in that area - bad)
good luck
I use navigon, copilot and igo (yes, it works on high res devices ) all work great
I've tried allmost all of them. But allways end up using Navigon 3.5. The look is clean and simple. Cant say anything bad about it.
Sygic is a great android tool with the look and feel of TOMTOM (the benchmark in navigation).
XDA App
CoPilot for me . I had it on my WinMo device and when I switch to Galaxy I thought they wouldn't have Android version , but there it is.
Very happy with it.
I hear Sygic Aura isn't for AUSTRALIA. What is the best for AUSTRALIAN territories?

How did you get thee 4.99 special?
used market enabler app to put myself in the US and tehre it was in the market - a special deal they had for some weeks. not sure if they still have it. with Docs latest rom I can not search the market at the moment - will let you know ASAP.
still on market for 3.99 euros
Thanks Chris. I shall try them when the gps of the SGS works better with the 2.2 update.
Copilot is good but with IgoMyWay, we have a 3D view with relief... Very good!

The latest Google maps works perfectly in Australia right to your door with step by step direction list and turn by turn *voice* navigation and then you can use all the Google services to locate petrol station, restaurants etc - I was using copilot but i think it was a bit bloated and sometimes buggy on my samsung galaxy s. I honestly can't believe how good google maps does the job

Does this version allow you to also use maps from outside the US?
Standalone?
Hello,
Are these apps really standalone, I mean no data plan needed? I saw some are asking a monthly fee also.
Thank you,
Liviu

Somehow i can't instal thos apps on my omnia 7 :/
edit: Nvm it's working now
Thanks. I decompiled them to look if there was some driver access we had not known before on Samsungs. But unfortunately there isn't. The interfaces in the Diagnosis app are the most advanced implementation we know now so far.
I haven't tried to install the apps. Are they any good?
This looks like most of these apps are form t-mobile and some samsung ones.
The t-mobile apps suck though Only the navigation app is good but you can only use it with a t-mobile sim inside...

The whole homebrew stuff in this forum for Samsung is from these apps (the DLLs inside them).
So people have been using them for 3 months now...

Yeah, I read the post and wanted to put it on my phone as I need the maps for germany but decided to wait for the 1st update from ms. Since they said that they patched the hole for the jailbreak.
O2 germany will release a nav app from telmap sometime in the coming weeks I hope but I read that it will require data connection...
