Hi all,
I've been browsing these forums for months and ive run into a problem with my Desire HD that I cant find an answer for with google/searching this forum.
I am currently using my phone as a wifi adapter for my laptop running XP. I want to use it for the same thing for my PC running Windows 7. It was very simple with my laptop, I just installed Sync, plugged in via usb and selected tethering on my phone.
I tried this on my PC, installing Sync, connecting via usb and selecting tethering on my phone, this time I get nothing. When I switch to sync or mass storage device my PC detects it almost instantly, when I switch back to usb tethering nothing happens.
Im very confused as when I look at my network connections using ncpa.cpl in run the phone isnt listed as an adapter, but when I view my network connections on my laptop, its there.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Without being sat in front of your pc its hard to say, i know with my laptop win7 32 bit it works fine ,i will try my desktop the weekend when i get home its running 7, 64 bit see if it works there.
Other than that i would say pc not installing the right drivers or something like that. try unistall sync redownload and reinstall again...

I just plugged my DHD into my desktop and it made a connection right away without me doing anything. And I dont even have HTC Sync installed. Try uninstalling it and plugg your DHD into your desktop computer and with usb tethering activated.
I installed HTC sync first before I even tried, and USB tethering works fine. Using Win 7 Pro x64 by the way.
Intermittent internet connection w/ USB Teethering!
Hi All,
I am experiencing a similar issue to the original poster...to all those none believers this is a real issue, and there is no point in reinstalling drivers, as Windows 7 x64 definitely can see the phone (which it would not be able to do if drivers were in conflict or if drivers didn't exist!).
My issue is a little stranger again in that I am able to connect to the internet intermittently, sometimes an internet connection is obtained and sometimes it simply isn't.
Here is an IPCONFIG output from one of the instances when I was not able to connect:
Code:

Could please someone post all the settings on the Trinity ( Computer:, User name:,Password, Domain ) and what to do exactly on the XP Pro.
I have a D-Link Router ( I believe I must open Port 3889 - but it´s hard because there are some strange settings [ destination - source .... ].

So i presume that the RDP service on your winXP is active and the SP2 firewall accept RDP entrance connections...i'm right?
P.S. Have u the last Firmware?
@kheops
Last Firmware ? Not till yet - but I can do it - no problem !
The new firmware does not delete my router settings ?
Cheers
Gregor
I must Have two port open:
3389 Both
1789 Both
This works oke.
@janegsm
What means both ??
Source and destination ???
Cheers
Gregor
On my ADSL router:
In/Out port 3389 TCP
In/Out port 1789 TCP
Destination IP adres is my server IP adres
(no source adres)
new firmware
yep the new firmware delete your settings...u can make a backup of the settings?
SO! go in the admin page of your router...
In Advanced / Virtual Server
Name: MyRDP
Private IP: type ipconfig on your RDPcomputer to know its ip adress
Protocol Type: TCP
Private Port: 3389
Public Port: 3389
Schedule: always
verify the rules
In Advanced / Firewalls...
@kheops
Done !
But still my Trinity shows me following message :
Cannot connect. Likely reasons are:
1. Specified computer name or ip does not exist
2.A network error occurred while establishing the connection.
The IP ist only the first line under ipconfig - right ?
( subnet and standardgateway is not relevant ).
Concerning your former post :
- I activated both ticks on my XP Pro : remote support plus remote desktop
I named a remote user - in my case it is "Administrator". XP says that "Administrator" is in use even if its not named but I have named itin the user box. Also I have set a password for "Administrator".
- My XP firewall is not activated because I have a router firewall !
Something wrong till yet ?
Cheers
Gregor

If u are on HOME LAN the ip adress is what u can see with ipconfig...
If u are on Internet the ip adress is a pubblic IP that u can see on router...or if u use DynamicDNS like DynDNS...
@kheops
hmmmm.... please try to do not irritate me with too much informations
I have to fill in the ip address of the first line : 192.168.0.2 - correct ?
On my Trinity I have to fill in the ip address or can I name my Computer as written in "name" of router settings ( Virtual and Firewall ) ?
One more stupid question :
I start WLAN on my Trinity and wait until the Trinity connected with my WLAN Router DI-624. Then I start Remote Desktop Mobile on my Trinity - fill in the computer name - fill in my computer account name "Administrator" - then my password - domain box remains empty. Then connect / and only the error message will follow.
Now my question: How does the Trinity knows - only with my computer name - where in the whole wide web he will find my computer here in my office ???
May be its not such thrilling if I´m logged in on my WLAN Router in my office where the XP Pro is connected to the Router too - but how does this work if my Trinity is logged in a WLAN on Starbucks or somewhere else ???
I overlooked something - right
Cheers

Its a bit complicated to talk about DNS(my limit is my english...)
u just to know that if u want to fill in your rdpclient adress a name u must use a DynamicDNS that your router use
TOOLS /MISC -> Dynamic DNS...because i presume that u dont have a static public ip adress with your Internet provvider....see www.dyndns.org
u can see your dynamic ip adress in
STATUS
ip adress [WAN]
@kheops
O.K. - now I believe slowly that I have to differentiate between logged in with Trinity per WLAN on my Router itself ( is this "home LAN" ? ) and logged in on a external WLAN.
What are the differences in settings on my Trinity
Sometimes I believe that I have understood - only the recognize some minutes later that there are much more difficulties to solve
Cheers
Gregor
P.S.: Where to fill in IP ? .... I thought on " Remote Desktop Mobil" on my Trinity behind "Computer:" - correct ?
FOR CONNECTING OUTSIDE UR LAN:
What u have to do is connect to the ouside (WAN) address of ur router. This is the the IP address u have to fill in ur remote desktop to connect to. Go to www.whatsmyip.net on ur home pc to find out whats ur WAN address
U configure ur router to forward the specific port (in this case 3389) to the IP address of ur computer(be sure u have a static ip address).
FOR CONNECTING WITHIN UR LAN(same IP range):
just fill the ip addres of the host.
can post someone download link for Remote Desktop Mobile...thanx
Hi all helping friends!
Now I have set my router to a static IP ( the current one which i found on these ip-finder-side ).
By the way : Do I have disadvantages with a static IP ?
I also have additional enabled under Advanced / Firewall these IP with port 3389 !
I cannot additional enable these static IP under "Virtual" settings on my router - ´ve got a message that there is a conflict with something.
Then I have put these static IP on my Trinity behind "Computer:" - but still no chance to connect to my XP !!!
There is only now a third error message : May be too much connections!
Gregor
heuuuuu....
I'm not sure that u can change ip adress to dynamic to static...without consequence...
please help.

i have re-install the driver and point the location to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers" and still no luck
and this kind of screen show up :
Please can some-one help me, i'm so desprate
You can try uninstalling the driver, then uninstalling ActiveSync (as the driver is included with the ActiveSync installation). Reboot. Then re-download a fresh copy of ActiveSync 4.5 and install. Reboot again and then connect your phone and see if you can activate Internet Sharing successfully.
Give that a try and report back.
thanks for the reply,
ive :
- uninstall the driver,
- uninstall the active sync,
- reboot
- download new microsoft active sync
- reboot
- and intall active sync again
- tap on internet sharing icon
nope its still show the same error. any other solution?
what's with downloading another copy of activ sync, anyway?
did someone here know, where is the driver file located, when the hardware install?
Activesync drivers
I've never had this problem before, but I've attached a screen shot of the activesync device drivers. I'm not sure if it will help.
Did activesync used to work OK before and now it doesn't? Have you installed anything else since then? Maybe there is a conflict with another driver.

microsoft active sync 4.5 still work fine, its still can syncronized with out installing the "windows mobile-based device" driver. see at the pic bellow :
did anyone have more solution on this? please
I don't see the network adapter for your "Windows Mobile based device" in the device settings. (Check my screen shots.) I only see your LAN, Wireless and 1394 Firewire adapters.
If you look at the driver info you will see that windows uses the same drivers for the Internet connection sharing and Active Sync.
When I enable Internet Sharing on my PDA then it automatically turns off the Activesync connection and connects via Internet sharing.

that's the point, when i connect my hemes to laptop using usb there is a buble pop-up saying "USB device not recognized".
then i look to device manager, there is no network adapter saying "windows mobile-based device"
just when i tap on internet sharing and connect on my hermes, it show up "windows mobile-based device" of course with yellow icon.
and even with out the driver install, i still can syncronive using active sync
any other solution?
Wow! Really strange problem. I understand where you are at. Have you only had this problem with this particular ROM?
Do you have another USB cable you can test with it?
The required drivers are in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers
rndismpx.sys
usb8023x.sys
Check and if they are there then maybe swap USB port and also check the cable. Can you try to install activesync on another computer for testing?
Sorry, probably not too much help for you. It's gotta be a process of elimination. Let me know if there's any other info I can send you.
the
- rndismpx.sys
- usb8023x.sys
is not present in windows driver, but i copy the files in to it. but still no luck.
thanks for the help though really appriciate it.
i'm looking for this file "Usb_Rndis.ndi" do you have it, or know where can i got it?

Sorry I don't have this file. I suspect something strange with your activesync, though I don't know why.
same problem!
Dear brainet
I have exactly the same problem.
do you find any solution?
Thanks.
i've got the same problem
I have also the same problem. I tested with different roms and differents PC. Windows Vista and Windows XP. the internet sharing works fine for a time and them connection its broken, appears the ballon USB Don't recognized.
I have to restart the phone to use internet again or to sync with active sync.
This is a windows problem. When i use internet sharing with Linux Ubuntu. i don't have this problem.
HTC 8525 HER100
Current ROM WM6.1 Shadow 2.1 TE
Previous ROM WM6 Schaps 4.31
If you have this problem and it has never worked, try a different USB cable. I have a cable that doesnt support syncing over USB, replacing the cable worked fine. This sint a fix for everyone, but it is worth a shot.
Internet Sharing
I don't know if this will help, but it's worth looking over:
AT&T 8525 WM6 USB Internet Sharing.
This may sound obvious but one of the main problems with active sync connecting to your device are firewalls. They block the connection. Disconnect from the internet, switch off all your firewalls and try reconnecting.
I had this same problem. Even registering active syc in my firewall program didnt help. The only solution is to switch it off completely. Some firewalls allow the connection (trend Micro/(my work)), some don't at all (K7 internet security/home) and some allow intermittently. Don't forget to switch off windows firewall too.
or suddenly internet sharing does not work with softbank in Japan?
I also have the same problem, all of a sudden. I wonder if softbank Japan have somehow disabled it from April 1st or something crazy. It would not surprise me... Unless anybody has found a solution?
Hi, I had the same problem, too. I used htc838pro before to do internet sharing and it was working great. Then I got htc3702 (victor) and tried to do internet sharing. It failed to connect successfully with htc3702. Then I went back to my htc838pro, it failed too with same problem. I tried with my Acer NB (XP) and Acer desktop (home pc, XP). They were failed with htc3702 first and then failed following with htc838pro. My htc838pro still works fine with any PC or NB which have not tried htc3702 before. I don't know if there is coincidence or not. But it looks like that I need to re-install XP on my Acer NB if I want to restore its normal function with my htc838pro. However, I think it should be able to be fixed... just don't want to give it up so soon. Thanks. YJ
May be this helps

If it's a private home setup try adding "everyone" to the share list.
Edit: I misread your post. Pretty sure my info is useless for your situation.
Any luck on getting your android device to access your netgear readyshare? I'm in the same boat. I can share a folder in xp just fine, and access it in ES File Explorer but it just doesn't take the readyshare password. Also tried File Expert but no luck.
Same problem for me.
Cannot access readyshare on my netgear dgn2000 router from the Galaxy Tab.
For anyone still trying to achieve netgear usb_storage readyshare access on their android device:
I am using ES File Explorer to access my hard drive (1.5TB) on my Wifi network (NetgearWNDR3400) using the FTP tab in ES File Explorer.
Login to the router 192 . 168 . 1 . 1 (for this model) on your pc or phone browser and enable the ftp access method under the usb storage advanced settings. Ive kept all-access no password for the time being.
In ES File Explorer you will add a new ftp server using 192 . 168 . 0 . 3/shares as the ftp server. check the anonymous box and make sure you are using port 21 then tap ok.
Your shared drive should now appear as "[email protected] 192 . 168 . 0 . 3" in the FTP Servers window.
I was also able to see my shares using my phone browser (dolphin) by using http: / / readyshare . routerlogin . net / shares in the url, but this not as usefule as using ES File Explorer cut and paste files and folders.
Before getting this new router, I was sharing the drive over my network by using my Windows desktop as a server. The best part of this was that ES File Explorer would easily scan and find the server in the LAN Shares. The problem with this setup was that the desktop had to be on whenever I wanted access to my external drive over wifi and (because of DHCP on the router) the IP address was not exactly the same everyday because of multiple devices on the network.
All this can be done in Astro as well, but you'll need to download the smb module.
Sorry about the spaces in the urls. The forum would not let me post the "links" because of spam rules.

By the way, forgot to mention
the LAN Shares doesn't work because the HDD is formatted in FAT32 for Windows OS use. You would have to reformat your drive in ext3 for Linux use in order access it from your android device. Not a solution when you have hundreds of gigs of data on it already.
ES File Explorer FTP and ReadyShare
Thanks repligator for your how-to. Why did you use 192. 168. 0. 3 as your FTP site? I tried using the IP address of the router, in my case, 192. 168. 0. 1. and was able to see the icon for my ReadyShare device but when I tried to use the icon it said "Sorry, no application available".
I am using a DGN2200 router with the ReadyShare capability. I have read that there might be a bug with the Netgear code and a newer firmware out shortly will fix this. I can get limited functionality with either Internet access method (https or ftp internet). Thanks.
I had the same problem.
Try 192.168.0.1/shares/USB_Storage/
This shcould work if you didn't changed this in your routerconfiguration. You have to link the Harddrive.
I'm using dgn2200b with newest firmware...

This is the usb configuration in my router.
Do you know where is the problem?
Whi not work my android phone with hard disk link to router??
You need to check the FTP box and save the settings (Applica). Then in ES File Explorer use the FTP connection and use the Documenti.routerlogin.net/shares as the address. Your settings look like you should be able to use anonymous, no user or password. You also have to be on the network with the device.

i would really appreciate if a user from india extracts phone dialer apk and uploads it here so we can test.
i've seen the same worked for huawei phones.
To activate the call recording it is not the call apk, it is a code that is added to the build.pro or the csc, I do not remember well in one of the two.

thanks for your insight, i was totally clueless before.
it's csc , which is the country code.
here is my experience id like to share :
1-dial *#1234# with your dialer , and it shows you 3 numbers , screenshot it and save it somewhere diffrent than in your phone.
2-download your indonesian firmware for a32 from sammobile that has the same version ending characters as yours.
3-choose home csc from the package and put it in csc part of odin.
4- connect your pc to your phone with an original cable to a usb2 port (if you are on a pc , use backside ports of case) , disconnect every other usb devices.
5-click start of odin , the whole process should be completed in less than a minute and you will get native call recording without data loss.
Thanks for this guide. Works without data loss.

HI,
in my case, Galaxy A32 4g, it works great, take less than 30s. If I need to make a factory reset? My old CSC was OXM, is it still in the phone?
Best regards

Please I want to find out whether I have to root my phone before I start or I should just go ahead without rooting the phone. I'm grateful for sharing your knowledge here.

After change csc ,when you make call is caller ID fail to identify number region? I guess it will fail..pls confirm
Please update, I need this as well. When you change the CSC does it do a reset? That is usually required. I'm trying to do it on my brothers phone and would rather not tell him i need to do a hard reset
Sir, I have done procedure step by step as you guided but in notification message shown, (Process completed 0/ successful 0). Nothing change in mobile too. please guide about your Point 4. Either we connect mobile with PC through USB cable without Flashing mode or put mobile in flashing mode first then connect to PC? Please guide step by step, because I am a simple mobile user not software engineer. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have performed step by step all procedure but not successful. Screen short attached. Please guide, either attache Mobile with PC in Flashing mode (using Home+Power+vol down key) or simply attach with USB cable and allow to use data?
