I am trying to access my netgear readyshare usb drive. I can access it over the internet with ftp. I want to access it from my lan drive but I keep getting wrong username or password. I am using ES explorer to do this. Does anyone have any experience with this?

If it's a private home setup try adding "everyone" to the share list.
Edit: I misread your post. Pretty sure my info is useless for your situation.
Any luck on getting your android device to access your netgear readyshare? I'm in the same boat. I can share a folder in xp just fine, and access it in ES File Explorer but it just doesn't take the readyshare password. Also tried File Expert but no luck.
Same problem for me.
Cannot access readyshare on my netgear dgn2000 router from the Galaxy Tab.
For anyone still trying to achieve netgear usb_storage readyshare access on their android device:
I am using ES File Explorer to access my hard drive (1.5TB) on my Wifi network (NetgearWNDR3400) using the FTP tab in ES File Explorer.
Login to the router 192 . 168 . 1 . 1 (for this model) on your pc or phone browser and enable the ftp access method under the usb storage advanced settings. Ive kept all-access no password for the time being.
In ES File Explorer you will add a new ftp server using 192 . 168 . 0 . 3/shares as the ftp server. check the anonymous box and make sure you are using port 21 then tap ok.
Your shared drive should now appear as "[email protected] 192 . 168 . 0 . 3" in the FTP Servers window.
I was also able to see my shares using my phone browser (dolphin) by using http: / / readyshare . routerlogin . net / shares in the url, but this not as usefule as using ES File Explorer cut and paste files and folders.
Before getting this new router, I was sharing the drive over my network by using my Windows desktop as a server. The best part of this was that ES File Explorer would easily scan and find the server in the LAN Shares. The problem with this setup was that the desktop had to be on whenever I wanted access to my external drive over wifi and (because of DHCP on the router) the IP address was not exactly the same everyday because of multiple devices on the network.
All this can be done in Astro as well, but you'll need to download the smb module.
Sorry about the spaces in the urls. The forum would not let me post the "links" because of spam rules.
---------- Post added at 08:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:43 AM ----------
By the way, forgot to mention
the LAN Shares doesn't work because the HDD is formatted in FAT32 for Windows OS use. You would have to reformat your drive in ext3 for Linux use in order access it from your android device. Not a solution when you have hundreds of gigs of data on it already.
ES File Explorer FTP and ReadyShare
Thanks repligator for your how-to. Why did you use 192. 168. 0. 3 as your FTP site? I tried using the IP address of the router, in my case, 192. 168. 0. 1. and was able to see the icon for my ReadyShare device but when I tried to use the icon it said "Sorry, no application available".
I am using a DGN2200 router with the ReadyShare capability. I have read that there might be a bug with the Netgear code and a newer firmware out shortly will fix this. I can get limited functionality with either Internet access method (https or ftp internet). Thanks.
I had the same problem.
Try 192.168.0.1/shares/USB_Storage/
This shcould work if you didn't changed this in your routerconfiguration. You have to link the Harddrive.
I'm using dgn2200b with newest firmware...
Greetings

This is the usb configuration in my router.
Do you know where is the problem?
Whi not work my android phone with hard disk link to router??
You need to check the FTP box and save the settings (Applica). Then in ES File Explorer use the FTP connection and use the Documenti.routerlogin.net/shares as the address. Your settings look like you should be able to use anonymous, no user or password. You also have to be on the network with the device.

Worked a Treat

So i presume that the RDP service on your winXP is active and the SP2 firewall accept RDP entrance connections...i'm right?
P.S. Have u the last Firmware?
@kheops
Last Firmware ? Not till yet - but I can do it - no problem !
The new firmware does not delete my router settings ?
Cheers
Gregor
I must Have two port open:
3389 Both
1789 Both
This works oke.
@janegsm
What means both ??
Source and destination ???
Cheers
Gregor
On my ADSL router:
In/Out port 3389 TCP
In/Out port 1789 TCP
Destination IP adres is my server IP adres
(no source adres)
new firmware
yep the new firmware delete your settings...u can make a backup of the settings?
SO! go in the admin page of your router...
In Advanced / Virtual Server
Name: MyRDP
Private IP: type ipconfig on your RDPcomputer to know its ip adress
Protocol Type: TCP
Private Port: 3389
Public Port: 3389
Schedule: always
verify the rules
In Advanced / Firewalls...
@kheops
Done !
But still my Trinity shows me following message :
Cannot connect. Likely reasons are:
1. Specified computer name or ip does not exist
2.A network error occurred while establishing the connection.
The IP ist only the first line under ipconfig - right ?
( subnet and standardgateway is not relevant ).
Concerning your former post :
- I activated both ticks on my XP Pro : remote support plus remote desktop
I named a remote user - in my case it is "Administrator". XP says that "Administrator" is in use even if its not named but I have named itin the user box. Also I have set a password for "Administrator".
- My XP firewall is not activated because I have a router firewall !
Something wrong till yet ?
Cheers
Gregor

If u are on HOME LAN the ip adress is what u can see with ipconfig...
If u are on Internet the ip adress is a pubblic IP that u can see on router...or if u use DynamicDNS like DynDNS...
@kheops
hmmmm.... please try to do not irritate me with too much informations
I have to fill in the ip address of the first line : 192.168.0.2 - correct ?
On my Trinity I have to fill in the ip address or can I name my Computer as written in "name" of router settings ( Virtual and Firewall ) ?
One more stupid question :
I start WLAN on my Trinity and wait until the Trinity connected with my WLAN Router DI-624. Then I start Remote Desktop Mobile on my Trinity - fill in the computer name - fill in my computer account name "Administrator" - then my password - domain box remains empty. Then connect / and only the error message will follow.
Now my question: How does the Trinity knows - only with my computer name - where in the whole wide web he will find my computer here in my office ???
May be its not such thrilling if I´m logged in on my WLAN Router in my office where the XP Pro is connected to the Router too - but how does this work if my Trinity is logged in a WLAN on Starbucks or somewhere else ???
I overlooked something - right
Cheers

Its a bit complicated to talk about DNS(my limit is my english...)
u just to know that if u want to fill in your rdpclient adress a name u must use a DynamicDNS that your router use
TOOLS /MISC -> Dynamic DNS...because i presume that u dont have a static public ip adress with your Internet provvider....see www.dyndns.org
u can see your dynamic ip adress in
STATUS
ip adress [WAN]
@kheops
O.K. - now I believe slowly that I have to differentiate between logged in with Trinity per WLAN on my Router itself ( is this "home LAN" ? ) and logged in on a external WLAN.
What are the differences in settings on my Trinity
Sometimes I believe that I have understood - only the recognize some minutes later that there are much more difficulties to solve
Cheers
Gregor
P.S.: Where to fill in IP ? .... I thought on " Remote Desktop Mobil" on my Trinity behind "Computer:" - correct ?
FOR CONNECTING OUTSIDE UR LAN:
What u have to do is connect to the ouside (WAN) address of ur router. This is the the IP address u have to fill in ur remote desktop to connect to. Go to www.whatsmyip.net on ur home pc to find out whats ur WAN address
U configure ur router to forward the specific port (in this case 3389) to the IP address of ur computer(be sure u have a static ip address).
FOR CONNECTING WITHIN UR LAN(same IP range):
just fill the ip addres of the host.
can post someone download link for Remote Desktop Mobile...thanx
Hi all helping friends!
Now I have set my router to a static IP ( the current one which i found on these ip-finder-side ).
By the way : Do I have disadvantages with a static IP ?
I also have additional enabled under Advanced / Firewall these IP with port 3389 !
I cannot additional enable these static IP under "Virtual" settings on my router - ´ve got a message that there is a conflict with something.
Then I have put these static IP on my Trinity behind "Computer:" - but still no chance to connect to my XP !!!
There is only now a third error message : May be too much connections!
Gregor
heuuuuu....
I'm not sure that u can change ip adress to dynamic to static...without consequence...

So, the full tuto goes something like this:
1. Remove (uninstall) Network Profile application and remove any APN you set up in settings -> cellular.
2. InterOP-unlock your device (Heathcliff)
3. Install DiagProvXML app
3. Using Isolated Storage Explorer deploy enclosed provxml files
4. Install the xml files in this order: hotspot, hotspot1, mxip_hotspotconfig_01, EnableAutoDataConfig
4b. Check in settings that you can now see Internet Sharing between Bluetooth and accounts!
5. Reboot
6. Deploy WP7 Root Tools (Heathcliff)
7. Now launch Root Tools and go to Local Machine -> Comm -> InternetSharing and manualy add:
Name => value (type)
EntitlementURI => ./Vendor/MSFT/Registry/HKLM/Comm/InternetSharing/Settings/OpenMarketEnabled (string)
OpenMarketEnabled => 1 (dword)
8. Clear "CellularConnectionName" (aka set to empty)
and you can go to settings -> Internet Sharing and start it up
// Oh and I had some problems with it when system was set to CZECH. When I HRed and did the same process in English, it worked fine ?!.
// You can also try my all-in-one provxml file on http://wp7.ondraster.cz/all.7z - deploy it via the Isolated Storage Explorer to the diagprovxml application and after running it, reboot the phone. I am not testing it, I already reset my phoe 5 times today. Sorry

Yeah, but I need it even through cable - because when internet craps out at home, I want to be able to connect even my PC .
(at worst case scenario, I could change router to client mode and connect to phone from there )

Hello OndraSter, long time no see. Glad to see you are WP7 too.
Yeah, I agree about having wired tethering. Luckily my PC has a WiFi adapter, but a decent amount of Desktops don't. No need for WiFi on something that never moved especially when Gigibit LAN is way faster than the fastest WiFi.
If this will be blocked on unbranded/outside of US devices (like voicemail is), I will be really pissed off!

Visual Voicemail is dependent on your carrier, tethering isn't though they could very well hide the setting via registry. So, even if they do hide it, we'll be able to unhide it with a registry hack, same as how some devices have the "never" option for the lockscreen timeout & the accessibility options disabled.
Why are you so sure?

This quote has a registry directory that wasn't in the Beta 2 Emulator Dump. I have the full registry from a dumped emulator of 7692 compiled & this directory isn't in it. I'm trying to find a new 7720 dump to so I can compile it's registry.
EDIT: It appears this directory exists in NoDo 7392. I just opened my registry editor & manually added this key & it shows up as (unavailable info). I wonder if this means tethering was always there but hidden.

The netcore.7.10.7712.60-7.10.7720.68.cab doesn't have an RGU & has a few updates to a couple DLL's (icscsp.dll/IcsService.dll/intshare.dll) & the netcore.7.10.7718.66-7.10.7720.68.cab has nothing new added to ICS aka Internet Connection Sharing.

It should be around 15.5 KB in size as the NoDo RGU is 12.5 KB & the 7720 update RGU is 3 KB, which get's added to the existing RGU in \Windows\. You should be able to copy it out as I am running NoDo was able to pull it out with WPDM, but it doesn't work in Mango so you'll need to use TouchXplorer/USB Hack. Well if thats true, then maybe we can get access to it via provxml... Just like chevron, dont we?
I posted this in a new thread at PPCG also. no longer is no tethering a deal breaker for those on the edge.

This tool allows you to access your WP7 in Windows Explorer as a USB Storage device as long as Zune is closed. You need to copy that file to \My Documents\Zune\Content\ with TouchXplorer & than on you PC access the "USB Mode WP7" to copy it to your PC.
When I do this the only thing I am able to see is just four sub folders. Albums, Artists, Music, and Pictures. Am I doing something wrong?

Nope, those are the folder that are on your device under \My Documents\Zune\Content\(# Value)\.
You use TouchXplorer to copy from \Windows\ to \My Documents\Zune\Content\(# Value)\ & than on your PC you'll see it in one of the folders you mentioned.
So would it show up it copy the file into one of folders with a # value?

Sorry dude I was out of town and as I was worried it didn't worked with window 7 like it amazed me with window xp.
Hi, Hopefully somebody can help me, I am trying to use my OpenVPN connection on my FireTV
I have been following this helpful guide and have installed everything correctly but when I transfer my .ovpn config file and open it on the FireTV it should ask for my username and password, However it does not. I don't know if its perhaps a problem with how the "OpenVPN Settings" app is reading my .ovpn file (Using CyberGhost).
Or can anyone advise another way of getting it working on the FireTV?
Unfortunately I cant configure it at router level as it is not fast enough to handle the encryption.
Thanks for any advice.

If the username and password are embedded in the .ovpn file, then it won't ask you to enter them again. It should automatically connect you to the VPN server you choose.

I dont believe they are in the .ovpn file as when I had it briefly enabled on my router after importing the file I still had to type them in.

I think the .ovpn file also includes all the certs as when I tried it on my router I noticed they were pre-filled. I dont believe CyberGhost have a seperate .crt download.
After removing all security related info (just put XXX in place of your data like certs/usernames/passwords, DON'T REMOVE ANY LINES THOUGH), can you post your ovpn file? do you see a line which says "auth-user-pass" in the ovpn file?
I just installed OpenVPN as per the guide you referenced and works like a charm (I don't use any commerical VPN, I have OpenVPN activated on my DD-WRT router on ASUS 1900AC). I use certificates to authenticate, not username/password though. But, if you post the file, it might be helpful.

3. fragment 1300
4. mssfix 1300
(These 2 are not supported on Android. Please refer: https://docs.openvpn.net/docs/openvpn-connect/openvpn-connect-android-faq.html)
Once you remove these 4 lines (AND EVERYTHING AFTER THE </ca> tag), I am getting the prompt for username/password.

Hope all this helps. My suggestion is to copy my paste of the file, stick in your certificate and give it a shot. Best of luck!

Make sure you do a force shutdown and reopen the app every time you make any changes to your config file and upload them to FTV. I am not sure how the caching works on Android or within this app. To be on the safe side, shutdown/reopen the app.
Your certficate file is publicly available. If after you do as the previous poster suggested and use my text as your file, post your complete file here that still does not work, if it does not work! We can go through the logs to see where the holdup might be.
I am assuming you are ONLY using username/password to log into your VPN provider. If you are required to also use client certificates, you will have to add 2 extra XML tags after the </ca> tag.
Seems CG uses a different method for OpenVPN on Android devices vs a router or PC (You'll see below). I wonder if you should of just stopped at the "Configure VPN" part of the guide & sideloaded & installed the CyberGhost APP(.apk).
For some reason https://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/ can't handle the ".de." in the link of the CG's apk @ the PlayStore. So I downloaded it from another device. I would recommend you install it from the PlayStore once you've added that to your FireTV. Uploaded the file below but it's always best you download your own.
Also found this: (It's from 2013 so not sure if things have changed but it is the third help item that pops up on CG's site when I do a "Android OpenVPN" search)
Configure OpenVPN for Android (> 4.x)
Configure OpenVPN for Android (> 4.x)

On Android, CyberGhost VPN can be used with OpenVPN, if the following requirements are met: OpenVPN app is preinstalled on your distribution, you own a Premium or Premium Plus CyberGhost subscription, an online CyberGhost account and a OpenVPN configuration file, which will be created for you in your account.
Please note: Android versions below 4.x don't support OpenVPN. To be able to use OpenVPN anyway, you need to root and modd your device. An alternative (and recommended) solution is the usage of the L2TP/IPSec protocol.

New VPN addresses for the manual configuration of the native protocols

Users of mobile devices and desktop PCs who usually configure their native protocols manually, should acknowledge that CyberGhost changed some address types. While addresses used with Premium and Premium Plus subscriptions (e.g. 'us-l2tp.cyberghostvpn.com') remain unchanged, users with Special Editions or promotional activation keys should re-adjust the server addresses for L2TP, PPTP and OpenVPN connections as follows:

So I am only seeing the two solutions. Either use the App once you have OpenVPN fully installed which sound like you have & then add your account info. Or log into your account to get the proper files from CG which should include your credentials. Hope you figure it out & share the info. Will be using CG too, eventually.

Thank you very much for all your help, I have tried as instructed but still no luck.
After checking the "prerequisites" menu I can confirm everything is correct, All green dots.
I have tried editing my .ovpn file and it certainly is a step forward, I removed the four lines etc and it now asks me for my username and password, But when I enter these and tick the box to enable the VPN it just keeps toggling between Connecting / Reconnecting (caused by tls-error).
Is it safe to post my untouched .ovpn file just to make sure I did not miss something crucial when I edited it? (It does contain my username)
Yes CyberGhost only require you to enter your username / password after using their .ovpn file during any OpenVPN configuration.
That's an interesting point, It never crossed my mind to try side-loading their app. Perhaps if I cant get this working I should try that. I'm wondering what would be better suited or if either can auto-start?

? Is the CG configuration file you are trying to use specifically made for Android ?? Or is it the one you had on your PC or router which I think does not suppose to work according to CG. The configuration files seem to be OS specific.

One more thing to try is the app they mention here: https://support.cyberghostvpn.com/i.../View/403/0/configure-openvpn-for-android--4x
'OpenVPN for Android' from Arne Schwabe
I decided to start a new thread about this since I have been searching high and low in the forum about this particular issue. I copy and paste my post I wrote in the RR thread since I think it is worth to bring it to more public attention.
I also found some comments on this very issue in the Redmi Note 3 Kenzo forum about Nougat/RR 5.8.2 and in other forums (about nVidia Shield) as well. The basic issue is about app access (Kodi for example) to USB-OTG flash drives. It also affect MX Player and FX File Explorer. Here is my earlier post:
There is one thing I would like to point out - perhaps a solution can be found:
App access to external USB flash drives
Nougat and some ROM/kernel combinations seems to act differently than Marshmallow in this regard - it cause some issues with Kodi (as one example) and also some file managers (FX File Explorer). The symptoms are:
1. USB flash drives doesn't show up as 'regular' storage volumes in FX (the app demand the user to 'connect to the drive' and insist on transferring every file in order to view them - videos is a typical example). It happens with Root Explorer as well in some cases.
2. Kodi is unable to access a USB flash drive. It can navigate the file tree down to the /mnt/media_rw but is unable to access the drive itself (i.e. nothing happens when selecting media_rw).
3. StickMount doesn't help either - the USB disk remains inaccessible for Kodi and FX.
Apps such as MiXplorer and Files (the native file manager, not the CM one) is able to manage the USB disk properly.
The ajmsg78 packaged RR 5.8.1 with Nebula v1 seems to operate similar to Marshmallow in this regard - FX File Explorer and Kodi are able to treat a USB disk in the same way as a memory card (browse files, selecting a folder as a Kodi source etc).
It only works on that particular ROM/kernel combo - flashing Nebula v2 or Harfix R2 immediately change the storage access (i.e. FX want to 'connect to storage' and Kodi loose the ability to access the disk).
I think the main issue is the way Nougat handles app access to those disks. There are no problems with accessing the regular microSD card - Kodi and FX are able to handle it perfectly well. It is only when a USB flash drive is connected that the problem arise.
The easiest way of checking it is:
Install FX File Explorer and/or Kodi. Connect a flash drive and see if it shows up in FX and/or become accessible in the Kodi file browser. If FX want to 'connect' to storage instead of simply mounting it or Kodi is unable to browse it - then the issue is present.
There are something in the ajmsg78 packaged RR 5.8.1 by marchetto96 with Helium fixes including Nebula v1 that make it work. Flashing another kernel (Nebula v2 or Harfix) revoke the access. StickMount doesn't help. So there are something special about the Nebula v1/RR 5.8.1 combination (I don't think it is the ROM itself but the kernel - flashing that ROM version with Harfix R2 before setting it up means no USB flash drive access).
It would be interesting if a solution can be found. I have been trying the latest Kodi 18 Leia nightlies without success (can't browse the media_rw). SPMC (the Android fork based on Kodi 16) is also unable to get such access.
Tested in LAOS by Nijel8 on default kernel.
My experience with Kodi is as follows:
After inserting usb_otg drive...
- when I access the usb_otg and in the popup from MiXplorer do not allow it to mount the drive but from notifications select Android system>drive name>Explore> and select the new drive , then enter root explorer and in there I tap the file to be played > select Kodi to play it, it does not work (files are present in /mnt/media_rw/xxxx-xxxx/)
- when I insert usb_otg and in the popup from MiXplorer allow it to mount the drive, it is invisible in /mnt but visible in MiXplorer, furthermore when I tap the file to be played in there and select Kodi, it plays correctly. But the drive and it's content is invisible to the system and other apps. It does not seem that the files are copied to internal storage as opening 3GB movie from usb (mp4 file format) took only 7 seconds.
MiXplorer has a custom driver for USB OTG,
{

}
and Kodi just isn't compatible with new permission system present in Android 7 (or 7.1.1 as the case here).
Also even with the custom driver, usb_otg drive is not visible in Kodi and files must be started in MiXplorer.
If the kernel allows for old-style mounting of external storage then Kodi will work (AFAIK).
This seems comparable with my own results. MiXplorer work perfectly.
I am back on the RR 5.8.1/Nebula v1 combo packaged by ajmsg78 - it seems like that particular kernel is the key for success. Kodi are able to browse the file tree and reach the disk under /usbstorage/xxx-xxxx, which is the issue otherwise.
It feels like this is a major issue for several apps under 7.1.1 and it would be great if it is possible to make newer kernels that allow the older mounting mode, at least until there are clear indications that the new permission model is properly managed.
It is important to notice that Kodi have no issues whatsoever with internal microSD cards. It can navigate them properly - the issue is only when a USB flash drive is being used.
Edit: FX File Explorer is the other app with issues - it can access the drive but insist on transferring files for playback. It just can't play them directly because of its insistence on 'connecting to the drive' like it is a remote volume or something.
Just trying to contribute a little (I'm no developer!). The only way my galaxy t810 (nougat) recognized the USB stick is when I change the USB configuration of tablet to rndis (USB ethernet). Don't know why! But only work for pendrives, still doesn't work for my HD (even with root and with paragon or any other app). Didn't tested with accessories (like a mouse).
Update: stop working...
I've (finally!) got app access to usb-otg using stick-mount, it mounts it at '/storage/emulated/0/usbStorage/sda1' and is accessible to every app I've tried so far (inc Fx), I don't use kodi so I can'check that. I'm using ResurrectionRemix 5.8.5(latest ver) with Elemental kernel.
