in that goto P3300 section and download...
thx
Doesn't exist! Please close Thread
if not exists the one must create
if this rom not exists then one must create that rom for all.
ms is going to release wm 6.5 is next few days.....
Microsoft havent even released the WM6.5 ROM yet..
its an early internal built of WM6.5 for BlueAngel (if im nt wrong) which has been leaked. i warn u, coz its an early build, and not guaranteed to be working properly. im not really interested, coz even the current built of WM6.1 with Manilla2D is really eye-catching and stable, so y wud i risk and switch to something which is not bugfree?
its something like i have Windows Vista SP1 which is really the most stable OS i ever used. Y wud i format my OS partition and install Windows 7 which is a beta yet? it has several bugs which can ruin the files, and even breach security.
i would love to try it.
haven't had a 100% stable rom on my Artemis since it was bought ( tried : official WM5, official WM6, black & blue 6.1) and as we all know, sometimes the thing just crashes. I may as well have a new toy to play with that crashes if it's going to do that anyway.
it's not the same as testing a desktop OS at all (although i AM beta testing W7)
if it WAS available for the Artemis yet, I'd be installing ASAP
unfortunately it is only for blue angel at the moment
eya u r right... this is off topic, but windows 7 had bugs which duznt allow to join to domain networks, and it updates the MP3 files incorrectly, and even has problems with some windows installer setups...
the problem with mobile windows is, that its for blueagel, and its in early beta stage yet. if it is to be run in artemis, the rom size has to be below 64MB.. BlueAngel has 96MB of ROM, and when i checked the downloads, they were about 90MB in size..
its too early that someone can slipstream or port this WM6.5 to artemis yet, since most information abt it havent been published. i'll just wait with the more stable version yet, coz it will save my time... will think abt checking the ROM when i feel its a it safer to try it..
by the way.. for anyone whoz interested, this is the thread to WM6.5 in xda-dev
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428030
I'm pretty much a cooking noob but wouldn't it be possible to extract the ROM and take the SYS/XIP and build a nice clean Artemis ROM from that ?

ohh mannn you are lucky
i was getting 1 or 2
Haha, getting around 25kb/s now, at 50%
Lets hope this kitchen can be used properly.
I have gotten not much luck yet with Core or Elfin-hybrid kitchen. A lot of roms that I extract only give me a Packages folder and no SYS/OEM (your rom too) only the official HTC and o2 roms give me OEM/SYS folders..
Edit:
I got the 6.5 kitchen, but it is password protected, any clue to the pass?
Found the password: fQLMRCqn;w4^[email protected]*^FMTMG9
I will repack it without a password and upload it somewhere good.
Uploading file now to a fast Dutch mirror, repacked with 7zip and reduced the archive from 99mb to 55mb.
MD5 of new file: f21c9ac4ff4057ebfdc0d75a2a8a95a8
Link: Cookers can PM me as my traffic on the host is limited, the speed is not thought.

Hey Guys i just got tp2 , however i dont know quite alot about windows mobile as i was a symbian user
I have a series of questions that i hope can find an answer
As we all know tp2 comes with windows mobile 6.1 and i have seen several leeks of 6.5 provided by XDA , my question is as follow can i install it normally and download it directly to my phone ?? or is their another way to get windows 6.5 to My tp2?
Second question is i really wanna know whats the benefits of doing Hard SPL , and whats the benefits of roms like energy rom? do they replace touch flo or something or the whole windows mobile? if anyone would just give me an insight to why one would want to use Hard SPL and constantly get new roms
Third: it also mentions with energy rom that it is windows 6.5 does this mean i must have windows 6.5 leaked version installed? or energy rom installs windows 6.5 by default to my phone?
Finally if i did install those roms could i download default windows applications like say coreplayer for example? or that wont be allowed ??
Thanks in advance and i hope my questions could find an answer!

to install any custom rom on your device, you need to have hardspl on your device. hardspl allows you to install these custom roms otherwise you would get an error and nothing would happen. the benefit is that these roms are tweaked and dont come with all the bloat ware that your cell providers cram a phones with. you must read the instructions though as you can damage your phone to the point of it not working anymore. as for apps, if they are built for windows mobile 5.0 and up, chances are that they will work, although some apps dont run at 800x480 resolution. some apps require .NET Framework 2.0 or 3.5. you can download that through microsoft. and as far as windows version, that gets installed with the rom. so if it says 6.1 in the discription then you will be running 6.1 and so on. by installing these roms, you get an experience tailored more to your need instead of what a company puts out for everyone.
hope this helps

To answer your third questions...energy rom will install windows mobile 6.5 on your phone while it loads. There is no other steps necessary. (Besides Hard spl'ing first)
To answer your last question...Yes, you will be able to install coreplayer. You should be able to install any win mob program for that matter.
Hi
So, not entirely sure why MS went and released 6.5 when the prettier, more usable, 6.5.3 was just around the corner, but hay.
I've seen tell of WM 6.5.3 working on the TG01, but so far my searches have only pointed to roms for HTC devices (not surprisingly). Does anyone know of a working 6.5.3 update .cab installer that are for UK TG01's? If so would they be very kind and point me at it!
Thanks all.

You cant update the hole OS with just a cab, you would have to cook a rom with the desired Build version in your case 6.5.3, sadly there no way to cook a rom for the tg01 as of yet, so your stuck with the old UI style builds e:g 6.5

Pretty sure that's exactly what I did to go from 6.1 to 6.5 - although in that case the .cab was an installer provided by Toshiba.
I simply meant has anyone made a ROM and a simple one file system for installing it, I'm not a developer, more an enthusiastic amateur... Im likely to brick my only phone if I get much more complicated than compiled installers.

You actually can, it's called Image Update, and it's been around since WM5 (though mostly unused). Image Update allows special .cab.pkg updater files to write to ROM, update the XIP, replace critical files, and resize partitions on the fly, among other features, all while keeping user data unharmed. Also, if you hard reset, the updates still remain. There are some developers, such as Da_G and ND4SPD among others, working on utilizing Image Update for chefs, to put out updates for their ROMs instead of making users hard reset and lose their data each ROM release. It's really quite an interesting project, you might be interested in taking a look for yourself. Link's here.
The TG01 is the first device I know of that utilizes the Image Update system for ROM upgrades, although AT&T has started putting out Windows Mobile hotfixes in .cab.pkg format for select devices, ensuring the updates are permanent yet won't harm user data. Unfortunately, the TG01 .cab.pkg files need to be signed by Toshiba, and although there are 6.5.x ROMs for the TG01 (the demo models at CES 2010 were running 6.5.x) they're probably all internal and I'd bet very well guarded.

I might not know a lot about smart phone OS's but I do know quite a bit about computing in general, enough to know that when I download and install a .cab file from Toshiba which writes to ROM and updates the OS from 6.1 to 6.5... that. it. actually. happened.
I'm new to this I'm not hallucinating.
Thanks DaveTheTytnIIGuy for that, interesting to know that the TG01 is new in operating like this, as it's the first Smartphone I've used as my day-to-day handset (as opposed to just messing around with old ones) I didn't realise this wasn't more widespread*.
I understand that Toshiba never planned to release with 6.1 but delays to 6.5 forced them to go to market with 6.1 and their half baked 'stripe' theme bolted on. Perhaps the use of a cab.pkg installer was the bast way they could allow non-technical users to quickly and easily get their handsets working as they where intended.
After all it's not like people can feel like they would be able to ask for help on a forum or something, that would just get patronising ***** insulting their intelegence...
So now I guess I have research to do as to how cooked ROM's are usually installed, and if someone has cooked one for the TG yet.
Cheers.
Just out of curiosity:
How large was the .cab?
How much free storage space do you now have on your device? (Settings->System->Memory)
What build of WM 6.5 are you currently running? (Settings->System->About)
Also, if the file you downloaded was a .cab (not a .cab.pkg) then it wouldn't have used the Image Update system built into Windows Mobile... there are other (much worse) methods of updating a ROM via a cab file, hence why I am asking the above questions.

Sorry I should point out i'm using the term .cab as short hand for any kind of cabinet file based installers. Actually I had forgotten an interesting point about Toshiba's file.
After putting in your IMEI number and confirming your carrier etc at Toshiba's website, you can download a .exe file (basically a self extracting archive) which contains a .tsw file.
I had actually forgotten it was this type of file, is this a Toshiba-unique format? Because strangely, when you run it the standard windows .cab installer screen appears and windows refers to the file as a .cab.pkg file (TG01WP_5005000167.tsw is the file, windows says it's installing/downloading TG01WP_5005000167.cab.pkg if I remember rightly)
A colleague with their own TG01 got a different file name when they downloaded their update a few months later... but they seem to be no differences
I currently have build 21840.5.0.60. The installer is 247mb in size. I have 205.13mb program memory, 262.53mb storage, available on the handset.
Hi there,
I'm new here. I got a HTC TD2 from Vodafone. I've read many threads here but I still don't know what to do to reach my aim. Actually I got WM 6.5 installed. But I want to change some things and modify my smartphone.
My favourite theme is the "Tesalat_Metal V2_Theme".
But I simply don't know how to act to realize that theme on my HTC. Is it possible to install it on WM 6.5? Or have I to install WM 6.1 again?
And what are the following things: ROM Flashmore WM 6.5.3, HTC Sense Leo 2.02 Dusk-More V2.1?
I hope you can understand what I want and I hope that someone here can help me. I just need a kind of tutorial how to modify my phone..
Thx
MarcusAntonius
Firstly, since you got the Touch Diamond 2, you should probably head over to the Touch Diamond 2 forum (aka: Topaz)
secondly, ROMs are basically a different version of the Operating System that you can "flash" onto your phone - although you should note that doing this can void your warranty.
thirdly, those different ROMs that you had mentioned, are basically different ROM programmers - aka: "Chefs" - that modify the base ROM is give different benefits. These benefits may include increased speed, increased eye-candy, increased functionality, decreased "junk" on the phone, and other performance optimizations.
since you are also a newbie here, another suggestion for just general forum use: use the "Search" button =]
Good luck and have fun!
Thank you for the quick answer! But what have I to do to modify my phone into the "Tesalat_Metal V2_Theme"? Do i have to flash the ROM? I know that doing so can void my warranty.. But there must exist a tut or something like that where I can read how to act! I already used the search function but didn't find an answer..
Greetings!
If the theme is a .cab file then just install it and restart your phone, if it's a ROM then you have to flash it! you can use the flashing guide.
grts.
Hi
is for the Rhodium also a tutorial like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=680518
I didt it yesterday for my kaiser and it works greate now i like to test it laso on the Rhodium.
But i didt not know whitch kernel to choose. How to configurate it.
In the Kaiser tutorial is a tool named "atools" for konfiguration the kernel.
But what i have to do for the Rhodium with german keyboard?
And what do you think: is the
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759894
a goid choice for this rhodium?
Frendyly regards
Heiko
You can't do this on the Rhodium, there is no full ROM version of Android working yet for this phone.
The ROM you linked is for the Kaiser. ROMs are for specific phones. Flashing the ROM for the wrong phone is a very bad idea. If you flash that ROM to the Rhodium, it won't work and you will probably brick the phone.
Your best bet is Project Android. This is not a full ROM, but rather installs the the SD card. You boot it up, and it dumps Windows Mobile, and loads Android.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627997
NAND is still in the very early stages of testing for RHOD. Hopefully we'll get a full NAND like Kaiser has, but not at this time.
Thanks for the informations.
I thought rodium and kaiser are very simular in their hardware.
The problem is win Mobile only runs slow on both phones.
And Froyo runs enxpected fast on the kaiser.
But without a stable rom i thin i dont try it.
XDANDROID is stable, just not perfect
