Ok I know it may be silly or everybody knows that....
Anyway as I was really frustrated with current Bing performance,
It was so sweet to discover that www.maps.google.com JUST works on IE... !

Well, I guess they left the radio out for a reason, so I there will probably be negative side effects.....
let me be the first to congratulate you. and say thank you

Not to be a party pooper but when you write "Just thrust me", it's almost as if you're asking for it.
Ha, splendid! Good job. I wonder if there are any noticable side effects. I don't have my tp2 yet - so it will be interesting to read what everyone's experience is.
The first question that comes to mind: will the radio work _without_ the earbuds plugged in?
Woohoo! Is it HTC radio application with tweaks or is it a new app that you developed?
Great work regardless and thanks in advance.

I thought as much. Bummer, I hoped it would have worked without them. So no bluetooth wireless radio or radio-on-speakerphone I guess.
But it's still great to have radio capability. I'll install this on my pro 2 when it arrives for sure. Thanks a lot for your work!
THanks, working perfectly

Maybe. Last phone I had with FM Radio was a Nokia 6230i. It too needed the earbuds plugges in as the acted as the antenna. However, you could play the radio through the loudspeaker. Maybe you just need the earbuds connected, and it will then play through whatever audio output you want? Course you would have a wire coming off the device....
*maybe* this device is now back on against my preference of the Acer M900.....
Oh decisions..... honestly, whats the build quality like? Its always been awefull with HTC devices (had four, all have failed at one point or another)
Nice one
Thread stuck.

Thank you !
Hoped it would work with Straight Talk.

LOL cool glad i could help !!! Enjoy
For people who have tried this, Are there any side effects? e.g higher battery consumption? I wouldn't have thought it consumed anything extra when radio isn't on. I want to know why HTC decided not to include it on release?
Hi Guys,
I'm running Android on my Touch Pro2 (thanks for the info on installing this by the way!) and I've installed Google Sky Map.
The program uses the accelerometer ok however it does not seems to orientate to the poles correctly.
I'm thinking this is because the phone either doesn't have a magnetic sensor or doesn't have it enabled.
So my question is does anyone know if the TP2 has a magnetic sensor that can be enabled for programs such as this, and do you know how to enable it in Android?
Thanks for any suggestions!
Pretty sure it doesn't have it. This is your biggest problem with Android? You can't expect it to work like a native Android device. Surprised Sky Maps even worked at all TBH...
The TP2 does not have the magnetic sensor/compass.

I was one of the lucky (or unlucky) few outside the UK launch in Oxford Street today. There were about 30 people in the queue and i was happy to get a Galaxy nexus.
I went to work and had a play and found that there is no FM Radio app!!!! Even though i've seen everywhere that it has a radio on board. I know the chipset is able but it should have an app too.
Can an other the other UK owners confirm if their's has an app or not?
Cheers
Indie.
Stock android doesn't come with an app for the radio.

That's what i had thought before seeing the spec sheet for this phone. Why are they advertising it with if it doesn't have it??
Also i wanted to warn others if this is a must have for some people.
Anthony
That's rubbish - this day and age an FM radio should be mandatory - Having second thoughts now. It was advertised with it.
Not by Google, only by people who didn't research it properly.

This day & age should have DAB and DAB+, not FM, FM is a dying platform.

In this day and age most people just listen to mp3's or internet Radio like pandora. Would you seriously not buy a phone just coz it didnt have a Radio?
The sites that claim the Nexus has an FM Radio havent done their homework very well and are going off pre-released specs.
Mark.

I dont know how much bulk a DAB chip would add to a phone it would probably make it unfeasable to add it in but you are right it would be cool and much more functional.

You guys are missing the point about poorly researched sites. The sites i'm talking about are the sites who are selling it! Misleading people and yes people still do listen to the radio. In the UK we are lucky to have some pretty good FM radio.
May take it back! (i know i will get flammed for that comment!)

So?
Are GSM Arena Google? No.
That puts them in my 'didn't research it properly' category then, doesn't it?

I think it's fair to want an expensive gadget to have lots of features...I think we're all just saying don't be disappointed and complain when it doesn't have a feature that wasn't OFFICIALLY ever advertised as being included.

be disappointed all you want. doesnt change what google and samsung has decided they want in their phone. if you dont like it, suck it up and buy another product.
Can't you listen to most FM radio stations online these days anyway?
I have searched forum and havent found anything useful yet, so i made new thread on this. I used igo for some time and i am not very satisfied. Can anyone recommend something else? (preferably write some specs about it, and i dont care about the price as long as it is good)
Im using navigon. Its not about the software its just the UI that is defferent. u have to check the maps.Naviteq are good .Navigon is the best for meh atleast for bulgaria
Yeah i am from Serbia, so if maps for Bulgaria are fine they should be also for me

Waze works fine in UK. Haven't used it for a while but some of the reported incidents had amusing descriptions, mostly blaming women drivers and their parking abilities lol
Sent from my XperiaS via transwarp conduit.

Uhm in México Waze works fine too... I started using NDrive, was the best for me for a while (In that moment I have a Xperia Mini [X10i]), it was the best, today I still use it (and works very very nice for me, but the maps are the same since then..... ¬_¬), Waze I dont like because the amount of data it use, I'm starting to using Google navigation, its very cool, and it work with Google maps so... they are actual, but it consume data traffic too, so I still preffer NDrive :silly:
