[q] bricked my phone!! Help!!!! - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all. I have an Epic 4g and was attempting to load the modem and pit files via odin3 v1.61 and it completed successfully. I then placed the .tar file for the froyo update in the pda slot and while it was loading my daughter pulled out the cable. I now have a picture that looks like a phone then 2 dots then a warning triangle then 2 dots and then a computer. I tried to do a hard key reset and my bootloader is gone. I am still able to put my phone into download mode and odin can see that it is connected, but when i attempt to do anything it will cot go past this point

This should not be in development. You should have searched before posting.
Your phone is not bricked if you can get into download mode. Make sure your tar if the correct size using the md5 checksum. Restart your pc and your phone. Odin is picky. it will take a couple times sometimes.

^ what he said, plus there are probably no less than 25 other posts with the same or similar titles/problems.

Please post questions in Q&A section. Everyone please remember to click the "Report Post" button on the original post to have immediate action taken by the moderators. Also do not post in the thread itself telling the user that he made a mistake or broke a rule as it doesn't contribute to the thread and is unnecessary.

Why would you odin the modem and pit files and then Odin the whole tar file? The modem is in the tar file. Your phone is not bricked if yo can get into dl mode. Keep trying with different versions of Odin and make sure the rom is a complete download. Odin is very sensitive. Don't use the pit file when flashing the tar file. There are a lot of threads on here like this and you have to keep trying and eventually it will pass. Find the other versions of Odin and try them. Good luck

So if we just report the thread will the mod just move it or will you also flame err I mean let the poster know of his mistake? You would think that just by moving it they would get the message but I would not be surprised if they didn't know why it was moved!

Rename "sph-d700-dk28-8g-rel.tar.md5" to "sph-d700-dk28-8g-rel.tar", open up ODIN, then select the renamed file. That worked for me.

Do you have cwm? If do, flash any of the ec07 roms and imnuts hacked kernel. If that doesn't work (it should, unless you tried to repartition) then hit irc, and I'll see if I can help. All of the roms and the kernel are in Ciscogee's database sticky.

Thanks for the fast reply, and no, I do not have clock work, how do i get it through download mode only, because odin doesnt seem to flash things on my device well,

Keep trying. That isvthe pain of Odin. It's simple uservinterface, but it doesn't alswaysvwork, the first time. I've had to flash something 4 times before before itvwould pass, and i know I was doing it right. The alternative is HEIMDALL. More complicated, but I've never had a fail when I did it right. I'll be in irc in a few ifvyouveant me to walk you through heimdall.
PERCEPTION IS REALITY
Thank you so much, yeah, could you walk me through it? Please?
I need my phone to work, and the COMport is always messed up, or the write operation fails
Since I don't see you in irc, go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18698679
There is a link on there for a tut I made for using heimdall for this situation. And that thread contains everything you need (except 7zip). I'll be in irc in a bit, and be there for most of the day, likely.

OK, i found a tutorial on heimdall, but while flashing i get

That is a driver issue. either reinstall the heimdall drivers, or unplug and replug and try again. I'm in IRC now.

[Q] NoData rom question

Hi,
I am in process of flashing the no data rom for my SPH-D710 and I've been sitting on SetupConnection.. for a while now. Is this normal? I don't want to stop in case it will mess something up.
I have the yellow box in the odin.
Here is my progress so far. Been sitting like this for about 30min.

No. Still stuck at same spot.
Here is a screenshot
I've been stuck in Odin before (thankfully it wasn't during modem install) and after an interminably long period decided the only option was to disconnect, reboot (I may have had to do a battery pull, can't remember) into Odin mode and try again. Keep in mind this is just something I did and I got lucky. I'm not suggesting you do it but, if you do, I would download another copy of the one-click you are trying to use (FE22) or pick another to see if you can complete the Odin process.
Thanks! Was able to unplug and downloaded another copy from a different mirror. Keeping fingers crossed!
Fingers crossed. Let me know how it goes.
SUCCESS!!
Thank you for your help!
Yay!!! My pleasure.

[Q] Trend Micro flags download as malicious

I want to download the new firmware that was provided by milkyman in the following...
You'll have to flash mikeyman's file (http://d-h.st/57S) via Odin. Just click on PDA, select the file in Odin, and press start. Don't touch anything else. Root/recovery will be unaffected
But Trend Micro flags the server as a source for malicious software and I am not able to get there. Just a heads up to milkyman...

[Q] i317 at&t soft bricked, please help!

Ok, I know someone is going to yell at me. I have searched for 24 hours on this site before deciding to post. Please don't verbally assault me too badly. Here is what happened, overnight, the phone must have gotten an OTA update. It is now frozen at the Samsung Galaxy screen.
I cannot get to CWM which I did have on 4.1.1
I can only get to download / ODIN mode (vol down, home, power.) So I downloaded Odin 3.07 (the newest i think)
I downloaded KIES_HOME_I317UCAMA4_I317ATTAMA4_578342_REV04_user_low_ship.tar.md5 (AFTER A LOT OF SEARCHING!)
I can get Odin to see my phone, com4, I put the above file in PDA and eventually get this....

Also, make sure that you don't flash "AT&T i317 ODIN 4.3 UCUBMJ4 (Leak) Bootloader & TZ (AT&T Note 2 ONLY)" bootloader as this bootloader is only for 4.3 leaded version.

Do you have pit file? If so try to give all files together in Odin -
pit file in "PIT" & select re-partition checkbox
ROM in "PDA"
and try to flash.

flashable zip for J200GU stock

Hello,
I am unable to flash stock firmware back to my J200GU with Odin since it always gives me a fail.
So I was trying to flash directly on TWRP or ADB sideload but I always get an error with my zip firmwares.
Does anyone knows where to get the zip firmwares ready for ADB sideload or TWRP?
Sorry if it is a stupid question but I am really newb on this.
Thanks.

I have tried what you recomended and TWRP proceeds to install hydrarom, however it is installed very fast and when it reboots i am stuck at bootloop. I believe it has sucessfully installed hydra but not the stock rom I wanted.
I have currently no OS on my phone or any firmaware so my guess is that to be able to install this custom roms (hydra and noble) i need to already have a stock firmware an this will be just an add on. Correct me if I am wrong.
Are the firmwares from SAMMOBILE ready to be used on TWRP? I am starting to think the are not to be used on TWRP but ODIN instead, but ODIN always gives me a fail. SO my question is: IS there a way to make roms downloaded from SAMMOBILE install on TWRP or adb sideload? Any guide about this?
Thanks. I appreciate any help since I have my J2 completly useless now
Can you post your Odin log?
or use the 4 files repair firmware.

Thank you! Finally!
I have tried flashing using just the AP file instead of all 4 files and it worked. When I tried to use the 4 files together in Odin it failed but instead using only the AP I was able to install the firmware and get a PASS.
Thanks alot for all the help in this forum
