Hi,
I'm using a pre-release WP7 device (LG E900) that runs the so called "mojo" build 6536. Since I didnt get an update on the release of WP7 and the Zune software keeps saying my version is up to date, I was wondering if I will get any updates at all? And if I won't, is there a possibility to manually flash roms on it?
Thanks for the help!
Isn't there anyone who knows how to update from this build?
There doesn't seem to be any publicly available LG WP7 roms. My GW910 Panther is on 7003 and the official retail build is 7004.

And isnt it possible to extract a rom from an LG Optimus 7? All I need is the official release build. Or should I contact LG and ask them? Where do you get your builds for the Panther? From the zune software?
You also posted in the optimus 7 forums and that's the place where you will most likely find your answers. Getting rom-dumps from a phone is often brand-specific (and sometimes also model-specific). You should find out how that works for LG phones. But it will probably not be easy.
Have you asked on the Microsoft Connect forums or contacted your Microsoft contact who set you up with the phone? I thought they updated all the dev devices to RTM code.
Same problem
I have the same problem. I have a pre-release that I got from microsoft. I tried connect, and the rom is no longer available. I now have a worthless phone that I can't test on or upgrade.

I install the black satin normal release but there isn't the Windows Update in System menu? I can install it with a cab file? Thanks Tony
Whatcha need Windows Update for do you suppose? M$ has no plans to deliver enhancements via this tool.

With respect Sleuth, how do you know that is MS plan?
So whats the point of Windows Update tool then ?
It just doesn`t make sense.. They did it for fun ? Just to take storage space ?
MS update < XDA new ROM update!!
Why bother??
MS update was so manufactures didn't have to release new roms, just updates...
but as Penske MB says
MS update < XDA new ROM update!!

not at the moment no... but the functionality is there for future updates... but as most ROM cooks use tadzio's tools which removes the buffers around files in the IMGFS using Windows Update could in fact turn your device into a brick if updates were pushed out...

Pretty common sense.
Microsoft has made it abundantly clear on more then 1 front that they have zero interest in maintaining Windows Mobile and only release OS updates to keep people off the other platform devices.
MS doesn't care about updating phones and doesn't care about making activesync function correctly.
Mark my words... Windows updates on these devices will ALWAYS be useless.

if they didnt care then they wouldnt have developed the functionality in the first place and left the updating to the carriers... Windows Update was/is designed to update Core OS and M$ Products only...

Thanks for your personal opinion. I was after the hard facts though.

Good answer. I also wonder how certain people come to their "firm" opinions or even "knowledge" about what MS "plans" and his in mind.
My hard facts come from M$ at MEDC 2007. When asked whether they planned on delivering Mobile Office 2K7 via Windows update I was told that the windows update mechanism itself was "only for critical security related patches"...
We'll need windows update when the first virus hits I suppose...
Hello ,Bchau,
I was hoping you could tell me where you dowloaded the new buttonflo rom I also have a Jasjam and with Telstra Next g and at present running Black 3.1

why don't you PM him instead of going off topic?
Windows Update will be used very soon to distribute an updated version of IE to WM6 users. And for those of you that have your doubt... let's just say I know someone who's testing its functionality now.

But it will never happen.. How long has the Hermes been out for, and have you EVER seen ANY update?
Thats what I thought..
Theres more "updates" on this forum than u would ever need through this useless tool anyway
very true!!! wont see a windows update on the hermes or any device that has it.....
ive had the blackjack since day 1 and there was the BJ II and the Epix and still didnt see any updates whatsoever....so after 2 generations of the blackjack (i count the epix as one ahahah) i dont think they are ever going to release one for it.
So for the hermes im pretty sure its not going to happen.
Like they said XDA developers is your update tool (if you can call it that) because the winmo builds (beta) are constantly updated here through various rom releases.....
I've heard that there is a new version of WM comming out, wm6.1 anyone any idea when its going to be released ?
feb08-mar08
it is out on some devices now like moto q9 with wifi. see this thread http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2007/12/05/windows-mobile-61-did-you-catch-it/
Ready about this.
One wonders if HTC or the Telco's will release updated Hermes Rom's using this version.
I'm sure that our chef's will work their magic on it regardless
The release of ipaq610c has been delayed till feb 2008 . I think this is the reason of the delay
There is no Hermis upgrade
There is no Hermis upgrade in the list but as ANT said "chef's will work their magic on it regardless"

Hi,
Recently I've read a few posts online about different versions of tomtom. My question is what is the main difference between the most current version released which is aparently 6.035 and the version I have on my phone...6.010?
Does anybody know? Are there more options in the 6.035 version or is it just a random release to fix bugs people have had cause really.. I havnt had any bugs what so ever with my version and dont plan on upgrading unless I have to... or unless this other version has something that mine doesnt.
Thanks in Advance!
Hi,
tomtom never released this version. youre using stolen software!
I'm running Tomtom 6.01. That is a legal version. I'm not aware of the legality of 6.035 so I wouldn't know if its a hack or not. I was just wondering if it was any different then my version that's all
My experience with TomTom on various Windows Mobile devices is that version 6.00 is somehow slow and bugged on certain hardware, and that's why 6.010 exists. But it had a short life and was soon upgraded as well.
Most common on the field are 6.020 and 6.030, which are basically the same good piece of software. 6.030 is just 6.020 with some compatibility enhancements for certain devices (see TomTom site for details).
Most recent version I know of is 6.032 (another compatibility update based on 6.020). Therefore if you have 6.020 there's no real need to upgrade. 6.035, if not a fake, is likely a leaked build and I'd stay away from that.
so basically... Dont upgrade unless I am having issues... which I am not. 6.010 seems to be working fine so if there arent any additional features added why switch right?
And where can I download those official releases ?
I've recently bought their 50% discounted maps, after the lady on the phone support line (TomTom) told me it would come with software needed to use it. Later, I understood she gave me false information.
I tried downloading one from the internet (I'm afraid it's a hacked version), and didn't need any piracy stuff, as the codes that came with my map perfectly work to legally activate and use the software
But I'd like to donwload it from a trustful source, without needing to buy a whole navigator 6 package with the non discounted map (which I already have)... :s
help!
Thanks
anyone...?
Anyone know when next release will come??
DL-Link
Hi,
anyone can legally download 6.030 from www.tomtom.com/updates
Bye
Andi
i m running 6.032 it starts up faster and caculates routes faster than 6.030
What about new tomtom's version??
Will it ever come??
I've been using TTN7 (7.915-9.96.vga_black) for some time. My memory card has now died so I've come back to find the latest version. Given TTN7 is now officially available for the Touch HD has anyone extracted it? It would be great to get the latest CAB, especially if it fixes the lag etc.
Apologies if I've missed an obvious thread anywhere, but I couldn't find it in the WIKI or the forums.
Guessing you will not be able to find it here as it is commercial software that is publicly available. So making it available here would consitute to software piracy which afaik is against xda's policy.
Either just buy it if you like it or be creative with google.
double post due to lagg. ignore or delete plz mods.
I'm not talking about Warez . The version I mentioned I have been using has been freely available on this site for months. The maps are copyrighted, the program is available. Now TomTom officially supports the Touch HD I assumed a new version would be available, and hence be available here. I purchased my maps legally from TomTom which I've been using. As I now need to re-install I am just looking to see if the TomTom official Touch HD release is available as a CAB.
I *think* I read somewhere about a 7.916 version coming pre-loaded on the Touch Pro 2, which is essentially the same tech as the Touch HD. As far as I can remember from the news report I saw about it the only thing it added over 7.915 was support for a hardware keyboard, which the TP2 has but the HD doesn't. Because of that I didn't bother to download the update or make a note of where I saw it, sorry!
::edit:: a link to 7.916 on this very forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556316
Thanks!
Apparently Windows Phone 7.8 roll-out just starter through Zune, so if anyone finds it, please catch the addresses of firmware updates and the WP7.8 cab as well, so we can update manually using CAB Sender right now, thanks

interesting news, I wonder if the device ID reg change will help it catch the update sooner.
It seems that this information is only relevant to Nokia Lumia users :/ Hope this will start soon with other brands...
I've not seen any confirmation posts that anyone normal has got it, Nokia devices, ok but which country and carrier
