TomTom Navigator 7 latest version - Touch HD Themes and Apps

I've been using TTN7 (7.915-9.96.vga_black) for some time. My memory card has now died so I've come back to find the latest version. Given TTN7 is now officially available for the Touch HD has anyone extracted it? It would be great to get the latest CAB, especially if it fixes the lag etc.
Apologies if I've missed an obvious thread anywhere, but I couldn't find it in the WIKI or the forums.

Guessing you will not be able to find it here as it is commercial software that is publicly available. So making it available here would consitute to software piracy which afaik is against xda's policy.
Either just buy it if you like it or be creative with google.

double post due to lagg. ignore or delete plz mods.

I'm not talking about Warez . The version I mentioned I have been using has been freely available on this site for months. The maps are copyrighted, the program is available. Now TomTom officially supports the Touch HD I assumed a new version would be available, and hence be available here. I purchased my maps legally from TomTom which I've been using. As I now need to re-install I am just looking to see if the TomTom official Touch HD release is available as a CAB.

I *think* I read somewhere about a 7.916 version coming pre-loaded on the Touch Pro 2, which is essentially the same tech as the Touch HD. As far as I can remember from the news report I saw about it the only thing it added over 7.915 was support for a hardware keyboard, which the TP2 has but the HD doesn't. Because of that I didn't bother to download the update or make a note of where I saw it, sorry!
::edit:: a link to 7.916 on this very forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556316

Thanks!

wm5 compatible with old software

Dear all, any problem with the WM5 compatible with old software , which can run on 2003SE. Because, I am thinking to buy new PDAphone with WM5.
there's a list in the forum which shows you apps which work with wm2005. this is based from members of the forum who tried and tested these apps (new or old) to check for wm2005 compatibility. so far all the old or favorite apps i use (when i still had 2003se on my machine) work...with the exception of animated today. i did write to the developer of that software and his response is that they're working on having this app compatible with wm2005. what you can do is check out the list of working apps for wm2005. if you have an app that's not listed you can always ask the forum and i'm sure someone's bound to answer if he/she's used the app for wm2005.
cheers
Can I have the link, please? Thanks
check this out; the link gives you a rather compressive list of apps which work with wm2005 and the htc universal. you can also do a search as i beleive there's another thread here somewhere which gives you a list of wm2005 compatible apps.

[Q]TomTom version

Hi,
Recently I've read a few posts online about different versions of tomtom. My question is what is the main difference between the most current version released which is aparently 6.035 and the version I have on my phone...6.010?
Does anybody know? Are there more options in the 6.035 version or is it just a random release to fix bugs people have had cause really.. I havnt had any bugs what so ever with my version and dont plan on upgrading unless I have to... or unless this other version has something that mine doesnt.
Thanks in Advance!
Hi,
tomtom never released this version. youre using stolen software!
I'm running Tomtom 6.01. That is a legal version. I'm not aware of the legality of 6.035 so I wouldn't know if its a hack or not. I was just wondering if it was any different then my version that's all
My experience with TomTom on various Windows Mobile devices is that version 6.00 is somehow slow and bugged on certain hardware, and that's why 6.010 exists. But it had a short life and was soon upgraded as well.
Most common on the field are 6.020 and 6.030, which are basically the same good piece of software. 6.030 is just 6.020 with some compatibility enhancements for certain devices (see TomTom site for details).
Most recent version I know of is 6.032 (another compatibility update based on 6.020). Therefore if you have 6.020 there's no real need to upgrade. 6.035, if not a fake, is likely a leaked build and I'd stay away from that.
so basically... Dont upgrade unless I am having issues... which I am not. 6.010 seems to be working fine so if there arent any additional features added why switch right?
And where can I download those official releases ?
I've recently bought their 50% discounted maps, after the lady on the phone support line (TomTom) told me it would come with software needed to use it. Later, I understood she gave me false information.
I tried downloading one from the internet (I'm afraid it's a hacked version), and didn't need any piracy stuff, as the codes that came with my map perfectly work to legally activate and use the software
But I'd like to donwload it from a trustful source, without needing to buy a whole navigator 6 package with the non discounted map (which I already have)... :s
help!
Thanks
anyone...?
Anyone know when next release will come??
DL-Link
Hi,
anyone can legally download 6.030 from www.tomtom.com/updates
Bye
Andi
i m running 6.032 it starts up faster and caculates routes faster than 6.030
What about new tomtom's version??
Will it ever come??

Prepping for GPS/Rev A ...

Well, it's March and that means that the Vogue is going to get GPS and Rev A soon! What are you guys doing to prep?
I'm trying to compare GPS software, seeing which one is the best out right now, so far TomTom 6 seems to be the top dog... Does anyone have any GPS advice?
I personally like iGuidance v4. The maps for my area were more complete than TomTom, plus it actually has voice street names instead of "turn right in 1 mile". Just wish it could get traffic updates.
IGuidance 4 for 3 reasons
TTS - Text To Speech (It can read street names, TomTom cannot)
NAVTEQ maps can tell you which side of the road your destination is on (this great for at night, TomTom cannot).
IGuidance does not lock you to your phone. Hard reset, get annother phone just install the cab and your up.
TomTom does have a nice user interface but the features above are important to me.
I was looking at a bunch of gps software recently (in anticipation of the aforementioned update) and found a few notable ones. Theres a nice roundup site by this sir Dale DePriest here http://www.gpsinformation.org/dale/PocketPC/wince.htm I think is worth mentioning.
From the ones I've looked at, ALK Copilot 7 and iGo 8 (search igo8 in youtube, and I do believe version 8 is a beta) look the nicest.
thanks guys, pretty nice info... I'm hearing that iGo isn't exactly the most accurate app on the planet, but iGo v8 looks very nice!

I have CoPilot 7 because I had a Q and this was the best Smartphone GPS app out there. It has alot of nice features, but the maps weren't as current as iGuidance v4 (atleast in my area), and there's no TTS for street names (although their tech support says they are working on releasing a patch for that).
CoPilot can get live traffic updates and re-route you. You can also send a link to someone and they can watch you on a map as you drive (this uses the internet on your phone of course).

a little off topic here, but i'm using CoPilot Live 7 and i'd like to know how you activated Traffic updates...did you activate via the web?
I have tom tom on my touch already-just waiting. I'm also waiting for my 4GB mem card cause my current one is full with all the maps
Sorry i was out of touch (no pun intended) for a few days. Did i miss an official anouncement from sprint or HTC about the update to enable GPS ? thanks
gps/rev a update for the sprint touch isnt out yet and not for another 1-3 months

That takes us to June, but I've also seen maybe August.
I use tomtom 6 and Navigon 6.2 right now.. as far as interface goes.. Navigon is way way nicer. If you cant wait for the GPS patch just get a bluetooth gps reciever and start trying the programs out now.
my vote goes to iGO, tomtom close second.
pls any one here knows if jas jam have gps in it or not?
i heared it has gps impeded in it but need software to activate it...is the tru? and what to do to activate it ?
My big step is to move absolutely _EVERYTHING_ I setup or install to a cab file that is installable via User Customization. I want to be prepared to have minimal down-time, when the new ROM gets pushed by Sprint/HTC.
Presumably it will include a new Radio, which will probably be most-easily installed by flashing the entire ROM from Sprint/HTC. Then, re-unlocking, loading the stock ROM into a kitchen and dropping in SDSetup so that all my stuff gets installed and configured.
... in the beginning, I'll be fine with Google Maps and/or Microsoft Search and their (presumably) built-in support for the GPS.
The ROM Update you have all been waiting for...
After getting tired of waiting for HTC to make their website work, I did some digging around, and I give you [pause for dramatic effect]....
http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_V..._NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecialNBH.exe
The link on their page does not work, but I just successfully downloaded this ROM.
Remember, this is for the Alltel Touch ONLY.
Hope it helps!
Does this Alltel ROM support GPS and Rev A? Can we easily port it (or just the radio ROM) to Sprint? Thanks in advance!
MJB
I know it supports Rev A but I am not POSITIVE about its GPS functionality. I know that the update for the 6800 [released at the same time] does, and since it updated the radio as well as the ROM image, and considering HTC was planning on unlocking the GPS radio in this handset, my ASSUMPTION would be that the GPS is now active - of course, I haven't been able to get it to work yet...

New TomTom maps v825: Newer not always better

Just to let you know that for a number of regions new Tomtom v825 maps are available for our HD. The map with the endings v825.2158 and 2159 work on the HD and PDAs, the 2157 are for PNA.
However, some users i.e. for the 2157-version of the new DE map report that street changes that were included in the previous v815 are now again gone in v825. But 2157 does not run on the HD anyway, so hopefully upcoming PDA-version is better.
TomTom Map United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland v825.2159
TomTom Map Scandinavia v825.2159
TomTom Map Iberia v825.2159
TomTom Map Western Europe (1GB) v825.2159
TomTom Map Benelux v825.2159
Hi,you can't buy these maps because your device is not recognized by tomtom home for the download . Only devices mentionned by tomtom can download new maps .
Compatible Devices , Touch HD doesn't appear ...
Latest TT Home will recognise HD as valid device.
Latest is 2.5 ( 2.6 is beta version ) and if you buy a map you could not download it , even if your pda is recongnised , the device ID is not in Tomtom database . We do a try with a Diamond, and a Touch HD no listed in Tomtom, we could buy a new map,we saw it in Tomtom home but we've got the following red message : This device is not compatible with Tomtom navigator 7 and just an old V675 could be downloaded . Tomtom confirm that by phone ...
there is a workaround to get the new maps and get TThome to work with your HD, it isnt illegal although isnt official or supported.
its contained in the main TT thread if you want to go and look for it, search iberia
Sorry, but Tomtom doesn't tolerate this method ... ( modify or hacking to make compatible ) . You can contact support for more infos .... You can find this on the forums devoted to Tomtom ...
Tomtom has decided not to market Tomtom Navigator 7, which we regret, we are forced to conclude that its users have in their possession an unofficial version therefore pirated.
Tomtomax will not give technical support or equipment of any kind on this version . (See our rules) .
In addition, we give the right to remove Tomtom Navigator 7 profile or signature of the poster, and to suspend the Poster's Tomtomax account Tomtomax .

Don't assume that what has happened in France is equally applicable around the globe. In the UK, I've found Tomtom to be more forward thinking.
A month ago I loaded ttn7.910.9185 then installed Tomtom 2.5. This recognised my Touch HD (Dutty 1.7 ROM) and I was able to purchase and download West Eu map 815.2024. I have since purchased and used TT traffic. I am still able to get map share info when I connect to TT home 2.5.
I queried TT UK on another matter and they were interested on how I had got my Touch HD working. Their reply regarding TT7 Nav being pirated or not was:
"Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
Navigator 7 has been released preinstalled on certain PDA's in just a few countries in Europe, including the Vodafone HTC Touch Diamond in the Netherlands.
This product has not been released in and is not supported in UK. Any PDA's or mobiles with this product preinstalled are either cracked versions or have been imported from abroad. As in your case - it was imported from abroad.
The screen size issue you mentioned is one of the examples why Navigator 7 is not yet compatible with the HTC Touch HD. Some people have experienced that the size of the navigation screen is way smaller than the actual size of your HTC screen. We thank you for offering in testing navigator 7 however we already have our R&D department working with compatibility".
I suspect the issue over an imported phone to the UK is actually the cooked ROM source that I am using.
I presume from their reply that If I had imported a Dutch THD for use in the UK then there would be no issues?

Thanks for your input, Marcdu81 just tries to be helpful and steer people away from using TT on their HD. Well, I, like thousands of other community members here, use it on our HD, in fullscreen, and TT knows that in some countries Navigator 7 was bundled with the HD and other HTC devices. As long as they can sell the maps they are happy, but dont expect support for a TT version on an imported device. TT support in my country will also let you port your maps purchased for another PDA device to the HD, given that they have been bought six months ago, under warranty.
Chance for you but in France using Tomtom 7 is not recommanded . They contact us to delete the cab application in our forum ... No problem we'll use an other navigation software ... Each country is different,i don't know why,I think Europe is not the same for everybody ...

How To Get TomTom On Touch HD

So im getting my Touch HD hopefully today or tomorrow and i was looking at putting some GPS software on it (TomTom) and i was wondering how i go about doing that? i mean i know that the actual software can be downloaded free just not the maps (as far as im aware) but i havent found any that say they work on the Touch HD - i read that "ttn7.910.9185 vga black" works but i cant find a download link for it anywhere that i have looked, also once done how do i buy the maps as i looked on the TomTom site but couldnt find the Touch HD as an option - i am missing something?
any help would be grateful
thanx
Currently you cant seem to buy it anywhere which is annoying. I would contact TOMTOM or search the forum for a Cab file. However people have reported that when this Cab is used to buy maps tomtom will not accept it as valid.
okay thanx. are there any GPS software that works with Touch HD that does NOT require that it stay on a specific memory card - i have seen some for sale at reasonable prices that come on 2gb memory cards but it seems that they cant be moved over and i would prefer not to have to shutdown phone, take memory card out and put new one in just so i can use GPS
Should be no problem to make a backup copy once you own the original. In fact many manufacturers recommend it.
Of the HD-compatible navigation solutions you might wanna look at Route 66 for compatibility with the TMC driver for HD available from this forum, useful depending on where you live, or the navigation solutions from Sygic and Ndrive, optimized for touch control.
Tomtom 7.9, Igo 8.3 and Navigon 7.4 are other great solutions, I use them, but they do not support the HD officially, if my knowledge is up to date.
i live in the UK, which one would be best / most easy to use.
so if i get say this one : http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=898&Lid=1&Category=2
it comes on 2gb memory card, so i could make a copy of that to put onto my 8gb memory card? would i still be able to buy maps for it - though most likley wouldnt need any yet as i dont plan on going to USA, Canada ect any time soon
as looking at the buy maps option it doesnt show Touch HD as an option but in the product details it says that its compatible with Touch HD ???
ttn7.915.9196.cab
This is the installation pack that I use.
I had my own tt 520 unit destroyed so decided to use the maps I had bought from TomTom on the HD... it's complicated but there are solutions on dodgy sites that allow a users to register a map with a device... Thank heavens for that!!!
Works well and has no issues with any of the Miri Builds of WM6.5 or Stock 6.1 (Orange UK).
RIP MJ.

iF YOU WANT TO USE TT/ with legally bought maps on the HD, here is a solution how to do it:
