Hi, I have this problem.
I've just changed my rom to AuraxTSense. After installing, its unable to detect/read my sd card (no problem reading sdcard in recovery though). Tried reinstalling the rom and i got this error when i do a wipe data/factory reset.
E:Can't mount /dev/blocl/mmcblk0p2 (File Exists)
Error mounting SDEXT:!
Would appreciate if anyone enlighten me. I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7, Rom AuraxTSense 8.2.
I may have the same problem.
But I can't even read the SDcard in recovery...e.g. via "choose zip from sd"
What can I do?
edit:
Ok, I think I solved it for my case...
I could boot into the Rom itself, but didn't have any access on the sdcard (it wasn't even recognised by the system). I tried to connect the phone via USB, but nothing happend. By reading through the "USB brick" threads here on xda, I found out that a not accessible sdcard can't be activated by entering "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" via adb shell.
It worked and the shell responded to the command with an "okay" and displayed the duration of the execution. But I still had no access to the sdcard
After hours of reading and trying I somewhere found a post that advised to simply clean the contacts of the sdcard! At first it sounded to me like some hanky-panky "trick" like (blowing in the slot of the old Gameboy ). Nevertheless IT WORKED
I booted the phone into hboot (vol. down + power), initially on my way to recovery, and it kind of aautomatically recognised an sdcard, showing the following (step-by-step):
Code:
SD Checking...
Loading...[PB99DIAG.zip]
NO Image!
Loading...[PB99DIAG.nbh]
No Image or wrong Image!
Loading...[PB99IMG.zip]
No Image!
Loading...[PB99IMG.nbh]
No Image or wrong Image!
(I think it's the routine that checks for a PB99IMG, the stock rom/RUU, which would be installed if there was no rom installed or the rom corrupted.)
At first I couldn't believe my eyes, but being able to browse the sdcard again in recovery ("choose zip from sd") was the verification sdcard is working again.
So I booted up the phone (took extremely long) and my sdcard was mounted correctly and all the apps, on my ext3 for a2sd were back, too.
And it was no longer "usb-bricked". Without flashing the "usb brick fix" I could connect to my computer via usb. (I'm not sure if it really was usb bricked or if this function was just blocked by the unmountable sdcard...)
Maybe this is a help for you, too.
Thanks for the tip. Sadly not the case for me.
Hopefully someone has an insight regarding the error msg
Maybe your ext-Partition is simply corrupted?
Because the error message only relates to /dev/blocl/mmcblk0p2
Do you have access to another microSD? Try to format it in the same way:
Primary Partition FAT32 and secondary ext3 for apps.
If this works without further complications, you could try to format and repartition the currently installed mircoSD.
Restoring the Apps and Settings from a Backup tool (Titanium, MyBackup) should work if you backup the "backup files" (usually on the FAT32 partition) beforehand.
Greetings
Tried formating the ext-partition in recovery, no success whateverso...
Can't format it using Rom Manager either, no sdcard detected...
Any other ways i can format it?
It should be no problem using a linux-live cd.
Download and burn the cd, boot the linux from it and navigate to a tool like "gparted" or some other partitioning programm.
I would recommend you to insert the microSD into an adapter for cardreaders or an microSD->USB-Adapter...just to be independet from phone-related errors.
If you don't have such an adapter you could try mounting the device in recovery to your booted-up live-cd linux. Maybe the ext3 partition is recognized.

Used Hboot and unrevoked, dl. Rom manager and flashed with ClockwordMOD.
Now i need to partion SD card, choosing 512mb and 0mb for swap.
phone restartes and i get ! and an android, how long should i wait.
When pressing power it goes into Recovery and i can chose unmount ect.
but nothing happens....
"I will try toggle signature, read that in another thread, its now enabled, hope this will do it."
What should i do, think this is the last step before using Desire HD Rom.
Please help! thanks.
I think this is the third time in tow days that this question is asked.
To solve this toggle signature verification in recovery.
and by toggle dos that mean enable??

No disable.
hmm i think it was, since i pressed it once and it said enable.
But anyway i will try, thanks.
Still the same, exclamation + an android
Last thing I know is to clear cache in rom manager and flash recovery again, also in rom manager. Then try again.

Thanks that did it....could see it formating!
That worked for me too, thanks...
Well I have been interested in creating an ext 3 partition on my SD card for a while, but shiied away from doing it because it all seemed too complicated. But this morning I read in one of LeeDroid's threads that I should try it through ROM Manager. I had the same result mentioned earlier in this thread - ! + Android.
So I when I saw that it could be fixed by clearing the cache in ROM Manager, etc, I tried that. Well that seemed to work but now when it tries to boot, it takes 10 minutes before I pull out the battery in frustration.
Have I "bricked" it or can I recover from here? I don't seem to be able to get back into recovery mode at all.
Please help!!!
Does your phone boot? If yes you can try to to clear the cache again and the reflash CWM from Rom Manager. Otherwise you can try to delete the update.zip (should only be a couple of Mb otherwise it's a rom) from the sd and replace it with this one.
And if you are already S-off, which i don't think you are nor recommend you to do, you can flash it via fastboot.
I should also have mentioned earlier that I am running a LeeDroid ROM v 2.2e. Since my last post, I re-formatted the SD card and restored my sd card copy to it, so all that data should be intact again.
It booted normally but I noticed that I had a message saying that the SD was "safe to remove". I tried to mount the sd card, but that didn't work. So I then thought I should clear all data. So I rebooted into Recovery mode, deleted all data including Dalvik. Then rebooted. Unfortunately it now goes into a loop. It gets through the old Telstra splash screen, then makes its Android noise, goes through all the checks and says "Success", then goes into the same loop again.
Any suggestions??
When I am in Recovery mode, I can see no reference to the "signature verification" functionality. Where can I find it?
By the way, I have now updated to the LeeDroid 2.3 ROM with the patch applied. Currently I have a blank SD formatted card. When I try to format ext 3 to 512mb as suggested by LeeDroid, I still get the ! + Android.
Thanks
Assuming you are using Clockwork Recovery, boot into recovery and select 'Install zip from SD card', then select 'Toggle signature verification' to turn off signature checking and flash your rom update zip.

Thanks for your advice, but I still ahven't resolved my issue.
I am trying to create an ext3 partition on my sd card using ROM Manager. This time I went into Recovery and yes I am using Clockwork, I toggled signature varification to 'disable', then rebooted. Next I opened ROM Manager and then 'Partition SD Card'. I set ext3 to 512mb and swap to 0mb and clicked OK.
The device rebooted and then hung with the exclamation mark and Android showing. I went into Recovery again by pressing back and on/off keys. The following error message was displayed:
"E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (invalid argument)
E;signature verification failed
Installation aborted"
I get the same message regardless of having the signature toggle set to 'enable' or 'disable'.
Any suggestions for what I should try next?
Thanks

You have several options here, you can first try reinstalling Rom Manager to see if that helps, if not, you could try using this tool to partition the sd card: MiniTool Partition Wizard, or use the Amon-Ra recovery - flash it with unrEVOked and use that to partition your sd card.
As an alternative, you can try using an Ubuntu live cd of GParted by either burning it to a cd or boot it from a usb stick: http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download.
Or, you use it from within Ubuntu (vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVK-tJe8pXE&feature=related)
1) Connect your phone to your computer (or use an SD Card adapter...., in this case skip to 4)
2) Pull down the notification bar and mount the phone
3) Start Gparted
4) Gparted will search available drives. (Your phone should show up as a USB drive, and will be something like /dev/sdb1 or /dev/sdc1, etc..)
Warning: double-check you've not selected a hdd by mistake!
5) In the upper right corner, select the correct USB device for your phone. (i.e. check to make sure it is correct size for your SD card)
6) Right click on each partition and select 'unmount'
7) Right click on each partition and select 'delete'
If you know what you are doing, you can re-size the partitions and add a new 2nd partition formatted as ext2/3/4
8) Right click on the big gray bar (should say unallocated x.xx gb) and click 'new'
9) Enter configurations
Free Space preceding = 0
Create as = Primary
New size = [don't touch]
File system = fat32
Free Space Following = 512 (or whatever you want)
10) Click add
11) Right click on the big gray bar (should say unallocated x.xx gb) and click 'new'
12) Enter configurations
Free Space preceding = 0
Create as = Primary
New size = [don't touch]
File system = ext2/3/4 (recommend ext4)
Free Space Following = 0 (or ~32 if you want swap)
Click add
13) Click edit, then 'Apply All Operations' to write changes to disk
14) Quit GParted
15) Unmount your SD Card
16) Reboot your phone
Thanks for your suggestions. I downloaded MiniTool Partition Wizard, but for some reason the "Create" function on the tool bar was greyed out so I could not create a new partition. I'll keep trying though. Cheers.
Oks, let us know how you get on.

well, the latest on my happenings is that I took a bit more time to look at the MiniTool Partition app and was able to partition the sd card successfully. Because I was a bit apprehensive, I used a 2GB sd card for an initial trial and it took me a while to get it right, but I did it in the end.
Unfortunately (there's always one of them isn't there?), now when I connect my Desire to the USB and select "Disk Drive", it seems to connect as if it is "Charge Only" mode. I cannot see the sd card in MS Explorer! Also if I take the sd card out of the device and put it into the sd card slot in my laptop, I cannot read it with MS Explorer, but I can see it using the MiniTool Partition app.
I'll try it again tonight on my desktop to see if there is any difference.
I had your problem with the partition manager but I think you are making a basic mistake somewhere with rom manager. You need to boot into recovery and disable the signature verification as per instructions in this thread. Make sure it says 'disabled'. Then choose 'Reboot system now'. If you had rebooted, turned the phone off and booted again, the signature verification would have been enabled again. You must make sure you toggle and then boot the system immediately. I had your problems exactly but they were fixed by the toggle. The only other suggestion I can make is to clear the cache and the dalvick cache before you toggle and then boot and use rom manager.

Hello,
I have a PVT4 Desire with erasezize 40000
I am rootes and s-off
Recovery : Clockworkmod Alpharev Recovery 2.5.1.8
After i switch from Starburst Rom to a normal apps2sd+ rom, i got this:
E: Can´t mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)
Error everytime in Recovery.
This error comes before i have to confirm the wipe of the dalvik cache.
I unrooted the phone with a official RUU and rooted it again and did s-off again,
but the error still exists.
Stock Rom is working, recovery is working, but i am afraid of flashing a new rom
Please help
Thank you
Do you still have the ext partition? I believe this is the error that you get when there is no ext partition.
no, i don´t have a ext partition, because it is a rooted stock rom running now without apps2sd+
its a new sdcard fat 32
do you mean if i create a new ext partition on the sd card, the error disappers ??
Yes but i don't know if there is any point in doing that.
ok, i created a new ext 3 partition on the sd card, but the error still exists
I found the exact error in a different thread here.
They managed to solve it
dunno if its of ne help....but i had the same prob of "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcbld0p2 (file exists)" with my HTC Desire with cynogen recovery mod and leedroid.
phone was getting stuck at boot screen. only recovery was working. i unmounted the SD card, deleted the ext3 partition through Disk Management in windows and mounted the card again. Now, android booted (but without A2SD) i downloaded ROM Manager and used the option "partition SD card" and like a miracle, the phone rebooted, partitioned my SD card, and rebooted back to android (this time WITH A2SD working!!!)
hope it gets as easy as this for u guys as well.
(P.S. : before A2SD, my internal space showed 92.4 mb, after A2SD started functioning, internal memory showed 130.2 mb)
PVT4 Desire's can't use CWM - they have to use AmonRA as highlighted in the stickied at the top of the General thread
stuck in bootloop, with same error in recovery
i have somehow managed to screw the device, it wont boot stuck at htc white screen, id really appreciate if you could help, i cant manage to get adb setup on my computer to list the connected devices maybe the driver issues
what i did to get into this was this:
1.i was using a custom rom from Auraxtsense 8.3 with Amon.RA recovery
2.i got into Rom Manager n install clockworkmod recovery just out of curiosity, the next reboot i was stuck on the htc screen
3.i can get into recovery n stuff, but i cannot mount my SD card, ive somehow managed to get my data out of the card by using it from another phone
steps tried:
1.i tried to go into fastboot n use a RUU to flash it but i got a Error 171 usb connection error
2.tried using Android fastboot commander but it fails to flash any type of file
i cannot understand the right process to go about things please help me, even if i can setup adb with the right drivers, access it from hboot or so push files make it stock then root n stuff again
formatted the sdcard totally to fat32 also n then tried via recovery to partition n all no luck

Code:

although i followed 2 threads

Usb Brick Function
but jus used the command n formatted memory card n stuff worked not i couldnt move those 2 files mentioned here to the system since cat commands couldnt work
im still unsure device seems restored using my earlier rom from AuraxtSense with Data2SD
i still wonder if it completely fixed, n whether i should go ahead n create a goldcard, n like i need a guide to know what are the perfect things to do to keep as backup when such stuff happens

hey the error of the recovery not being able to access memory card is gone, but now when within the android OS the problem is when connected to the computer the charge sign or even the prompt to mount as disk drive does not show in the notification
in short i need to mount my memory card on the computer n the android OS cannot figure out how, is there somethin that may still be locked, i issued a command earlier from fastboot to get the earlier problem go
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0

hey thanks, i tried here
i need some help
Code:
3. Get flash_image from the attached files below
Move this to /data/ , and flash the modified image using:
"/data/flash_image misc /data/mtd0.img"
You can move both mtd0.img and flash_image by putting it on your sdcard, and issueing the following command in a terminal emulator:
'cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image'
'cat /sdcard/mtd0.img > /data/mtd0.img'
You might have to do 'chmod u+x /data/flash_image' before you run the commands (or chmod 755 /data/flash_image)
4. Repeat step 3 a couple of times if it doesn't seem to work well.
5. All done! Reboot, you should have normal usb connectivity. Post your 'fastboot oem boot' log and intermediate steps if it fails.
i got the 2 files on my sdcard, im rooted but S-ON, i tried the 3 commands
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
cat /sdcard/mtd0.img > /data/mtd0.img
chmod u+x /data/flash_image
in terminal emulator on phone, but when i press enter jus shows # again
then tried /data/flash_image misc /data/mtd0.img
says illegal instruction or somethin as an error
can you help me if im doin this rite? i browsed the /data/ folder via a ESFile Browser it seemed to be empty
I had this issue with my SD using, i solved it. Just partition your SD with 512mb for ext2 primary and the rest for fat32 WITH ALSO primary partition, I was using FAT32 Primary and EXT Logical, thats why i got the error =)
Hope it helps, and sorry for my bad english

hey i had this problem a few weeks back
refer this thread just to get the update.zip file
1.format your SD card to FAT32, put update.zip on it
2.boot into fastboot, connect usb cord to phone n computer
to get into fastboot mode
press volume down + power held for a few seconds when phone is off
then press volume down once n enter fastboot
then connect the phone to the computer
3.on the computer run command prompt n browse to the director with android SDK n go into the tools folder
execute this command
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
4.once this is done, the SD card is then recognized by the recovery
5.now reboot go back into recovery from the same volume down+power sequence n then say flash zip from SD card
to get into recovery
vol down + power at start n then select recovery (having access to recovery is important)
then choose flash zip from sd n flash the file update.zip from your sd card
basically the fastboot command n format of the sd card should be fine to let you flash a new ROM zip file n get the phone started
but the issue is actually called a USB brick in which, you lose access to bluetooth, battery drains a lot, n there is no way to access mem card via usb on the computer its not recognized
hence i flashed this update file from that forum there, which describes the fix in detail
Hello, tonight i tried some thing (i just wanted to change rom), but i made some mistakes... now i cannot boot my phone, it keeps rebooting. I have Leedroid ROM and it keeps rebooting after PC-boot like animation. The only thing i can access is the back button + power recovery. What can i do?
Thanks!
I have tried to wipe the cache and system, and solo deleted storage (hard reset)... but same point. I think that if i can put a update.zip on the sdcard i can flash it... but at the moment i don't have a sd card reader. Is the phone dead?
No your phone isnt dead
1. If you have a nandroid on your sd card just enter hboot and recover your system.
2. Otherwise you can perform an md5 check of the rom you downloaded and wish to flash. (just to make sure its not corrupted, i suppose your trying to flash leedroid) Enter hboot wipe everything >system wipe>cache>dalvic and then relash the rom. Oh and make sure your sd card is partitioned correctly ... a2sd, D2EXt ...
3. If problem persists go into hboot mount your phone as storage copy another rom you would like to try and then flash this, you can just follow the steps in no2 abouve again.
This should solve your problem!
The thing that i have done BAD is the format of the card... or better, i have done right things but i'm almost sure something was wrong. I formatted it from gparted, then created a 3GB FAT32 partition, and with the remaining space i created a ext4 partition. Then, i moved the files needed for the rom that i wanted to flash (MIUI) in the fat32 partition, as i seen that the ext4 part was mounted read only (dunno why).
IMPORTANT: I have done all this mounting the SD card via Clockwork recovery.
When i selected the voice "flash a zip selecting from memory card" (or something )... it said "cannot find a valid zip".
Then the only choice for me was to reboot and... that is
Now i cannot mount SD, as i don't have (at home) a SD card reader and i don't have access to CWM recovery.
hi!
I have a defy, rooted with z4root and installed clockwork recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875233
everything is fine, superuser is here, I can boot into recovery but when I want to do a nandroid backup or install zip from sd it says something like: "can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 or /dev/block/mmcblk0"
one more thing, when I try to access my sd card through astro file manager, first it says: "directory mnt/sdcard not found" and then it shows the content of the card....and at the top of the screen it should say /mnt/sdcard, on my phone it's just /sdcard...
what could be the issue, did I do something wrong when I rooted it, installed recovery?
faulty sd card?
is there a way to undo everything and try to do it all over again?
I've searched everywhere but didn't find any usable solution...
thank you
have you tried formatting your SD from phone-->setting-->...
might be faulty SD
that did the trick, thank you
OK. So I need some serious help.
I have thrashed the web and found similar issues but the fixes there do not work for me.
Today I followed the instructions on the t-mod site (t-mod.org) to install T-Mod LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.3 Port R5 A2SD (Australian version of Leedroid). I had to apply the Telstra froyo RUU first to update my Hboot. The root process and s-off seemed to go fine. I installed the radio Radio_32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08 and then T-mod.
On the first boot it went past the s-off ‘Why so serious’ screen and I thought I had it made but then the keep looping through the same boot animation screen. The last line reads “Detecting phone storage…”
I went back to recovery and found the CWM could not mount my sdcard.

(no such file or directory)
Error mounting SDCARD:!
Since then I have tried a number of things.
- Tried to format card from CWM. Failed
- Tried to format card in Windows 7, which worked. But did not help.
- Tried a different sdcard. No difference.
- Tried to reapply the Telstra RUU. Successfully detected the device but would not complete.
- Hit the panic button.
Other people have reported similar issues with CWM not mounting the sdcard but this is generally fixed by either formatting the card or using a different card. The card in the phone was a brand new Lexar 16GB class 6 and then I tried the original 2GB Sandisk.
Please help.

Wow. I look at that but not well enough. I thought it was for only when your pc would not detect your phone but it is so much more. thanks
It really is much easier than it looks. Just get Android Flasher from the link I provided in the other thread and run that command and that should re-enable your SD card on your phone.
This happened to my Desire once and I was stuck for hours, in the end found this to fix it, just plug your phone up via Fastboot and give this a go:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
Same thing happened to me just now. Fastboot says OKAY but still sd cant be mounted. Is there any other way? I used ADB, I'll also try Android Flasher.
EDIT : I formatted SD via CWM now it works
EDIT2 :Formerly I formatted with gparted in Linux, still wondering why it went wrong
please delete me
Hey Guys, i have the same problem. But i dont know what i should do with the Android Flasher ... Just go to /data an execute the files?? I have the Galaxy S2!
When i click on external_sd/ it says No files found. And how can you re flash the ROM, without having the sd card working. (because all the people say after re flashing it worked again:/)
