Yeah, I can help you, but WHAT icon do you want. As you can tell your statement contradicts itself. So which icon doesn't show up, the one next to your clock or the Bigger icon. You said the calendar icon next to you clock no longer shows up, but you want the bigger icon, HUH?!?
no it dosent contradict it self because in the corner of each panel theres a tiny icon and then next to the clock theres a big icon so i clafied that, i need the big icon right next to the numbers of the clock. it was a calender or soemthing please help its drivin me nuts
I think I know what you're trying to say
First off don't be so quick to jab, you are coming here for help you know. I was just pointing out that what you said really isn't describing your problem correctly.
That being said. I think what you are referring to is your alarm. It has a picture and it's right next to your clock as you call it or the time display portion of your Clock Panel. Anyway, it only shows when your alarm is present. Try turning on your alarm and see if that does it.
If that is not what you are talking about, then the only other thing I could think of is that you mean your tiny icon could be your inactive icon or your active icon. These would require registry edits to put them back on your screen. You need to go to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\Clock and edit where it says the icon paths are. Not hard to do. Also you might want to edit the HKLM\Security\CHome\Default Settings\Clock portion of the iconpaths. This should fix that. If that is your problem. Other than that, you're on your own. Unless you can articulate yourself better or in a fashion in which all can understand you or your dilemma!!
Cheers!

Clock falls behind
I'm having problems with the clock falling behind. I go to sleep, wake up, and the clock is about 20-30 minutes behind. I'm running the 6.1 rom. Any help is appreciated.

So are you saying that, with knowing the right key in the registry, one could change that dinky looking transparent music note on the Music panel to, say, something with more class? I have several icons at my disposal (as I'm sure most here do) and would love to change that icon...Also, the tiny icon on the upper left corner of the home panel just next to the carrier (T-Mo) is just a calendar...it was something different before I hard reset the phone with this ROM installed. If you know these keys, please list them! I'd appreciate it ever so much!

Just find the folder of the panel you wish to modify and look for the key iconpath, within that folder. Direct it to your own icon.
FYI export the keys just in case you goof up something, you can import them again

I see where the string for icon paths entry reads 2401;2401...should I just change that to \Windows\music.png?

yup in both reg address though
Also you would have to type it out as: \Windows\music.png;\Windows\music.png
Cause the first is for active window icon and the second is for inactive window icon.
ok well...it changed the small icon in the title of the panel but not the main icon
I want to replace the WM6.1 default transparent music note with the png I have placed in windows...where do I alter that or can I?
can you post a screen shot of the icon you want changed.
i cant picture which one you are speaking off.

Try going to the reg to and changing HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CMusic\Images\chMusic_noalbumart and the same in Security reg for chome. I think those change the big default icon that shows when no album art is present.

Thanks for the tip. For clarity, I speak of the transparent music note that is positioned just to the left of "Play All Songs" within the panel. Now I can't believe it'd be too hard to spot. I've flashed my phone with Kavana's so those with that ROM can't have too different a panel!
On that note, pun intended, I may have found it due to your suggestion Showaco! I should have investigated more. I mean it was right there!

You guys can obviously reply with your favorite feature(s) of 2.2, but are there any more subtle changes than overall performance boost you guys noticed?
For me, I like how the 3G looks like now. It's mundane and stupid, but I like how it's more curved rather than blocky. I don't have 4G in my area so I'm curious if the 4G looks similar to the new 3G or if it retains the old look.
I appreciate the little touches of color HTC added to some of their icons I'm still poking around but that jumped out at me right off the bat.

Oh yeah, I thought something looked off when I had to do the unlock pattern for the first time.
Is it just me or did the notification bar change a little? I use handcent for messaging, and usually when I got two messages in a row the notification bar just had the handcent image at the top. Now it shows 2, 3 or however many unread messages I have.
Very nice. I'm loving my phone even more.
Yeah, I dig the new 3G logo - it takes it in line with how the Incredible looks. I also like the "default" picture for those who don't have a photo for Caller ID. The 3D glossy Android looks great. Also, having Facebook statuses and pending Birthdays when someone calls on the call screen is awesome too.

Oh, and I noticed (but just now confirmed it) the AM/PM symbol is slightly smaller than it was before; prior to the update, the AM/PM would be the same font size as the time, but now it's like 1-2 pts smaller.
I like that sound and display are seperated in the settings menu now.
I like my benchmarks A LOT
I like the flashlight, and I like that I can "Set Install Location"
I like that the settings>applications>manage_applications menu opens so fast now
I like the new market, and how they are using tabs in some system menu's (like the applications menu)

YES this was a HUGE, GARGANTUAN, MONOLITHIC improvement!!!!
Im on 4G now and its a squared off 4G with 3 possible bars for service, not sure what the old one looked like but it looks the same, but the new texting layout is somewhat nice, i liked the older style layout but i like how it tells you how many unread on in the top corner and how many texts you have going with each person, now it looks like a high score table to see who i can text the most in a month... haha
Theres one of these small changes I absolutely hate. Remember that cool looking 3Dish bag icon in the market (top left). It now looks the same as the app icon. Which is crappay!

Do you use Handcent? I thought the default messaging program didn't have a visible count on sending messages. Is this a new feature of the default messaging app or are you using Handcent? The Handcent notification bar icon has the little green circle with white font for number of unread messages.
Sounds like the 4G bar looks the same - it was not as squared off as the 3G symbol - I think only because the 4 seemed wider than the 3.
I don't notice much of a difference. Sence is still the lethargic turd it always was.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that I love how the security pattern has a timer on it like the Droid X had when it launched (I think I read that at least) - you can set it to come on after a certain number of minutes rather than every time the screen is shut off!
HUGE plus in my book. I want the security there in case someone steals my phone, but not make me swipe it every single time while I text with someone over the course of 10 minutes.

It's not in settings, its an app in the app drawer. It's called "SetInstallLocation"
the multi touch keyboard is awesome. even though I'm using the cm6 one

One thing I noticed is the vibrate feedback from hitting the buttons -- it seems shorter and softer.
I know I already said this but DAMN I love how the security pattern doesn't require you to enter it now after EVERY single time you turn the screen off.
Even Gmail looks a little different. A lot of the physical look of apps seem to be more polished looking too.
Hey yall, I just got my G2 and I've already modded it out the wazoo, the only question I have at the moment is how do I get rid of the currently running apps on the top of the notification bar in Virtuous? It's really bugging me.
Not much of a sense fan here, but I'm assuming you have to turn off notifications for each app inside the app settings...
Not the notifications...this rom has a kind of task killer built into the notifications window

Im running Virtuous 0.8.1 and dont have any apps in my notification bar, are you sure its not an app you installed apart from the Virtuous rom, there is no built in task killer that ive found apart from the andriod "Manage applications" or the "Running services" in the menu/settings/applications drawer, but both of these do not put anything in the notification bar.
He's talking about the row of recently used apps in the pull-down notification bar. This is a 'feature' of the new version of Sense - the only way to get rid of it would be for the ROM devs to remove it.
I'm sure you could tinker with something like the framework or something to disable it, but I wouldn't know the first thing about it. There's no easy way to do it, basically.

Like I said in my previous post, about there are others with the same issue (doesn't bother me), but if enough of you contact HTC about this, they could possibly add an option to show or not in later releases.
We need some variety and i was getting kinda bored with the phisher-price/blinky lights look of the toggles. Toggles are now simple and clean Ice Cream Sandwich blue. Notifications still appear in black backgrounds. I also got rid of the full battery icon that would appear in the top left corner when battery was fully charged i dont need that my lockscreen does that.
instructions
download file, unzip, put on sdcard, open root explorer and move systemui.apk to system, make sure you toggle ro/rw in top right corner, long press on it select permissions change permissions according to the picture below, now move it into the app folder, root explorer will ask if you want to overwrite the original click yes. Thats it exit root explorer reboot your phone
sorry for the long drawn out instructions i just dont want anyone to get lost. Feel free to use any of this artwork in what ever you heart desires.
Thanks! I really like this. The toggle icons look great and so does the translucent pull down.
The only suggestion I have would be to make the background behind the toggles dark. Sometimes it's hard to see them when the background is bleeding through.
Again, nice work.

Did you also remove the systemui.odex file? If so, that's the problem. You need to keep the odex file in place.
you seem to have 2 notif folders with the same systemui.apk.. ?
Nearly every picture of this phone I've seen it has a rather large search bar at the top of the home screen. Can it be removed? If not - could it be removed with root ?

If you remove that ... you need another hack to enable "search".
Because there is no search "key" (virtual key).

They could bind it to long-press task switcher key for example. My x10 did also come without search button but it was bound to long-press menu key. Should be possible with software keys as well, right?

I wouldn't mind so much if they let me resize the damn thing. I know it's important but I really want it a quarter of it's current size.
I think P3Droid did it by modifying Launcher.apk and pushing it back to the device.

thye could let us at least be able to move it.. say to one of the other 5 screens, so its not on the main one
I believe its constant across all 5 homescreens, but I understand what you mean. I assume you mean have only one, and make it available to move around right?
If you are willing to root, then you can do many UI customizations as per P3Droid's mods or Paul_Brian's ROMs. You need root because most involve editing the launcher or framework-res.apk and other system components.
Yea. For me anyways I would rarely use search; so stuffing it in a place where it doesn't take prime space would be nice....; alternatively it could just be an ap that you can put on a screen as desired; or a menu option to enable / disable. Lots of solutions that doesnt' require it to be on every screen at the top...

Considering that you can't use the space that is left when you get rid of the search bar, I personally don't see what all the fuss is about.
You cannot place homescreen shortcuts or any other widget there, since as soon as you pick up an icon or widget to place on the home screen, that area is reserved for the Remove/App Info/Uninstall prompt.
So the only result of getting rid of the search bar would be a blank space that can serve no function at all. If I had to choose between a blank space that cannot be utilised, over a search bar...I'd choose search bar.
Or just download a different launcher. My HC tablet has the Google Search widget at the top-left corner that is static. A quick ADW EX download and bada-bing, bada-boom.
I'm running ICS CM7 theme on my G2x and I kinda like the search bar's location. Eventually I'd like to replace it with a clock or weather widget, but I don't stick with the stock launcher very long.
Ack I though the space could be used (I do not yet have the phone). That is also sad

How about a complet transparent search bar? You couldn't see it but it's there and if you know it you can use it.
The search bar should remain a widget, as it used to be. That would give users the most options, which is what Android is about.
