As soon as I notice an update released I will post that to.

many thanks for this for some reason my base-band disapeard ?? and im going back to the standard rom. how is Blackpool !!! i now live in New Zealand but what i read on the Evening Gazettes web page makes it look a really bad place to live now, i am not saying it was ever good as i grew up on the Mereside estate, on Langdale rd to be precise.
anyway once again many thanks for the rom, and its good to see a fellow black publican on here, take care and the very best of regards....
dave

If you lose you lose the baseband it didn't flash correctly give it a second shot.
I've had it a few times of different galaxy s when the baseband doesn't show.
Blackpool is same as ever not sure its ever going to be a great place to live. I've only been here 6months don't plan on staying forever.

If you loose Baseband, flash only the modem, no pit, no re-partition.

from what I ca gather the PIT file maps out the update and is needed for a full flash.
In my samsung manual it tells me to do them separately on all phones that use odin.
never tried doing all at once though.

Is this update safe for an Network locked SGS. I have just get it and i don't know if this is going to get ride of the Network locked issue.

[SOLVED] From JPC to JM7

Hey everybody... i have a german SGS from o2 with JM5. When the JPC was released i flashed the JPC via Kies with the registry hack. I rooted the device and installed the OneClickLagvix via apk. Everything went fine and until now everything is..
But now i want to go back to eclair (JM7) and im wondering if i can expect problems, when i flash via odin back from JPC to JM7.
Do i have to do something before starting flashing? What about the product code changes?
I would also like to know this.
JPC seems far too buggy for me.

I just flashed it back to jm7 without any trouble. Non branded i9000. Follow the guide in the jm7 thread. Had to clear data/wipe cache tho

You can do so using Odin. Just make sure you choose the option "re-partition" before you start to flash it back
No real problems here, except the the previous jm7 thread, it just didnt work for me as its very long and kind of pointless.
I flashed 2 i9000 from JPC to JM7, just as you would flash a JM5 with Odin, with these options ticked (Re-partition, Auto Reboot, Reset Time) by also including the PIT, PDA, PHONE and CSC.
Once flashed, let it boot, wait for the S boot animation, remove the battery, load into the recovery more (Vol Up + Menu + Power) and Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
All Done.
On both devices that I done this, without doing a Wipe Data / Factory Reset, it wouldnt load into the desktop for some reason, only to a blank screen, so if the same happens with you after you flash JM7, just Wipe Data / Factory Reset in Recovery Mode.
All the best guys.
it's solved.
never knew it was an issue..
i did it and worked fine..
i actually went ...........
JPC --> reset phone via recovery --> flash via kies to JM1 --> flash via odin to JM6 --> flash via odin to JM7
thats it...
no issues..
nothing...
So thank you guys so much for giving me all that hints and tips. It works without problems, doing the guide from JM7-Thread!
This one is solved, because of you! Thank you!

Why would you go from JPC to JM7 anyway? =)
I know it's still beta, but what freaked you out?
I have JM5 and i'll put JPC today.. Dont freak ME out, heh
i had jpc for some days.. today phone was not starting.. locked at the S screen. after lot of reboots switched to jm7. with odin all went ok
Please add that situation to:

It's not mentioned there!!
By the way, did you lagfix or changed kernel? Or just stock JPC?
Did you try to remove baterry ?

I had same problems... SGS was not starting anymore with JPC. From one day to another. I also rooted and lagedfixed the JPC with OCLF, (max results 1800) but after lagfixing the phone was fast the first day but only got more lages after one day running...
so the JPC has to many bugs for me... (missing vibration for sms, ...) It is also messing up the sales code and doing other changes that are not being changed after installing another firmware after JPC. (I had that problem after getting back to JM7). I had to change everything back manually after flashing JM7, this took about three hours reading, 3 flashs and 3 factory resets!
So for me... Never again JPC, never again, Froyo beta via Kies!! For me, it was a failure to flash JPC (via Kies)!
I hate you! I hate you!!
Now i've freaked out and i will not go to Froyo... Yet...
Damn....
(just kidding.. but yes, i might just go for JM7...)
cheers, thkx

;-) sorry bout that.. Perhaps you dont have these issues if you flash via odin, i dont know. I hat a lot of issues, but i flashed via Kies. But i think for the future, you will be happier with NOT flashing the JPC (via Kies).
Im now on JM7 and this one works great for me... Its very, very fast after rooting and OCLF!
In the end, its your decision! But if you get problems flashing another firmware after JPC, dont say, that nobody warned you! ;-)

you have to get the latest version of Odin (Odin3 v1.3)
Ok, so there's a new ODIN?? Geez.. Missed that
About the update, i never used (and cannot use) Kies, since my current ROM has Kies stripped out (or my Windows 7 PC sucks as usual in M$ $hit..)
I think i'll go for JM7 later on today, and using Odin v1.3
Since this Thread is now SOLVED, i think i can drop a few questions:
1) Any special recommendation for installing JM7? Precautions?
2) I already backed up:
-> nv_data.bin
-> nv_data.bin.md5
-> imei folder
-> did a ROM backup with Clockwork
->>> Am i missing something?
3) where can i get this new Odin? All i got is broken links
4) What is OCLF?
Cheers mates!
(Froyo hates you, very very bad!! )
I can tell you how i would do it, after reading, flashing, reading, updating, hardresetting, reading, flashing, and again reading for a couple of hours now.
But first, where do you come from?

read flash firmware using odin. i recommend one of the jmX firmwares. the newest of them being WXJM7
thanks a lot for the help, i will never forget you. i was scared of losing the warranty and not solving this issue. if i am right, the method will work because i didnt know that you can make an entrance to the system. i checked the download mode and it works, i am now stuck with my pc until i repair it and on the firmware. 2 questions: 1. if the drivers of the sgs are installed, do i need to remove kies and reinstall it or something like that? and 2. if i did the factory reset, was the internal sd card formatted? thanks a lot again.

1)Hi there. There is no need to uninstall/reinstall kies, in fact u do not have to open it to be able to use odin. You can view this video tutorial first part and second part for illustration purposes. If you are unable to connect to odin you can open kies and reinstall your drivers with it.
2) As far as I know when you do a factory reset only your system reserved partition of your internal sdcard is formatted. The rest of your data in /SDCARD will remain untouched.
Senior members pls correct me if I'm wrong.

theoretically you WILL loose your warranty when you use odin to flash a firmware, in reality the will never find out as long as you don't brick it during flashing...if you want to be 100% on the save side (regarding the warranty) you can also flash the original firmware (JF3 for me) back. personally i would not worry about that ...

as i wrote above i recommend a JMX one (JM6 or JM7) as they are really stable. i use JPC (android 2.2) which works well for me but there are people reporting serious problems like locked phones and overwritten IMEI's. therefore i wouldn't recommend this for unexperienced people...
i don't want to worry you but there are people who managed to brick their phones with odin. it's very very unlikely if you follow the instructions precisely. just that you know ... read the howto's carefully before proceeding!

i agree but desperate people don't care about forum-rules which is why we have so many threads like this in the dev section. i guess the only way to solve this would be if an admin/mod would manually move them
i will consider this and i understand that it has some risk, but i think this is my only chance. also, i hope the 0.05 percent chance of a major electricity fail will not ruine my phone. for clarifying: is this reflash like the windows reinstalation with different update packs? if the process will be done completely, is there a chance for the black screen will be still there? i am a little nervous, not scared as the first time, but if the process dont work, is there any chance to repair it through samsung with some costs?

Hey there buddy.
I can see that you are really concerned about messing things up. But really, don't worry. It has some down falls, but flashing with Odin is might safe. And as was earlier recommended, you can try flashing to either JM6 or JM7. Both are very stable releases. Here are a couple of links, one for the JM6 and the other for JM7. Trust me when I say this, IT WILL BE ALL RIGHT.....
JM6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765032
JM7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770821
This is another link to a brilliant post by Darkstriker. This is a well thought of FAQ's. It will guide you properly. Follow instructions to the letter and you will be all right.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
It would also be a good idea to do a factory data reset after you are done flashing.
Take the plunge buddy. Be cool.....
Cheers....
Whoops.... Almost forgot. This is a link provided by Darkstriker in his FAQ. This is a faster website to download from. Let me give you direct links to the JM6 and the JM7 and the Odin and PIT files.
JM6
JM7
Odin And PIT File: https://www.wuala.com/Samsung Galax...Odin & Bootloader(.PIT)/Old/?key=AfzUZSU4SpKU
You will need both the files listed on the linked page (Odin and PIT File)
Plus you will also need the CSC files. Choose the correct one from the link below after finding the relevant info from the JM6 and JM7 links. If still in doubt, ask away.
CSC: https://www.wuala.com/Samsung Galax...C fo XWJM6, XFJM6 and XWJM7/?key=AfzUZSU4SpKU

No problem. Will try and walk you through this.
After you have downloaded either of the JM6 or the JM7, and you have extracted the files, you will see the PDA and the modem files. You will also have to download the relevant CSC file that is specific to your region. Also, make sure that Odin and the PIT files have been downloaded.
Let me give you simple steps to work your way through.
1. Make sure Samsung Kies is NOT RUNNING including in the notification area.
2. Disconnect your phone and switch it off.
3. Start Odin
4. Make sure the three options, "Re-Partition", "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" are TICKED
5. Click on the "PIT" button and select the "s1_odin_20100512" file you downloaded.
6. Put your phone into download mode by using the key combination: POWER DOWN + HOME KEY + POWER KEY. When you see the yellow triangle, release all buttons.
7. Connect your phone and wait for the drivers to get installed.
8. Click on the "Start" button and wait for the process to finish. This will be indicated by the words "PASS" with a green background. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE TILL YOU SEE THE WORDS "PASS"
9. Remove the battery and put the phone into download mode again. (Step 6)
10. In Odin, click the "Reset" button and UNCHECK the "Re-Partition" option and keep the remaining two options CHECKED.
11. Click the "PDA" button and select the file starting with "CODE"
12. Click the "PHONE" button and select the file starting with "MODEM"
13. Click the "CSC" button and select the CSC file which you have chosen. (NOTE: You will have to extract the file from the CSC package you have downloaded and not the actual archive)
14. Connect the phone
15. Click on the "START" button and wait till Odin finishes its process. Again, DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE TILL ODIN DISPLAYS THE "PASS" MESSAGE!!!!
16. If you are using Multi CSC, follow the instructions from any of the posts for JM6 and JM7: "When using *Multi CSC* you need to type *#272*????# after the flash (in dialer). ???? being the current time displayed by phone. For example if the time is currently 6.25pm you need to type *#272*0625#. Then select the desired CSC version from the list and press "Install"."
You should be fine once these steps are done. They might seem very difficult at first glance, but they really aren't. If you still feel concerned about the process, I would suggest reading the entire post again just to familiarize yourself with the process. I was trembling the first time I did this and it turned out perfectly all right in the end. I am sure it will be the same for you.
Cheers....

Hello again community. I am writing now from my SGS. Wonder how? (I did not the reflash) I don't know, the phone just booted up this morning. I have no idea how but now I will try to not reboot my phone. I think the logo is broken and the factory reset worked.
I still have the MCR app, but the Quadrant scores around 870, so I am no longer rooted.
Thanks all, I surely will need your help sometime... I consider the rooting now not so scary because I understanded that I can not break my phone completely. I will update to Froyo when it will be official and I hope the problem is not any longer in my phone.
Cheers!
Edit: I found a folder in the internal sdcard named ase that has 2 subfolders. In «resources» folder there are 2 files: playlogos1 which is 0 kilos large and userinit.sh, also with 0 kilos. If I am right this is the reason which stopped my phone to boot. What to do with them?

Relax bro.. You'll live longer
So I am finally in front of my PC, but I don't know if when I will reboot my phone it will work. I have the superuser/MCR and the scripts still in my phone and I don't know what to do. I don't really understand why the playlogo1 and userinit.sh files have 0 kB and they are on my sdcard. I think they have something to do with this. That's why I am afraid of rebooting it... but sometime I will need it and I hope I will not have the problem. Also, if I will reflash my phone with JM6 or JM7, which lag fix do you recommend for me? (The phone sometimes really annoys me)
Thanks in advance...!

Bricked SGSII Tmobile

Hey guys some help I bricked the SGSII t989 tmobile and it has the yellow triangle pops up telling me to go to Kies and recover it. I feel really bad now and am downgraded to a google voice and gmail, going to get a G1 tommorrow from a friend.
Any chance someone could post the original firmware zImage md5 so I could flash it back? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm going to try to get some sleep.
Thank you very much for any help and assistance.
A second question - how to get back into download mode I can't access adb and the home/volumedown/power does not work.
EDIT: I just realized that nobody has pulled the zimage yet, in that case there is no smiley appropriate for the moment.
Both hold volumedown and volumeup ,then conect it to your computert with data line。

Why would you use the .TAR file from another Galaxy S II Variant? The other galaxy S II devices have different processors and are running different versions of android and if you go look at the Kernel version on the T-Mobile Galaxy S II its just a number EX: (2.6.35.11) as opposed to a sequence of numbers and letters. You will have to wait till there is a way to root the Galaxy S II for T-Mobile if holding the up and down volume keys and Plugging up to the computer does not work.
Dude. Why would you do something so dumb. The only thing this version shares with other GS2's is the screen.

ever heard of "trial and error"? haha
If you would have read the [DEV] root forum, you could have known better.

How is that trial and error? Everyone knew from day 1 those exploits wouldn't work... Seemed obvious to me at least.
As far as the op goes, take it back to Tmobile and play dumb. Don't say a thing about flashing, hopefully they'll replace it.
If not, boned till we get root and someone can compile a flashable stock ROM for you.

Hey doods its all good Tmobile gave me a new one said this is a one time thing.. I go hardcore on my devices. Though when an original zimage comes out I'll edit my top post and add download so this thread could be useful for someone else.
Thanks for your replies.

Thanks for this, worked perfect. First time using the new odin format. Dont freak out if the AP slot takes a minute or 2, my odin said not responding, just give it a chance to load.
THANK YOU!!!
I was messing around (not really 100% knowing what I am doing) and (soft?)bricked my phone. I was really bummed because I thought I had it. Anyway, I was able to recover it thanks to you. Appreciate it.
Thanks

Thank you. I am a noob and tried to root my phone from theunlockr but its for 5.1.1 and I got that "seandroid error". This fixed my phone without the long 14 hour download. Thanks again

I love my Note - Trying to get back to 5.1.1

I love my Note 4 so much that I tried for about 2 weeks to fix it's constant rebooting issue. Went to ATT & Samsung repair center and they couldn't get it to flash. However, it stills turns on, I just generally need to pull the battery for a few minutes to get it to boot.
With that said, I'm not incredibly knowledgeable in this area. I've downloaded ODIN and found lots of resources for the exact steps to follow, however, I'm not sure where I can locate a version of 5.1.1 for ATT. To me, this seems like my only fix for my phone. I've tried clearing cache and factory resets etc. My phone is unlocked. Am I missing anything that you can think of? Can someone link me to a reputable source for the appropriate files?
You seriously cannot imagine how happy I'd be if I can get this thing working again. Thank you!
PS, if you think there is a more stable version than 5.1.1, I'm open to that too.
Bump. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What is your Baseband? Maybe you can't go back.
Heya guys.
Thank you for the link! I seriously googled and browsed forums for days looking for it. I even went to the Android website with a slew of different version but they did not have the ATT versions. Anyway, I'm going to give this a go but still pretty green to it. I was going to follow the instructions from this post - should work right? https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-att/general/expert-phone-trashed-t3573110
And Norbarb, I have no idea what my Baseband version is. I did a quick google to see if I can locate it somewhere but couldn't figure it out. How can I check?
I do appreciate your help.

Can you reboot to recovery?? There's some info there regarding your current setup
Ironically, now I can't even get the phone to turn on. I bought a battery charger for the Note battery to see if that is the issue. I can't get the battery to charge even when it's plugged in. That arrives Monday so I'll update shortly.
Quick update:
Baseband is N910AUCS2EPK3. I'm not sure if that means I can or can't roll back to Lollipop.
Popped in the charged battery from my new charger and it came right on. Had it on for a little bit just messing around with things. After rebooting it myself a few times, it now is reverting back to it not even turning on, even with a charged battery. I pull the battery 10-20 times, hold the power button without the battery to clearly out any remaining electricity and still no go. I have 2 batteries and neither work. So I'm going to let it sit and if I can get it to come on, install Wake Lock.
Does anyone know if I can revert back to 5.1? I'm not sure how my Baseband effects that. Thank you for all of your help! If I can't get this, I think I may go back to my S3 vs a Pixel.

If you have this, you can easily go to Odin and flash 5.1.1. I don't have the link to the LP Odin files, but heres the Odin link for the MM files in OP:
ODIN FILES to get back to EPH5 and latest ODIN
ODIN
Marshmallow full odin file thanks to @mmaku
EPH5 ODIN FILE
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...hmellow-att-server-link-installation-t3407308
Make sure you can be able to stay in Bootloader for a while before you attempt this, because if your phone dies before the Odin flash completes, you probably likely just created a brick.
Here's my How-To in that same thread. I've also used the newest Odin available with same good results.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68620446&postcount=1180
In fact, I'm about to reflash back to 5.1.1 again from latest updates. MM is pissing me off on that battery issue again. I just wish I can keep it there and keep ATT from pushing OTA without me agreeing to it.

Holy crap, awesome man. Thank you. At this point, I can't even get the phone to turn on with 2 different batteries. Tried holding the power button down for awhile and letting it sit for hours and still nothing. Not sure what the deal is with this thing. I'll keep attempting.

Try holding power button, home button and volume up all at the same time while its powered off. If you can get to Recovery screen here, then you just may be getting somewhere. I would then wipe data/factory reset, then reboot again. If this doesn't work, you can then try holding power botton, home button and Volume down at the same time. This gets you in bootloader mode. Once you get there, only way out at this point is pulling battery (to start over) or get started on Odin flashing.
At least I have kept OTA from working, with this debloater from this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294

Thanks. Yea i can't get into recovery or the download mode. I bought a battery charger just thinking my phone wasn't charging them. The first time it started up perfect. Now I can't get it to come up at all. As mentioned, I'll keep trying. Wondering if something else has gone wrong, or if it's software related still.

Got the phone to turn back on. Quick question. In your post, you mention 4 ODIN files. I only have an MD5 file and a PT file. Is there something I'm missing? I downloaded the stock rom from the top of my post. Thank you!

There should be a zip in here that you have to extract four files to a folder. You will use the Odin exe program to look for those files. Just follow my howto notes I wrote in the link I posted. This is to the Marshmallow stuff. Forget the MD5 and pit file unless you know what you are doing. Since I don't know where that came from, I won't even suggest those 2.

Ironically I'm looking to get rid of Marshmallow because I think 6.0.1 screwed up my phone. It was working great prior to that. So the LP files I have are the MD5 and pit, supplied in the 3rd post. Is there somewhere I should look for LP files? And to be clear, are there "regular" rom files for general use, and then ODIN specific files? ie, you could have a "regular" 5.1.1 file, and then ODIN specific 5.1.1?

With the mess you have, I would think you want to Odin flash a whole new setup. You don't know what's wrong and a partition could be corrupted. If it's hardware, nothing you really could do about it anyways

Got it. I looked around and cannot find the files for ATT. I see them for others I think, but ATT is a ghost. Would you mind uploading if you can? If not I understand. I appreciate all of your help! Crossing my fingers that my Note 4 is still alive and well.
