first, look at this
check this out if you need drivers.
adb will be located in a subfolder called /tools or /platform-tools/

Okay. So I'm assuming you the SDK files installed right? Your using windows? Go to the SDK folder and look in "tools" you should see "adb.exe" and "AdbWinApi.dll" and if you don't then that is what you are missing. I'm uploading those right now. Please thank if worked .
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LVBAZ080
And simple extract the files and paste them to the "C:\android-sdk-windows\tools" tools folder. OH yeah and also take the two extracted files and copy them to your "systems32" folder in "C: \Windows\system32" after that run "cmd.exe" and run the adb shell and enter adb devices and you should see your phone

I've just spent about 8 hours trying to get Ubuntu installed on my slowly failing PC (I was on xp so decided change was needed).
I finally did it, now I'm getting "Archive type not supported" when trying to open the 7z file.
I downloaded the Linux version of Flashtool so how do I install it? I can't get my internet dongle to work (there's another thread if Google doesn't help) so either how do I open it or what's a good 7z file opener?

I'd slap myself if I could be bothered. I'd like to blame that on alcohol but I doubt being sober would have made much difference.
I'm on the Software Centre bit, it looks like it needs downloading. Connecting to the internet is on my to-Google list. I downloaded a p7zip thing to my phone, copied to PC, but I don't know how to install it. I've unzipped it, that's as far as I got.

Those udev rules appear in the Flashtool installation site. And certainly "udev rules Android Ubuntu 11.10" will get you good results in Google.
By the way, you'll be thankful for command lines once you need to do something a bit adventurous. They'll save you untold amounts of time

What do you call the file?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
99-android.rules would be the name, and the folder would be "/etc/udev/rules.d". You need superuser permissions in your Linux installation to edit something there.
User friendly way: enter terminal and type:
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/99-android.rules
[insert the proper rules and save the file]
sudo restart udev
And that should make the trick with the udev rules.
XPlay-Swype
Thanks. I could open Flashtool yesterday; today I get Permission denied.

The point of making this is ODIN is only built for windows HEIMDALL ( IMO IS superior) and is cross platform compatible
I have two versions and they all come with TWRP recovery(also superior imo)
if someone wants a full stock/wo root let me know but I created these to make it easy to flash other roms.
Or if you just want Heimdall files tars let me know.

Cygwin should be on the root of C:\
If it is, try in terminal
Code:
cd c:\cygwin\home\"yourname"\android-kitchen-0.224
Then your terminal should read that u are in that directory. Then press ./menu and it should work

Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
Exactly what it sounds like, make sure the paths are set correctly in the variables, one of the biggest issues when running kitchen. wow, setting everything up was a bit harder than actually using the program, you'll get it...hang in there...

Make sure you go to the Java website and install the correct version (believe it had to be 32bit Java for Kitchen to work and sign roms correctly).
That was one of my problems.
But im having other problems now.
I zipalign and sign my rom, then make it into a working zip, but whenever I try to flash it does not, I dont think the Kitchen is producing the right rom files (I.e. Meta Data Inf, System, etc.)
Anyone got some input?
Do I have to mod something in the Kitchen for it to work with S4 Roms?
