I got my Vodafone (Germany) Branded HTC Desire HD today.
Software information:
Android-Version: 2.2
Baseband-Version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel-Version: 2.6.32.21-gf3f553d [email protected] #1 Thu Oct 28 13:24:11 CST 2010
Build-Number: 1.39.161.1 CL278886 release keys
Software-Number: 1.39.161.1
There's also a System Update to 1.75.161.2_R available, which did not install because I know that there is no root, S-off, ... for stock RUU 1.72.405.3 yet and i don't know on what my branded update is based on.
Some questions:
1. As there seems no RUU available that matches my software version, i want to make a (image based) backup before i root, s-off, install clockwork and all the other things. Is this possible? If yes, how?
2. I had a Desire Z before. The Guide in the wiki: Rooting the Vision (G2/DZ) and DHD recommends not to use Visionary, but temproot with Rage and then use gfree (i used this guide for the Desire Z). All guides i found in the DHD Forum use Visionary. So how should i root, s-off best way?
3. Before I maybe try other Custom ROMs, i first want to try the unbranded stock ROM (i think i should choose RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26 .03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed, right?) Can i just flash this on my branded DHD (after backup, see 1.,) or what i have to do first?
I have the same question
I've pmed Bierfreund but I could not wait for his reply even when I think that he'll be kind enough and post the answers once he read my pms
I m answering on the Qs here is case someone from Germany or UK got the same version of the software and Google "1.39.161.1"
-I could not find any RUU for this version, let's wait for Bierfreund to see if he could use the 1.32.405.6 RUU to restore the stock ROM
-I managed to root the device the same way we usually root 1.32
-I haven't tried S-OFF yet
-I did not manage to create a backup and tbh I don't know how to do that, but IMO if I someone is kind enough to explain to me how to do it now it would not be difficult to restore the device to the factory defaults and get the warranty back. All I need to do is to unroot and uninstall VISIONary
I found no RUU with german vodafone branding, i did the following (no real solution and no guarantee if it works):
- Rooted Vodafone Branded Desire HD
- Did S-off
- installed clockwork mod
- did a nandroid backup with clockwork mod of the vodafone branded backup
(separate guides of all this are available). I case i need the branded software again ( i don't hope so) i plan to do the following:
- Restore (nandroid) vodafone branded software
- remove clockwork mod
- unroot and s-on
- factory reset

Hello
I am about to sell my desire and would like to get it back to a non modified unrooted state (ill just leave alone my S-OFF if possible), so that when i sell it, it will be able to install OTA updates and such.
Also i would like to get the original recovery back.
Before i modded it it was unbranded, so no rebranding needed.
Thanks in advance
This tutorial should help:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-unroot-the-htc-desire/
And as far as I know (never tried it tough) it will revert back also to S-ON.
okay i tried doing this, but the installer throw a error 140 says BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR.
My bootloader says BRAVO UNKNOWN SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.75.0000
The updater says from
Version:
1.21.405.2
To
Version
1.15.405.3
so prob i need a newer installer but where do i find that?
Use this, those are very old Android 2.1 versions...

Hi All
I'm new to the forums today and have been reading up on Debranding my Handset as well as changing the CID.
I'm hoping one of you more experienced guys out there can clarify the inderstanding of a total noob here i.e. me.
Essentially I want to Debrand a Vfone DHD running 2.2.1 and simply flash the latest 2.2.1 Unbranded equivalent (HTC) My understanding however is that in order to install OTA updates without leaving a gold card in place I need to set the CID to HTC_001? So to do this I believe I need to:
(1) Downgrade to 2.2 using Gold Card Method
(2) Install Visionary and Root the Phone
(3) Use 'one Click' radio S-Off tool to set s-off
Here's where I need a little help.....
How do I change the CID to 'HTC__001' set radio S-ON and then flash the Unbranded 2.2.1 ROM?
Is it merely a case of using the tool ‘One Click Tool’ to do Stock CID and S-ON and then Unroot the Phone before reflashing Android 2.2.1 (unbranded) using the Gold Card method again? Or is there an easier solution?
I am essentially trying to obtain an Unbranded 2.2.1 CID HTC_001, Radio S-ON Phone.
Cheers

The radio s-off tool will give you superCID (11111) this means you can apply any generic or branded update

Thanks for that. One last quick question if that's ok. If I downgrade to Unbranded HTC_WWE_1.32.405.3_R-1.28.405.1_R2_releasef3xogq2juqkgt3v5 how do I then re-upgrade to 1.72....unbranded? Will I be able to do this by searching for an OTA upgrade using the Phone or do I need to flash another rom manaually.
Thamks again
I have a HTC Desire Z from the Asia Middle East region with the following specs:
Android version:2.2
Kernal version:2.6.32.21-
Build Version and software version:1.83.415.2
Is there a way to get to CM7 i.e to downgrade/root this phone.
Thanks
Downgrade to 1.34, then root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
Pretty sure there are others here on the same ROM as you, that have done it this way successfully.
There's a couple ways to do it, the best way would be to follow the root method in the wiki using rage then get S-OFF with gfree.
Once you have rooted it, install Rom Manager and flash clockwork then download this zip and flash it to get a working Superuser.
Edit: You may have to downgrade to get S-OFF, I bought a NAM Desire Z and had to downgrade then flashed the ARA RUU.
Not able to downgrade
Thanks for guiding me
I followed the wiki guide correctly upto all the steps until....The downgrading part
And I am Stuck in the Downgrading process i.e Phone thinks the PC10IMG.Zip file is not a valid file in the boot loader menu and restarts to normal ,
Could this be due to this version(1.83)???
What do I do now!??

Did you make the gold card first?
Guide Here.
Anyways, it seems your Desire Z has a unique CID probably put on it by a manufacturer. All you have to do is make a gold card then you can downgrade with the gold card inside the phone.
Hi,
Quick question hoping you can help with.
I have S-OFF (Previously Rooted) and recently installed the latest Gingerbread 2.50 WWE RUU (with a Goldcard).
Does the S-OFF mean I can install a customer ROM without having Root?
Is it possible to change the CID? I have a Vodafone UK CID so don't get OTA. (OK, its a second question! Couldn't resist!).
And Finally (really this is the final one!), I can't find instructions to revert my phone to original state, i.e. re-branded to Vodafone UK with S-ON for warranty. Can you point me in the right direction, please?
Thanks in advance...
Kiz
With s-off and goldcard already in hand, you may downgrade it to stock 2.36.405.8 to gingerbreak or simply 1.32.405.6 and then flash any custom rom that comes across your mind. Your cid can be changed it the Oneclick Radio Tool.
To return to stock vodafone branded rom, just read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920876&highlight=vodafone+original+img
If I'm not mistaken, S-On can be applied just as normal DHD should. Please do make reference to the stickies in Android Dev section.

Hey All,
Hopefully I'm not totally recovering ground someone has already asked about. But I had a query and I couldn't post under the thread I wanted to ask the question in.
A while back I created a gold card and put the WWE stock RUU on my phone (unbranded my Vodafone AU DHD). I'm still running the stock RUU Android 2.2, I never updated to 2.3. Due to a possible warranty issue coming up, I was thinking I should probably change it back to the Vodafone image. I can't find a Vodafone AU RUU installer for the DHD.
I have been looking at this guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920876
It seems pretty comprehensive, but I'm just wondering if it's the right guide I should be following. The only reason I ask is I have not rooted my phone or installed a custom ROM. All I've done is un-brand the phone with the Stock ROM and a gold card.
Looking in the boot loader it says:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.85.0007
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Under Software info it says:
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Software number: 1.32.405.6
Is there another way to install the Vodafone ROM or do I need to use Clockwork Mod? And do I need my phone rooted to do this (I've never used Clockwork)? Just want to easiest way to go back to the Vodafone ROM
Thanks in advance and sorry if I'm going over old territory.
You are on the right guide basically looks like you will need to have clockworkmod to get stock vodafone back.
