Hi guys,
I've found (and tried) virtually every free flashlight app in the market. While most of them do work with the Defy, none of them initiate the LED light anywhere nearly as brightly as the Camcorder app does when the video light is on.
Does anyone know where I can find an app that'll use the Defy LED to its full power?
extended controls has that function.
Yo,
I've got the same issue.
I found Mag Flashlight and it works on my Motorola Defy
Flashlight Zaphrox works for me.

Install Widgetsoid and you can add a bright flashlight alongside other stuff similar to the existing power control thing (but customisable).

$1m reward for information leading to turning off the lights in the home/menu/back/search buttons. They waste power and more important when I read at night with low light red render, the bright button lights are blinding.
Hmm. It depends in the rom you are using.
If it is a cyanogen kind rom you simply change the settings.
Kind regards Holger.

SUPERB!!!!
For so long I have been wondering could I switch off the softkey lights while watching media. It's a waste of battery and not needed.
Watching a TV show with 3 bright lights lit up on the phone. argh... I use this app now to keep brightness for screen at 100% but just to turn off annoying button lights while watching movie etc.
Nice.
Thanks Artukas

I experience and read of the unreliable and slow blinking LED notification light.
In my case, it will work about 50% of the time. I am hoping somebody in this community is looking it over.
It would be nice if were more reliable and at least blink faster.
What application do you use to manage your notification light colors?

^ Install that. It takes a bit to customize just how you want it, but it runs flawlessly.
There's a free version floating around on the market, but it's well worth the $1-2 or whatever it is now.

Yep, this is what I use and it works very well. Set the blink rate to very fast (very nice rate), ans buy the full version, as you can set lights for social apps too.
I was looking at light flow but holy cow the permissions it wants gives me pause.
Is all that necessary?
Well, if others are saying they've used it for a bit it's likely ok. But I would assume it needs all the extra permissions because it needs to collect data from them to light the LED. Can't light the LED on a new SMS if you don't know there is a new SMS.
Aokp has led customization built into the rom.

Poor poor me cannot find a dark theme where they show screen shots of the messaging apps. They all seem to show every possible screen but those.
I am looking for reversed messaging app skins. white/gray/red (I don't care) text with BLACK backgrounds.
I do surveillance work. I need this.
And none of us want to break the law and text or read a message while driving but why wave a flag!

I have lightflow too it work good on the stock Verizon with free and paid version. But I have tried AOKP no luck. The MODAC rom has special script to work with trackball alert app led notifications. I wish app light flow would have support scripts.

I use LightFlow also, but I have the blink rate set to Always On. According to the developer, this saves battery because code has to run every time it blinks. Not sure if this applies to the Galaxy Nexus.

Hi guys, there's a new eye tracking application that works with HTC ONE X.
Its called Smart Stay, from a developer here in XDA as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708012
The first version didn't work for HTC ONE X but the latest version works well.
The developer is really responsive, I've sent him a few messages already hopefully to improve the application. and yes, you can use the camera when its running.
There's another one, from another dev here its called ISEEYOU.
It works somehow, but you cant use the camera when the program is active. Hopefully it will be fixed in the future version.
Not working for me...

Did you try it?
OP thread says it doesnt support the ONE X, but Im the one who did the testing on the HTC ONE X and got in touch with the developer.
Be sure to download the latest version the one that works, the previous one didn't work.
Also, be sure to turn off your auto brightness setting (not sure if there's an effect but just in case).
Also, when you go to the prograrm, click "turn on", then exit the program, turn off your screen and turn it back on. Now it should work.
BTW, in case you guys were wondering..
Working for me...
ROM: RD MiUI
Kernel: Franco R9
I tried and its working. The problem is the distance control but it will be fixed in the next release.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Just installed and tested it and it seems to work well for me.
Distance needed for it to work might need tweaked but the dev seems to be working on that so should be good.
It works on the One X, the new version changelog sorta confirms it.
But distance indeed seems to be the tricky part. ISeeYou does that part better, but the version 1.2 doesn't work on the One X. So, still Smart Stay is the better now
And also: Smart Stay doesn't break Face Unlock function, ISeeYou does!
new version is out!
with low light support
trying it now..

Dont work for me
The Eye Symbol in the Statusbar switched into a eyelash but the Display turn off!
Edit:
OK Guys just restart my Phone and start the Camera and Exit the Camera then it works! The Symbol switched in the eyelash Symbol when the App dont detect your Eyes.
It works but not as well, i hold the phone 30-40 cm from the Face
nice
it's work for me.....
:good::good::good::good::good::good:
This app does work perfectly, works in low light too.
In regards to the above comments, the eyelash notification indicates that it can't track your eyes so it should turn off then.
Only problem is using this has been putting camera into wakelock so it can keep tracking and killing my battery within half a day.
Great concept and fun to show off but not so good if you want to be able to use your phone throughout the day
Looking for the best led control app available. Having the notification led back was one of the biggest wins on this phone for me (having come from a skyrocket 2 days ago). not having a notification led has been bugging me since I came from blackberry. I had an app on my bold that could make calls, texts, and emails different colors, combinations or patterns. Would like this app to make the led flash while ringing too, not just a missed call.

Another option that you got is to flash an CM10 or or PA Hybrid ROM, it has a built-in seetting for Led Control, it works flawlessly.
Cheers!
theres also light manager. I believe the dev built it specifically for the GS3.

Tried that one, and it was derped on US S3. I tested the miss call, and it did show the color, however, the light would not go away afterwards(even after clearing the call, disabling the app, and even uninstalling the app)
Lightflow so far has worked pretty well(the one for rooted phones)
I am using light flow. I did not need the pro features but the dev deserves money for the supprt he provides

Light Flow is def a great app. Provides plenty of customization and if needed the pro version provides LED notifications for many different apps from the Play store.
None of these can have the led on when screen is on or incoming call.

Where did you get the rooted version of LightFlow? Just download the market version and it will ask for root? I don't see any of those details on the blog by the author.... just see where he said he's been messing with the root version, not posting it for download, do you have a link to it somewhere?
Unless you mean the Lite version, where he states this:
....the S3 USA versions have some issues unless your phone is "rooted" (See our website for more details)....

Definitely looking for the full version for my rooted SIII if you know anything about that! Will pay for it, just to be clear, but need the full version, not just the lite one....
Full version of light flow has the ability to be used in rooted mode. Works well here. No issues.

the latest lightflow version is causing wake locks and preventing the phone from going into deep sleep
the LED controls in the ROMs is nice but kinda sucks as it doesnt cycle thru the lights... meaning if i have a missed call (red), voice mail (purple) and a SMS (blue) only my red light will only flash... will not cycle thru meaning with lightflow, it would flash red, then purple, then blue... the built in one in the ROMs will only show red...
just an fyi
search for light manager great led control and no wakelocks.
Can anyone here please port or modify the apk available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339564 to make it work with Moto G or any other non HTC device?

Thanks mate for your input; but the look and feel of the app is just aweful and permissions it requires to run the flashlight are too much for a flashlight app.
You're welcome. I agree that It doesn't look as cool as htc flashlight. However it only needs camera permission which is necessary for any flashlight app. I will contact motorola if they could update the looks of their app.
