Hi guys, there's a new eye tracking application that works with HTC ONE X.
Its called Smart Stay, from a developer here in XDA as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708012
The first version didn't work for HTC ONE X but the latest version works well.
The developer is really responsive, I've sent him a few messages already hopefully to improve the application. and yes, you can use the camera when its running.
There's another one, from another dev here its called ISEEYOU.
It works somehow, but you cant use the camera when the program is active. Hopefully it will be fixed in the future version.
Not working for me...

Did you try it?
OP thread says it doesnt support the ONE X, but Im the one who did the testing on the HTC ONE X and got in touch with the developer.
Be sure to download the latest version the one that works, the previous one didn't work.
Also, be sure to turn off your auto brightness setting (not sure if there's an effect but just in case).
Also, when you go to the prograrm, click "turn on", then exit the program, turn off your screen and turn it back on. Now it should work.
BTW, in case you guys were wondering..
Working for me...
ROM: RD MiUI
Kernel: Franco R9
I tried and its working. The problem is the distance control but it will be fixed in the next release.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Just installed and tested it and it seems to work well for me.
Distance needed for it to work might need tweaked but the dev seems to be working on that so should be good.
It works on the One X, the new version changelog sorta confirms it.
But distance indeed seems to be the tricky part. ISeeYou does that part better, but the version 1.2 doesn't work on the One X. So, still Smart Stay is the better now
And also: Smart Stay doesn't break Face Unlock function, ISeeYou does!
new version is out!
with low light support
trying it now..

Works on mine
Dont work for me
The Eye Symbol in the Statusbar switched into a eyelash but the Display turn off!
Edit:
OK Guys just restart my Phone and start the Camera and Exit the Camera then it works! The Symbol switched in the eyelash Symbol when the App dont detect your Eyes.
It works but not as well, i hold the phone 30-40 cm from the Face
nice
it's work for me.....
:good::good::good::good::good::good:
This app does work perfectly, works in low light too.
In regards to the above comments, the eyelash notification indicates that it can't track your eyes so it should turn off then.
Only problem is using this has been putting camera into wakelock so it can keep tracking and killing my battery within half a day.
Great concept and fun to show off but not so good if you want to be able to use your phone throughout the day

I have searched.
Anyway, I am just looking for a camera app that has touch to focus. I can't seem to find one on the market. Anything will work really, as long as it doesn't require root or anything in that matter. Is there one?
look on the market for xperia play camera mod, lets you use the L button for focus and R button for taking a picture.
I have that, not exactly what I'm looking for. I want to be able to touch the area I want to be focused. Thanks though

I'd love that option too. My dad's xperia neo can do that, why the hell the play wont?
It's such a nice option and gives a lot more flexibility to compose better pictures.
I know right?
I'll have to keep looking around..
Anyone else?
Please post when/if you find one. I've not encountered one yet and i've tried quite a few camera apps from Market.
Regards Dousan...
Try fast burst camera. There's an icon in app where you have to tap and do manual focusing first before shooting.. Good for sports shots too, this is what i'm using to capture some skateboard tricks of my friends..
I haven't given up yet...still looking.
EDIT: I found one! It's called Camera360 Ultimate(I think the free version will work too).
To enable the Touch to Focus:
Press the settings(the gear) in the upper right hand corner>Favorite Settings Tab>In the first drop down box, select "Press to focus, and click shooting button..."
Yes,camera360 can make it.But it locked some functions until you pay for it or you had use a China Telecommunications operator.....

What now? I am confused at what you are trying to say...
long distance shooting? not so long distance shooting with the subject alone is the sharp one? or you want some bokeh shots?
just buy a decent SLR cam..

Just want to make sure, it will focus where you touch right? Because otherwise it'll just be like the [amazing] app that focus with L and shoots with R, which is easier to handle.

Yes, where ever you touch. Just try the free version, if you are unsure.
i just bought a htc one x (sh 26 model) i am facing a very different issue. when i take a picture, the brightness gradually reduces when i view it. then when i close the camera app, brightness returns bak to the original level.. why does the brightness gradually reduces wen viewing a pic which has been JUST TAKEN? any solution.. p.s. i am still on 1.28
When you open your camera app it automatically goes to full brightness, then goes back to how you had it before when you exit the app. That's how it's supposed to be so don't worry your phones not faulty

Could try Brick Kernel I believe it has a Swipe2wake feature. It works by by swiping across the screen, nt tried it myself (if i'm wrong please feel free to correct me)
i have disabled auto sync but still i receieve my facebook notifications, what to do about that? also i am having bad battery life. playing temple run for 5 mins takes up 6 percent at minimum brightness and all other things turned off. this is my first charge cycle
Can anyone please help me a bit please.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Inside Facebook like on newsfeed page, press menue button and there untick Notifications...otherwise you are bombarded, of course depending on the activity of your friends
Now you can leave the Facebook sync active
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
First thing disable the fastbbot option...settings/power I think
Then untick under Sound the three options under Incoming Calls...silent when turning done over ect...and louder ring in pocket...useless options but the sensors will eat up juice...
Then check your sync settings for each account...mail app is great with the smartsync option for different accounts like your gmail and exchange, fb doesn't need more than once an hour, better even more. Weather like every three hours ext....get a battery check app like Battery Monitor App to see how your usage is during the day...and lastly, unlock your HOX via HTC Dev, root it, put CWM on it and flash one of the awesome Sense custom ROMs...amazing develeoping going on there
BTW...the screen is sucking up juice anyways, and with playing intensive games even more...I don't play really so can't help you there...oh and unlocking voids your warranty with HTC...nothing's for free...but it is well worth it!
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I don't have the warranty. I don't care about the warranty. Today is my third charge cycle and now its preety good. Screen on for 2:32 mins and still 30% left. How's that? Good or bad. I don't wanna install the custom Rom today but I am gonna root it though. How can I save up more battery with a rooted HOX?

Try posting in one of the other battery threads. 3 hours screen on time seems.normal, depending on brightness level.
I would suggest installing the latest ARHD ROM (Android Revolution HD) by Mike. It uses the latest 2.15.401.5 base which is supposed to increase battery life and performance quite significantly.
what is the latest OTA version? my one says 1.29.161.13. i wanted to install Rosie Launcher but here it says : 1.29.401.xx http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656201
there are no software version available for my device yet. till 18th august
Can anyone please shed some light on my question please.

If you don't have a notification saying there is an update available, there is not an update available for you. Simples, huh?
Hi, i'm having this screen turn off while calling n doesn't on constantly even if I try to turn on using power switch.. n for some days it worked like screen turns off when I keep close to ear n turns on automatically when moved away, I can understand due to proximity sensor. But y now it isn't working? Is thr any settings?
Cool....)
Do you have a case or screen protector blocking the sensor? If not, the sensor might be broken.

Thank you but i tried it and i need a special kernel
I love the new feature from new Google-Motorola phone "Moto X". The new "Silent Lockscreen Notification" feature is so neat, nice, useful...
I just love it
Unfortunately I am not a developer, so I don't have the skills to port it to our HOX but, wouldn't it be a great feature to have?
Youtube /watch?v=lbGmfk8yaZU, sorry i am not allowed to post external links as a newbie in XDA
The lockscreen feature is presented at 2 minute 30s mark.
:fingers-crossed:
What do you think? Would you like to see this feature in your Custom ROM?
Cheers
Active display
Better example of this awesome feature review

Not totally useless, only a bit more power consuming because the whole display would have to be activated instead only of part of it.
But screen would only glow in intervals (you could slow down the interval) when new notification arrives and when you take it out of pocket or flip it downside up with use of proximity sensor.
Bu yes, i agree, our battery is already a bit week.. :/
Seems pretty neat
Porting it to sense is impossible duo to sense framework work.
How ever its possible to port it to aosp if the necessary sources are out....
IMO its useless because its a battery sucker

there is an app called NoLED from the play store that does something somewhat similar. its not the same thing but it does give you a floating notification on the screen and tells you what app its from.
And yeah, LCD screens will use more power and will prevent the phone from properly sleeping. You can tune it to only turn on the screen if you flip it over.
Or you can use Active Notifications,it's verry verry similar to the Moto X:

Posted without reading the app description. When this app came out it only worked on 4.3 devices but now it works on the One X. Best to use with Low brightness.
Or you can create a Tasker profile that will make your screen pulse every few minutes until you dismiss the notification...

But mabey on sens rom to. But thit not test that

Any pics on what it looks like when up and running?
Since we don't have super AMOLED, wouldn't this be a huge battery drain?

not realy screen is on for a 10 or 15 sec.
this is how it looks like. When you push the icon of the notification you see from it is
The whole screen would light up as black instead of being off like Amoled. I don't think LCD's can take full advantage of this feature
I think notifierpro is the best app for this task. The free lite version works awesome.
All they need is a setting to set a timeout. I use KnockĀ² currently and its set to 30seconds. I use it mainly at work to see if a message is worth grabbing my phone for.

He needs to change his target API to hide it from those not 4.3

It can, the battery drain is significantly higher than an AMOLED screen.
I'm fine with keeping the extra battery life and having the LED. (Dashclock helps on the lock screen).
The Moto X benefits the most by far from this because of a few reasons.
1.) Contextual low-power processor
2.) AMOLED screen
3.) It doesn't have a notification LED to begin with.
i think it is what you personal perfer or like. I thougt nice app let's share. For those ho want it.
Just had a training for my Samsung care point to maintain my license. And had the same explanation of diferents beteween AMOLED, Super AMOLED and LCD.
I hope to get a re traing for HTC to.
I have installed it on my viper Rom. Works perfect. But then I am getting force closes error on gmail. When I disable it. Gmail works fine. But when I enable it. It gives me force close error. Any solution?
