[Q] SILENT LOCKSCREEN (feature from Moto x) - HTC One X

I love the new feature from new Google-Motorola phone "Moto X". The new "Silent Lockscreen Notification" feature is so neat, nice, useful...
I just love it
Unfortunately I am not a developer, so I don't have the skills to port it to our HOX but, wouldn't it be a great feature to have?
Youtube /watch?v=lbGmfk8yaZU, sorry i am not allowed to post external links as a newbie in XDA
The lockscreen feature is presented at 2 minute 30s mark.
:fingers-crossed:
What do you think? Would you like to see this feature in your Custom ROM?
Cheers

Totally useless on the One X because we don't have an OLED screen.

Not totally useless, only a bit more power consuming because the whole display would have to be activated instead only of part of it.
But screen would only glow in intervals (you could slow down the interval) when new notification arrives and when you take it out of pocket or flip it downside up with use of proximity sensor.
Bu yes, i agree, our battery is already a bit week.. :/

Seems pretty neat

Porting it to sense is impossible duo to sense framework work.
How ever its possible to port it to aosp if the necessary sources are out....
IMO its useless because its a battery sucker

there is an app called NoLED from the play store that does something somewhat similar. its not the same thing but it does give you a floating notification on the screen and tells you what app its from.
And yeah, LCD screens will use more power and will prevent the phone from properly sleeping. You can tune it to only turn on the screen if you flip it over.

Or you can use Active Notifications,it's verry verry similar to the Moto X:

Only Works on Devices with Android 4.3 for now
Edit. Looks like its experimental on 4.1.2 and 4.2.2. Anyone tried it yet?

Posted without reading the app description. When this app came out it only worked on 4.3 devices but now it works on the One X. Best to use with Low brightness.

Or you can create a Tasker profile that will make your screen pulse every few minutes until you dismiss the notification...

The app use a lot of battery. But it looks great!

[Q] ROMs... Which one has these?

Hi all,
I've changed quite a few ROMs lately trying to find the one I like most. I'm using a Desire Z.
I'm running my Work email client (lotus notes traveler) that requires the phone to have a screen lock <=30min. It seems like that apart from Sense ROM that has a native lock screen timer any other market app to delay it gets overridden by Notes settings
I tested
Cyan: like the speed, not so much the GUI, also trieded it with LaucherPRO that i prefer to ADW this is not really my preferred one. Battery is average for me on this ROM
MIUI: love it, problem is I can't extend the lock-screen time to 30 minutes and I hate typing password every single time. (tried a few apps from the market but Lotus Notes for Android over-rides their settings)
Virtuous Glite: Love the lightness and speed and battery life, also like the clean minimalistic GUI, same problem as with MIUI.... lock screen
Virtuous Unity: Apart from battery life I love this ROM. Lock-Screen here works perfectly allowing me to apply 30min delay
Each one has things that I like and Unity is the one that gets closer to what I need apart from battery life.
So this is my shopping list, can you help me finding the perfect one?
Extended battery? How about stick an 1800mah from an evo in there ?

isnt there a lockscreen app on market to fully customize? i had a paid lockscreen app that let me do pretty much anything i just forget the name....i wanna say "something locker"
Have you tried flashing your radio to the one recommended in the Unity thread (also in my sig)?
With Unity and the matching radio, I can get 48 hrs with fairly light usage. But if its truly a radio issue, this can be very locational dependent, of course.

I think there are other applications similar to widget locker. Do a search for widget locker on market and check similar apps. You can probably email them and see if they do what you need.

Works only on Google play edtion 4.3
But mabey on sens rom to. But thit not test that

Any pics on what it looks like when up and running?
Since we don't have super AMOLED, wouldn't this be a huge battery drain?

not realy screen is on for a 10 or 15 sec.
this is how it looks like. When you push the icon of the notification you see from it is
The whole screen would light up as black instead of being off like Amoled. I don't think LCD's can take full advantage of this feature
I think notifierpro is the best app for this task. The free lite version works awesome.
All they need is a setting to set a timeout. I use Knock² currently and its set to 30seconds. I use it mainly at work to see if a message is worth grabbing my phone for.

Yeah worked fine... but it is 4.3 and above only. Meaning it only will work on the GE ROM or phone.
He needs to change his target API to hide it from those not 4.3

It can, the battery drain is significantly higher than an AMOLED screen.
I'm fine with keeping the extra battery life and having the LED. (Dashclock helps on the lock screen).
The Moto X benefits the most by far from this because of a few reasons.
1.) Contextual low-power processor
2.) AMOLED screen
3.) It doesn't have a notification LED to begin with.
i think it is what you personal perfer or like. I thougt nice app let's share. For those ho want it.
Just had a training for my Samsung care point to maintain my license. And had the same explanation of diferents beteween AMOLED, Super AMOLED and LCD.
I hope to get a re traing for HTC to.
I have installed it on my viper Rom. Works perfect. But then I am getting force closes error on gmail. When I disable it. Gmail works fine. But when I enable it. It gives me force close error. Any solution?

Motorola touchless control APK

Here's a link to check it out. Not sure if it works. If anybody wants to test out the APK, please report back with your results.
Thanks but the app is only installable on the ULTRA, MAXX, Mini, and Moto X.
it installs without problems, but doesn't appear in appdrawer, and playstore says it's incompatible with the One
I have installed the .apk, but can't start it, as it isn't present as an actual app. I think, we also need the settings app directly from the Moto X/Droid Series, in order to be able to set up the actual touchless cotrols app.
Application installed just fine on my Telus Galaxy S3 with CM10.2. Added the activities shortcut through Nova Launcher. Tried to launch each activity but it just crashed.
Rebooted and continuous errors.
There's something unique in Motorola's framework similar to TouchWiz/Sense etc. I know this is the HTC One forums, but I felt like trying it out
lol i like how the OP post an apk wants people to test but it too scared to test it himself

are you following me from phone to phone over the years? :silly:
i've got the air gestures half working (screen on, scroll through browser etc) gonna try and get the rest working later on...
as for motorola touchless control apk it will never work without the motorola chip inside
Touchless controls is going to require a Motorola Phone. It requires a specific low-core processor that allows the phone to be constantly listening, if we kept the mic in our phones on 24/7 without Motorola's specific hardware, our battery would die in 1 hour.

I was at work and couldn't download it and play with it. I have since tried it (it failed for me too), and have done some more digging. Apparently, the Moto X has a core in it's processor made to do just this. We do not have that core. Looks like this is a lost cause...
Stop saying core! It's a DSP, noting 'core' about that. .
But yes, this is useless without that chip. There is a app on play store that does the same thing and you can even set the wake phrase ('Jarvis!'). Haven't tried it so I cannot comment on battery, but I'm sure it uses quite a bit.

Unless you or someone else can port it and get all of the drivers installed and working then probably not. Besides that what is it about the ROM that you are wanting? As far as looks it is almost AOSP completely. Maybe a few extra things that comes with blur which only adds to bloat.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747
I'm not sure anyone will see a compelling reason to do this. As was posed above.. what feature(s) in Moto X are you looking for?
An ASOP ROM or actually a wicked ROM (which has a lot of configuration options); choosing the ASOP lockscreen.. plus the Dynamic Notifications app (which adds the distinctive Moto X notifications) would achieve the same thing for me.
But it all depends on why you want it. Were these the key features that caught your eye?

AFAIK.. which isn't that much regarding Moto X.. they are using voice control. The Samsung S Voice app does much the same thing. There is also the Air swipes app which adds touch less S4 style air gestures to the S3. You may want to look at those apps.

Active Display

Hey guys,
I have the Moto G 4G/LTE (XT1039)
Recently, I have been unsuccessfully attempting and working around for ways to make "Active Display" to work on our phones... No such luck!!
So, I decided to try and experiment with possible replacement apps that can do the same or similar job...
And the best replacement app I have found so far to "Active Display" is:
• AC Display
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.acdisplay&hl=en
This app ? Is definitely my favorite.
Works well and is fully compatible with the Moto G sensors and even with the lock screen using the music player as well.
I really liked the look of the Deprecated version:
• AC Display (Deprecated)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.activedisplay&hl=en
? But the sensors don't work!
I also tried:
• Dynamic notifications
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications&hl=en_GB
But I found this app being faulty on my phone, and the sensors definitely unresponsive or other times working the wrong way around...
So, if you guys have any other suggestions?

"Amoled display" for what?
I'm really trying to understand your point, but I fail to understand your logic.
Saying that, I understand that you are only repeating the same comment from other forums participants.
? If you download "AC Display (Deprecated)" you will find that is the exact carbon copy of "Active Display" from Motorola. Unfortunately the sensors on that app don't work. The App was "Deprecated".
The reason for that, was that the developer was worried that Motorola would put a stop on his app development.
(Check is comments on Google+)
So he changed the layout of the app to stop the obvious resemblance to the Motorola app and he launched the current "AC Display" that does a similar job to the original with working sensors as well, but with a different esthetic look.
The app is still in development.
My point here is:
Not so long ago we didn't had "driving mode" and "home mode" on the Moto G.
Today Motorola finally give us that.
In the exact same way they can give us "Active Display" taylored for our phones.
In reality, Motorola/Lenovo can easily give us some power saving version of Moto voice if they desire, since they have already give us the home and driving mode.
? Everything is possible, for as long there is a will, than there is a way...
But realistically they will leave the premium options for the more expensive Moto X.

i think than you..
according to me an obstacle for the touchless control and the active display of motorola is the presence of one micro processor dedicate to this functiones..but everything is possible..
motorola developers have tried to porting a version lite of the active display ... this is established from the presence of the process Active Display Lite..
The active display from the moto X doesn't work on the Moto G because the moto X has an Amoled display which can turn single pixels on and off.
AC display works well on my moto g XT1033, was searching for this kind of app since 2 months. Thanks alot.:good:
