A LINK to the setting page of bluetooth or Wifi instead of a toggle? Have the AOSP team no idea what is going on in the custom ROM world? Do they not see anything the community has done? You'd think that Android would adopt everything of use from custom ROMs and yet, when we think they're finally doing things right, they botch it up with a half-assed solution like a LINK to the Wifi settings instead of a toggle. Amazing.
Just had to rant. What an infuriating development. Makes me think the AOSP team is starting to rest on their laurels like the iOS team has been doing for years now.
And don't get me started on how the lockscreen widgets aren't as secure as they should be.

Its funny cause a lot if the AOSP are major supporters and contributors of the custom ROM community. Better watch what you say about them.

There has to be room for criticism here. AOSP will always be the baseline and that baseline has to become more useful with solutions that go all the way, not just links to a settings page.
I suspect that there will be a major outcry about this quick settings shade and they will all be turned into toggles in Android 4.2.1
They have to include something in 4.2.1 or whatever is next so they skipped it now as they can boast later .
that's quite disapointing.... hopefuly they will change it for 4.2.1
I agree with you CADude. I'm still amazed that something as simple as battery percentage isn't included. Having toggles that don't toggle really is half-assed.
which toggles are actually toggles?

Brightness and aeroplane mode, but brightness opens up a slider, so you mightn't count that as a toggle.

Part of me wants to NOT complain because we have it so much better than iOS users already but this quick settings shade struck me as more of a placeholder than something that has been finalized as a truly useful feature. There's no customization to it, it looks awkwardly proportioned like a bunch of Windows Phone live tiles, and there's no effort to display a lot of information on it, despite seemingly having a lot of space left to work with.
Its as if the AOSP team doesn't have any faith in the intelligence of the public to learn how to use a toggle and instead took the safe route and put links in there instead so that people wouldn't complain about their phone settings being messed up by fooling around up there. That's the only explanation I can come up with for such a massive fail of an implementation.
I'm really annoyed at the possibility that this shade won't be made useful or more functional until Android 4.3 in another 4 months...

Listen, I know you guys are used to getting upvoted on reddit or whatever other teenybopper place you guys post at but this is a forum for real discussion about OS functionality, not being first to spout the latest meme to make other teenies smile when they see you applying it to every complaint out there.
There are a few things I've noticed which I would've preferred to function differently.
1. The lockscreen status bar clock doesn't autohide anymore, I know it's knit-picky, but two clocks on one screen is silly IMO.
2. The mobile data option in the shortcuts takes you to data usage, not the toggles, a little bit of a fail.
3. The status bar date should, when selected, take you to the clock app, not the clock settings, I mean, how often does one change those?
4. I like that the battery percentage is hidden away, but it's still there, I actually dig it a lot.
5. I don't like how the lockscreen widgets light up the sides of the lockscreen when you turn your screen on.
As you can see, these are all cosmetic changes that can be made pretty easily I am sure. One thing I am looking forward to is how devs customise all of these options, because the AOSP framework is there now, no need for CM toggles, etc. So although Google may not have nailed it 100%, our devs surely will.
Apologies if this is a little OT.

now I have flashed the OTA packages, played with the QS a bit
I'm thinking now, "What the **** is this...."
not all toggles are actually toggles... and there is no way to customize it further (to me the uniqueness of android is that it offers lots of ways to customise your device)
hope they can improve this QS thing in 4.2.1...

I'm with you, it opens the doors to a ton of possibilities. The execution may not be zOMG best custom ROM ev4rs implementation, but I foresee some great things being built from the source.
Yay multiwindow.

Contextual Awareness
(1) Page Buddy: Your phone will smartly predict what you intend to do according to your actions. For example, when you plug in your earphones, the device automatically opens up a page with the music player.
(2) Contextual Menu: When you list up apps, you can now choose to see the most frequently used ones first. Especially convenient when you’re looking through apps to find files to attach.
(3) Contextual Tag: When you take a picture on the phone, you can tag the weather, date, and place immediately.
*Enhanced Features*
(1) Multi Window: You can open two different apps at the same time into two different windows on the mobile screen.
(2) Auto Share Shot Pairing using NFC: By setting the camera to ‘Auto Share Shot’ mode, you can quickly share your photos and videos by simply tapping their GALAXY S III with other NFC and S-Beam enabled devices
(3) Reader Mode: You can easily control the size of the text on your browser! Also, you can just click the webpage to share it!
(4) Facebook Lock Ticker: The easiest way to see your Facebook News Feeds – set your phone to show it on your lock screen.
How do these new features sound? Exciting? But wait, we still got more so come back soon for part 2!
Dammit I was just about to post this. You beat me to it

The other stuff I don't really care about lol. I hope part 2 is more exciting.
Considering most of these Note II features are not even available on the T-Mobile Note II, I'm not hopeful about the prospects of Tmo ever pushing this out.

MULTIMEDIA
Paper Artist: You can make a picture like a pop artist. Change the moods of your pictures whenever you want.
Low Light Shot: It’s always tough to take pictures in dark places. So the Galaxy S III with Premium Suite has a Low-Light-Shot function.*Get your hands on one and check out the difference!
Best Face: The problem with group pictures? Somebody always, ALWAYS blinks. Well, Best Face is your solution to that. Best Face takes 5 consecutive pictures and lets you choose the best face for each person among those shots.
NEW FEATURES AND BETTER ACCESSIBILITY
Easy Mode: For first-time smartphone users and/or those who are really really, well, lazy. This function helps you set up the most five frequently used widgets on the home screen, so you don’t have to be tired of looking everywhere to find those apps.
Sound Balance: You can adjust the balance of volume one each side of earphones.
Setup Wizard: After turning on your cell phone, you can see the accessibility menu right away on the screen.
Easy Snap: With ‘talk back’ and ‘face detection’ on your settings menu, the Galaxy S III tells you how many faces it can detect on the camera preview.

I love the new feature from new Google-Motorola phone "Moto X". The new "Silent Lockscreen Notification" feature is so neat, nice, useful...
I just love it
Unfortunately I am not a developer, so I don't have the skills to port it to our HOX but, wouldn't it be a great feature to have?
Youtube /watch?v=lbGmfk8yaZU, sorry i am not allowed to post external links as a newbie in XDA
The lockscreen feature is presented at 2 minute 30s mark.
:fingers-crossed:
What do you think? Would you like to see this feature in your Custom ROM?

Not totally useless, only a bit more power consuming because the whole display would have to be activated instead only of part of it.
But screen would only glow in intervals (you could slow down the interval) when new notification arrives and when you take it out of pocket or flip it downside up with use of proximity sensor.
Bu yes, i agree, our battery is already a bit week.. :/
Seems pretty neat
Porting it to sense is impossible duo to sense framework work.
How ever its possible to port it to aosp if the necessary sources are out....
IMO its useless because its a battery sucker

there is an app called NoLED from the play store that does something somewhat similar. its not the same thing but it does give you a floating notification on the screen and tells you what app its from.
And yeah, LCD screens will use more power and will prevent the phone from properly sleeping. You can tune it to only turn on the screen if you flip it over.
Or you can use Active Notifications,it's verry verry similar to the Moto X:

Posted without reading the app description. When this app came out it only worked on 4.3 devices but now it works on the One X. Best to use with Low brightness.
Or you can create a Tasker profile that will make your screen pulse every few minutes until you dismiss the notification...

The app use a lot of battery. But it looks great!
Here's a link to check it out. Not sure if it works. If anybody wants to test out the APK, please report back with your results.
Thanks but the app is only installable on the ULTRA, MAXX, Mini, and Moto X.
it installs without problems, but doesn't appear in appdrawer, and playstore says it's incompatible with the One
I have installed the .apk, but can't start it, as it isn't present as an actual app. I think, we also need the settings app directly from the Moto X/Droid Series, in order to be able to set up the actual touchless cotrols app.
Application installed just fine on my Telus Galaxy S3 with CM10.2. Added the activities shortcut through Nova Launcher. Tried to launch each activity but it just crashed.
Rebooted and continuous errors.
There's something unique in Motorola's framework similar to TouchWiz/Sense etc. I know this is the HTC One forums, but I felt like trying it out

Touchless controls is going to require a Motorola Phone. It requires a specific low-core processor that allows the phone to be constantly listening, if we kept the mic in our phones on 24/7 without Motorola's specific hardware, our battery would die in 1 hour.

I was at work and couldn't download it and play with it. I have since tried it (it failed for me too), and have done some more digging. Apparently, the Moto X has a core in it's processor made to do just this. We do not have that core. Looks like this is a lost cause...
Stop saying core! It's a DSP, noting 'core' about that. .
But yes, this is useless without that chip. There is a app on play store that does the same thing and you can even set the wake phrase ('Jarvis!'). Haven't tried it so I cannot comment on battery, but I'm sure it uses quite a bit.

@Thomson2412:
First of all - if anybody with Find 7 is to flash this, he will probably have a custom ROM and it does not have to be CM.
Your zip is obviously for CM ROM. I am using OmniROM with Android 7.1 at the moment.
I flashed it and found out it is not working at all. Altought, it does add the options to settings panel.
Setting any option does not do anything and checking Haptic feedback for any action causes crash.
---
When I flashed the Omni version you have in your original thread (after I removed the OnePlus related checks) the settings options were not there at all - it is in Settings - Device Features.
1. Setting app for Camera gesture works.
2. Clicking on setting vibrator strength causes crash.
And I might be wrong, but it seems that flashing that zip messed up my "menu button one-click".
I do not get any menu popups anymore. Even when I put the original version back..

I can't add gestures to a rom that doesn't have them by default because that would require a kernel change and I'm not capable (yet) to implement "new" gestures. Currently I don't have the time nor interest in learning how to change a kernel. So if your device doesn't have gestures I'm afraid I cant be of any help. I only alter what gestures do not add them or create custom ones.
