I like Mike Froyo v4.2 Re-engineered... a very good stock base ROM ROM optimized for speed, but still Sense and a "stock" experience, with a few goodies... get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883026.
For backup, I'm a new fan of TI Backup, used by many on here, and long time user of My Backup Pro, which allows you to restore your home screens exactly as they were (Someone correct me, but Ti Back up is Great, but does not have a function to restore home screen layout...?)

I abosolutely love myns warm twopointtwo. at least check out his thread. there are over 2000 pages in there, and all of them filled with compliments. you will not be dissapointed. yes, the file size is a bit big, but the tweaks he puts in makes the rom look and feel like a superphone. you wont be sorry.

new to incredible thread. Questions for you guys...

hello all. this is my first time ever setting foot in the incredible threads. im currently a roooted eris user, but recently upgrading to the incredible due to eris's limitations. i should be recieving one in the mail today hopefully. i have a few quick questions for you guys and im hoping i can get answers today or at least before i start rooting my phone.
1) can titanium backup restore all my apps + data and configurations, that were backed up on my eris without any issues?
2) which rom is the best so far? i was enjoying cm 6.0 port on my eris but i prefer sense now because im not much of a fan of stock vanilla look.
I do enjoy the 360 degree rotation and was wondering if anyone has created a sense based rom with that particular feature or does cyanogen have a monopoly on that one?
3) does metamorph work on the incredible? and are these roms available now currently themable
4) which is the most preferred kernel? ive read so far about hydra kernel and kingx, what are the advantages each have over the other
5) in case of a necessary warranty exchange attempt, is there an ota based ruu rom available to restore the original bootloader? in other words is it unrootable as of yet? (eris users are currently able to do this.)
Oh and i forgot to ask.
6) is the 2.2 ota released for upgrade or are the 2.2 roms available right now leaks?

1) Most likely not, while just restoring apps should work, apps+data may bring about problems because they are different phones. don't quote me tho. (My advice make a nandroid before you restore apps+data then if you get FC'cs you'll see something went wrong and can go back)
2) The most popular ROM on this forum seems to be Skyraider, it has both a sense and vanilla version. There are 3 more fairly popular ones on ROM manager, I advise you to test them all out they all have their own flair.
3) Yes, check out the theme's section for more info on that.
4) Both kernels work well, it's all a matter of what you're happiest with. I'm not sure of the specific differences of both tho, so maybe someone else can answer that.
5) If you use Unrevoked3 you can RUU back to stock yes. If you use Unrevoked forever (which is S-off) there is currently no way to get S-on. So you would just have to hope if you turned it in for warranty that the guy didnt check the bootloader.
6) Most 2.2 ROM's right now are based off a leak released here on 8/1/2010. There is no official 2.2 release for the Incredible.

[Q] 2.2 or CM7 on DEFY

I am new to the Android phone, and I purchase the Defy on last sunday, I like this phone and those function, but I am thinking to upgrade the firmware to 2.2, the salesman say it can be download 2.2 OTA at April, but after a week and there is still nothing.
So now I am thinking upgrade to CM7, one question, after installed the CM7, can it downgrade to the original 2.2 OTA?
Also I am focusing to the Hotspot feature. Is it work fine?
my phone version is
2.59.0.MB525.Retail.n.CH18
firmware version
2.1 update1
Yes, i have done that tomorrow. I don't like some modifications that i was used to, in the contact list, that have changed in the CM7. I'm gonna wait to another version to see if will get better what i want.
it seems like cm7 is still in beta-mode if i was u i would wait untill a stable verison comes out
If you don't want to be flashing fixes every other day i recommend not going with CM7. It runs great for light usage but it has many issues for now.
I recommend going with a 2.2 rom like my EphuNord. It is a clean Blurless 2.2 rom with a few modifications to allow easy themeing. I also uploaded around 8 themes.
If you follow the correct procedures you can always downgrade as far as 2.1 again if you need to.
thx for information, but which is the most stable for 2.2? I saw some post that some rom are not compatible?! Any recommandation? I want 2.2 or above.
I am lost on upgrade or not.
I want to update to ephnord 2.2
But want to downgrade back to 2.1
I am 2.51 uk(the phone came with it)

For Now 2.2 will be a better choice as the CM7 is its beta phases so let it come as a stable build...
N dude make sure while upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2 you does not lose ur downgradability and for that use the excellent work from fritolays so that u can downgade back to ur original firmware just by flashing 2.1 firmware of ur choice back...
Were can i find fritolays`s work, thanks in advance mate.

If you're newbie (or just want to use phone, not patch it every day), then better 2.2
fritolays's work here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977989
EphuNord is also good choise for you. They both based on latest official leaked 2.2 and very stable.
Thank u so much

[Q] help for a newbie? :)

i have an evo that i bought when the op sys was still at 2.1. i rooted with unrevoked...no problems. i have recently decided to upgrade to a newer version of froyo, however i am not sure how to proceed.
last night, i installed unrevoked-forever, and now i need instructions on what rom to upgrade to and still keep root. i've browsed the forums, but it's all greek to me. i know how to flash a rom, and am fairly comfortable with doing that part of the procedure. i just want to upgrade the op sys to be able to take advantage of some of the new features that aren't present in 2.1, and NOT LOSE ROOT, as i use my tether often.
can anyone please guide a sistah on the right path?
If this doesnt help you I don't know what will lol

If you're looking to stay stock rooted try flashing the sprint lovers rom 2.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830153
Download the "odexed" version of the rom from here. You will have the latest Froyo version as well as maintain root.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
if i were you, i'd try a custom rom. not just a rooted stock one. try myn's warm twopointtwo if you want a nice, smooth, fast, themed, stock-like experiance.
Try a sense rom like koni elite series 3 with a netarchy kernel then when ur used to.custom rom try a aosp I suggest destroyer v2 rom.or end of days

[Q] Put T-Mobile G2 back to stock Android

My G2 is rooted and I flashed Virtuous Sense 3.0 on it. It's kinda sluggish and sometimes it hangs. How can I flash the stock ROM back? Please help...
Let me ask a few questions...
What were you running previously?
Did you not do a backup prior to flashing a new ROM?
Do you want to go back to full stock, s-on, out of the box?
Thanks for the reply. It was stock, S-ON, out of the box before the OTA update to 2.3.4, then I downgraded to 2.2 to gain root, then flashed VS 2.0 first, then 3.0, and performance-wise, they're the same to me and hangs once or twice a day. My backup is now a VS 2.0. HTC Sense to me is good, but I can live without it. Just want my G2 back to stock, it was GREAT!
Search around the Dev section, if I recall there are some pre-rooted stock ROMs on there. Or you can just make the jump to CM7, maybe to CM9 (or CM9 based) ROM. I'm running Andro V13 and it runs well. As far as sense ROMs, I tried out Revolution HD for a few hours and was by far the smoothest Sense 3.5 ROM I've had.

Check out the dev section, I have a rom called g2slim. Its the newest stock ota update ripped clean with battery saving mods and speed tweaks. It has a ton of free ram at boot too, all those stupid lil apps take like 2mb ram each. I know it don't sound like a lot, but they add up!

[Q] Is it possible to flash a stock HTC Sense Rom onto tmobile G2? or best Sense ROM?

Situation:I've read through most of the HTC Sense roms on our forums and most of them show at least a few problems with missing/broken features. Currently on Virtuous Sense 2.1 which I love since the only thing that bothers me is: the "www./.com" is now a tab, one widget resets the htc sense UI(removed it though), and a small amount of lag. Currently I'm intent on having the latest HTC Sense Rom on my G2.
Question: Is it possible to just flash the stock HTC Sense roms onto the G2 and have it update on its own after I flash and unroot itself?
Question: If not, anyone have an HTC Sense rom available that is stable, full features working, little to no lag, and the procedure is forgiving(as in my G2 won't brick easily if I incorrectly executed a step)?
Notes: I used this procedure for rooting from XDA wiki: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD). I really liked it because I failed a couple of times and pulled the battery and it still didn't brick however after I flashed, I wiped the sd card(kept backup files though) and replaced it with a higher capacity sd card.
For sense roms on a G2, you need to have the Desire Z hboot. Which from your description, you must already be having. You can go ahead and flash any rom of your choice.

Then after I should unroot and let htc sense update itself?
More than likely you will be better off not going stock if you want to keep root access and leave security flags off. If you do go back to stock you will not be able to run anything more advanced then what you have now, stock is still gingerbread and will never be updated past that unless you use a custom rom. There are many sense roms that are pretty good for the vision, almost all are better than stock in some way, I would suggest trying a few out to find what works best for you

That's just it, I'm tired of going through and flashing roms that are missing features/bugged/slow. Some I like, for instance Gen.Y R3, trickdroid, revolution(all snappy and quick) but they just miss that one feature I need most(eg auto rotate screen or htc locations is broken). Unless someone recommends one that fits the G2 on dzhboot perfectly I'm willing to flash one last time.
Honestly Virtuous Sense 2.1 was probably the best custom rom experience I've had because it had the least problems for my specific needs. It also happened to be the first rom I ever flashed to break my android rooting cherry =P.
Personally, I'm not into a lot of customizing right now, I just want a rom that I am satisfied with and forget about. I'm going back to Virtuous Sense in the meantime while I look for stock HTC sense roms that will update itself so I never have to worry about it again. (anyone know where to find a stock htc sense rom that is going to work on a G2?)
Like I said it won't update it self, htc will never update date this phone again the rom you are using (in my opinion) is better than stock, there are lots of others to try out if you would like, if you want stock that's fine but it will never update past android 2.3.x if you want more features, more stable, better battery life etc... go with a custom rom based off of stock

Thanks, I guess I skimmed over you mentioning the inability to update, alright time to get back on the flashing rom binge, watch me brick
Its real hard to brick your phone just flashing roms, be sure to do a full wipe!
If you need extra help rizzoizzo made a nice tutorial on how to flash roms for beginners, check in the first few pages of general section and be sure to thank him if it helps ya
