First this is not the forum for questions. The question and answer thread is better suited. That said I wouldn't recommend restoring a backup from another Rom , especially if you used amon

Ya if you overwrite your wimax code from the previous phone it could mess up your 4g. Just suck it up and do a clean install on the new phone.

Exactly, if you flash over your wimax image it WILL bork 4g. (I haven't tested but it only makes sense) The idea of backing up wimax is to keep keys in tact. If you flash keys from another phone, then you my friend will be on evo #3. haha

I agree 100% with everything said here, just use your other Evo as a template for which programs to download and such and do not use Nandroid to restore stuff from your older Evo. If you write over your WIMAX, bye bye 4G. That or you can only use 4G on one phone at a time because they will share the same key.
You were already told that this is the wrong section, so no need to repeat. Please post in Q&A next time if you have questions, saves a MOD from having to move your post.
isn't there a workaround?
Could you just remove the wimax.img from the nandroid restore folder and then restore the other img portions? (Unless of course the restore process must have ALL the img files to complete)
Or maybe move all your img files, except the wimax one, into a PC36img.zip and restore via bootloader? (unless you have to sign the pc36img.zip file somehow)
I suppose removing all the radio images would be prudent here. You're really just interested in /boot, /data and /system I believe.
how do i get my wimax back? I dont have a nandroid that contains wimax

Getting a new phone. Without a nandroid backup of your WIMAX partition, your keys are lost forever. They can not be recreated.
What did you do that made you lose Wimax?
Did you flash a ROM that doesn't have 4G?
You can check your RSA keys by downloading the RSA key checker app from the market.

OP you can do ^, but if they show that your keys aren't present and you have no backup, you're out of luck there buddy.
Does this means even if you lose your keys etc - while flashing rom without 4G - you can still get them back if you have nandroid backup ?

Yes, you can restore them if you have a backup of wimax.img

Hey guys i cracked my evo again yesterday so im probably going to go get another one sometime soon. Is it possible to make a nandroid of my current evo and restore it on my new evo? If so HOW do it do it and WHAT do i need to backup im running armon ra 2.3 so i can pick and choose what to backup. Thanks guys!
Im not an evo expert seeing as i have a galaxy s 4g but i believe if you somehow edit the md5 sum of either the phone or the backup, you can use it on pretty much any phone (well not any, like you couldnt take a nand of an evo custom rom and run it on a galaxy s)

Restoring a backup in that manner can brick your evo. What you do is backup all of the apps and data to titanium backup on the sd card, then put that sd card in the new evo, use revolutionary to root it, then after root, restore ONLY apps and data, NOT system settings. You can restore launcher settings as well, just re add the widgets.

Well I'm personally not familiar with it. Though I still don't recommend it if you don't know what you are doing because you will corrupt the backup and could brick the phone.

I still wouldn't do that. The evo, unlike the hero, has wimax, and if you overwrite the wimax radios, you will NEVER get them back.

Well if that's the case, that should work, just have to be sure to get the new device id exactly right. Though I still think he will run into problems, maybe force closes when restoring the system portion.

I would suggest installing clockwork mod, making a nandroid of your current setup and downloading titanium backup, backing up your apps plus data. Copy the backup data to your computer. Once you get your new phone, root it, install clockwork mod again and MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP of your stock evo. This is very important. If you somehow lose your wimax keys, or mess something critical up, this will allow you to get those keys back. Now, restore your nandroid from your previous phone, and restore your apps + data.

Ok that makes sense but if I make a nandroid why would I need titanium?

You should really buy an Otter Box case and you wouldn't really be having this problem. But to answer you question, yes the last response was correct. As long as you store the backup on your computer then you can put that copy on your new cell.

Sounds good to me, the only reason I would use nandroid is if you have a highly modified phone (custom rom and/or kernel, themes, etc).
If I or someone else helped you, tap the thanks button.

Well if you used clockwork, you can manually go into the folder and remove the wimax from the backup.
Hey is there any way to backup my 4g keys/wimax for use on another epic 4g?
thanks
I haven't tried this yet myself but I would think this should work. Use Titanium backup to do a full backup. Copy the Titanium backup directory from the SD on the old phone to the SD card on the new phone. Install Titanium backup on the new phone and do a restore. Let me know if it works.
You can back up but only restore on the same device. NEVER EVER EVER EVER TRY TO RESTORE KEYS ONTO A NEW DEVICE YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOSE 4G AND POSSIBLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
now as far as backing up on the epic idk if you can. On the evo (my phone) its done in recovery.

My mistake. I didn't see that they said 4G keys. I was thinking WiFi for some reason. Yeah what I said won't work.
I believe wifi passwords are saved on your google account if you enabled it if that's what your talking about?
Then whatever device you sign in on should have them. At least that's how it worked with cyanogen

Hey XDA,
I will be receiving a new S3 from T-Mobile tomorrow and was wondering if there are any ways to transfer everything from your old device to your new as if it were the same. My phone is currently rooted and running CM10. Will this cause any problems? Looking for the most efficient and error-free way possible, thank you so much for all your help!
Nandroid.

Meaning the full backups I would do in TWRP right?
Would this cause a problem though if I did this backup and used the exact same file to restore onto a new device? I heard it didnt.
Thanks!

Is your current phone the same as the phone you're getting tomorrow? If they are exactly the same, nandroid is the best way.
+Cool story, bro!
+The "Thanks" you get from me is not just thanks, but can be laughing, props, +1, and so on
Just to be clear, only restore the data portion of the nandroid.
And this is only because you are going to remain on cm10.
If you are going to a different version, or different base, you're best off only restoring certain items, such as contacts.
Titanium backup is also highly recommended.

Presuming you know what nandroid and titanium back up do and also both require you to be rooted.
I would suggest nandroid if your old and new phones are of the same make.
Else use titanium backup back up only the "user" apps and transfer the Titanium Backup folder into your new phone and then restore.
I do the same and frankly for me it is trouble free.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I will be getting the exact same phone. I just need to flash and root it up once I get it. Will different basebands cause a problem or does that need to be the same as well?
Baseband is your modem which is separate from everything else. It is generally not backed up and you dont have to worry about it.
