would be nice, if someone will get this app working: http://de.appbrain.com/app/toggle-2g/com.mb.toggle2g or code a similar app, which will work with tasker to switch between 2g and 3g without user interaction.
if there is a hack or an app alternative which works already on galaxy s, please let me know.
Superpower can switch between 2G and 3G without userintervention...

i know, but it is no tasker/locale plugin. i need it for tasker profiles.
hopefully cm7 on sgs will support "toggle 2g" plugin ...
I believe the author of Superpower considers integration with Tasker. He's also planning to built in some cell-tower-id-awareness.
Toggle 2G/3G with Tasker
Did you ever find a Tasker plugin? Tasker support in Superpower is indeed planned but wont be integrated anytime soon. I tried searching for methods to do the switching with Tasker but couldn't find anything... Anyone else?

I've finally taken the plunge and moved to a different OS (android) after being a supporter of Windows mobile for so long. So a lot of comparison going on at the moment
Anyway, one application I really liked in WinMo was the phone alarm which could change profies, notification settings, connectivity etc. This could also be scheduled. Is there something similar I can have for the desire? I couldn't seem to find such a setting on the desire.
Also, is it possible to activate the screen saver when it times out? Currently I get a black screen, but would be cool to get a clock or something, especially while I'm at work. I see there is an app called 'Desk clock' and I quite like the look of that but I haven't figured out how to actiavate it on screen timeout (like a screensaver)
Finally, has anyone used a docking station with the desire yet? I've seen a few here but not sure if they are any good
phoneAlarm replacement
I too was an avid pA user on WinMo and I haven't [as yet] found a direct replacement. I am using an App called 'Auto Task' which does some of pA's features (http://android.a0soft.com). Still looking for a good location based switching app though.
Try locale for all your needs. It does location based everything and has various plugins you can add too.
I have it turn on desktop when docked, switch off sounds and vibrate mode when entering work, switch off all sounds at night, auto sync when connected to wifi, and enable bluetooth when driving Excellent app.
Settings Profiles - is worth a look too
Hi.
You might also want to try Settings Profiles it similar to Locale and the WinMo app phoneAlarm.
I've used both (actually I've tried all 3) and I've settled for the time being on Settings Profiles.
It's available in the Marketplace.

+1 This is a brilliant app. I recently converted from winmo too.

Thanks guys, I've downloaded the lite version of Setting Profiles and it seems very good so far. Lots of customizations possible. I might purchase the full version if the lite version works well.
The only concern I had is that some of the reviews imply that it works fine for sometime and then it is not very reliable. Did any of you have similar experiences?
I have the Full vesion. IMO well worth the (small amount of) money. I have had no problems with reliability with the HTC Desire
Profile Switching etc
I have been testing a new app called "Tasker" which has an astounding array of features for controlling the phone. It is currently in beta test but I have not had any issues with it.
Checkout the web page at "tasker.dinglisch.net"
It is due to be released to market shortly and will cost around $6, (if you buy it direct via paypal it will be $1 less) which is cheaper than "Locale" and from what I have seen much more powerful.
I recommend reading the online guide to get a handle on how to use it, I think I am only scratching the surface at the moment but for me I am definately going to buy it once it is released...
I have seen a bit about Tasker, the app that enables you to change behaviors based on criteria. Tasker looks good, but it is a bit too fully featured for me.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives? Perhaps a bit more user friendly....free would be great too

I use PhoneWeaver. Easy to use but has a lot of features.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
There's also Timeriffic which is free. I use it to turn off Wifi at night and turn off the ringer while I'm at work.
phoneweaver
I second the recommendation for PhoneWeaver, easy to use but powerful anyway.

Use Widgetsoid, it rules.
They're pretty much exactly the same. It still doesn't switch GPS ON/OFF directly.

This is an application to automate switching stack. I am hoping that maybe this kind thing can be integrated into the roms to run as a background service.
Requirements :
1. A 4.4 ROM which has this bug.
2. Tinyalsas audio libraries.
3. Terminal emulator (won't need it but is reccomended )
4. An app which can lock this app in memory.I used 'Pimpmyrom:
5.Need YOU to test if its not putting too much load or is giving off any bugs.
Notes:
For Now its just a test app. you can still use tasker FIX but this is for those who don't want to buy tasker
Also I am still testing this . and don't know how long it will last under low system resources
Basically I didn't wanna use tasker so decided to use it to make this app.
This simply runs in the background and no need for tasker. so lesser resource consumption.
Though it does leave an icon in your app drawer and i dont know how to fix that..
And it works even if you swipe off the notification i guess.
Instructions:
Get tinyalsas audio libraries as of recent updates they are integrated
Download and launch .. It will pop a flash and a notification.. Using it switch default to VoIP(su *press enter* alsas)
Lock this app in memory and ur good to go
Also tel me if you want any changes in app name or icon or whatever .. Sorry just made this in a hurry.hope its worth it.
Hi,
Thanks for making this fix, it helped me out a lot when I was travelling and couldn't get SIP/VOIP to work on my CM11 Captivate Glide. One thing that I figured out once I got back is why my GSM calls weren't working, while my VOIP ones were working fine. It seems to me is that I have to manually switch the stacks through terminal emulator (su *press enter* alsas) to get either GSM or VOIP calls, which makes receiving both type of calls difficult. Do you know how to make both GSM and VOIP calls work at the same time?
Many thanks in advance!
Hi,
Just switched on OP3 from OPOne.
Actually, a bit disappointed, as some very good app and features are missing in OP3, namely:
- dialer is not integrated with TrueDialer. That option was available in the latest version on OPO, very useful.
- no User Profiles feature, also used a lot
- after removing google search bar can not move any icon on that free space, bug?
Any suggestions, how to handle these issues?
Other then that pretty interesting and decent phone.
Thanks!
Yup it this issue also in my op3
u can download true dialer u can pm me for an apk
i use in place of the real dialer with no issues
about the launcher, u can use Nove Launcher in place of also, it is a great launcher, i use google now card instead of the search bar

Yeah, the integrated TrueDialer is no longer an option, but you can download the app and set as default dialer. I side loaded the Google dialer, which is working perfectly. I absolutely love the Google ID function.
There is an ability to have User accounts. It's in the system settings. Not sure if this is what you're referring to?
And not sure about the Google search bar empty space either. I use Nova. Lol.
True Dialer and profiles are Cyanogen features, not specific to the OPO. I find the one plus launcher limited also so I use Nova launcher.
What is the best app for profile switcher? The one in OPO was pretty handy, even though with some bugs.
I also use nova, and plan to use it on my OP3 when it arrives, and I really detest TrueDialer. It was a piece of bloatware of Cyanogen, so I'm glad I don't have to remove it and replace it with the AOSP dialer, so glad to know it's gone
About the profiles, I didn't use them that much, but I guess we'll need to check the settings as js said.
