Can anybody tell me wtf is going on here? I tried searching here and wiping maps' cache, but it didn't change this problem. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling maps.

Kill the program. If you leave GPS on and that program runs it will suck battery like no other. Axe GPS and the program and it should go down.
If it doesn't, try reflashing the ROM after clearing everything...this might have also caused some problems
So i turned off gps and force closed maps.... still at 92%. I never had this problem with maps using myn's until maps v5.0.

ALSO, I turned off background data and force closed maps again, still at 82 percent of battery usage. I am just going to revert to an older version of maps. I feel like someone on here knows the answer and just isn't saying. I used to get 30+ hours on a battery charge, and that number has been cut in half now.

Yeah...people are going to this thread, reading about your issue and thinking to themselves, Hey, I know how to fix it but I don't think I will post my fix because _______.
Fill in the blank?
Yeah, well, that was a joke. But the problem remains. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this.
I was having the same issue too. I used it as an opportunity to try out a new ROM (CM 6.1.1), and have not had the problem with the new maps since.

I was thinking the same thing.... maybe the newest fresh, maybe CM. You've convinced me.
I just wanted to say that this is happening to me to. HTC EVO running the most recent official software. I was sent over here by a user on another message board, and there's at least 2 or 3 other posters who are having the problem.
I uninstalled the update, and went back to the version that the phone shipped with and it fixed the problem. Reinstalled 5.0 and there was no problem UNTIL I ran navigation in maps. Now it's doing the same thing again.
i have the same problem to on my HTC wildfire running on the most update official software. i tried reinstalling v5 but that didnt work for more then 3 houres. So now i deinstalled the updates and it works fine again.
anyone a better solution?
Dude, I had this EXACT same problem. Trust me, it's not Maps draining your battery. For some reason, it lists the last app used and puts it there. Later on, it will be Android System. I was scrambling. Killed the program, turned off auto sync, mobile data, etc. Nothing worked. Using the same rom and all.
Found out, my PRI and radios were not compatible with my build. Are you on 3.3? And using 1.9 PRI. It needs to be 1.7.
Check this out and see if that's the issue. If it is, fix that and you will be back to normal. Switching to CM really didn't fix your issue, just their rom with your build is compatible with those radios and PRI.

I have the very same problem. I haven't exactly solved it but Quickboot sure helped. Maps 5 is seriously flawed though. Even after GPS is off it still hogs the battery, ridiculous.

Well the symptoms that u describe are right, also saw my andriod system high in my battery usage list. However that was back to normal when maps whas up in the list. Now i use the maps without updates and i didnt use my phone much andriod systems is low and maps is not in the list.
I have no idea what radio and PRI do, and where to find which i have. Can u explain where to find some info and where i can see which i have in my phone?

I don't know if anyone has seen this or possibly knows what it may be, it shows up in spare parts, network usage. I cannot click on it to see what it could be, get the force stop msg. Any help would be greatly appreciated, my battery life is absolutely horrible. Running fresh rom, slayers cyan dragon theme, tried several different kernels and nothing seems to help, also tried downgrading pri.
Thank You

I recently saw a post asking about the "0" and the horrific battery life. While no one ever figured out what it was, the op solved the issue by backing up his apps & data with titanium, flashing Calkulin's format all zip, then reflashing his rom & kernel. I think he slowly restored apps so he could watch for the issue coming back.
Try a search & you might come up with the thread. I would definitely try the format all zip, though.

Try reading the logcat file. Get alogcat from market. You'll see either a block or multiple calls to some apk.
You call also get autostarts from market and disallow activation of intentions / events which cause "hangs" (spinning waiting) from the apk you found in logcat.
Thank you, I'll try that also.

Widgets, Live wallpaper Messaging clients Or any other client that receive notifications from the internet Will have your battery murdered like a runaway slave.
Typically a battery is only good for 200 to 250 charges. If it was charge properly every time. Let's face it nobody even knows how to charge the battery properly.
*edit please add around 900 more to the above figures for li-ion batts. Figures I quoted were for standard rechargeables.
Also check that you're not constantly running wifi and bluetooth. 4 g and 3g modes eat more battery than 2 g mode. Do what I do disable all wireless connections not in use.
If you ever noticed the display eats most of your battery power. turn down the brightness whenever you can see the screen clearly.
Applications that stream data over the internet will eat your battery quickly.
That's about all I can think of. Well 1 more thing. Buy a new battery and see if that doesn't help. (try èbáÿ)

Definitely thinking about buying a new battery, mine completely died about 3 weeks ago and I had a hell of a time to get it to pick up a charge again. That's probably my main problem I'm guessing. I just can't figure out the 0 in spare parts, network usage. I tried flashing a fresh version of fresh rom and individually reinstalling every app I had before, seemed to work for awhile, it didn't show back up. Waited awhile and reflashed Slayer's cyan theme and now it's back. Battery life was still **** before it showed up again though. Good advice and thank you, I believe I'll try a new battery.

My question is when using the rom, does anyone else's Wi-Fi turn on and off and have terrible signal? I configured the Wi-Fi so it wouldn't turn off and still does even when I am on the internet. It just like resets itself. If anyone has any answers regarding please tell me.
It also seems unlike the last two roms I was on didn't have terrible signal. I'm always at 98% and my router is strong, the signal before it disapates can reach about 50-80 ft before it dies. But through my apartment I get around 42-98% and that shouldn't be happening.
So if anyone knows any of these questions please tell me.
Thanks in advance!

I remember that some of the earlier CM7 ROM's had wifi issues.
I know this seems like a painful suggestion, but the newest nightly #151 is running really great and is likely much more stable than the RC you have running.
CM7 decides when to make a nightly an RC but the development and developers specific to our phone I don't think they have the power to do that.. so often those releases are buggy and those RC releases are the ones that people who don't like bugs like to flash.
I was thinking about it, what exactly does the nightley version have and how is it different? I really enjoy this rom but if the nightley more then likely fixes this I'd be happy to convert as long as it has the same features or more.

There have been WiFi issues with many GB builds across many platforms. If you still have weird issues, you might want to try using the kernel POQbum is using. It's faster than the stock kernel, too.
I am using Nightly now, but the issue now is the battery. I switched it to Conservative but still seems to drain rather slow. But as for Wi-Fi disconnects, I've had none. But still got a ****ty signal strength. I can deal with it.

Try another kernel if you haven't, and good to know that fixed your problem
Also dial *228 and choose option 2 to update your PRL's for signal.

Anyone else notice higher battery usage from Google Maps with UCLH1 based stock ROM as compared to UCLG1 stock?
I've disabled all the Location Services and still seeing it as the highest battery usage. If restore back to UCLG1, battery usage looks "normal" again.
Would be interested to see what others are seeing....
There's got to be something wrong with the latest maps. I have a user at work on an HTC Rezound that had serious reboots because of it. It's a known issue amongst Rezound and Sensation users and the latest Google Maps.

Possibly a combination of the latest updates along with ROM version; possibly phone... ???I don't have the problem on 2 HTC One X phones I have or when I revert back to UCLG1 based ROM, very strange.
Would be nice if others would chime in on whether they're seeing the same problem and under what conditions.

I'm on LG1 still and latest maps. I also notice high utilization for it.
Maps
I noticed earlier today that Maps was a big part of battery use. Went ahead and disabled GPS will hopefully notice something positive after next couple battery cycles.
This might not solve but seems to help -
Go to Maps, Settings, Location Settings, unchecked report my location from this device. Reboot.
It still runs in background and has wake lock but no where near as close to what it was doing before. I think this is just the way the new maps is so we may have to wait for the next release to hopefully fix it

Per my original post, I've already disabled all Location services, this does not resolve the problem when using the latest H1 ROM. I've now reverted back to G1 stock (using the same Google Maps) and no longer having the problem, so obviously a bug with the last leaked release; probably why it hasn't been officially released yet. Also, I didn't gain much updating to the H1 release and can't stand the display brightness option on the drop down.

Correct, but my comment was in regards to having the Location features ENABLED... with G1 stock ROM, this feature enabled is utilizing very little battery as compared to the very high usage when on the H1 ROM.
EDIT: Looks like you need to run the Cell Standby patch..
I've attached a screen of my battery usage with Location services enabled with the G1 ROM, as you can see very low.

Before I'm told to search, a Google search yields nothing regarding a particular wakelock I'm experiencing. I'm on CleanROM 2.6 and using Bricked Kernel. I know it's not a issue regarding the ROM or kernel, because I've had this wakelock in Jelly Bean also with a number of kernels and ROMs.
The wakelock is "sns_async_ev_wakelock". It's held 1 day and 5 hours of wakelock and it's woken up 201131 times. (I'm using Wakelock Detector). The tablet has been in airplane mode with no wifi or sync enabled as of last night. Today, I turn on my tablet and it's at 1%. It was a 53% last night. I'm talking 11pm last night to 7pm today. With no use.
I would love any and all help. I got nothing.

Looks like some apps are causing this issue. You need to either uninstall non-vital apps or do a factory reset and start from fresh.

The reddit link and the last link are the same person. He/she said his/her wakelock was fixed with a new version of Android. I have the same apps on my N7 and MotoX. MotoX operates fine. The wakelock has existed across Jelly Bean and KitKat for my N7. It can't be my Freshbacks app, as the wakelock existed before that.
Being same apps doesn't mean the will work properly across all devices, there might be a bug in just N7 (or a tablet version), if its not a hardware problem and you have stock it has to be an app doing something wrong.

For example, today. I have my screen on for 4hrs. My battery is at 53 percent after being off the charger for 5hrs.
I have this on my LG G2 and still found no definite solution - I just got lucky and the wakelock slowed down after flashing stock ROM from another region. Nowadays it doesnt go over 10 minutes in 22 hours too often.
Quite annoying as this seems to come from Qualcomm's sources. This kind of bug is simply unacceptable.

It's from QCom? That would make more sense. My battery has been awful. Not something I'd expect from this tablet.
Make appropriate backups then do a factory reset. See if the wakelock is there without any apps installed, then start adding back the apps you had before.

My M8 went from being the best phone I've ever had in terms of battery performance, to being utterly awful a few days back. I organised an exchange, but in the time I was waiting for the exchange to take place, a factory reset seemed to fix it. Still went with the exchange anyway.
I restored from HTC backup, and this one is having the same issue, battery wise. Also heating up sporadically. GSAM tells me I am getting an awful lot of BAM_DMUX_WAKELOCK and I've tried uninstalling apps, factory wiping and HTC restore, factory wiping and Google restore only, factory wiping and everything manually, and factory wiping and leaving it completely stock and nothing seems to make any difference.
Any ideas? It's bugging the hell out of me, I get about 12-16hrs of life with the phone barely being used now, whereas before I could get through a day of moderate to heavy use with more than half charge left.
Should I try another exchange?
assuming you Googled that wake lock...
What happens if you factory restore, don't install anything but the system app updates and turn off all of your Google account sync except for Gmail, app data and contacts?
I'm only trying to help you isolate the issue. I don't really have any more idea than you about the cause.
also, post some screenshots of your bbs and battery screens to help anyone who might like to help you out.

Thanks for replying!
Googling brought me somewhat inconclusive results about rogue apps and 2 year old maps settings.
I've just reinstalled GSAM (I read somewhere that BBS can contribute to issues) and I'll upload some screencaps at the end of today's battery life.

Ok, so these stats got reset due to restarting my phone today. Overall battery performance to this point is over 14Hr give or take. 4G was turned off most of today due to a 4G mast being faulty near my workplace so overall performance was actually slightly better than it has been lately, but still way worse than it used to be.
Screencaps!

Main concern is that wakelock, it's almost 1/4 of my uptime!
Chrome at 7% is almost suspect, but uninstall Facebook just to get some cleaner results. Use the browser version in mean time... f that app, but that's just my opinion.

Facebook cannot be uninstalled. I've always had it on in the past, even when I used to get really good performance. I think it's been bad since the latest HTC update.
I have disabled all syncing of FB and twitter with HTC services this morning and am only synching google with Mail, Contacts, Calendar and appdata. So far, no improvements today.
Did you restart after disabling these? In advanced Wifi settings is Scanning Always Available unchecked? BTW a little BAM_DMUX_WAKELOCK is normal. Just not hours.
IDK man, everything I can find on this points to a rouge app or service using your radio. Feedback seems to point to a mix of everything from BT to 3rd party app syncing. I think you're going to have to get linear with your troubleshooting. Go app by app and disable, wait and see if it improves.
Sorry man, this is an annoying one for sure.
