I don't know if anyone has seen this or possibly knows what it may be, it shows up in spare parts, network usage. I cannot click on it to see what it could be, get the force stop msg. Any help would be greatly appreciated, my battery life is absolutely horrible. Running fresh rom, slayers cyan dragon theme, tried several different kernels and nothing seems to help, also tried downgrading pri.
Thank You

I recently saw a post asking about the "0" and the horrific battery life. While no one ever figured out what it was, the op solved the issue by backing up his apps & data with titanium, flashing Calkulin's format all zip, then reflashing his rom & kernel. I think he slowly restored apps so he could watch for the issue coming back.
Try a search & you might come up with the thread. I would definitely try the format all zip, though.

Thank you, i've used it but instead of restoring my apps one by one and cking for battery drain, i've just been restoring them all. I'm definitely going to give that a shot, again, thank you.

Try reading the logcat file. Get alogcat from market. You'll see either a block or multiple calls to some apk.
You call also get autostarts from market and disallow activation of intentions / events which cause "hangs" (spinning waiting) from the apk you found in logcat.

Thank you, I'll try that also.

Widgets, Live wallpaper Messaging clients Or any other client that receive notifications from the internet Will have your battery murdered like a runaway slave.
Typically a battery is only good for 200 to 250 charges. If it was charge properly every time. Let's face it nobody even knows how to charge the battery properly.
*edit please add around 900 more to the above figures for li-ion batts. Figures I quoted were for standard rechargeables.
Also check that you're not constantly running wifi and bluetooth. 4 g and 3g modes eat more battery than 2 g mode. Do what I do disable all wireless connections not in use.
If you ever noticed the display eats most of your battery power. turn down the brightness whenever you can see the screen clearly.
Applications that stream data over the internet will eat your battery quickly.
That's about all I can think of. Well 1 more thing. Buy a new battery and see if that doesn't help. (try èbáÿ)
Sent from my HTC Magic using Tapatalk

Definitely thinking about buying a new battery, mine completely died about 3 weeks ago and I had a hell of a time to get it to pick up a charge again. That's probably my main problem I'm guessing. I just can't figure out the 0 in spare parts, network usage. I tried flashing a fresh version of fresh rom and individually reinstalling every app I had before, seemed to work for awhile, it didn't show back up. Waited awhile and reflashed Slayer's cyan theme and now it's back. Battery life was still **** before it showed up again though. Good advice and thank you, I believe I'll try a new battery.

You'll have to forgive me (i feel like an ass) I was in a hurry the other day. A UID under linux is a user I d. For general phone usage you should have 0 of these! Are you
using google admin?
If you have root try this in your terminal:

This file should not exist!

I will post logcat, I'll have to nand back, i've been trying a different rom(Destroyer rom) out since last night to see if it still appeared. I'm at a loss as to what it may be, the 0 hasn't appeared yet on this rom, it's an asop rom, not sure if it has anything to do with sense or not. I'll nand back to my original setup and post logcat or pm it to you would probably be better. Thank you

Can anybody tell me wtf is going on here? I tried searching here and wiping maps' cache, but it didn't change this problem. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling maps.

Kill the program. If you leave GPS on and that program runs it will suck battery like no other. Axe GPS and the program and it should go down.
If it doesn't, try reflashing the ROM after clearing everything...this might have also caused some problems
So i turned off gps and force closed maps.... still at 92%. I never had this problem with maps using myn's until maps v5.0.

ALSO, I turned off background data and force closed maps again, still at 82 percent of battery usage. I am just going to revert to an older version of maps. I feel like someone on here knows the answer and just isn't saying. I used to get 30+ hours on a battery charge, and that number has been cut in half now.

Yeah...people are going to this thread, reading about your issue and thinking to themselves, Hey, I know how to fix it but I don't think I will post my fix because _______.
Fill in the blank?
Yeah, well, that was a joke. But the problem remains. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this.
I was having the same issue too. I used it as an opportunity to try out a new ROM (CM 6.1.1), and have not had the problem with the new maps since.

I was thinking the same thing.... maybe the newest fresh, maybe CM. You've convinced me.
I just wanted to say that this is happening to me to. HTC EVO running the most recent official software. I was sent over here by a user on another message board, and there's at least 2 or 3 other posters who are having the problem.
I uninstalled the update, and went back to the version that the phone shipped with and it fixed the problem. Reinstalled 5.0 and there was no problem UNTIL I ran navigation in maps. Now it's doing the same thing again.
i have the same problem to on my HTC wildfire running on the most update official software. i tried reinstalling v5 but that didnt work for more then 3 houres. So now i deinstalled the updates and it works fine again.
anyone a better solution?
Dude, I had this EXACT same problem. Trust me, it's not Maps draining your battery. For some reason, it lists the last app used and puts it there. Later on, it will be Android System. I was scrambling. Killed the program, turned off auto sync, mobile data, etc. Nothing worked. Using the same rom and all.
Found out, my PRI and radios were not compatible with my build. Are you on 3.3? And using 1.9 PRI. It needs to be 1.7.
Check this out and see if that's the issue. If it is, fix that and you will be back to normal. Switching to CM really didn't fix your issue, just their rom with your build is compatible with those radios and PRI.

I have the very same problem. I haven't exactly solved it but Quickboot sure helped. Maps 5 is seriously flawed though. Even after GPS is off it still hogs the battery, ridiculous.

Well the symptoms that u describe are right, also saw my andriod system high in my battery usage list. However that was back to normal when maps whas up in the list. Now i use the maps without updates and i didnt use my phone much andriod systems is low and maps is not in the list.
I have no idea what radio and PRI do, and where to find which i have. Can u explain where to find some info and where i can see which i have in my phone?
Thanks

[Q] Battery Drain. Media Server NO SD card, Android System

So im getting some battery drain here and this phone is just 4 days old. I know time doesnt matter but im just saying ive given the battery some time to get better with the charges. First day i had to charge it twice, same with second day. Third day i disabled the CDMA/LTE radio and i had to briefly charge it.
Now today its been up for about 13 hours and its at 20% with mid-heavy usage. I dont think the battery is bad but i think IT COULD DO BETTER for a 2100mAh battery. Today i accidentally (from 8 am to 4 pm) ran with the CDMA/LTE setting on then i changed it to CDMA ONLY but battery was pretty much slightly better... I live in Puerto Rico so we are getting the new LTE Vision antennas soon here (decem 16. CANT WAIT) throughout the whole island
Something is weird... the first two days i noticed the battery drain so i noticed the SD card media server corrupt file bug but heres the thing... i took out my SD card and the media server process is still there :/ Shouldnt it have stopped? There is no more SD card for there to be a corrupt file problem. Also why is the Android process so high up on the list? should be about 85% screen and 15% the rest...
Any ideas why or who could be the culprit? I apologize for not using BetterBatteryStats as i havent purchased it and dont really intend on spending time on it. I love my phone just fine and i would hate to have to root it and install CM10.1 because i dont want to deal with updating my device every week because im OCD about updates.
Suggestions?
PS: i also run google now and Maps for latitude because i like sharing with my friends my location. Is latitude responsible for the whole Maps app battery usage? Is there a way for me to reduce it without manually having to update my location? Like in longer automatic intervals. Would disabling "report from this device" and "location reporting" turn off the latitude location sharing ?

unfortunately not, both are located somewhere inside the /system folder
as for BetterBatteryStats, there should be a thread here with an XDA version which is free for members
lastly, the 12/16 LTE launch is only for the south of the island, or so they've advertised (I could use it in Hato Rey, I've only gotten 1x for the past month and a half)
I know but wishful thinking about the LTE. Heard it should be island wise by February.
So I guess rooting is the best way to get rid of these Battery problems but then even if I stay on the stock ROM I won't be able to upgrade OTA (not that it's been mentioned anyways)
I think I've done my best to reduce the battery drain minus turning off the maps thing

Turned off automatic location settings because this is insane. And screen brightness is set to automatic. At this hour it shouldn't be too bright.

Extreme Bloatware Removal 4.1.2 Stock ROM Best Battery

I love the Note... the big screen, powerfull quad-core processor, 4G LTE... Huge 3,100mAh Battery... I like Samsung TW too...
But yes, that is all i use my phone for... CALL/TXT/WEB... VIDEO/GAMES PLAY... DOWNLOAD FILES AND MOVIES...
I dont use S Pen, dont make sketches or notes by hand, dont use Swipe or WiFi calling, I only synch my contacts with Google... nothing else... so i dont need any other features/elements of the stock 4.1.2 TW ROM so i deleted everything that isnt of use for me and that i know it wont crash the OS or give me FCs of the stuff i use...
Makes the ROM small and snappy, and gives me exelent battery life, almost next to none battery drain...
So before you bash me, consider that there are mybe other users just like me that dont need all the extra features running in the background, and want the best possible battery life...
I am posting screenshots of 4 pages Titanium Backup w the elements my ROM runs, 39 in total only, when you first load TB on a stock ROM it will read 250+ elements !!!
Before you freeze/delete anything, please make sure you wont need that service... for example, dont delete GoogleCalendarSynch if you use the calendar to make/synch notes and appointments...
You need some basic knowlege of what is what, and just freeze first and see if all your things you use are working properly...
I just decided to share the minimum elements to run properly the stock ROM and get the best battery with close to none drain when you dont use your phone...
OK, here is how my Titanium Backup looks like after i deleted every single element i do not use:

Hah yes sold the Blaze $170 got a nice Note 2 w 32GB card for $340, call it a good deal time to get me some LTE goodness i thinks haha.
I even factory reset the phone after deleted everything... to clear the caches and stuff...
Works just fine, the only thing i notice, i had to go to the Mobile Networks and change the APN name from the etc one to the fast, as i deleted all the pre config things from the ROM i assume it wasnt set automaticly, so phone didnt conected to the network automaticly...
Not sure if it was for the note 2 or note 1 but it was an aroma flash file that let u delete all the bloatware
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
this is really useful. good to know that all the com. stuff are useless and can be frozen. was there any list you went by to see what each element is for? i remember there was a list available when i was using the s2, but haven't seen one for the note 2.
does anyone know which ones are needed for wifi calling? i need to keep those.
and also my phone keeps thinking it's new and keeps giving me info on how to swipe to unlock phone after every restart, is there anyway to stop that? i removed most of the stuff like the op, but is having this issue. pretty much my only problem aside from wifi calling.
This interests me greatly and i'd like to know if you just freeze the unused apps or completely un install them\
EDIT:
nevermind no one answer that i figured things out sorry
So is it a list that gives whats safe to unistall i would to try this as well

Just setting this up in my note to see if it does what it claims
I'm not a fan of battery saver apps at all so I'm skeptical right off the bat
but this is from xiam... and it's free... and it has some interesting stuff packed In there so what the heck
it takes 4 days of "learning mode" before it starts battery savings based on your usage
anybody made it thru the 4 days yet?
I see people in the comments going from 10 hours to 18 hours battery life with moderate use but that doesn't make sense to me... This app looks like it's constructed to save battery when the phone is not in use and I don't really have that problem... i lay my phone down at night with 97% and I wake up in the morning with 96%.... how you gonna gimme 30% increase on 1% drain?
But I'm still curious anyway...
Thanks for giving it a test run for the rest of us. Looking forward to your results. I'm using Greenify now so a comparison would be cool.
Also if the guru works with system apps as well.

Me as well, plus I suddenly had an ad video play out of the blue. Uninstalled and never had another one . Can't say it was for sure the app, but never had one before or after.

So I've had it in my Note for 2 days now... not having any problems with lag or anything like that... still showing 1day 19hrs until the battery savings kick in based on learning mode... (funny reading the comments in the play store "had this running for 3 days and it doesn't help at all!!! Uninstalled!!!"... we'll duhhhh... it never made it out of learning mode ya goofballs)
But anyways... i noticed my battery actually draining a bit quicker during this learning phase ... whatever... I'm just being patient and following the instructions and we'll see in a couple days how this plays out.
I installed also and am awaiting to see how it goes. I will post findings later also..

Okay I have passed the 4 day mark after installing this it does help a lil not much If you look in the apps form the aplication it only stops services on what you use the most so if yo inly open a few apps during the learning process its not going to do much but if you open every app you have constantly you will get a much better chance of the app stoping other services you may or may not need

Didn't do anything for me at all... but there's probly a good reason why...
i run my Note bare bones as it is... Beans ROM heavily Debloated... no sync apps running... no facebook/no twitter/no magazine etc... no location services running unless i need them for something... only thing that starts and syncs data would be an email app and Gmail ... this snapdragon app basically tries to save you battery whenever you are not using the phone but i already have mine set up to do that all the time anyway so it didn't help at all... basically just another app running all the damn time.
I would think this app is for the casual user who doesn't take command of their device in the first place (or doesn't know how) or has a bazillion things always running and can't be bothered always trying to control them all. Nothing to see here for the power user who's always on their device or users like me who stripped it all down to beast mode.

Same here for me. I just uninstalled it. I have rom toolbox and other things running also, so I am in the same category as you. It doesn't seem to do a whole ton for me and my device.
Guys thanks for the information. Looks like I will just stick to Greenify. Maybe I will recommend to my friends that don't root and know much about their phone.

Appalling battery performance, Wakelocks. Please help.

My M8 went from being the best phone I've ever had in terms of battery performance, to being utterly awful a few days back. I organised an exchange, but in the time I was waiting for the exchange to take place, a factory reset seemed to fix it. Still went with the exchange anyway.
I restored from HTC backup, and this one is having the same issue, battery wise. Also heating up sporadically. GSAM tells me I am getting an awful lot of BAM_DMUX_WAKELOCK and I've tried uninstalling apps, factory wiping and HTC restore, factory wiping and Google restore only, factory wiping and everything manually, and factory wiping and leaving it completely stock and nothing seems to make any difference.
Any ideas? It's bugging the hell out of me, I get about 12-16hrs of life with the phone barely being used now, whereas before I could get through a day of moderate to heavy use with more than half charge left.
Should I try another exchange?
assuming you Googled that wake lock...
What happens if you factory restore, don't install anything but the system app updates and turn off all of your Google account sync except for Gmail, app data and contacts?
I'm only trying to help you isolate the issue. I don't really have any more idea than you about the cause.
also, post some screenshots of your bbs and battery screens to help anyone who might like to help you out.

Thanks for replying!
Googling brought me somewhat inconclusive results about rogue apps and 2 year old maps settings.
I've just reinstalled GSAM (I read somewhere that BBS can contribute to issues) and I'll upload some screencaps at the end of today's battery life.

Ok, so these stats got reset due to restarting my phone today. Overall battery performance to this point is over 14Hr give or take. 4G was turned off most of today due to a 4G mast being faulty near my workplace so overall performance was actually slightly better than it has been lately, but still way worse than it used to be.
Screencaps!

Facebook cannot be uninstalled. I've always had it on in the past, even when I used to get really good performance. I think it's been bad since the latest HTC update.
I have disabled all syncing of FB and twitter with HTC services this morning and am only synching google with Mail, Contacts, Calendar and appdata. So far, no improvements today.
Did you restart after disabling these? In advanced Wifi settings is Scanning Always Available unchecked? BTW a little BAM_DMUX_WAKELOCK is normal. Just not hours.
IDK man, everything I can find on this points to a rouge app or service using your radio. Feedback seems to point to a mix of everything from BT to 3rd party app syncing. I think you're going to have to get linear with your troubleshooting. Go app by app and disable, wait and see if it improves.
Sorry man, this is an annoying one for sure.
