Is it just me or does it seem kinda like a PITA that you cant turn an alarm off unless you have the desk clock open? I dont keep the desk clock open unless i have my phone plugged in over night, sometimes i forget my charger if im staying at a friends house and need an alarm on, the only way i figured out how to turn it off is by rebooting the phone.... is there another way? or maybe a setting i can switch so i dont have to turn the phone off?
My guess if you are using a sense rim and aosp lockscreen. You can go to the market and download alarm plus its free and works good or you can find the aosp clock apk and use it

that i honestly could not say never used it on evo on my motorola droid it worked great. I use the alaram plus that from the market it is reliable and if you still want to use the sence like colck you can use fancy widget clock from the market or here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853832 and link the aosp clock or alaram plus clock to it.

Ok, so for those of us who hate the the Sense lockscreen and removed that abomination, i came up with a workaround for the alarm. This is my first time attempting to help the community, please be easy on me
So here's the situation, i removed the Sense lockscreen so i could have the vanilla android lockscreen (more useful). Two problems arised:
1. The lockscreen is transparent, and honnestly i don't mind, but i know some of us don't like it
2. The 1st alarm (i.e. when the screen is locked) cannot be dismissed, since it is tied with the Sense lockscreen, so we would have to wait for the reminder with the screen unlocked, or set the alarm one minute ahead so we can dismiss it when it goes off again...
As you can see, that's not a very convenient solution, so i thought of an alternative and it worked it's pretty straight forward as it involves removing the htc clock app and reinstalling the DeskClock.apk.
Here's what i did:
1) went in root manager and removed HtcClockWidget.apk and ClockWidget.apk
2) installed DeskClock.apk (included below)
3) restarted the phone
There you have it, the stock android clock may not be as cool as the htc one, but it gets the job done and takes care of the "1st-alarm-in-the-morning-waking-up-the-whole-house-because-it-wont-shut-up" thing!
Hope it helps!
hey - thanks for that. Same thing happened to me (woke up the whole house!) so this is great.
does the DeskClock take care of the transparent lockscreen as well?
Or just install a 3rd party alarm app from the market
I use "alarming"
Does the aosp Deskclock app have a timer function yet? Because that's yet another issue for me xD

Unfortunately no timer. The only thing i miss about the htc alarm is the way you could set the time.

It doesn't take care of the transparency, but i can live with that. I guess we have to wait until some talented dev figures out a way to fix this
I have the latest Fresh rom installed on my EVO with the vanilla lock + vanilla clock. I use my phone as an alarm clock and used it for the first time this morning since installing Fresh. I use the alarm that is included with the htc flip clock widget. When the alarm went off this morning, I used the slider and the alarm would not turn off. It kept going off until I force closed the clock application.
Is there a way to get the vanilla lock screen to turn off the HTC alarm clock? I suppose I can use a 3rd party alarm clock, but I would prefer to use the one included with the phone.
Thanks!
One of the vanilla lock tweaks you can download from the fresh updater includes the correct clock for vanilla. I think it's vanilla lock +clock-wordclock or something like that.
Indeed...do not use the HTC clock. Use the vanilla clock from the updater.

Thank you gentlemen. I do believe I am sorted.
even with the fresh updater, i am unable to get this to install, does anyone have the .zip?
You might have to do it manually in recovery. I think that's how I did it when fresh/dc and clockwork weren't playing nicely with each other.
I have searched but can't find answer.
Im running DC3.5 which is great but I can't find how to set an alarm. Where is the widget that included alarm and world time? I keep the phone on my nightstand in landscape mode but can no longer do that since the clock app is missing. And yes, ive tried the digital clock app/widget from the market and I do not like it.
Thanks.

Should be the HTC Clock widget aka the flip clock with weather. If its missing you might need to reflash DC. I've flashed DC several times and it was always there.

Im running beautiful widgets and have always been able to assign the htc clock/alarm widget to open when tapping on the clock. I also no longer have the app "clock" in my app list.

I stumbled upon it yesterday. It's in the menu as "Desktop Clock".
You most likely have them banned in DConfig. That allows you to see the vanilla lockscreen instead of the HTC default lockscreen.
I'm looking for a Sense style flip clock/weather widget to use with CM7. I know, since its AOSP, that thats a mighty high request. But heres my reasoning. Ive seen some ROM's and themes that use the Sense Clock widget on a Non-Sense build. And its not Beautiful Widgets or Fancy Widget. Its seems like its the same clock to a T. I would use BW, but I'm anal about my homescreen, and the fact the corners on so sharp on the BW is just ugly to me. I know theres physically no way to get Sense widgets on an AOSP build, but anyone know of any widgets that are exactly the same?
There is an older Fancy Widget apk floating around which is almost indistinguishable from the Sense flip clock.

thats awesome. would you know where i could find such a thing?
Just search for Sense Analog Clock on the Market and there are some nice ones and they are free. Mine shows Time, date, Internal memory free, RAM free, Battery temp, Battery % and weather. You can also download free skins for it to make it look the way you want it.
that ones not bad. but I remember the beautiful widgets looking almost exactly like the sense clock. anyone know where I can get this?

I sent you a PM.
EDIT: Actually for some reason, it isn't letting me send the PM. "Private Messaging is temporarily unavailable"
EDIT2: If you search teh Google for Fancy Widget v1.2.4 or Fancy Widget v1.3.0 -- I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.
I think fancy widgets is closer. If you get the pro, there are skins you can get that make it pretty much identical.
Here is a post with a bunch of themed fancy widget apks that close to the sense clock:

that's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

when you open your phone the weather items come at you almost like 3d.
Anyone know how to mod this to work on the SGS2 Touch? Would be truly awesome.

This requires HTC Sense. I worked on some of these in the past but until someone ports Sense to the Epic Touch your probably going to be out of luck.

That's more of a feature mod for HTC Sense. Hopefully, when swamp golbin gets his Epic Touch and ports sense we'll get to see that beautiful lockscreen
Try beautiful widgets. VERY nice to weather widget

Be Weather looks amazing. But I see it's using Weather Underground data. Since they were bought buy The Weather Channel Companies a couple weeks ago I bet they're going to stop support.
Thanks. Been using be weather. It is pretty awesome. I like the option to place weather in the status bar and drop down. Cool stuff.
Wish the original maker was still making this awesome weather lockscreen.
I tried it out and while it is pretty cool, I did not see an option for a transparent widget. Only way I can use a weather app with a widget on my homescreen since I want to see my wallpaper as well. Mind you I am talking about the free version. The pro might have it but I didn't want to pay to find out that such a widget did not exist for this app.
