Alarm workaround for those who removed the htc lockscreen! - Hero, G2 Touch Android Development

Ok, so for those of us who hate the the Sense lockscreen and removed that abomination, i came up with a workaround for the alarm. This is my first time attempting to help the community, please be easy on me
So here's the situation, i removed the Sense lockscreen so i could have the vanilla android lockscreen (more useful). Two problems arised:
1. The lockscreen is transparent, and honnestly i don't mind, but i know some of us don't like it
2. The 1st alarm (i.e. when the screen is locked) cannot be dismissed, since it is tied with the Sense lockscreen, so we would have to wait for the reminder with the screen unlocked, or set the alarm one minute ahead so we can dismiss it when it goes off again...
As you can see, that's not a very convenient solution, so i thought of an alternative and it worked it's pretty straight forward as it involves removing the htc clock app and reinstalling the DeskClock.apk.
Here's what i did:
1) went in root manager and removed HtcClockWidget.apk and ClockWidget.apk
2) installed DeskClock.apk (included below)
3) restarted the phone
There you have it, the stock android clock may not be as cool as the htc one, but it gets the job done and takes care of the "1st-alarm-in-the-morning-waking-up-the-whole-house-because-it-wont-shut-up" thing!
Hope it helps!

hey - thanks for that. Same thing happened to me (woke up the whole house!) so this is great.

does the DeskClock take care of the transparent lockscreen as well?

Or just install a 3rd party alarm app from the market
I use "alarming"

Does the aosp Deskclock app have a timer function yet? Because that's yet another issue for me xD

Unfortunately no timer. The only thing i miss about the htc alarm is the way you could set the time.

It doesn't take care of the transparency, but i can live with that. I guess we have to wait until some talented dev figures out a way to fix this

Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd system/app
rm HtcLockScreen.apk
rm HtcLockScreen.odex
reboot
This will give you the standard 2.1 lockscreen (Backup first, in case you want to go back)
It looks kinda odd, because the sense homescreen doesnt hide when lockscreen is up.
Thinks for the quick answer,
i'm try right now =)

Works perfecty !
Now, the 2nd step! Which apk is involved by the default lockscreen?
I wanna to edit it to 'fix' the background screen.
Regards.

it isn't a apk, its baked in the system...
All right, but is there any way that the lockscreen wallpaper not transparent?
Thanks

There's only two possibilities:
1. Change Rosie.apk to hide homescreen while lockscreen is up (unlikely as there are no sources available)
2. Change android framework lockscreen to completely darken background or use a wallpaper. (More likely as we have access to source from AOSP, alot of work though)
Please note that the default lockscreen will cause problems if you use Sense.
Like alarms not turning off because you can't slide it down (which is incorporated into the lockscreen)
Sense isn't really compatible with the Android lockscreen - no alarm turnoff as mentioned (which I found at 5am this morning, as did the rest of the house as I fumbled for the battery!) and the transparency.
Also, on AOSP Eclair the lockpattern replaces the lockscreen. On Sense, or Sense with the Eclair lockscreen, you have to unlock first and then put the pattern in which is a bit clunky
alarm workaround
The alarm thing has been very frustrating, but i finally got something working in my free time, here's what i did:
1) went in root manager and removed HtcClockWidget.apk and ClockWidget.apk
2) installed DeskClock.apk (included below)
3) restarted the phone

custom lock screens
If you want to try to get the code from AOSP check this one:
hxxp://stackoverflow.com/questions/2140964/android-lock-screen-source-code
A base to start from could be: hxxp://code.google.com/p/mylockforandroid/
(didn't actually tried myLock, and I think its not developed any further)
(Replace hxxp with http)

when I removed system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk in sanpei's legend_sense_ROM,I didn't get the eclair lockscreen,how can I fix it?
There seems to be a bug in legend based roms causing the default lock screen to display very messed up.
Not sure why, but hopefully now more people are noticing this someone can come up with a fix.

Weird Weather Issue when unlocking screen

Was running DC3.5. Flashed CM6.0 and still having the same behavior...
When unlocking the screen, i see a slight trace of an animated/live weather. Sort of like a sun/cloud. I can only see it vaguely though and I cant figure out what app its coming from.
Any ideas?
I'm running Beautiful Widget but the image I am seeing is like a live weather image of the sun and cloud parting ways.
Im stumped
I'm personally not using that widget but the widget I am using (Weather & Clock) has an addon with settings that animate upon unlock.
See attachment.
If you can't find it in running apps or something perhaps a complete wipe and reflash?

I owe you a beer!
I also have that widget but dont really use it as I prefer Beautiful Widgets but for some reason, not being enabled (the widget) those settings were still active. Unchecked that setting and all is well!
Thanks again!

Sense Rom without HTC lockscreen

Does anybody know of any Newsense RomĀ“s with the standart AOSP lockscreen..?
Hate the pulldown lockscreen the comes with sandart HTC Rom..!!
Widget locker will do what you want. Then you can chose and customize your lockscreen
Thanks for the answer Lennyz.
Is there a way to accomplish this without installing a new app? I.e. enabling Android's standard lock screen and disabling, preferably removing the HTC lock screen?
Remove the sense lockscreen apk before flashing the rom, this will give the stock lockscreen except when answering calls. There is however a chance it also masses up the alarm but I'm not sure about that.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thanks. The main reason why I was asking this was because I keep answering calls in my pocket. .
I currently use WidgetLocker and its great. I only wish there was an easy way to revert to stock lock screen without having to use third-party apps.
How do you answer calls in your pocket - magic legs?!?!
Never had an issue personally but I have a case

Question about the lockscreen clock

Hi! I'm pretty new to the rooting world and this GW is my very first Android smartphone. I rooted my phone and currently using stock rom. I would like to know if there's any way to remove the huge clock on the lock screen without downloading any lockscreen app. Is it possible to customize it like hide it or change the font to an invisible one? The huge clock is blocking my lockscreen wallpaper and I hate it. All help shall be well appreciated. Thanks!

I think that is very unlikely to change w/o using third party app. U can try Go Locker. It can let u to disable the clock and date on the lock screen. Besides,
it provides quite a lot of customized theme too.
Use Go Locker is the best way for me
I think u cant do that thing
Thanks for all your suggestions. Is it possible to use the go locker while using the tw app? i like tw because i like the default look of gingerbread.

[Q] alarm home screen widget need identification please :)

Hello fellow note 4 users i was watching a youtube video and saw an awesome widget with a clock, date and next alarm time. Anyone know what this is?
http://imgur.com/QHQe6tA
so i'm not sure which widget that is, but i saw nobody had responded yet. here's the app/widget i use, which does show the next alarm coming up (and has a lot of customizable options you may like also). the app is called Chronus (made by the same devs who created cLock for cyanogenmod). here's a screenshot of what it looks like on my homescreen. maybe someone else will be able to help you further.
also you may notice the alarm icon in the status bar also reflects what time the alarm is set for. that's an xposed module called DynamicAlarmIcon.
I love that xposed module! But i decided not to root this phone, dont want to to be stuck with the one tech that will check if my knox is tripped. Thanks anyways
