The keyboard on this phone is absolutely the best I've used, but fairly often, I accidentally press the enter key and send a text before it's completed. Facebook chat through the official app has the key set to just drop down a line; one has to press the soft "send" button to send a message into chat.
Is there any way to set this as the button's default behavior? Or maybe just for the messaging app? I'm using the SwiftKey Trial at the moment, and I couldn't find any sort of customization options.
Thanks in advance.

if you use Handcent, ChompSMS or the messaging app that comes with CM6 you can set "send on enter" on and off

Hi all,
Since I upgraded my T-Mobile ppc to 4.01.16 ENG Rom and 6.25.02 Radio, I have had bad experience on SMS sending. The sms I send is received by the recipients twice or trice and I am sure that I am charged with the extra sms. I have been thinking that my new radio version is not compatible to where I am (I am currently in Asia-Pacific/Philipines which uses GSM900/1800 but I am going to and from the US and Phil so I also need my device to be compatible with US network). I have been researching this forum and found out that radio downgrade is not possible and very dangerous for my device.
But now, I think I have found the real culprit. I always send messages through the 'mail' software (today panel and tap on 'no unread messages' part), of course through SMS. When I send the SMS and close the 'mail' software before before the message is sent (that is before the message sent icon on top appears), SMS is sent mutiple times. But when I wait the message sent icon to appear before I close the 'mail' software, the SMS is only sent once. I am very sure of this for I have observed this for quite some time already.
Is there an app or something to correct this? I need help for I am charged at least twice or trice for the SMS I send. Thanks a lot.
Try this method: Open Contacts, select the name and tap & hold on the name and select "Send SMS". Sometimes the s/w doesn't get the aknowledgement from the GSM network so it attempts to send it again.
Thanks Biso. Can you recommend a better software other than the 'mail' default program? Or can I make the mail program 'unclosable' so that it will on be minimized. I'm using SPB Pocket Plus so the 'x' button is closing the apps. I just want hte mail program to be also minimized ang the rest are closed. Thanks
Hi,
I don't prefer any other mail program than the standard one especially if you are connected to MS Exchange server. It's fully integrated with it, but for POP3 mail I heard that nPOPw is very good http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=839
As for minimizing the mail s/w, even tho I don't see any difference between closing and minimizing (except for on line s/w like MSN messenger), but with each task manager (I use Magic Button) you should find an option to assign the current window to "Keep Alive" flag. Then the x button will only minimize it (switch to the next window or Today if all off).
Thanks Biso. Just found out that SPB Pocket Plus has a 'minimize by gesture' feature which you can add to list the program you just want to minimize. And it works, when I just minimize the 'mail' software the sms I send is only sent once (recipient only receive it once). Thanks a lot. Guess this is a bug on T-Mobile WM2003 Rom?
I have had my TP2 on Orange UK for a while, recently upgraded to WM6.5, and have a couple of really frustrating problems:-
1. If an SMS message cannot be sent it goes into drafts and doesn't resend automatically. This is bad enough, but when I open it to try to resend it has my own mobile number as the recipient, so cannot simply press "send". The only way I can resend it is by selecting "menu" then "forward" and then re-entering the recipient. Unbelieveably frustrating!! Can anyone help please?
2. I'm a long time HTC WM user, and well used to the challenge of Phone contacts being difficult to navigate (however careful you may be when swiping the list, accidentally touching a contact for too long opens it, and when you press "Back" it takes you to the top of the list... this is rubbish!! I have about 300 contacts on my phone. On upgrading to 6.5 I now have a new "Contacts" icon in the start menu, which is obviously a different app. Its far more user friendly, better layout for my 50 yr old eyes and doesn't have the same issue of going "back", as pressing the "X" takes you back to where you were in the list. Is there any way you can use this as the default app for contacts in the phone menu?
I was texting while I was in Android the other day and I hit the enter key on the keyboard and it sent my message. I want to be able to do that in Windows mobile to make my texting more comfortable. Even if it was hitting alt enter that sent it I'd still be happy. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try a key mapper cab. There are several floating around here
I maybe missing a trick here, but on the contact cards my Desire there was an option to send messages (SMS) to a person's stored numbers. On my HOX, I only get the option to dial numbers. I cannot see any option to enable 'send message to number' on the HOX, has it been removed from Sense/ICS?
If you tap and hold your finger on the cellphone number you get a set of alternative actions, amongst which the possibility of sending a message (eitehr SMS or whatsupp in my case)
DOH! Thanks.
I always preach the "long press" to others and completely forgot to do it myself. Although, in my defence, it's not very obvious and I cannot find it in the manual.

To be honest, I did not find either when I read your message at first. I know that the long press should be the first option to check, but I always end up using it as a last resort
When you open the contact, there is a "message" icon on the right most side of the number...press it to compose message.

I must be going blind - I completely missed that as well - ha ha
Feel I'm missing some setting.
I can read sms's either in popup or notification drop-down and swipe away, BUT it keeps coming back. Not a heavy sms user but it annoys that the only way to get rid of it is to open messaging app and open sms there. I'm not in the humour now for trying 3rd party app as my sms use is small.
thanks:fingers-crossed:
Yes because you didnt open it
