Which is the best format to watch movies on DHD?
I am having little trouble with .avi files. The files work but the quality is not so good. MP-4 seem to work fine but in some cases it says that file is not playable. I want to know what is the best "FREE" software for converting video files to mp4 or to a format which best works on DHD?
Handbrake.
testing now
Handbrake works great. If your input video has a higher resolution that your DHD remember to change it to 800 x 480, or as close as you can.
The default iPod preset works fine.
Handbreak seems to be working fine. Thanx guys.
But I have one more issue. When I copy AVI films with letterbox (black bars at the top and bottome) the DHD simply strectches it. But since playback isn't so fine I have to convert them. However, DHD doesn't crop the black bars once the video is converted to mp4. Any way to get rid of them?
I have tried another software called Sothink Video Converter. Its a great software. It has option to stretch the video, but that just stretches everything (long faced people).
Within Handbrake, on the Picture Tab. You have Cropping on the right hand side.
With a little trial & error you can remove the black bars top & bottom.

I copied a number of MP3 files onto my Storage Card. These were ripped from CD and have no copy protection or DRM associated with them.
When I open Windows Media Player, it happily adds them to the library, but when I try to play the MP3s I get no sound. The ID3 tags display correctly, and the elapsed time counter changes, but I can hear nothing in my headphones.
What's really perplexing me is that, if I open the same files in MP3 Trimmer, they play fine and I can hear them.
Anybody have any ideas?
Also: is there a better MP3 player for the Touch HD than Media Player? The simpler the better for me ...
Could be something as simple as this:
I wanted to buy a wired speaker for my Touch HD. Went to a couple of shops and tried a couple of speakers, but none worked.
Finally went to carphone warehouse and tried a bluetooth one. First of all there was no sound, and then I realised that the "System Volume" was on silent.
E.g. Hit the volume rocker on the side of the Touch HD and you get shown the RING Volume...but at the top of the screen there is a tab for "SYSTEM"....make sure you check that the volume is up for both.
Hope this helps...
Make sure WMP isn't muted.
( see screenshot - click the little speaker next to the volume percentage)

Is the 1080p HD video resolution deliberately set at a width of 1088, or is it a fault? Personally I find it frustrating as it is causing problems when it comes to importing the videos for editing between devices. Is there anyway to change this other than decreasing the resolution to 720?
thats because mpeg2 uses 16x16 pixel blocks. so the real hd resolution of most hd videos is 1920x1088.
But it's not MPEG2. None of my 1080 content from other sources is 1088 in any format!
Not use the phone for video yet, but it will be very annoying if it does put out 1088!

Thanks N3m3515,
I don't dispute that technically the videos are encoded as you describe. It is however the first device I have encountered that actually outputs them at 1088. I guess the other devices I have crop the additional 8 lines and output 1080. I checked a video shot with the Xperia S last week and that is correctly outputting at the standard 1920 x 1080.
It is an inconvenience to have to bring video shot on the One X into another program to re-encode them into regular 1080 to then edit. So I am having to shoot in 720, which just feels wrong when it should be Full HD.

Only thing I could think of is either put it all in one folder so you only see one in gallery or delete it (of course you wouldn't have it in music player then ).

I highly recommend you download "QuickPic". By far the best Gallery viewer I've seen so far.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder&hl=en
In the app, their is an option to "hide" folders. Thats what I did so I wouldn't have to see all my album covers
All my music is in my extsdcard directory.
Also, most of the album art is embedded in the MP3 tags rather than a separate image in a folder, so I do not have this issue.

Hello guys, please help!!!!!!!!
Today a made a video with my phone, with some of my classmates...I rewatched my video on the phone, it was fine.... When I got home, I wanted to move it to a 64GB pendrive with USB. Okay, everything was fine, UNTIL someone called me... I didn't answer the phone, trying not to corrupt the moving....... Okay, so then it stuck at 88% then it went to 100% really slow....... When I watch the video on my computer, it looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I was like omg, what happened......The first 30-40 secs of the video is fine, I guess that f****ng call corrupted my video... I tried to add it to mkv with MkvMerge, I thought maybe the file format is not very well.
It gave me this problem:
Code:
Warning: 'L:\20150918_122840108.3gp' track 0: The AVC video track is missing the 'CTTS' atom for frame timecode offsets. However, AVC/h.264 allows frames to have more than the traditional one (for P frames) or two (for B frames) references to other frames. The timecodes for such frames will be out-of-order, and the 'CTTS' atom is needed for getting the timecodes right. As it is missing the timecodes for this track might be wrong. You should watch the resulting file and make sure that it looks like you expected it to.
I don't know guys, maybe someone can help me.. So, is it because that call???
ps: I moved it with Total Commander (for android).
