I copied a number of MP3 files onto my Storage Card. These were ripped from CD and have no copy protection or DRM associated with them.
When I open Windows Media Player, it happily adds them to the library, but when I try to play the MP3s I get no sound. The ID3 tags display correctly, and the elapsed time counter changes, but I can hear nothing in my headphones.
What's really perplexing me is that, if I open the same files in MP3 Trimmer, they play fine and I can hear them.
Anybody have any ideas?
Also: is there a better MP3 player for the Touch HD than Media Player? The simpler the better for me ...
Could be something as simple as this:
I wanted to buy a wired speaker for my Touch HD. Went to a couple of shops and tried a couple of speakers, but none worked.
Finally went to carphone warehouse and tried a bluetooth one. First of all there was no sound, and then I realised that the "System Volume" was on silent.
E.g. Hit the volume rocker on the side of the Touch HD and you get shown the RING Volume...but at the top of the screen there is a tab for "SYSTEM"....make sure you check that the volume is up for both.
Hope this helps...
Make sure WMP isn't muted.
( see screenshot - click the little speaker next to the volume percentage)

I have a SilverCrest Bluetooth Stereoheadset 9300 (Probably a Toshiba Bluetooth headset)

The Toshiba:
It looks the same and has the same accessories with it. So I guess it is the same but that doesn't mathers with my problem
I'm running the cooked WM6 Rom from adewidt (dutch). I have added the headset as an "stereo headset" and as an "handsfree-set" (together). But how can I let the music play by the headset? The first time when I make the sync between the headset and phone, I can listen music on it. But how can I connect to it when I want? If I turn on the headset and activate my bluetooth, it won't make a connection automatically. (my bluetrek G2 headset does make a connection on its own when I turn it on)
And when the headset is connected, it can just suddenly stop playing music. And when I change from song, it adds a half a sec/ a hole sec pauze to it.
So to summarize my question.
- How can I reconnect to the headset?
- Why can it just stop playing my music
- Why is there a pauze between the songs
anyone?

On most roms, you can't... I've tried one that it worked to connect and play as it should... On everyone else, the music skips...

Use this for connect/reconnect:

And this helps if the music stops/pauses:

While shopping for headsets this afternoon, I found myself chatting with one of the sales in an audio shop for a while. Described the problem to him, how any earphones with an inline mic automatically sound "radio-y" unless the button is pressed down. Immediately he pulled out a plug and told me it's because manufacturers might have switched the positives and negatives, and that this plug can "switch" it back. He sold it to me for around US$4 (Might have been ripped off, but I was too happy to have found a solution to care).
Tested with (my brand new shiny) Skull Candy Full Metal Jacket. Button works in answering calls and mic seems to work as well. Weirdly, mic only works in native call, but not skype calls. (Still need more testing on that) Only play/pause is supported in DoubleTwist (not tested on other audio players), and next/previous tracks don't seem to work. Combo was probably recognized (otherwise music would have stopped, I'd imagine), I guess that's software problem now.
Yeah, I know I'm not saying much helpful here, but that might be something that you would want to look for. "switching positives and negatives". Not sure what that means myself, but meh, it works!

Any chance for a part number or name. I'm having trouble finding this for myself

Sent from my X10i TripNMiUI using XDA App
Background: Carbonite Mobile only allows files saved/downloaded to device to be accessed via their app / saved files option.
Problem: I have saved MP3 audio books to my device.* When I click on one, I am only presented with 2 app choices: Google Music & VLC.
"Smart Audiobook Player" is not an option:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ak.alizandro.smartaudiobookplayer
See attached screen shots.
This is a problem because "Smart Audiobook Player" has features specific to listening to audiobooks (saving playback position within an MP3) that other apps don't have.
I assume that there is something that determines which apps are associated with which file types.
On a rooted device, can this be changed?
Is there some piece of metadata in the MP3 that will identify it as an audiobook vs a music file?
NOTE: I looked in the 'reset default apps' menu in Settings > Apps ..
Pls see attached screen shots.
Thanks!

I've got a Zenfone 2 ZE550ML running CM13 latest nightly, I'm trying to play music to a Audio FX DAC-X6 and the Cynanogen Audio-FX app recognizes that through USB OTG like this:

However nothing plays audio through it, no apps, not even Kodi with passthrough enabled, nothing will play music through the DAC. I've even tried installing Viper Audio Engine (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/mod-viper-audio-engine-t3292254) that didn't work either.
When I use music apps like AIMP, Foobar, and the native Cynanogen one it plays the song with no sound outputting anywhere but it is actually trying to play the song, judging by the progress through the song.
I've updated to the latest nightly and nothing seems to want to make it work.
I've also disabled the option to prevent audio playing through the USB in the developer options, also tried with and without ADB, rebooted with it plugged in and out and various other configurations.
I have also tried using my friend's Zenfone 4 with a Stock Asus ROM which plays sound perfectly fine with any music player every time.
Does CM13 just not support DAC/USB Audio at this point in time?
My S20+ has had this problem almost as long as I've had my vehicle (with Ford sync 3). For whatever reason, if I take an incoming call on Bluetooth, about 80% of the time, there is no audio - I can't hear them and they can't hear me.
To troubleshoot I have to switch to speaker, then we can both hear each other.
If I'm on Android auto (wired), I have to unplug, then hit speaker.
My wife's Galaxy S21 ultra never does this.
It never happens on outgoing calls.
It seems equally likely to happen whether I'm using the phone for Bluetooth media (podcast app, separate music app both seem equally likely) or not using it for audio at all (i.e. Just listening to the radio)
It seems equally likely to happen whether I'm on Android auto (wired) or just connected to Bluetooth the old school way.
The only commonality is that it's on incoming calls on Bluetooth. I've been unable to identify what factor is different on those rare occasions when it does work
Twice I've tried completely unpairing and starting fresh. That seems to work, temporarily. But eventually it goes back to its old ways, so this is not a solution.
Are there a few developer options I may want to try checking on or off to see if they'll help? I don't want to go messing with that stuff unless it's recommended by someone here. Any other ideas?
