My phone will not boot up. How then would I put a file on the root of my sd card if i cant boot the phone up to turn it to "data transfer". I am rooted by the way.
Take your sd card out of your phone and put it in your computer. If you don't have a micro sd adapter you can get one at Best Buy for 10 bucks. They have one in the mobile phone section that allows you to put the micro sd card into a usb key or into a full size sd card for accessing it from your computer.

Why is it that sometimes I can create a gold card, using the Gold card tool, sometimes I cant?
Right after the Gold card Tool says "successful. now D: is a goldcard", when I change from Disk Drive to Charge Only, the phone can't detect the SD card.
I've tried 3 different SD card.
When I pull the SD card out & put it directly into the laptop, it says the SD card is not formatted.
Formatting the SD card will help the phone accept the SD card again, but if I try to create the gold card again, same thing happens.
Is it the ROM? or is it the apps installed causing conflict? weird...
Please advice,
D
I have a big problem and am wondering if anyone can help me. My evo won't read my sd card. Is there a way I can unroot without using my sd card?
Is it the evo or is it the SD card?
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
It's definitely the microsd card. I put the microsd card into the sdcard adapter and put it into my laptops memory slot and could open it up. I need to unroot it to take it back to the sprint store to get a new one.

If it's "definitely the microSD card" then why would you need to unroot your EVO? Sprint is not going to give you a new EVO for an SD card problem. If anything, they will simply exchange the SD card. Of course, I'm only speculating. Anyway, if you're certain it is the SD card and can read it from your laptop, how about copying the contents of the card onto your laptop and then repartition and reformat it via your laptop. Afterwards, copy the contents back to your SD card, reinsert it in your EVO and reboot.
sorry meant to say definitely not the sd card.
No problem.......Still, I would copy the contents of the card to the laptop and then repartition and reformat it. Afterwards, I would copy the files back to the card and reboot the EVO. Also, connect your device to your laptop, boot into recovery, select the MS-USB option and see if you can see the card from your laptop. If you can, download the SECOND file from this link -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php? t=884060 -- copy it to your SD card and flash it from within recovery.

when i connect the phone to pc via usb it opens the sd card folder normally. after a while the folders dissappear and when i go to my computer it shows no usb device. the sd card unmounts on itself after a while which prevents me from copying anything of more than maybe 25mb to the sd card.
I have same problem. The only workaround is to put your sd card into a card reader adapter to put into your usb plug.

usb problem, srsly try a diff one
is there anyway to recover the internal sd card? if it is the external sd card, i can just put it out and plug it in on my computer's card reader... and use any recovery program.. but it's not possible to do it with internal sd card as the card was inside the phone.. i tried plugging the phone to the computer through the usb cable but the recovery program wont detect the card even though the computer did.. so any help will be very appreciated.. thx
didn't find the answer through search. if i installed an sd card and used it as an sd card and not an extension of phone memeory, can i remove the card and copy the files to my computer. install a new larger memory card and format as internal memory then drag and drop the sd card files from my pc back onto the phone without a problem?
Yes. Just turn the phone off when you take out / insert the card to be safe.
