when i connect the phone to pc via usb it opens the sd card folder normally. after a while the folders dissappear and when i go to my computer it shows no usb device. the sd card unmounts on itself after a while which prevents me from copying anything of more than maybe 25mb to the sd card.
I have same problem. The only workaround is to put your sd card into a card reader adapter to put into your usb plug.

My phone will not boot up. How then would I put a file on the root of my sd card if i cant boot the phone up to turn it to "data transfer". I am rooted by the way.
Take your sd card out of your phone and put it in your computer. If you don't have a micro sd adapter you can get one at Best Buy for 10 bucks. They have one in the mobile phone section that allows you to put the micro sd card into a usb key or into a full size sd card for accessing it from your computer.
I never really noticed this before but if I remove card from phone and use a usb card reader the drive is not shown? Windows shows the card reader but when I click on it it says no drive found?
Or is the only way to see sdcard files is by connecting phone via usb? What happens if phone breaks?
No you don't have to use usb from phone.
Maybe the card reader isn't compatible.
I use sd card adapters and have lots of em but some won't work with my sd card.
Also try a different usb port.
Try a different sd card with the usb reader to see if it works

is there anyway to recover the internal sd card? if it is the external sd card, i can just put it out and plug it in on my computer's card reader... and use any recovery program.. but it's not possible to do it with internal sd card as the card was inside the phone.. i tried plugging the phone to the computer through the usb cable but the recovery program wont detect the card even though the computer did.. so any help will be very appreciated.. thx
Any one have freezes moving files from PC to the note 3 SD card via USB cable going very slow for me and sometimes need to unplug my cable from the USB PC port.have a sandisk 64 gb micro sd card class 10 by the way.never had this problem on my older phones.
I had that issue, turned out that one file I had transferred to the note was corrupted and I couldn't even deleted it via the computer or from file explorer on the phone. Ended up doing a format on the SD card and everything worked fine again.
When I connect phone to PC and enable MTP I don't see SD Card in Explorer, only internal storage. Phone can access the card just fine. How to fix this?
EDIT: SD Card was faulty.
