Hi all,i have just rooted with unrevoked 3.21,did a nandroid backup and titanium backup and would like to install custom rom.I used rom manager, flashed clockworkmod recovery via the option there and put the rom zip in root of sd card and select install rom from sd card. When i select start to backup current rom and wipe data and cache,it boots into recovery and then a exclamation mark with yellow triangle pops up and stayed there.I pressed the power button and out comes and error saying ....invalid update argument??and installation was aborted.i was able to boot back into phone...
pls help//
Thanks!!
Did you already toggle signature verification? If not you can either flash the rom yourself from recovery or (also in recovery) toggle signature verification to get rom manager working.
so i must toggle to disable?how abt the exclaimation mark?i read that it is the stock recovery?
Not 100% sure but when i first rooted i tough i also head the exclamation mark even tho i had clockwork mod, did you try to boot in to recovery manually?
its my first time flashing new rom too..i did not try to flash via recovery option as i heard rom manager is safer..so flash via recovery?
Would've been wiser to have read up on everything before rooting
well,i did read up before rooting..still new to all these..i googled my problem and cant seem to find solution..
If you had read up you'd know how to flash a custom ROM as guides include both at the same time. Go read the rooting guide in the Dev section, covers everything you need to know
ok i am back from more reading..pls correct me if i m wrong..
some users had the same error as me...exclamation mark when booting into recovery..a suggestion was to flash cwm again in rom manager as sometimes it does stick when using unrevoked root method?

So I don't want to unroot. I have amonra, clockwork, and rom manager. When I boot into recovery it goes straight to ra recovery, I have to flash the update.zip to get to clockwork. I would just like it to boot straight to clockwork or to remove ra
I installed rom manager the other day and updated to the latest version thinking that would overide ra when booting to recovery from rom manager, only for ra to come up saying 'bad' update.
I know this will more than likely be simple, I have done a few searches but not found much apart from unrooting.

you need to re run unrevoked and untick use custom recovery so it flashes clockwork or use custom and select a clockwork recovery of choice
its in the clockworkmod thread in the dev section and the amonRA thread
please read them
Hello!
You need to unrevoked again....Downolad unrevoked for your phone, BEFORE to plug your phone to your computer go in the up left corner and choose your recovery , wich can be amonra or clockwork mod, let computer do the job and voila! You are donne
Thanks you very much dudes. I was a total noob to all things root when I did mine and just followed steps from a mate. I couldn't remember how RA got on there. Cheers

Hey, so I hope you guys check this. I tried running the unrevoked again.
Only for it to seemingly get right to the end and attempt root (I thought it was just going to reflash and slap the clockwork in there) for it to say Error: failed to get root - Is your firmware too new?
Is there an easy way around this? Or is it the rom I am running??
I haveOxygen-20. RC6

You don't get 2 recoveries. If you 'fake flash' using ROM Manager it'll lose CWM instead of your normal recovery
You could try to S-OFF with AlphaRev iso (which will also update the recovery to CWM-AlphaRev 2.5.1.8 with dark blue color)
When you are S-OFF you can update the recovery with fastboot
If you don't want or cannot do all this, you could try to fake flash the CMW 3.2 recovery when you need it.
Fake flash means to load another recovery (3.2) while in recovery (2.5) by simply applying a zip file. You then have all the feature of the 3.2 recovery without permanently installing it.
1) put the zip with 3.2 recovery on your SD card (zip in thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1039954)
2) boot in recovery
3) apply the zip (like you would flash a rom, but it only loads the 3.2 recovery operating system without removing/deleting any file in your phone). You should notice the text color change and a few more options in the menu.
4) enjoy
Fake Flash is more or less what what Rom Manager is doing when you use it to reboot in recovery mode (but it only supports a restricted set of recovery versions that have been tuned to work with Rom Manager).
Another benefit of fake flash is that you can still use your old nandroid backups, as it it not recommended to restore with recovery X a backup made with recovery Y.
earlier, i managed to brick my defy by first deleting google talk and then using terminal emulator to push the google talk back in system apps.
after flashing a stock sbf through rsdlite, i got my phone working again. my problem started when i flashed another rom (followed instructions from pay's rom tutorial). i was able to flash the sbf file, then root using superoneclick, then install clockwork mod (downloaded the apk and installed manually). i rebooted after cmw install just to be sure and when rebooting to cm recovery only a blank screen shows. i was puzzled as on m original 2.51 rom before, the clockworkmod recovery screen shows up when i reboot in recovery. i tried installing other stock roms (nordic froyo), the problem still persists (blank screen). it also seems to have affected the standard recovery (volume down+power), after showing the exclamation mark with the android guy, no matter where i press on the screen nothing happens, whereas before pressing on the lower right hand screen brings up the menu. what did i screw up this time?
i needed cm recovery to work for i can't flash custom roms without it. any help would be much appreciated. thanks
I had the same problem with clockworkmod so I installed the 2nd init recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212 and used clockwork mod from its recovery menu.
I think the problem was caused by installing clockwork mod with USB debugging enabled.

so should i try uninstalling clockworkmod and install again? this time un-enabled usb debugging?
what exactly is a 2nd init recovery?do i just flash this over the existing sbf?
sorry for the questions, am still a newbie when flashing defy.
to access stock recovery when the android appears press vol down + up at the same time, my touch screen didnt work in recovery before either
once you can access stock recovery wipe data/factory reset, and flash a new ROM fresh
Hello. I have a big problem,
will install a 4.3 rom recovery ppr
follow the step indicated
rom and gaps
and change the TWRP recovery
I did not like it or not the recovery rom
that the recovery did not give me the option to make the Buckup
So if before you change rom had a Buckup
the rom that had the att & t
and recovery after you install that I did not mention the option of installing the Buckup
is to try to uninstall the recovery but I could
freegee install to install your original recovery nothing
try with rom manager and not
the latter will install over it a recovery that apparently did not correspond
and now the phone every time you turn it off completely restarts I get the android and restarts and I have to re- install all applications and accounts
I have no video player
I read the videos that I have on the external sd
try to follow the tutorials to walk dela letter that you sent me
nstalarle try flashtool official firmware
and nothing gives me error 19 % complete
not to do
I'm desperate
Hi! I have encountered a problem, and really hope someone can help me!
Two days ago i flashed Omnirom Nightly on my n7105 to get Android 4.4. I was running cmw recovery but couldnt get the ota updates to work, so i was trying to flash open recovery instead. I used an apk that was supposed to install a script.
When i rebootet my phone, all i could get was the Note 2 boot image. It wont boot into recovery mode, or the rom. I am however able to boot into download mode.
Custom Binary download: Yes (4 counts).
Current binary: Custom
System Status: Custom.
How should i proceed? I've already tried to reflash cwm recovery, which did work, but didnt solve the problem. I am currently downloading stock firmware, but the file is 1.2 GB so it will take i while. Figured i should ask here in the meanwhile.
I'm not an expert at Android at all, im just a guy enjoying having custom roms and playing around a little. I do know that there are a lot of very talented people in this forum, and i really hope someone can help me find a solution. I've been googling for hours, but cant find anything that seems to work for me / or i dont fully understand and wont risk try before someone approves it.
Thank you, Vetle
EDIT: Is it correct that i cant flash any custom rom trough Odin? Or could i just flash omnirom again trough Odin?
If i manage to flash the stock rom and the bootloop goes away, will everything go back to normal, so i can flash cmw again and then a custom rom again?
No custom rom can be flashed through odin, as most of them are zip cwm/twrp base.
When u can only go to download mode, an official firmware only can help u through odin.

Thanks for the answer!
Yup, i have flashed a stock rom now and i got the stock recovery. Everything was working fine.
Then i proceeded to do a factory reset in the stock recovery and flashed cwm trough Odin. When it was done, it wouldnt let me into recovery again! I can still boot up the phone tough.
I've also tried Open recovery. CWM via Rom manager. Open Recovery trough Goo Manager... Still cant get recovery to work, the stock rom works tough.
Any ideas?
Okay, i tried to flash the stock rom again and installed Rom Manger.
It still showes TWRP and CWM under installed recovery and i guess these its these two who makes the problem.
My plan now is to figure out how to completely remove them. I've never done anything related to adb before, so i hope it possible to remove them in another way?
This is so weird. Somehow i managed to install CWM Touch via Rom Manager and it booted. When i choose reboot /pull battery it will only boot straight into CWM again. I tried to flash TWRP via Odin, wich sucseeds, but then it reboots into CWM again!
I am soo lost its almost funny!
EDIT: Since i could get into cwm now, i tried to flash omnirom, but it aborts and all i get is status 7...?
EDIT2: Latest now is that i suddenly managed to install TWRP via Odin, but i still cant install the latest omnirom, all it says is "updating partition details".

I had recovery problems in the last few days also.
Installed DN3 rom using philz recovery, because its capable of prepare the phone to a new rom in a easy way.
It all went fine until first reboot.
I had a recovery boot loop. All I could see were some buttons and then reboot again.
Like you I had download access and flashed philz with Odin, but no luck.
Installed twrp via Odin and all was fine, and flashed philz new version.
Then I had to flash a new kernel (to be able to access wifi) and it all started again. Now I'm back on twrp.
Let's see what happens on my next flash.
My suggestion is to flash the recovery, and if that's OK flash the rom and use it
Next time you need recovery get Odin to help, but not all the way from an original rom. Just the custom recovery.
But if you want to get rid of your strange recovery configuration, and you are not already on new 4.3 recovery(which in your case could explain some of the problems you had) , with knox, install an older original rom, 4.1, and make all the steps, root it, install a custom recovery, and from there the room you want.
Reading your path sorting this problem, that was what would do next
Best regards
Hi guys.
I am unable to flash CWM or root my i9082. I followed the guide and even successfully installed cwm but when I boot into cwm it says no command found and automatically boots into stock recovery. Then when I tried to install rooting package from stock recovery it says E:Signature verification failed even though when i have not changed the name of the rooting package.
Can someone help me. I have Android 4.2.2 on my galaxy i9082 duos.
I even tried philz recovery but still same.
Thanks
Guys I have rooted and installed CWM successfully using this :

First of all..... you must place the "UPDATE-SuperSu-v1.25.zip" & "Fix-Recovery.zip" file in the root of external SD card....
While installing CWM using ODIN you must uncheck the "Auto reboot" option in the odin.....
after succesfull flashing of CWM remove the battery for 10 second and reinsert in after 10 sec....
now boot the phone in recovery using "vol up+home+power key" & not to the stock rom..... if you boot into rom.... the CWM will be automatically replaced by the stock recovery.....
after booting into CWM go to Install from SD card and flash the Fix-Recovery.Zip" first and then flash the super user....
and now you are done....
if you cant flash the fix recovery the after booting to rom it will again reverted to stock recovery...
hit THANKS if it helps you....
