Why isn't there a 6.1 stable Cyanogenmod for the inc? There is for every other phone...
I hope it is stable, im runnin 6.1, invisiblek#16 kernel, with 9.01 radio, and this thing seems stable as hell, and fast, consistently over 1500 on quadrant. maybe its your settings, this thing just works for what I need, and the people here were really helpful.
CM is managed by different people for difference devices. Koush is responsible for CM for the DINC, so we have to wait until he approves 6.1 stable.
You can always get the latest nightly here: http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=inc
..which are currently very close to the 6.1 found on other devices.
I have been checking that site every day for the 6.1 stable, but I imagine it will be out very soon.
Yeah Donny, don't get me wrong, all the CMods I have ran in the past have always been "stable" per se, and I love 6.1 RC2, I was just wondering about the ACTUAL stable 6.1.
Yeah I know that they are managed by different people, so Koush hasn't approved 6.1 stable? Like, are there a few Inc specific bugs or something?
I'm not sure how the specific approval system works, but it may be possible there is an INC specific bug. It's also possible that the INC version is just as stable as the others.
If there's one thing I learned from CM is that the "Stable" version is not always actually stable. For example the current 6.0.2 stable is much more broken than the 6.1 RC2.
If you're using 6.1 RC2 then I would recommend using the latest nightly for now, I'm personally using 175 and it's been stable for me so far, I haven't found any bugs (knock on wood).
Since the versions are so similar, it is not necessary to data reset/clear cache every time you upgrade the OS, so it's not a big hassle to update it once the actual version comes out.
Yeah I'm using the nightlies now. They are cool! FYI, the Gingerbread theme for CM Nightly is awesome! haha

Curious to know which CyanogenMod version you prefer, the older CM 6.1.1 Stable or the newer CM 7 Nightlies. Overall, I think they're both equally good, but for some reason I feel that my G2 is faster and obviously more stable on 6.1.1 than on the 7 nightlies. So far, there's nothing in CM 7 that is totally blowing me away, and since there are some of the expected issues (FCs, random reboots, etc) I'm considering going back to CM 6.
I'm loving nightly's. I love the excitement of getting to flash something everyday I do believe i may be suffering from ORD . And generally everything has seemed fast and stable. Not sure about battery life yet because I'm flashing on a daily basis.
Nightly's or CM6.1.1 everything cyanogen is awesome
i REALLY like the gingerbread text selection tool. Nightly is decently stable so yea.
I stick with the Stables (or at least the RC's [release candidates]).
I rely on my phone too much to have FC's or to have Navigation force close, or random reboots etc.
CM 7 by this point, i give, is certainly stable. From the tweets and rumors, i would expect a RC to be released soon.
But, i typically will wait for a stable release, unless there's some new feature that i just cannot wait for (this was the case from CM5 to CM6 where the camera was VASTLY improved). But i think as the OP stated, there's nothing incredible that i cant wait for a stable release for.
However, this post is purely subjective, and you will get ALL kinds of opinions. Every persons needs, and wants are completely different, and therefore you will likely get a wide variety of responses.
When I had my HD2 on WM6.5, I got used to flashing NRG's every few days...so I also got used to have scripts to back everything up.
With my Vibrant, TW's releases were not as frequent, and that was very much welcomed.
I'm finally enjoying a stable release (CM6.1.1) and am not sure I am ready to start flashing every day again.

Yeah, i love TB. It took me so freaking long to realize that I shouldn't just do a blanket restore on everything as the system files tend to get wonky. One thing I hated about Samsung (and the Vibrant) was that you had to Odin to stock before you flashed if you wanted a "clean" flash. Otherwise you get some hanging processes or stuff like that.
For everyone that is flashing the nightlies, are you guys restoring or doing any kind of wipe to stock before hand?

CM 6.1.1 here, thinking about trying out the nightlies, but I just hate having to re-do all my screen shortcut and widgets. Will probably wait till an RC.
I'm using CM 6.1.1 and I'm loving it, will wait for a more stable CM 7.
Started with CM6.1.1 but moved onto the CM7 Nightly's since Build 1. I keep up to date with every CM7 Nightly Build. What I have noticed based on benchmarking apps is that CM7 scores lower than CM6.1.1. This is with the updated Quadrant and SmartBench 2010 that is compatible with Gingerbread. The Quadrant score in my sig was with a early CM7 build and a non gingerbread optimized Quadrant. In day to day use I dont notice much speed difference though.
I ran with CM7 Nightlies for about a week, but I truly feel and believe that CM 6.1.1 Stable runs quicker and smoother than CM7. Because of that, I restored my nandroid backup of CM 6.1.1 Stable. Much happier with that.
Hi. I was think of trying CyanogenMod ROM. I went to their download page and notice there is things like nightly, stable and RC. what does these 3 means? Hmm...

Nightlies are in constant development, so they are updated "nightly" and have the latest features and can also have some bugs. RCs are considered to be stable enough for everyday use, imo the nightlies are also as I've been using them almost since the launch of CM7 and haven't got any overwhelming problems. The stable ones are, well stable ones But the stable ones are CM6 and based on android 2.2 so they are "old" in that sense.
I would encourage you to try the CM7 RC2 or even the latest nightly as they really are great and you won't actually notice that it still is a work in progress
Stable - The latest stable release, the current 6.1.3 is froyo based and should be useable as a daily rom with no major bugs and very few minor bugs.
Release Candidate RC - This is a proposed release candidate (current one is Gingerbread based) for the next stable release, it should be stable enough to use as a daily rom (indeed I have had no problems running it), there may be a few major bugs and more minor bugs than you would find in the stable release.
Nightly - these are releases based on the latest release ( can be either based on stable or RC, currently based on RC2 ), aimed at adding new features, which may or may not work, or providing bug fixes to features already present (which again may or may not work).
Currently RC 2 is feature locked, therefore the nightlies are aimed at bugfixing or polishing features already present in preparation for the next stable release, As such the nightlies should improve upon the current RC, although it's not unknown for bugfixes to break functionality in a major way.
I can highly recommend CM7 RC2 with the Battery drain fix (#5) by mad-murdock.
I've been running it for the last 2 days, after coming from Android Revolution 3. It's fast, stable, and very light-weight.
Camera and video recorders work, however they're not quite as polished as the HTC versions.
Before the Battery drain fix, the battery life was terrible, however now it's better than Android Revolution.
Currently have 62% battery remaining, 13 hours after removing it from the charger.
OOO. Alright. THank you!

The thread with information and a link to #5 patch is here. I've been running that for several days and it's great even with the latest nightly build. There are a couple of caveats so reading the thread will help.

Any noticeable differences between RC2 and the latest nightly?
The only bug I've noticed with RC2 so far is the occasional freezing in landscape mode after finishing a call. Easily resolved by locking and unlocking the rotation though, so hasn't been an issue.

I haven't noticed any new issues that aren't already in RC2. And with Mad's #5 battery patch idle power consumption is about 1% per hour, but you can use that on RC2 too.

PLEASE READ BEFORE VOTING: Just wanted to see what the general consensus was about which ROM is best for everyday use, and for new guys trying out a new ROM, this is a good starting point on what to try first. I agree, most ROMs update often (sometimes daily!) and even though one update may break a thing or two, the general usability of that ROM usually maintains the same.
Now, when voting for this poll, remember to take account usability in an everyday environment, not full-fledged feature comparison. Some ROMs can't record 720p and most ICS ROMs have no (not even partial) HWA and can't use video camera. But these things are things most of us can live without. So when voting, please take into account the basics: If the phone works, if messages work, if you can use Wi-Fi properly, if 3G works, if phone reboots too often or not, if the ROMs runs stable and smooth or if it lags and locks up, battery life, photo camera works or not.
After taking into account usability, take into account features. For example, if you feel there is a CM9 ROM that runs as stable and usable as another CM7 ROM, choose the CM9
Please vote for ROMs you personally have tried, and not for ROMs you "heard" work well. More than one choice can be selected because you may feel more than one ROM was working well enough to be used daily.
Note: I started making the poll including only CM variations, and decided to include other ROMs in the mix (which I'm not sure are based off of CM material), so I just decided to leave CM7 for any Gingerbread based ROM and CM9 for any Ice Cream Sandwich based ROM
DISCLAIMER: This is by any means no reason to diminish some developer's work, but is instead intended for the average guy who doesn't have all day to be flashing new ROMs everytime a new build comes out.
Nice of you guys to vote, but unless someone posts anything, this thread will just get forgotten.. So I'll take the plunge...

Well, Quark's GB CM9 is my daily ROM. It is pretty stable AND usable since 0805 if you blacklist HWUI for some apps.
I really don't see any point why I should go back to stock or CM7.
Considering the rules of poll:
1-CM7
2-MS2Ginger
3-CM9
Since 0805 cm9 i think I'll never come back to a GB rom

Quarx-cm9 from May 11... seems very stable.
I'm using the quarx 120506 (May 6th) and it's pretty stable.
I was having some issues with previous CM9 versions from Quarx and Epsylon, like Bluetooth issues, crashing apps, slower camera, reboots and so on.
This is with no doubt the best CM9 so far (i didn't tested yet the versions from days 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 (may)).
When I have time I'll update to 11th may version to see what have been improved.
I´ve started trying ROMs since i did my register, and that´s a few things i could say about ´em
Gigglebread´s builds of CM7 are the best for me in terms of daily use.
- fast
- stable
- well customized
(i can´t remember of any bug or FC in a little while since i started using it)
120508_v2 Defy+ Quarx´s build of CM9 are the closest of a daily use ROM of all the ones i´ve been testing (so far)
- fastest CM9 i´ve ever tried (after installing Apex Launcher)
- stable (phonecalls, sms, wi-fi, 3g, sensors, camera, gps ...)
- still little buggy with camcorder, and the panomara doesn´t work for me
ps:I ALWAYS do a full wipe before swapping from cm7 to cm9 roms and i always flash my stock SBF before getting back to cm7.
I don´t use chrome, for me dolphin browser mini is enough.

Hi everyone.
I had cyanogenmod 7 installed on HTC desire z for some time.
I decided to try out the unofficial cyanogenmod 9 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492461
At first it was great but since then it has become unstable. Programs regularly lock up for a long period when opening them or crash all out.
I cleared the cache partition last week and it improved things but its already back to how bad it was.
I'm considering going back to cyanogenmod 7
Before I go back to cyanogenmod 7 I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I can solve my issues. I could try a different cyanogenmod 9 ROM or a cyanogenmod 10 ROM but I'm wondering what you think. does anyone have any experience with any of these.
t-mobile g2 on 10.1 cm andromadus vision 12
i am t-mobile g2 on 10.1 cm andromadus vision 12. the performance has been stable but very slow. the fault is the outdated hardware. but CM 10.1 (JB 4.2.1) strikes me as an awesome build. if you want jelly bean, try it. :good:
if you want speed, let me know what you find. i am about to leave this build because the slowness is crippling (causes me to make errors in usage). i don't know where to go, but it seems like aosp is possibly the democratic choice... i continue to seek a recommend. will migrate in coming days. will report back. :fingers-crossed:
these cm people are pious saints. have informed vatican to beautify but was informed that i have no vote since i am dothead. :cyclops: so be it. amen. :silly:

actually, i flashed Gen Y Vision X R3 on the G2. it has been a pretty good experience: slow but stable. i have now bought an htc one. so, i will leave you to try out the Gen Y ROM. really liked it. love this place cho muchy!
My opinion after playing around with a bunch of 4.0+ ROM's yesterday, since the G2 is now my backup phone. You want reliability and responsiveness/speed; stick with Gingerbread 2.3 ROMs (latest CM7 Nightly, ILWT, and etc). You want 4.0+ (as a daily driver) get a new device, which is why I got a Nexus 4 personally. A G2 with 4.0+ doesn't even compare to one running Gingerbread 2.3.
A properly setup CM7 ROM is perfect. KBreezie SD-EXT mod, V6 Supercharger w/ KAK & Multitasking Mod. This setup was running @ 806mhz with about twice as many apps as I was running on the 4.0+ ROMs. Result is it was faster than any 4.0 ROM that were clocked at 1.5ghz, so much so that you would think you were on a new device.

Yeah I was under the impression that moving to CM9 would be faster but in practice I find its a hell of a lot slower than CM7 and its no where near stable. I like the UI improvements that come with the latest android but thats really no big deal, I'd rather have a fast and stable phone.
I'm looking to get a new phone but I like the physical keyboard and no one seems to be doing one like that at the moment. So for now I think I'll stick to cyanogenmod 7
I would too recommend to stick to CM 7.2 for now. After some much flashing of radios (felt dangerois) and a brief flash of a Sense 4.0a rom (to get accelerometers working) I finally have a pretty decent JB setup. The andromadus flinny 10.1 B19 is working quite OK, but CM 7.2 admittedly has more RAM available and is faster, I had it clocked ad 24x->1506 MHz and it was rock solid.
Earlier when I tested the B18 flinny build I suddenly lost my camera. This combined with missing accelerometers had me almost going back to 7.2. Then a friend of mine noted that B19 was out, so I had to try that.
The B18 had some occasional lagging, while B19 is now my choice. I'm willing to take the speed penalty though.
I suggest You try both, and the You decide yourself.
I'm using Flinny Andromadus CM10.1 (JellyBean 4.2.2) and it is working great, no overclocking needed. Phone is fast. I of course wiped my data but pics/vids were still saved. JB is truly an amazing OS... a lot of new widgets and features that I never knew the G2 would ever see... I highly suggest you try it out. You can always back up your data using Clockwork Recovery mode.
You can DL the zip here: http://andromadus.flinny.org/?q=node/34 <-- They have a build as of 4/10/2013 :good:
Hello.
I'm looking for a fast, stable and batterysaving everyday ROM for my Defy+ (red lens) phone.
This is NOT a 'best rom' question, I just want some input to find a ROM among all these GREAT options which is best suited for my needs. As there are loads of ROMs and versions, I'm hoping somebody else have been in my position and have a ROM to recommend!
I have tried Mokee, which was very fast, but a little buggy (dialer FC-ed when 3g) and not very well supported (yet) on Defy+.
Before that I ran the newest Quarx CM10 4.1.2 nightlies, but most of them have some irritating bugs (Wifi ch 11 not working, ringtone bug etc), and I don't want the hassle of having to upgrade the phone every week.
CM9, CM10, I really don't care as long as it is fast and stable.
Before that I ran the Pikachu-rom from TweetyPeety. It looked very nice, but developement is not continued and besides the not-so-great speed there were some bugs unfortunately.
Today I tried the newest CM9 (12-11-18) from Epsilon, but the batterydrain was bad compared to Mokee.
Thanks!

If you want a STABLE rom for DEFY than only back to stock GB and MS2G or CM7.
I have also tried many of the CM10 but if Reability, Speed and Battery is TOP agenda than only GB for now.
