[Q] Need a recommandation for a fast and stable ROM - Defy General

Hello.
I'm looking for a fast, stable and batterysaving everyday ROM for my Defy+ (red lens) phone.
This is NOT a 'best rom' question, I just want some input to find a ROM among all these GREAT options which is best suited for my needs. As there are loads of ROMs and versions, I'm hoping somebody else have been in my position and have a ROM to recommend!
I have tried Mokee, which was very fast, but a little buggy (dialer FC-ed when 3g) and not very well supported (yet) on Defy+.
Before that I ran the newest Quarx CM10 4.1.2 nightlies, but most of them have some irritating bugs (Wifi ch 11 not working, ringtone bug etc), and I don't want the hassle of having to upgrade the phone every week.
CM9, CM10, I really don't care as long as it is fast and stable.
Before that I ran the Pikachu-rom from TweetyPeety. It looked very nice, but developement is not continued and besides the not-so-great speed there were some bugs unfortunately.
Today I tried the newest CM9 (12-11-18) from Epsilon, but the batterydrain was bad compared to Mokee.
Thanks!

If you want a STABLE rom for DEFY than only back to stock GB and MS2G or CM7.
I have also tried many of the CM10 but if Reability, Speed and Battery is TOP agenda than only GB for now.

Best ROM right now for Desire?

I have tested 4-5 roms, and all have some problems.
What is the perfect ROM now? Not HD.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
There is no perfect rom, there is only a rom you like best. Other people can tell you what they prefer but that does not have to apply to your preferences.
If you want to see what the most popular rom there is a poll some were in general.

did u try Leedroid?
It's all up to you. I'm using Oxygen 2.0 and I love it. It's missing the video camera function until the N1 OTA update but I have never used that anyways so I'm more than happy with it.
I personally use MIUI, brilliant rom but confusing updates, they realease new software all the time to its virtually bug free for me.
It has too many features to list, i find something new and by the time i found all the extras they release another update.
Try MIUI, its like a iphone but you can easily change the theme.
Battery life is somethin else and im using there stock kernel, 17 hours, sync on, wifi on, auto brightness (actually works) and mild to heavy use.
I'll try MIUI
Tried LeeDroid, MIUI, Oxygen (1.0 and 2.0), VillainROM, GinerVillain, SuperVillain, DeFrost, CM6, CM7, Ginger Redux, Amethyst. To be honest, I currently have CM7 installed but I am constantly changing ROMs anyway. CM7 to me actually works the best out of the Gingerbreads. I would say that if you want speed, stick with MIUI if you installed it since I got 2135 score in Quadrant (MIUI 1.1.12). But it is up to you. There is NEVER the "best" ROM.
i have tried about 10 different roms and i think insertcoin for hd is nice also leedroid is very good and fast
for me starburst, it is very stable, almost no issues at all. stock sense rom + the magnificent data2sd. i used to flash a rom once in a while, but now..im sticking to starburst. maybe its for a long time.
The op should be more specific in what he looks for, is it sense, non-sense or miui rom?
I find Sense ROMs more appealing than other two, and my favorites are Leedroid and AuraxTSense.
Leedroid is very fast, I used it for more than a month, but found that some memory leaks are happening to me and a few other users. It is a deal breaker for me at this time since the phone becomes unusable when it happens until rebooted, so I swinged back to AuraxTSense. It's performance is also admirable, it boots somewhat longer, but at this time it seems more reliable than the Leedroid. Both are equally fast and snappy in operation. Also snq's kernel has some quirks at this time, the phone rebooting itself when connected to a car cradle, screen turning on during charge being some of them for example.

CM7 Every Build till now has major issues at the moment (major for me for some none) as MMS and VPN don't work.
I am using the Redux-RC2.1 running gingerbread 2.3.2 in a very smooth way - highly recommended. VPN issue hasemt been solved yet but should be in the upcoming RC3 coming soon from the developer. MMS is not an issue and working great

Yes it works!
I've been using HiApk for a while now, loving it's speed. It's problem free so far.
Leedroid and AuraxTSense.
In my opinion there is a perfect rom.. Oxygenrom
It has a very fast and stable base, perfect power menu configuration
All functions like camera and gps work proper and rom feels really smooth
Depends on what appeals to you but personally, AurxTremeGinger or Reflex S do it for me.
Asking what the best rom is, is like asking what the best car is.
I found Redux v1.2 is a brilliant Rom Clean, fast and stable.
At the moment I test the InsertCoin v17 Rom and I found also it is a very nice Rom.
There is no perfect rom at the moment...
- Froyo sense roms are the most stable (Leedroid, Teppic's, AuraxTSense...) but they are not the fastest. (I think we can add HD/Z roms in this categorie)
- AOSP rom lack of some features like 720p, FM radio, HTC apps and widgets ; there is also this endless call delay bug. Despite that, they are the fastest roms at the moment and they can be very minimalist (and I'm sure a lot of people like minimalist roms like DevNull or Oxygen)
- MIUI is quite interesting but settings menu are so slow.
- New Sense roms begin to grow up, but I think the fact we are porting RUU from other devices to our Desires affects the quality of those roms.

[POLL] Which ROM do YOU feel is best for everyday use

PLEASE READ BEFORE VOTING: Just wanted to see what the general consensus was about which ROM is best for everyday use, and for new guys trying out a new ROM, this is a good starting point on what to try first. I agree, most ROMs update often (sometimes daily!) and even though one update may break a thing or two, the general usability of that ROM usually maintains the same.
Now, when voting for this poll, remember to take account usability in an everyday environment, not full-fledged feature comparison. Some ROMs can't record 720p and most ICS ROMs have no (not even partial) HWA and can't use video camera. But these things are things most of us can live without. So when voting, please take into account the basics: If the phone works, if messages work, if you can use Wi-Fi properly, if 3G works, if phone reboots too often or not, if the ROMs runs stable and smooth or if it lags and locks up, battery life, photo camera works or not.
After taking into account usability, take into account features. For example, if you feel there is a CM9 ROM that runs as stable and usable as another CM7 ROM, choose the CM9
Please vote for ROMs you personally have tried, and not for ROMs you "heard" work well. More than one choice can be selected because you may feel more than one ROM was working well enough to be used daily.
Note: I started making the poll including only CM variations, and decided to include other ROMs in the mix (which I'm not sure are based off of CM material), so I just decided to leave CM7 for any Gingerbread based ROM and CM9 for any Ice Cream Sandwich based ROM
DISCLAIMER: This is by any means no reason to diminish some developer's work, but is instead intended for the average guy who doesn't have all day to be flashing new ROMs everytime a new build comes out.
Nice of you guys to vote, but unless someone posts anything, this thread will just get forgotten.. So I'll take the plunge...

Well, Quark's GB CM9 is my daily ROM. It is pretty stable AND usable since 0805 if you blacklist HWUI for some apps.
I really don't see any point why I should go back to stock or CM7.
Considering the rules of poll:
1-CM7
2-MS2Ginger
3-CM9
Since 0805 cm9 i think I'll never come back to a GB rom

Quarx-cm9 from May 11... seems very stable.
I'm using the quarx 120506 (May 6th) and it's pretty stable.
I was having some issues with previous CM9 versions from Quarx and Epsylon, like Bluetooth issues, crashing apps, slower camera, reboots and so on.
This is with no doubt the best CM9 so far (i didn't tested yet the versions from days 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 (may)).
When I have time I'll update to 11th may version to see what have been improved.
I´ve started trying ROMs since i did my register, and that´s a few things i could say about ´em
Gigglebread´s builds of CM7 are the best for me in terms of daily use.
- fast
- stable
- well customized
(i can´t remember of any bug or FC in a little while since i started using it)
120508_v2 Defy+ Quarx´s build of CM9 are the closest of a daily use ROM of all the ones i´ve been testing (so far)
- fastest CM9 i´ve ever tried (after installing Apex Launcher)
- stable (phonecalls, sms, wi-fi, 3g, sensors, camera, gps ...)
- still little buggy with camcorder, and the panomara doesn´t work for me
ps:I ALWAYS do a full wipe before swapping from cm7 to cm9 roms and i always flash my stock SBF before getting back to cm7.
I don´t use chrome, for me dolphin browser mini is enough.

Best Android 4.0 ICS rom for Desire

As the title says, i´d like to know which one is the best ICS rom for you. The CM9,sandvolds or Nikez Lente ?
Edit: Sorry forgot to mention AOKP opinions on this rom also welcome
There's AOKP missing there. Not sure if they gonna burn you alive for creating this but anyway.
It depends. You should try all of them to find the best for your device and for your expectations
I tryed all of them and didn't find best one...
The most featured is AOKP, it has a lot of easy-to-use settings, great notification bar and very functional lockscreen, weather integration. But almost every day of usage I've got one sleep of death.
More stable ROM for my device is Chromium, but this ROM has not published on xda. Pity. Another thing about Chromium - I really miss all features of AOKP in the ROM. On mine Desire it works almost a week without BSOD or SOD.
Try, and you'll find what you need

It's really fast and stable, aroma installer with options, customizable lockscreen and notification bar, themes, nice camera and more. For me the most valuable is stability.
It's from spanish forum http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=309312
But now it's down, I don't know why. You can use google web cache.

Both included as well as others.
The only thing is that in aroma installer only spanish is available. But nevermind, it is intuitively obvious
Lente without doubt.
Was on Sandvold's most of the way but 0.15 was bugged and slowing down too much
BCM never liked my phone for some reason
Nikez lente is the King.

I've used Sandvolds since 0.12 and it was very promissing (and still is). Unfortunately, the last two releases have known bugs (wifi, 3g, some apps do not work) ad the ROM has become much slower. So, I decided to try BCM, installed the latest version of and I'm nicely surprised. Everything works smoothly and quickly, no problems with wifi, 3g, bluetooth etc. I use it for a week and so far no problems.
Running BCM quite successfully, but with the same occasional radio crashes I had with cm7.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
For me it is Sandvolds or Elelinux.
I use for over a week Sanvold's 0.15. It's very good, except that every time i close the wifi the signal is off and needs to restart the phone. Hope this solved in the comming update . . .
Im using one of the Slim version. It is, so far, awesome.
--
I've treid Nikez Lente, CM9 and Sandvold recently. I have to say Sandvold seems the most polished and quick, maybe due to included V6 Supercharger. CM9 was the best in terms of added funcinallity, but I think itwas more laggy a slow than Lente or Sandvold. Lente is very good as well, very close to the original ICS, I prefer the Sandvold however.

Sandvolds ics rocks!
So is there a stable rom? (Stable meaning it will run 100h+ without reboot/SOD/whatever, no wifi/3g bugs, i don't care if OCing to 2.5GHZ doesn't work)
I don't know anything about the desire but my friend got one for himself because his iPhone was stolen. I myself own a Nexus S and i loved ICS, JB seems to be even better now I'm thinking if he doesn't like the feel of HTC Sense and Froyo/GB I might help him flash ICS if it's worth the trouble. Since he used to be an iPhone user he probably doesn't want to get dirt on his hands, so he won't be able to revert or flash something else and I don't want to have to switch ROMs for him every time he finds a bug.
BTW I spent about 1-2h reading the desire forum about flashing and stuff, it's really confusing I have to say, so if anybody could explain to me what hboot is and what the proper procedure is to flash a ROM i'd be very happy. I've only had phones with unlocked bootloaders so far so I know my way around CWM but that's about it...

[Q] Fast, smooth ROM

Hi,
I'm looking for fast and smooth ROM. I've already looked into development section and I was interested by Crane ROM and Enhanced. Do you have experiences with these two ROMs? Which one is better? Which from these uses less RAM memory?
Special question? Have these ROMs Czech language (I mean Czech localization and QWERTZ keyboard?)
Thanks for any answers.
I think the Adrenaline Rom from voetbalremco is the smoothest and fastest.
choice rappooks
I've tried DroidGIO v1. Worked like a charm. V2 seems not to be so smooth for me.
Stock based ROM : Adrenaline (Enhanced236 is my second choice)
CM7 based ROM : Phiexz 7.2 latest nightly
CM9 / CM10 based ROM are not yet fully usable daily IMHO.
go for Droidgio V2.2, its the best cm7 based rom out there
I've made a switch from Phiexz to DroidGio, the last one is even better.:good:
movfan & phurya :
I haven't tested this ROM (neither v1 nor v2).
Could you explain in a few words what is better in DroidGio than in Phiexz ?
By the way I don't think battery or stability could be better, because they are already perfect in Phiexz.
Functionalities I guess ... ?
Tks ;o)

When i was on vacation, the last Phiexz rom became unstable.
Now i've already used the xperia launcher, so it was the obvious choice changing to Droidgio.
The previous roms had some errors, but they were all removed, and now its error free.
Now i must say that i'm not a power user, but for me the rom is more responsive, and the battery is even better.
Give it a try, you can always switch back if you don't like it.
I will flash Phiexz CM 7.2. Thanks a lot guys
Just tested DroidGio 2.2 ...
This ROM cannot be compared to Adrenaline or Phiexz as far as smoothness is concerned.
After 10mn playing around, I have to switch back.
In addition, there are some bugs (among others, in Call interface numbers are not aligned with underlying grid, vibrate mode is not retained between reboot, etc ...).
For somebody who wants a bugfree & smooth ROM, DroidGio is not acceptable.

Damn, man!
You found two tiniest bug which you can experience like once in a month, and that means that droidgio isn't smooth and reliable.
I peronally think that droidgio v2.2 is one of the best, and maybe the best cm7 rom.
I don't say that phiexs's and adrenaline are bad, I'm just defending droidgio v2.2 because it's very good rom.
First of all, I didn't make any comment on reliability, because I haven't uses DroidGio 2.2 long enough to make comments on that particular point.
Second, you shouldn't use adjectives like "tiniest" when talking about bugs, because the level of annoyance is always relative to a specific user.
If you read the DEV section, you will find tones of posts about bugs that are considered "tiny" for someone, but "critical" for another ... and vice versa.
After 6 month under Adrenaline I cannot found a single bug (with my own usage).
After 10 minutes under DroidGio I found 2.
It is factual, peoples will judge from their own point of view / usage / expectations / tests.
Concerning smoothness, it could be that I've done something wrong, but I'm pretty comfortable changing ROMs, and I always make all steps to maximize success chances.
Factually again, I can assure you that in my own case, Adrenaline (and Phiexz in a lesser extent) is obviously smoother that DroidGio 2.2 (all things being equals).
Does all of that make DroidGio a bad ROM ?
Certainly not, it's a very good ROM that can be used daily without any problem.
Moreover, it is the last CM7 based ROM that is maintained (as Phiexz has apparently fully switched to CM10), and people looking for a CM7 ROM should definitely give it a try (among others )
Good job!
Thanks for explaining.
Well.... I have also tried a lot of ROMs but Phiexz CM7.2 seems to be right choice by now... (still awaiting for a stable CM9 or CM10)

[Q] AOSP 4.2 with highest performance

I'm using CodefireX AOSP but the latest stable release is from march and not that stable. Currently I have the SR12 release which is fine but sometimes slow and occasionally I get random reboots.
So I'm wondering is there any really smooth Jellybean ROM for the DHD? Without any flaws like apps not working, some features broken etc. I don't need any fancy add-ons, main priority is stable and fast. I was even thinking about going back to ARHD but I got used to the new GMail and other 4.x features so I'd rather stick with JB or ICS.
Or maybe the DHD is just to old for really smooth JB operation?
I know this question gets asked from time to time but with all the development that's still going on I think old threads are not that useful.

I would recommend CM10.1 RC1 works well and no FC or random reboots, I might try RC5 soon. I was using PipelinerArd last AOKP build before espmartin took the helm and that is also a great 4.2 ROM. If you can kill google maps with greenify and keep apps to a minimum that wake the phone in sleep then battery life can be 36hrs plus with average to good use. Games will still kill the battery because the screen sucks a lot of juice.
I recommand you also the Mustaavalkosta CyanogenMod 10.1 RC5 is the most stable and powerfull ROM form DHD in 4.2.2.
