Thanks. I brought it from Netherlands will it go some problem?
What's was software version running on your phone when you first got it? The baseband is the radio and isn't important (yet)
what are the benifits of unrooting the device?
- Clean slate to start again
- Returning handset under warranty
- Just using the phone as it is as rooting isn't needed for what you use your phone for (my option)
origanial 2.2
I can't update the OTA, so I try to recover but still have the superuser
can use the offical rom

This statement is as helpful as a chocolate teapot. What version number were you running, e.g. 2.10.405.2?
Without that we can't advise which stock RUU to flash to get back to working
my version number is 2.10.405.2 !!!
And that is what it came with out of the box? Or is that what it's saying now?
I just want to unroot my desire and back to original rom, could you give me a clean room to set?
Without knowing the ROM it was running ON THE DAY YOUR BOUGHT IT we cannot recommend which to use
I bought at september the rom is basic 2.2
But what was the software version on the day you bought it?? That is what I'm trying to find out!?!?! e.g. 1.21.405.2
software:2.10.405.2
build number:2.10.405.2 CL226611 release-keys
kernel version:2.6.32.15-g6a358a9
And that was it the day you bought it? If so, download the 2.29.405.2 RUU in my signature (click it) and just run that from your Windows PC with your phone connected in FASTBOOT
yes,thank you

So what should be the first thing i do with my Htc Desire ?
Root?
rom testing? (your recomendation?)
or____?
Protect case. Froyo for a couple of days... If bored...root...custom rom. Find out if u like sense or not.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Protective case and a screen protector is a must have dont know if i should use zagg invisible shield or some other screen protector.
Brick it by rooting. Joking. See if you like it at stock if not root it and flash custom roms. Rooting it will add to your fun with the Desire!
Oh yes, definately a screen protector!
Rule Number 1:
Go to Settings>About phone>Software information and make a note of the software version on your phone, e.g. 2.10.405.2
Then go here and if the file that matches your version is available download it so you can always go back to stock if you need to
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo
Then, as said, just use the phone and see if you like it stock. If not, then you can root safe in the knowledge you can revert back should you need to

I just bought a used phone (desire). The software version is 1.15.405.4 and the Baseband version 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2. I check in http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo there is RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe. Can I use it as stock even the radio is different from my desire?
The used Desire has been rooted as the radio is from the later 1.21.405.2 ROM...
You're better off getting the 2.10.405.2 RUU as that's the latest one, no point going back to the first one!!

I tried to get the software update and yes, there is a software update 1.21.405.2 but after successful download, I think it is fail update the device. I got a device picture with ? mark and when I checked the software information, it is still 1.15.405.4. Can I install the RUU 1.21.405.2 from Shipped-roms and how to install it?
Yes you can, download it, make sure you're connected in HTC Sync and just run it...BUT you might as well get 2.10.405.2 as that's the latest one

Why do I need a gold card as I just want to update the device into the official RUU? Is the gold card just needed to root the device? Sorry about my questions, I am a newbie.
I've made a gold card and tried to flash the official RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe but always fail with a message ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR. What is that mean? How to check the gold card whether it is good/correct or not?
Hello!
I think the title says everything. I disabled the security on my Desire with alpharev (S-OFF). Now i want to enable it again (S-ON) because my phone needs repair...
I have no ideo how to do that.
Thank you in advance!

To be more specific...
You need to flash the RUU that your phone originally came with (assuming you did the clever thing and made a note of it before flashing a custom ROM)
Well , I have no note about the original RUU that my phone came with
I looked up this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
I think i have to use either
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U _4.05.00.11_release_121684.exe
or
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U _4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe
Am I right? Are there differences between these two?
They are the original ROMs so don't use them (wouldn't work anyway)
What software version are you on at present? Or you on a custom ROM?
Currently I have a custom Rom (InsertCoin HD 1.8f). But I want to revert everything inclusive unroot and restore the original rom (I made a nandroid of it).
Restore the nandroid and then post up the software version of it. We can then see which RUU you need
I restored the original software:
Android-Version:
2.2
Baseband-Version:
32.39.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel-Version:
2.6.32.15-g6a358a9 [email protected] #1
Build Nummer:
2.10.405.2 CL226611 release-keys
Software-Nummer:
2.10.405.2
Thank you so far!
OK, get this. It's the latest stock RUU:
http://www.multiupload.com/LEJCW182AH
Then boot the phone into FASTBOOT (turn on holding back button), connect to PC and run the RUU
Thank you for everything!
Everything is back to stock now and I can let it fixed (got the problem, that the phone always reboots)
Nice!
See how it goes now as it might fix itself. Obviously if it still reboots then send it back!
Glad to help
Unfortunately the problem might be the hardware. I tried different firmwares and sd cards and still the same problem I googled for the problem. There are many users sharing the same issue. The only thing that works is changing the mainboard, but thats no thing I can do on my own
Thanks a lot,it is useful for the new user
Hi
Just bought used desire.
Be4 I start getting to know it, I would like to know if there is a custom ROM flashed.
Software inf:
Android
2.2
Baseband ver.
32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version
2.6.32.15-g2633d94
Build number
2.33.161.2 CL284358 release keys
Softw. No
2.33.161.2
Is this a stock ROM? When I search for 2.33.161.2 in google it says something about Vodafone. Is it a stock Vodafone ROM?
Do I have custom ROM, was my phone rooted? I have superuser installed.
Thanks a lot for your help!!!!!!!!!!
It's the Vodafone ROM, stock is 2.29.405.5
If you've got the Superuser app then yes the phone has been rooted but left on the Vodafone ROM. If you turn the phone off, turn it on holding volume down, select recovery on the menu that comes up and you end up with Clockwork Mod/Amon RA then you're definitely rooted
Thanks a lot for your answer, yes it's rooted according to your G-L
Do I get it right that this Desire was bought in Vodafone UK and it was shipped with 2.29.405.5 stock ROM and this is just an update to 2.33.161.2?
+ Why would somebody ROOT the phone while keeping the stock ROM?
Thank you!!!!!!

First question: As far as i know, you got this right.
Second question: With root excess you can run some programs, which you cannot run without root excess (like adfree, root explorer or titanium backup). Furthermore, you can delete system apps. At last, you are able to make a complete backup of your phone. These are the most advantages of root for me. For some users, these advantages are enough. They do not need custom roms, because they are happy with the htc one.
And do not say thank you, use the button.
If the unit is on the Vodafone ROM it'll be a branded unit (unless the seller put the Vodafone ROM on it, which would be a bit strange). The vendor code is how it updates, e.g.
x.xx.405.x - this is the unbranded vendor code and will only get updates including the 405 - such 2.29.405.2, 2.29.405.5, etc
x.xx.161.x - this is the Vodafone UK vendor code and will only get updates including the 161
I would personally start completely from scratch
Then you know exactly what it has !!
I experienced the same thing as you, found superuser when i bought this second hand desire, but i actually didnt wait to ask, started reading and reading, then found my self trying to flash a custom rom...... hhhh like flashing stuff, as i had an OLD android device.
hi,
i'm new to this forum and only heard the best about it!
now before i root my desire and flash a custom rom, i want to make sure i can undo it in case of warranty...
so i'm searching for a RUU or just an original rom which i need to/can flash my desire with to get my warranty back.
can you help me?

baseband-version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
kernel-version: 2.6.32.15-g2633d94
[email protected] #1
build-nummer: 2.33.163.1 CL277878 release-keys
software-nummer: 2.33.163.1
browser-version: WebKit 3.1
i have already searched for it and took a look at this:

When you succesfully use REVOLUTIONARY to S-Off your phone, it will install clockworck mod recovery. When you have done that, you can then turn off your phone and enter Recovery mode by holdingg Vol - while pressing power on, then from there you can make a back-up of your phones ROM in its current state.
I was new to this too, it is quite daunting but after you've experienced your new ROM and have an idea of what you are doing you'll be very pleased with the improvements and new features you can get. Im using supernova Xtreme with Data2SD and its running smooth as silk with zero issues what so ever. I'd recommend you have a look at Revolutionary on the website(just google android revolutionary) and see there simple guide on rooting. Its a absolute breeze to use there software, had mine S-Off'ed in about 2 minutes.
thanks for your advice!
if i have any questions left, i will post again..

But restoring a nandroid won't take your warranty back, because your phone will be rooted still.
Take a look in an Austrian Android forum if your RUU is not in XDA.

that's what i was thinking about too...
i have used revolutionary now, so i could make a recovery BUT my desire is still not rooted i have only another recovery software (?)
so now i don't know: does my warranty still exist or not?
Mmmm I don't know the revolurionary method, but I think that if you have a custom recovery, you have to be root.
Evenwhen if you are not root, if you changed something from the original Software, probably you don't have any warranty now.
But it would be very strange that there's no RUU for you. If that is the case, if sometime you need your warranty, you can try to push an Official HTC RUU (the debranded one) and probably you'll have no problems. The technical assistence doesn't always look very deeply if you have done something to the software.
ok, thanks for your statement
Hi, i have just flashed a custom rom onto my HTC desire, but looks like the installation has not gone through fine, the phone tries to boot up but shows the same boot screen over and over with a screeching noice. I have flashed my phone with the following ROM:
LeeDrOiD_HD_V3.3.3_GB-Port-R5-A2SD. I now want to go back to my native ROM and am concerned if my phone is bricked. Can you please guide me through this.
Many thanks,

sure it doesn't work?
i have flashed the same rom as you.. the screeching noise could be the standard leedroid startup sound.. at first boot, it takes some minutes did you try just waiting about 15-20 minutes without doing anything? maybe it would boot correctly...
if not, i hope you've done a nandroid backup before flashing?
you should be able to flash the backup in recovery-mode..

Do you all know that it is nessecarily to downgrade your device ROM Software to Version 1.32 or 1.72??
You CAN NOT ROOT your device with Gingerbread or Android 2.x the easy way.
Check this and download your ROM 1.2x or 1.3x or 1.7x for your current provider.
Flash it - and after all ROOT it.
