I just got my incredible last Saturday cause I thought the Droid X was too laggy. Im a little bit familiar with rooting as I had my old g1 rooted and flashed a bunch of custom roms to that.
I've been researching the Droid incredible rooting process and think I wanna do it. But I have some questions first.
1. I'm currently on the latest OTA update. If I root, is there an easy way to go back to stock if I wanna claim warranty or download the gingerbread OTA when it comes out? If so how?
2. Is this stable for a rookie programmer to do? What are the odds i'll brick it?
Thanks for all your help in advance!

Unrevoked is simple. Couldn't be any easier really. Cake walk compared to rooting my D1.
Haven't gone back to stock on the incredible, but did it for a friend on the D1, and it was simple. I have seen people say that going back to stock on the Incredible is simple also.
As far as Gingerbread goes, we (rooted Incredibles) will most likely have it first, because of leaks. We already have several ROM's with the Gingerbread keyboard, and the ROM is sure to follow shortly.
I would suggest you Root. You wont regret it. The Dev's for the Incredible are fantastic. They are all making quality ROM's and you will love them. Guaranteed!
The only thing tricky in rooting the Incredible is the SLCD screen causes issues and you have to have a zip file on your SD card. The tutorial will link to it.

The only thing I'm worried about is if I have an SLCD or not and unrooting instructions. Every search I do only comes up with an unroot back to stock method for 2.1 eclair that doesn't work on froyo.

Well, the rooting Part is extremely easy. But, when using unrevoked make sure you select a custom recovery image, that works with sLCD incredibles (i have one), or else you can't see anything going on with it. (black screen white lines, driver issue). If you want ill post a link up. But I rooted mine the second day I had it, and this is my first smartphone period. And I took java 1 and 2 last year in highschool, so i am no programmer. Its incredibly easy.
Now, I havent come across anything, anything for unrooting. So, if you can wait, dont root.
And..pretty sure, when you get the Gingerbread OTA, it will unroot your phone, and bring it back to stock.

Yeah dude if you could post a link to that custom recovery so I could check it out id be awesome!

Just go for it and root it. I was worrying about it for months and then I did it and was rooted in 10 minutes and had a custom ROM installed within 2 hours WITH all my data restored.
Incidentally, I can easily recommend Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS4 ROM for Incredible http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809985
It's insanely fast and stable, and the overclocked kernel gets surprisingly good battery life. And, go through some of the extras for it in that thread if you take a look, some are quite handy like Hulu and the Supercircle battery.
Also, the flipclock actually flips

Will I be able to re SOn my device so I can claim warranty if it ever breaks after that unroot tutorial?
Sent from my Droid Incredible using the XDA app.
Should be a way on here, but if you treat your Incredible well/decently, it's not gonna break/a better phone will be out by then anyway. The benefits of root greatly outweigh the voided warranty. (My personal thoughts on "Manufacturer's Limited Warranties", however, could be an entire thread by themselves)

The only thing I'm really worried about is my warranty and being able to unroot back to stock if I need to send it in(i have a knack of bad luck of phones breaking for no reason and me breaking phones)
I treat my electronics well. I just don't have the money for a new 500 buck incredible . I'm a struggling 18 year old paying for college and a car as well.

Yes- first step in the tutorial is actually how to turn s-on if you so choose.
As far as the custom recovery image goes, here is the basic instructions from the first link posted regarding the recovery.
Step 3A- For those with SLCD screens (Sku ends in 3) start here:
NOTE- You'll see a black screen with white bars if you go into recovery. DO NOT PANIC- we're going to fix that right now by doing the following:
Unplug your phone and close the unrEVOked window.
Download the following file and extract it somewhere you will remember: http://dougpiston.com/files/Recovery...MG_cwm_mod.zip
Start the unrEVOked tool again and go to file -->custom recovery.
Select the recovery.img that you extracted.
Plug in phone (charge only), enable usb debugging and let the tool run.
Note: If tool hangs at waiting for reboot (safe to unplug), that's normal. Unplug the phone and plug it back it. The tool should now saw "complete".
Turn phone off and reboot into HBoot by pressing the power and volume - (down) buttons at the same time
Continue with instructions in Step 3B

Heh I bet I have less money..... 15 yr. old highschooler with no job and $25 every 2 months from my grandma
I've broken my fair share of electronics, and have had faulty ones; from what I've seen Incredibles are insanely reliable (though most modern smartphones are).
However, rooting isn't for everyone. Like it says in the root tutorial thread, don't root to be cool. Do it if you actually want/would use features of root, esp. custom ROMs.
I came from a sprint hero. and ended up with a Slcd DINC. After reading up rooting took all of like 5 mins. But I bet I have less money.. 3 girls in school. and a wife in RN school. Im the only one working, lol But then again. my cars and such are paid for. no bill outside the norm. and my cells..
Just ordered the seidio rugged case etc.. to protect my DINC... cant wait. cause I sure cant afford to buy a new one if it breaks.lol

Whats going on dudes i been in the heroc forum since launch and finally decided to let her go. I know im a tad bit late but I got my evo over xmas and just had some questions that I thought id ask before I even attempt to root; i have 30 days to return it. I done some searching and came across a few threads of common probs so im gaining some knowledge. What does this so called "light leakage" look like and what should I look for. I also saw something about some peoples phones not holding 4g; how long should It hold 4g before it drops? I did see some users mention hardware version; mine says 0004. Sorry if im asking to much i just dont want to get really settled in and start noticing problems and i have to take it back. So what should i really be looking for to make the call to take this sucker back before 30 days is up. Thanks in advance

I cannot answer any of your 4g questions because I do not have our where I live.
Light leakage issue is because the screen can separate from the body of the phone. Hard to explain what it looks like. Mine had it slightly but does not bother me.
Fyi...if you flash a aosp rom your camera will most likely not work. 4g and hdmi will not work either until cyanogen and teamdouche get it working. Should not be too long at all for 4g on cyanogenmod. A couple weeks or so I would GUESS.
Don't take your evo back. If you have anything else you have a question about feel free to pm me

Well I'm in love with the device already I think I somewhat understand light leakage as my hero might have suffered from this(if its the same thing). I live in Houston tx the 4g seems ok but mine dropped 1 or 2 times but that should be no biggie. Lastly, thanks for the warm welcome and help man.

Hey there and welcome. Definitely stay with the evo. It's off the chain. Make sure you find the proper way to root your hardware version. I've heard it can be a little tricky. After you root I suggest using Myn's Warm Rom. It's based off stock but has several goodies. Sprint hotspot is unlocked, it's fast and snappy. I use Myn with Calkulins new kernel. It gives you awesome battery life. If you need some assistance with anything don't hesitate to PM me. I'm more than willing to help. Hope you stay and enjoy the ride.

That's sounds awesome and exactly what I want to do. My main goal is just to get root access and keep rockin sense; I just want to be able to remove the bloatware really i.e sprint nascar, football etc and unlocking WiFi tether. Unfortunately my phone came with 2.2(651.1) so I can't root just yet I don't think but day #3 with my evo is freaking sweet.
Sent from my new EVO via Tapatalk app.
Mine came with 2.2 as well.that doesn't mean you can't root it.you can root all evo's. Like I said before it's going to matter what hardware you have. It really depends on your hboot version. Power off the phone then while holding down the volume button press and hold the power button till the screen comes on completely. Now at the top you can see your hboot version.search the forum on how to root your version. If you have trouble finding the correct way pm me with your hboot version as well a your hardware version. You can find that in settings under about phone.look for hardware info.then it will be a 4 digit# such as 0003.

I also just read that cyanogen got the camera working on hardware 0004 which is what my phone is and maybe yours. That means we can use cm6 or 7 and rock a vanilla rom.

Ive been reading on xda ever since i had a hero and rooted it using some guides on here and decided i would finally post lol. Upgraded my evo to e4gt on 28th of sept and havent looked back.
I rooted it last night using crawrj deodexed with busybox and its been running great so props for that. I have only experienced LOS twice since i have had my phone but those were instances that i was actually out of signal and it came back once i was out of the deadzone. So overall i love the e4gt compared to my evo .
Anyone else come from the evo to the e4gt? Also after rooting this phone any sweet mods that are must have yet? Thanks

I, too, came from the EVO4G to the E4GT. If you're having LoS issues try the LoST Kernel and if you wanna try a custom ROM try out Calkulin's (new but my favorite), ViperROM or StarBurst.

I came from EVO4G (which I absolutely loved) to EVO3D (HATED except for the 3D) to E4GT and this phone by far is the best one of all three.
I loved my evo 4g as well, my fiancee is using it now as i added a second line and moved my number to the new phone (e4gt) and gave her the evo . I do have a question, i odined this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282415
and i am trying to make sure this did not change my kernel. I was completely stock before this so by what i read in his thread i should still have the kernel the phone came with correct?
My next question is can i odin this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305099
which would be the same kernel i have at the moment but with root and cwm because i am currently rooted now correct?

The first one contains no kernel, so it's definitly stock, just rooted.
second is stock also.
Okay so the second one would keep root but add cwm. Thanks
okay so now i am rooted with cwm5 and stock pulled kernel with no yellow triangle on splash screen, thanks for the help guys
I started out with the HTC Hero as well, i upgraded to the HTC Evo and i loved it but i wanted the Evo Shift so not too much of a change there. But i got this phone about october 25 and i never looked back once, what an amazing phone this is, sure it feel like plastic but thats because they wanted a light weight phone.
I just rooted for the first time two nights ago and been having issues with media because of a file ".nomedia" that file tends to stop the SD scan so it skips over pictures, music and other things but since i removed it i can play music and see my pictures again except a few that the file locked them some how. but Since Calkulin came in the picture to E4GT that made the E4GT a much better phone :-D
Lol ya, i was kind of scared to root at first because of all the LOS reports after rooting but once they came out with the stock pulled with cwm its all good now really no reason not to root and boy do i love odin, makes life easy compared to when i first rooted the hero and evo by using command prompt and adb lol..... This phone is great, no actual LOS issues for me but i hope samsung/sprint release an update so everyone can enjoy the phone for what a beast it is.

lol i agree, i was thinking this odin stuff was going to be confusing, since i knew HTC phone used HTC sync for phone drivers. but when i found out needed samsung kies on the PC to get the drivers and started up odin it was a breeze, never thought rooting could be so easy. Since rooting the HTC Evo Shift from 2.3.3 was a PAIN where had to downgrade the Hboot.
I had one incident where i lost signal but that was the kernal i tested for a sec, i ended up going back to LoStKernelExp+ which is the bomb and glad Clakulin decided to use it.
I just came to the E4GT from the OG Evo myself, it's amazing. CM7 was nice but the blazing speed on this thing really is something to behold!
Guys OG Evo owner here myself... I still have both phone as I love them equally now. So I just flashed one of the OG Evos best developers roms... Caulkin is making roms for us guys so check it out here
The good ole days are back...lol
Going to get the E4GT today. Charging circuit went to hell on my EVO and it's way out of warranty. I can pay the $100 insurance deductible and get a refurbed EVO, or upgrade with $90 buyback on the EVO and get the E4GT for $110.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G with Tapatalk
For those of us OG Evo folks who moved to the E4GT, how do you root it without getting LOS?
I have never gotten LOS on my E4GT & that has been what has given me pause in rooting. i really miss TI backup & a few other pieces of software. Teather would be nice too (Granted the web browsing speeds are too damm slow to bother).
Anyone want to point me in an OG Evo friendly direction on what & how to do it all?
I am starting to feel like I might join the Verizon bandwagon with the NP. I am getting sick of the unusable data speeds.
Thanks,
Rich
check out my original post on this thread, it has both .tars that i used to odin onto my phone to get root+stock pulled kernel + CWM5 and you should be set. LOS is not really caused by root, its an underlying problem in the hardware/software from what ive read on the forum and some kernels can cause it to happen more often and others less often. I am using the stock pulled kernel which is the exact same that is on unrooted phones so if you get LOS with that you would have gotten it with no root as well.
Well i was sitting back wondering how i got into rooting phones and decided to post this, How did you guys get into modding, rooting phones and when you started?
Well i got into this just before i got my tablet, which was a coby kryos, and it wasnt very good and didnt have the android market, so i did some research and found a website, and proceeded to do this thing called rooting. after it was all said and done, i thought i was done messing around with the phone, but then i find out about this other OS that is android but runs a little better than the stock rooted OS. Called Cyanogen mod 7. followed the instructions and it worked. so i took it further and rooted my phone i had at the time, the intercept. Thus this addiction was formed.
Everyday i would look to see if there was an update for my phone. or a updated version of cm7. Once i found out that there wasnt really a big community for either the kyros or the intercept i decided to go to a galaxy phone. took my sisters upgrade and got the E4gT. and since then its almost been smooth sailing for rooting, etc.
Now i am to the point where i want to start developing roms and what not, just have to get the courage to start such a big project.
How did you guys start with this? Whats your story? Keep us occupied while we wait for source and leaks.
Well I started all the way back from the sony psp days, I was super desperate to play final fantasy 7 and wasn't willing to buy my 3rd ps2 just to play it and the thought of it being portable and play it anywhere is too good to pass up, then learned how to start flashing custom firmwares for it, then moved to jailbreaking ipod touches(yes I had three) but jailbreaking is annoying, i actually had to go leaps and bounds just to make it do what android is capable of as stock(play any videos format, flash content, download anything online, etc) so just decided to buy my first android the galaxy s fascinate(redhead step child of the galaxy s line) and now here
i went to sprint and i had the choise to get a I-SUCK OR A galaxyi got a galaxy never like apples i saw videos on youtube of people modding the galaxy so i gave a try and here im learning
well for started i almost bricked my phone the first day lol tell how i came here and i went to the galaxy s2 forum not epic 4g touch.. lucky i figure it out that i was in the wrong forum and i came here and use sfhub one click l29 since i follow his instruction never had a problem again...
My first android phone was the HTC Hero. It got a couple updates and the last one sucked. It was horrible. Phone was super laggy and froze all the time. By then Gingerbread was out and Spirit said the phone would not run it. Did some research here on XDA and found people running GB who said the phone was much faster and more responsive. Did a bunch more reading to make sure I knew what I was doing and flashed a GB Rom. It was much better and had all kinds of new features.
Had to run the stock rom on this phone for awhile, but as soon as I found an easy way to root and mod it (thanks Sfhub), I flashed a custom Rom and never went back. I doubt if I will ever use a stock Rom again. I'll be getting a GS3 in September and there will be many great Rom choices by then. No doubt I will root it the day I buy it.This thread was a good idea. Thanks
How i started rooting phones, thank the htc touch pro for that. Ive used developers talents to modify 4 different platforms ;windows mobile palm, apple (ipad) and now my second android

Started hacking and cracking years ago. Mostly on PC's and Linux based machines. Then saw this thing called Android sweeping the market. Then saw the galaxy s. I had to have it. So I got the Mesmerize. I took a few days to familiarize myself with it. Then hit the web and found XDA. It was on froyo so I used z4root to root it. Then I started reading all the stuff I could do to it. With the help of some great devs and nice people I was flashing away. We had a lot of great devs for that phone. The Mesmerize and Fascinate was like brother and sister. We could swap kernels and such. And the fassy devs was nice enough to do things for the mes too. It was an awesome first phone. Then got this thing and love it. The devs here are nice and do great work. I miss some of the old devs but some of them show up in here from time to time. Times and sbrissen are some. I miss it JT1134 but heard he quite development cause he didn't have the time. Anyway. I love android and couldn't imagine a better hobby.

i think its a great hobby too. Even when im doing other hobbies, i seem to sneak away and go on premium and look around. i know theres flashaholics, well i think im more of a xdaholic.
and everytime i see people with android phones, i try to explain to them that they dont have full advantage of their phone, then i tell them to come here. most of them do some of them dont. This is a great community and the more the merrier. its always nice to be able to ask things about your phone with other people that have your phone. anyways continue...
I got into rooting devices during the Windows Phone days, with the HTC Touch Diamond. I remember the old days of roms kitchens and building roms, things will a little different back then.
I started with the original Samsung behold because I wanted free games and ever since then I can't stop lol

Ahh my HTC ppc 6700... Makes me feel old lol. Back when wm was the ****. I used to get stopped all the time by people asking me about my phone. And then when skyfire came out and we could watch flash videos. I use to show off.
Mightymike use to have the best roms. When he released roms his servers would crash. Nrg would come out with the latest and greatest for EVERY phone. Thats where sense started and always was memory hog. Back when xda was mainly a gsm website. Cdma people were all at ppcgeeks. I still see a few guys every now and then from ppcgeeks. Calkulins a legend. And ziggy, tsowen, santod with their themes. No2chem, conflipper, cmonex just to name a few. Lol
Sorry i was just reminiscing.

Sorry double post
I used to have a Motorola hint. Always tried to play games, but no luck. Started learning about unlocking and got Motorola phone tools. I was able to fix my phone after I thought I killed it sideloading music onto my sd card. After that, me and my honey got Ascends, and I wanted to be able to fix my phone if I did something...stupid. read a bunch on rooting and one day, I took the plunge. I was a little apprehensive about voiding my warranty, but loved being rooted and Rom'ed. Got my Ascend 2 in December and rooted that. Then my buddy gave me his old HTC mytouch3g Fender edition. That was a beast to root, but I finally got it. Just waiting to save up for a better phone now...must mod!!! That's my story.

How I got into this
I've been reading about flashing and rooting ever since I got an evo 4g 2 yrs ago. Upgraded to the evo 3d and it came with a defective screen. I Ordered a Epic touch 4g to replace it and I got tired of all the b.s. about ics and decided to root. I can't believe I waited so long to do it. The bottom line is a week ago I flashed my 1st Rom using Odin one click, thank u qbking77, sfhub, sextape, chainfire , and everybody else who helped. Now I'm running cm9 nightlies after trying stock ff02 and ff11 and couldnt be happier. Im hooked. I rooted my girls evo earlier (s off and all) just to quench my thirst for a new rom to play with. I got a little to used to holding an evo again and accidently walked out the door with it on my way to work, lol. She's probably looking all over for the phone right now! Sorry honey. Hopefully she checks her email or fb on the PC ( cant call her) and sees my messages b4 she ends up tearing the house apart.
I have always been messing with everything electronic since I can remember. My dad worked on PC's so they where always around. I started really getting into phones with my Samsung a900 back in 05. I made a website on my home server that it could go to so I could side load apps and ring tones to it. Then I went on to WM and it just never stopped.
i had the HTC hero and wanted live wallpaper but i couldn't on stock so i rooted and ended up running cm7

Yeah I've been working on computers since I was a little kid. I remember helping my dad build his comp. When I was like 8. So I've been into computers for awhile. But i never had a forum I went to as much as this one. Even right now as I wait to go to work I'm on here 3-4am. Fb doesn't even get this much attention. Lol continue...

I've always tinkered with electronics since I was little. Pissed my dad off a number of times taking apart computers and frying the HDD (didn't know static=bad day for a HDD when I was that little). I moved on to software from there. All of it is self taught the hard way or from the magic of Google. Eventually I got a Blackberry and started flashing "hybrid" setups on them until Android came out. My first Android was the MyTouch 3G Slide. I learned a lot from that phone before I moved to a G2. Overclocking a phone to 2GHz+ was just insane It was like having a nuclear reactor in my pocket. Now here I am. I've progressed to being able to decompile apk's, do what I want, and recompile a working app. We'll see what the future holds.
Good luck to every other aspiring dev on here. Don't get discouraged by any complexity or any trolls on here. I promise you're probably over thinking most things and trolls are just trolls.
Mytouch 3g. HTC decided to skip the 2.1 update and make me wait longer for 2.2 I took matters into my own hands. Thought I messed up when it got stuck at the splash screen. Turns out I missed the gapps file.(used to have to flash it before cm). After that all my phones were rooted within 24 hrs. G2,Mt4g, g2x, nexus s, and now my et4g. Unofficialy updated the dell streak 7 to honeycomb. And am currently trying to convince the gf that I won't turn the transformer prime into a $500 brick.

Hello and thanks for reading yet another "noobaholic anonymous" post. I spent most of last night searching, and could not find what I was looking for... and the things that seemed relevant, were 2 years old. That's a century in this hobby. Sooooo....
Here's my dilemma. A year and several months ago, I rooted and ROM'd my Droid X with CM7. It was a cakewalk! But, I REALLY lusted for a HTC Inc2. So I switched to the Inc2 a year ago. Like you, I've been waiting for the ICS update, which isnt coming. So I've decided to go ahead and hot rod this sucker. I am on Page Plus, so warranty means nothing to me.
I've seen plenty of posts to downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3, I can handle that I think. And from what I've read of the various ROM's, it looks like Skyraider Zeus is the one for me. I want to keep the Sense stuff (clock, weather, calendar, notifications, phone launcher etc) but everything else is fair game.
So once I do the 2.3.3 thing and root my Inc2, where do I get the latest ROM and how do I get it on my phone? Also, I would like to try the GingerBangSense ROM and maybe CM7.2 as they get good reviews - is there some way to switch between them? Or do I have to go all the way to root and start over from scratch?
Forgive my asking the "same old stupid questions", I realize they've been asked before a million times. But as I said, the Inc2 is getting quite long in the tooth and there are a ZILLION threads on it. What scared me enough to stick my neck out and ask all these questions in this thread - is I cant find a concise thread in the latter part of 2012 or 2013. I didnt want to screw something up or miss out on something that's happened since early 2011 or whenever the majority of the threads were birthed.
So thank you again, for taking time to help someone trying to regain his sanity.

Once you downgrade to 2.3.3, and obtain clockwork, you can flash as much as you want. Skyraider can be found on the bamf forum.

I found this thread and am planning on using it to do the S-OFF/clockwork stuff http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219246
But there's nothing about flashing a ROM. Would you recommend a thread for that? I assume Clockwork is what I'll be using to install the ROM's?

Download the ROM you want to flash and place it on your SD card
Wipe data/cache/dalvic. I haven't used clockwork in a while so I don't remember what its called. 4ext let's you wipe everything but the SD card.
After the wipe, install ROM VIA CLOCKWORK. Then reboot.
Most ROM threads include instructions on flashing said ROMS.
Good luck.
Edit: dumb

Here is a good thread for multiple ways on rooting. Because the Inc2 got software updates rooting became problematic for some for a while. Figure out what version you are first before rooting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751796
Once done, download a ROM onto your sd card, reboot into recovery and do the following:
- Make a Nandroid (backup)
- Wipe data
- Wipe dalvik/cache
(I format system next)
- install file from sd card
- reboot and profit!
Thank you all, I am now the proud owner of a fully rooted and rom'd Dinc2. If I could, I would hand out candy or liquor, depending on your age
At the moment, I'm running Skyraider Zeus 1.3. Of course the ROM'ing bug has bitten, so IC Tazz is downloading at the moment and I'm thinking GingerBliss may be next. I'm torn though, I like the Sense GUI but would of course like the latest updated stuff... most of the ICS based or any of the CM stuff seems to have stripped out the Sense and it all looks like my old (and ugly..) Droid X. Any recommendations or are the 3 ROM's I've mentioned so far about it?
I have one more question for you elder statesmen - I have Clockwork Recovery on the phone right now. I see a couple others listed as TWRP or EXT4, are they any better or necessary for any other ROMs? Or will Clockwork do everything I need done and best to stick with it?

Viperinc is the sexiest ROM, but has lag issues. Pacman is pretty stable.
4ext is way better than cwm and you can get the recovery control app which makes managing backups, wipes a breeze.

I tried SRZ, it wasn't bad but I wanted to try ICS, so I loaded IC Tazz. I like 90% of it but GEEZ is that Sense 4.0 clock terrible looking! I realize you can load Fancy Widgets and get the Sense 2.x clock / weather look, but it does not trigger the Sense weather like the HTC clock does. SOooooo..... if there is some way of getting my good ol' HTC clock/weather (2.x) in IC Tazz, I'd be happy.
Oh - the OTHER iritation - on the lock screen, the clock is such a terrible skinny font! I dont know about you guys, but I use my phone as a time piece all through the day. So I wil whip it out and glance at the clock. I'm getting older (too old..) and really miss the 2.x clock skin/font/etc.
Other than that, WOW, what a nice update.
Now about the 4ext vs CWM - I read as many posts as I felt were relevant, and TWRP sounded like the best choice. So I downloaded Goomanager from the Play store, and used it to install TWRP (according to the instructions on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943592 ) It did it's thing, but there's no icon for TWRP on the phone now. Part of the perk was this was touch driven and no more volume/power button launching... so now what? I'm downloading Viper right now, so I'd like to slap it on the Dinc2 and check it out before I make my final choice and reactivate this phone. (I've got it offline till I get it "right")

In the last 24 hours I went from bonestock 2.3.4, to 2.3.3 to S-OFF to full root, to SRZ to IC Tazz, with CWM. Then TWRP went on and ViperINC went on... THEN I really lost my mind and put the 320 radio on it. Noob to Addict in 24 hours.
See what you guys created? You gotta be careful giving out all this information!
While I have your attention, and being I dont have enough posts to comment in the 'dev' area, if I should go back to SRZ or ICT, am I going to have to flash the radio? I looked ALL over and can not find a single working radio link. For what it's worth - I saw no gain from the 622 (GB) radio to the 320 (ICS) db wise.

On the ViperINC thread (the ROM), they had the radio listed right below it. Being the radio in my phone was several generations old (622) and my reception SUCKS, and (and and and..) I never flashed a radio before and I was feeling confident with my new found toys.... I went ahead and flashed it.
I reactivated the phone today, and can say the reception is not any better in the areas I usually use it. I guess it's just the flaw of the Dinc2.

Thanks for the clear up. What about the 320 radio being ICS based? SRZ is GB based, for example... last thing I want to do is brick my phone. Today I found a possible crippling flaw in the Venom ROM - the voice doesnt work on Google Maps. I use that app a lot, so I may have to revert to GB for now.

try the patch, the thread for it is in the dev section, fishing the radio should not have affected it, and radios have nothing to do with the version of android, its seperate, a firmware...
